MICHAEL STANTON
LEADS C GRADE TO VICTORY
2020 Sydney City Skoda Series keeps on delivering milestones and Round 5 was no exception when Michael Stanton led C grade to their first Summer Series win since 18 February 2014.
The last time C grade won a Summer Series round was when Roland Lang crossed for three consecutive wins 6 years ago.
Perhaps it was the unfamiliar territory of being up for the overall win but the bulk of C grade seemed to hesitate coming into the straight
except for Michael Stanton who just went early and went hard hitting the line 50 meters clear. Quinten Smyth was the best of the chasers just edging out C grade series leader Will Heffernan who got third.
Danny Iannazzo has been promising a big result all summer and his fourth overall just could be a sign of a strong, late season flourish.
Nosh Misty had to be content with fifth and while out of the C grade points he is still second in the series four points behind Will Heffernan.
A grade may have been out of overall contention but the last 2 laps were no less dramatic as the chasers first had to deal with a rogue
cone, then a stray ball and an even more hectic sprint. In the end it didn’t matter for Series Leader Jack Bennett who mopped up more
points in the A grade comp beating Alex Nazarewicz and Brad Mills to the line.
B grade keeps throwing up a different winner every week and this
week it was Michael Docker who reigned supreme after he got the
jump on the last pimple to surge home in front of Oliver Penny and Nick Coster.
Emma Coral Roberts continues to build her lead in the Womens
comp with another strong ride and win in the womens field but kudos also to Nicole Oh and Nicole Wilson who also had good rides to finish in the mix.
