RETURN OF THE KING
HISTORY IS NOT CREATED BY A MARKETING DEPARTMEN I LIVED IT! THE KING OF HEFFRON, A.SPURGEON
NT....
My People Those that know me know I am a pretty shy guy. It is not often that I have an opinion but over the
last few years something has been brewing in my belly and it’s time to take a stand. With a beer of course
“King” they ask me. “What is with these companies creating ‘retro-inspired’ cycling clothing?” My only answer...and I’ve bottled this since Bradley
Wiggins first grew side burns...is if these designers weren’tactually there (back in the day), then they just pretend they were.
Now I don’t want to cause any offense here by
naming names, but I have a challenge for all good
Heffron racers this series. As you are being passed mid race and you see someone going by in a kit
inspired by the 40s 50s 60s 70s 80s or 90s, yell at the top of your voice “PRETENDER!!!”.
With any luck there will be so much noise it will drown out John Sunde and David Evans

BLAKE QUICK JUST TOO DARN QUICK Queensland Junior World Track
Last weeks winner Jesse Coyle

quickly jumped by Brad Mills but
Champ Blake Quick claimed his win in as many visits (he also
won in March) when he effort-
lessly out kicked Sydney’s best crit riders to win week 2.
Once again a stellar field of 30 A grade riders where on a mission

pace was so hectic that when
the catch was made with 3 laps
to go a select group of only 13 A grade riders made the cut….
St George Continental’s Daniel Gandy and Blake Quick, Nero
Racing’s Chris Miller and Jesse Coyle, ZZC duo of Dan Bonello and Jack Bennett, CritDawgs Brad Mills, Chris Powell and Rylee Field, ACA’s Michael
Potter along with Cam Fraser,
Chaarl van Wyk and of course
balancing out the age spectrum, Liam Kelly.
At the bell though B grade hitter Jack Renshaw injected some panic into the bunch followed
by a classic Adam Socha move at the toilet block. Nero were
having none of this and quickly closed the threat down by the pimple.
Robbie Allen managed to sneak sprinted Rolando Delaytz, with
Michael Chidgey not far behind in 3rd.
Ex Sydney girl Matilda Raynolds visiting from Melbournebacked her impressive ride at the
Bowral Classic at the weekend
to finish with B grade and claim
first women. It was great see 10 females sign on for this weeks race.
The early season battle for C grade supremacy has been
ramped up to a new level with
Danny ‘Gino’ Iannazzo claiming back his C grade crown after
his hiatus in B grade last year.
Proctor Morris wasn’t far behind for 2nd and Michael Stanton in
his first Tuesday night race was 3rd
