RETURN OF THE KING
WELCOME TO SEASON 35 TUESDAY NIGHT HEFFRON MY HOME EVERYONE’S INVITED YOU’RE WELCOME THE KING OF HEFFRON, A.SPURGEON
My People (excluding those from MWCC) Isn’t it great to be back, racing in my backyard? It has
been a busy off season for me. Delivering royal babies in England, advising Russia on American politics and helping the current Australian Govt with their god fobias.
As with every winter since black and white days,
I ran a special training camp for future King of Heffron wantabes. Liam was there as usual, riding
exceptionally well for someone as ancient as me. And
not forgetting young Jesse Coyle. Definately the future king if only he’d stop listening to his relic team leader, Chris Miller. Now at 45 Chris is still racing NRS so clearly Heffron is not held in high regard.
And speaking of other old men, what’s with Bradley
Mills joining the Critdawg Boy Band? And the ZCC?? Back in my day Zetland was where we took stolen
cars to be chopped. Now it’s the local for fluro yellow fabrics (not that there’s anything wrong with that). I’d better roll outa here, before John Sunde gets jealous. Ride hard, drink beer. Eat meat.

JESSE COYLE STAMPS HIS AUTHORITY ON THE OPENING ROUND Welcome to the 35th Heffron Park Tues-
loud and Rauland Racing were out in force to
washed out race it was all go for the opening
Racing’s Jesse Coyle who put daylight be-
day Night Racing season. After last weeks
round which also counted as the first round of the Shimano Criterium Series.
make their mark, but in the end it was Nero
tween him and everyone to claim the opening week with an emphatic win
The Shimano Series is a new initiative from
ZZC’s Jack Bennett had to be content with
ing a round over the coming weeks before
out sprinted the rest of the field. Recently
NSW Cycling with many Sydney Clubs hostthe finale in Wollongong on 1 December.
The extra incentive to gain early points in
the Shimano Series attracted a huge field of 120+ riders, including 9 women along with
24 riders experiencing Tuesday Night Racing for the first time.
A 40kph NE wind isn’t the most damaging
wind at Heffron Park but it’s certainly strong enough along with the intense speed and
relentless corners to force several riders to rethink their grading options for week 2.
B grade looked the best in the opening laps
with the 50+ size bunch staying mostly intact
until the closing laps. C grade remained pretty steady also only losing a few newcomers heading into the final laps.
A grade on the other hand lost riders almost every lap from the gun with a very select
group of less the 20 riders left to make the
catch of a huge combined B & C with 3 laps to go.
The new alliance for 2019 summer sea-
son, the bright yellow ZZC squad boasting last summers Series winner Jack Bennett were keen start the summer with a bang.
Crit Dawgs with their new white paws were pumped to make sure their bark was still
2nd but confident in the knowledge he
crowned NSW Roadchamp Luke Cridland
racing for himself was quick enough for third, while Masters 5 Road Champ Liam Kelly
showed he’s still got some life left him yet to claim an impressive 4th. St George
Continental rider Scott Law may not be in top form yet but was still in the mix to grab 5th. Great result for East’s rider Cam Fraser f inishing 6th proving he will be a rider to watch over summer. Just to prove you
don’t have to be a regular to master the
Heffron Park circuit, 18 yo Rauland rider
Luke Britten stormed home in 7th overall and also claimed 1st B grade.
Luc McCann and Robbie Allen completed B grade both with super strong rides.
Another newcomer in Andrew Lawson from Sydney Club rode a very smart final lap to distance the rest of C grade and win from Sydney Uni riders Nick Carter and Baz Doosey.
Georgia Whitehouse and Anna Booth were too strong for the women’s field both riding B grade and finishing mid field. Shout out to Jennifer Kay for finishing the race after
a long injury set back to claim 3rd women home.
