RETURN OF THE KING
35 YEARS ON...THE HEFFRON RACE BREEDING PROGRAMME IS STILL GOING STRONG THE KING OF HEFFRON, A.SPURGEON
E
My People From the outset, please don’t be fooled. Nash Kent IS NOT The King. Nash has however successfully
graduated the Heffron Race Breeding Programme and has been allowed some time off to recover.
Now like all good Kings I’d like to claim another onpoint success on behalf of Nash (although at this
stage the child doesn’t have much hair like me but appears to have spotted a beer).
Many seasons ago, John Sunde came up with
the bizzare idea that the future of Heffron lay with me. What started with a stupid plan on the back
of a drinks coaster at the Beach Hotel (waiting for
Liam) soon became a valued-added service that is supplied complimentary with every race entry.
What greater gift could any Heffron racer give their future offspring? It’s not too late to apply. Come and have a chat on the start line.
The King of Heffron 1.0
LINCOLN HEY WINS FROM B GRADE In only his second start in a Tuesday Night Heffron race, up and coming Central Coast junior Lincoln Hey out sprinted Luke Britten to score a
sensational win for B grade and a unique 1 – 2 for Eastern Suburbs development squad Team Rauland.
The win came right down to the wire with Crit
Dawg Rylee Field unleashing one of the most
impressive last lap efforts ever to catch the entire 20 strong B and C grade field and make the podium for 3rd.
B grade sprint danger man Rolando Delaytz was 4th while Peter O’Connor in his first Heffron race of the season was 5th.
Just like Le Tour maybe this is the year Tuesday Night Racing will see a new generation of riders emerge? Another Heffron newbie 15yo Ryan
Britten from Illawarra kept the prizemoney in the Britten family by storming home in 8th overall to win C grade. Jacob van Egmond also new to Tuesday Night Racing was 2nd and to prove
there’s always an old dog in there somewhere Barry Doosey was 3rd.
Georgia Whitehouse once again proved she can
easily mix it with the best of B grade coming home with main field to win 1st woman.
Super tough night with another strong (and cold) NE wind, but it clearly motivated everyone in the 100 strong field to race at their best with many riders putting in superb rides.
