INTERVIEW WITH PAYAL GIDWANI TIWARI Taken By Pitanjal Datta When someone with a stiff body type goes to you what is the first thing you do to make him/her flexible to make him/her eligible for doing the really difficult YOGA streches and exercises? Ans) My method of teaching yoga is very different I combine variations with yoga taking into consideration the clients’ body type. I should find my 5 components that I have set for all my clients which are muscular strength, muscular endurance, cardiovascular endurance, flexibility & body fat composition these factors are extremely important. If I feels any of these 5 components are missing then they are considered unfit and need to start building each component from scratch.

Ans) When writing my books I kept one thing in mind that one should pick up a book which has a lot of detail and informative and took it off from there. Take my book for instance ‘From Xl to Xs’ I have mentioned stars as well as common individuals body types, real life instances, pictures as well as steps on how to go about doing the exercises, When I wrote my book I kept one thing very clear in my mind that this book was going to be for everyone taking every body type PAYAL SIGNS HER BOOK DURING THE BOOK LAUNCH and problems people face, medical issues as well as self esteem issues into consideration. Here people can identify themselves When I wrote my and relate to the stories and book I kept one thing work on the same.

What are the common problems that you feel can be tackled by doing YOGA ? Ans) My husband and myself both went to the kaivalyadhama school of yoga but we practice our own modification of yoga which we feel will suite our clients as we always make it a point to understand our clients’ needs and their body. Many people expect results but don’t realize what extent of damage they are putting their body’s at and we are here to understand that and take it to a different level our modifications are done to suite a person’s need and requirement.


How do you inspire your clients when they feel lazy to make it to workout on a particular day. Ans) What I expect from my clients are their dedication, involvement and punctuality. I make every class interesting and not repetitive I add a lot of fun and creativity leaving the client unaware of their next class.

How much cautious does one needs to be when it comes to diet, for maintaining and respecting the workouts he/she does? Ans) I do not believe in diets I prefer doing yoga, running, exercising, playing sports and eating healthy. I advice my clients to refrain from sodas and preservatives. I recommend starting of your mornings with a healthy breakfast; even if you’re not hungry make it a habit to have a healthy breakfast daily. Even a breakfast with just yogurt a fruit and muesli or cornflakes is fine. When eating healthy you need to keep in mind that you are doing this for the long run, by not cheating and you are only benefiting yourself.


We have heard a lot about you training celebs..Who do you consider among the celebs you have trained the most obedient student of yours? Ans) If you do yoga as a way of living it make you younger which is a known fact, you can have a look at Sridevi Kapoor who has been working with my husband Manish Tiwari for the past 10 yrs. An important question on YOGA that we missed asking you.Please give us the answer to it as well Ans) People say they don't have time for yoga because they work.For the ones who don’t find the time from their daily busy schedule there are office work outs that I suggest as mumbaikars are always on the move, these can be practiced with minimum equipment's in hand, the main aim of office workout is not to bulge the muscles or weight loose. Office workouts are practiced with the goal of avoiding the daily stress and keeping the body healthy and mind fresh. The equipment's for office exercise can be


found from the office itself. A chair, water bottle, mat, a ball, elastic band, hand gripper etc‌ are great office workout equipment. Office workout doesn’t require at all a workout space like a gym room or dedicated exercise hall. You can practice it at your cabin itself. What time of the day do you feel is the best time to do YOGA? Ans) If you want to work yoga into your daily life, consider doing poses before you even get out of bed. Poses that require you to be on your back can be done this way. Then when you first get out of bed you can do some standing poses. Morning, before your day begins, is the best time of day to practice yoga.Once you start doing yoga the benefits are endless What are the different goals that you undertake through your YOGA classes? Ans) Doing yoga regularly offers many benefits, it helps in weight loss, inch loss as well as improves flexibility including making you feel better about your body as you become stronger and more flexible, toning your muscles, reducing stress, and improving your mental and physical wellbeing.
