Round 5 – 19 February 2019 Tristan Ward backed up his solo win from last week with a perfectly executed sprint into the strong southerly to win Round 5 of the Bespoke Stabilising Summer Series.

In an almost carbon copy from last week, Nick Spratt was the bridesmaid again, with Daniel Gandy just edging Jack Bennett for third.

Bennett still collected a valuable 2 points to move to 15 points in the Series, a slender 1 point lead in front of Ward. Liam Kelly stays 3rd overall on 11 points.

If there were any sore legs from the weekend’s 262km Melbourne to

Warrnambool and Sunday’s Rob Hodgson Memorial race at Beaumont Rd, they were quickly forgotten as the 80 strong field set about the

task of adjusting to a howling 60kph southerly under dark and threatening skies.

This season the strength and speed of A grade has been relentless no matter what the conditions and the southerly was no more than a hiccup as the 35 strong B1 and B grade were caught with 5 laps to go.

From there it was a race of attrition with only 7 B grade riders making it to the
