Greetings and thanks for taking time to look over this year’s offerings. To update you on what we’ve been up to, Mom is working as a receptionist at the school and Dad is still doing some vet work. They both pitch in with helping us any time we ask. Tori is a sophomore this year and is very busy with basketball, volleyball, FFA, and keeping straight A’s. Turner is in the 7th grade. He is quarterback of the football team and plays point on the basketball team. His team had a good year and I believe they are undefeated in both sports. Tucker is in the 6th grade. He loves sports and plays football, basketball, and has plans to be a saddle bronc rider. All of the kids are proving to be good hands on horseback, tractor, or where needed. There is no way that Michelle and I could do this without the family pitching in, especially in the summer with running the entire 600 head cow herd through an AI program while trying to get a little hay up. Michelle and I stay busy running the ranch together, following the kids in sports, 4H, FFA and stock contracting a few rodeos with our bucking horses. This last year has been stressful on our industry due to lack of feed, and abundance of snow with wind, and a recessed cattle market. On the bright side, as I write this, the cattle market and the temperatures are both climbing. Plus, we have had three days of fog and that just translates into warm rain showers toward the end of April. (Nothing like a little optimism in from of a sales pitch.) I know it sounds like déjà vu, but I truly believe this is the best set of bulls we have ever offered. Fortunately, if your program is headed the right direction, that’s how it should be. There are 54 bulls in the sale this year and they are the cream of the 250 head male calf crop. Correct structure, performance, calving ease, docility and most important, raised by a good fault free cow. These are all of the criteria used in this selection. The average birth weight on the bulls is 86 lbs and the group weaned off at 735 lbs on October 20th with no creep. Again this year, Brad Mackaben had four purebred Angus bulls in the sale (lots 44,45,57 and 58). If you have any questions or would like to stop by and look at our cattle, please call Mac at (406) 975-6288, Michelle at (406) 975-6289 or Brad at (605) 484-7286. Thanks, The Tookes Sale Format Bulls will be auctioned and sold to the highest bidder by John Henry Beardsley with help calling from Les Kreitel and Curt Westland.
Delivery We will deliver the bulls around May 1st. If you would like your bull branded when we test, put description and location on the buyer agreement.
Health The bulls had Vision 7 Somnus, Express 5 PHM, Multimin and poured at weaning. On January 10th they were given another dose of Vision 7 Somnus, Express 5 PHM and Susogard and then poured. They will have Vira Shield 6 + VL5 when semen tested the end of April.
Feed The bulls are on pellets and free choice sedan grass. Flax lick tubs are also available. They are fed to go to work, not the freezer.
Volume Discount When purchasing more than two bulls, the discount is 3% on 3 bulls, and up to 10% on 10 head.
Guarantee If your bull fails the semen test or gets hurt before delivery, the buyer will have a choice of a refund, another bull, or credit. Bulls are guaranteed against any injury that would keep them from servicing cows for the first breeding season. If a problem occurs, contact Alkali Inc. immediately and a suitable replacement will be furnished or credit minus any salvage will be given toward next year’s sale. The buyer may choose the options. This guarantee does not cover death of the animal. All claims must be submitted by September 1, 2017. Guarantee is null and void if injury / death is sustained due to negligence under the care of new owner.
