For the second week in a row a Heffron Park newcomer stole the limelight with St George Continental rider Blake Quick winning Round 7 in commanding 2 hand salute style. Quick is no stranger to podium success with a Gold and Bronze medal from 2018 Junior Track Worlds already on his palmares. Jack Bennett collected the points for second which now puts him in an almost unbeatable position as 2019 Series Leader with 2 races to left. The warm afternoon weather prevailed for another week and along with light winds resulted in another exciting week of racing. The combined 32 strong B grade bunch set consistent 3min laps and looked the goods for overall when they caught C grade with 5 laps to go. A little hesitation after catching C grade and some over ambitious solo moves soon ruined that notion and with 2 laps to go the A grade train were once again in complete control. Alex Nazarewicz’s lead out for Series leader Bennett was gazumped by Tom Hubbard’s effort for Quick which gave him plenty of time for a 2 handed victory which even had the crowd stunned. Michael Potter was back in the mix for 3rd in front Luke Cridland and Liam Kelly who seems to have recovered well from his 3 Peaks effort at the weekend. B grade has seen different placegetters every race, except for Jean Paul Williams who managed to add a win to his previous 2nd and 3rd places to now lead the B grade points table. Pre race favourite Rolando Delaytz (“I get dropped in A grade”) was only quick enough for 2nd while Oliver Penny had his best result for 3rd Lui Alvarez backed up his win from Round 6 to take out C grade for the 3rd time and is rewarded with a well deserved promotion to B grade. Andy Portess showed fine form with another 2nd place and along with Yao Lu and Dave Leon who was 3rd are in the box seat to challenge for C grade over honours Georgia Whitehouse continues to race impressively in B grade and this week was rewarded with 1st women but impressively was in the top ten finishers from B grade
