In Istanbul, a city surrounded by the sea, Sophie Calle met people who had never seen it. For Voir la mer, as Calle describes it, “I took them to the shore of the Black Sea. They came to the water’s edge, separately, eyes lowered, closed, or masked. I was behind them. I asked them to look out to the sea and then to turn back towards me to show me these eyes that had just seen it for the first time.”

Since the late 1970’s, Sophie Calle —“France’s foremost conceptual artist” (The New York Times)—has been making provocative and often controversial work that confronts issues in her personal life. She is well-known for her sleuth-like explorations of human relationships, which have led her to follow strangers, and find work as a hotel chambermaid. The Face of America Magazine

During his long life, Michelangelo was celebrated for the excellence of his disegno, the power of drawing and invention that provided the foundation for all the arts. For his mastery of drawing, design, sculpture, painting, and architecture, he was called Il Divino (“the divine one”) by his contemporaries.

Behind the lens there is a whole world. Real or imaginary.  It’s like you can touch it, feel it, a life quest, a purpose, a dream, whatever, you run for it.

I like those moments where you almost reach it, and those pictures are the capture of the blurry moment between dream and fullness, hint of perfection, fleeting time, always slipping out of your hand.

CharlElie Couture is a total artist: Musician, Singer, Poet, and Painter. We went to meet him in his New York City atelier, and took photographies of him and his paintings and drawings all over the place
The Face of America Magazine
What we did not know is that we have been one of the very last persons to see his atelier. He decided to move all his paintings to France and the moving occurred just a few days after our visit.
The Face of America Magazine
We watched on CharlElie Couture’s Facebook page the live feed of the moving and the empty space left behind. The “Buy 0 Get 0” painting is one of the last paintings made there.

The events of September 11, 2001 are forever etched into the hearts and souls of the family members and loved ones of those who died, our nation, and the world. The United States experienced the worst incident of terrorism in its history; the coordinated hijacking of four commercial planes, the planned attack on symbolic targets, and the murder of innocent people were all tragic and shocking events. The extraordinary responses of individuals to the challenges they faced are inspiring and worthy of remembrance. Visit Arlington’s National 9/11 Pentagon Memorial and never forget.

“As a travel journalist, there are words we cannot use to describe a destination, such as “The most breathtaking view”, or the “The perfect destination”, as such superlatives are one-time use only words. But are we here to respect rules? Certainly not. Our experience at Grand Junction, Colorado has been truly amazing. This is one of the most beautiful city we have ever seen. Just breathtaking all along the way. So beautiful there is nothing more to add. Just watch what we have seen. And go there for your next holidays. Or pretend you have a business meeting in Grand Junction. Or just go now without any reason.” -P.G.
The Bin 707 Foodbar has not only an intriguing name, it oers creative and ultra-fresh seasonal Colorado cuisine. We loved eating and chatting with other customers at the bar. Very nice and warm atmosphere to enjoy Grand Junction’s hospitality. The Face of America Magazine
