CAM FRASER’S LAST LAP GAMBLE PAYS OFF WITH HIS FIRST WIN Cam Fraser has been threatening for a break out win all summer and in

Round 6 of the Sydney City Skoda Series the perfect opportunity presented itself. His last lap attack into the headwind was just enough to hang on by

a half a wheel from a fast finishing Jack Bennett and Alex Nazarewicz for a gutsy and very popular win.

Cam is no stranger to Tuesday Night Racing with one his first ever results

back in February 2015 with 3rd in C grade behind William Peters and Kee-

gan Atchinson ! Cam and his brother Brad were Tuesday Night regulars and

his aggressive, never say die approach to racing was evident back then with his father Gordon on the sidelines every week since.

There was still a considerable amount of work do for A grade as with one

lap to go C grade looked like they would back up their historic win from last week. The 117 strong field was now down to just 50 riders after the familiar 50kph NE had everyone searching cover.

The C grade catch on the last lap into the wind not only provided Fraser

with the perfect opportunity to launch his race winning move it also gave the C grade contenders the platform to mix it in behind the A grade sprint with

Nosh Mistry getting one over C grade series leader Will Heffernan. Impressive from both riders as they crossed the line inside the top 10.

Also impressive was the ride from Eline Smit who not only grabbed 3rd in C

grade but took out the prize for first woman home edging out women’s series leader Emma Coral Roberts. Expect to see more of Smit whose Dutch pedigree makes her a natural for cycling.

B grade had a huge field of 50 riders and even the B1 split forcing the 20

strongest riders to concede 20sec at the start didn’t alter the final outcome with Edwin Britts nailing a well deserved win in front of Dulwich Hill team mate and master blaster Peter O’Connor. Britts had a super strong ride, forcing the pace from the gun, setting up yet another B grade mid race

breakaway and then mixing it with an A grade breakaway. Certainly ready for A grade next week!

No changes in the Leaderboard but B grade remains the closest with Robbie Allen still holding a slender 1 point lead.
