S.B.L.S. Yearling Halter and 2/3 Ranch Horse Versatility Futurity Yearling halter classes are for any weanling horse purchased at our 2020. The RHV class was established to demonstrate the versatility of the Sugar Bars bloodline; each entry will be shown in: Halter, Reining and Western Pleasure. Each class will be worth equal points. (Example: total points worth 90, each class is worth 30 points.) Weanlings purchased at the 2018 or 2019 sale & yearlings purchased at the 2019 or 2020 are eligible to compete in the RHV.

In addition to cost of horse, buyer will be charged- $25(AQHA) or $25(APHA) transfer fee, brand inspection fee & health inspection fee for each horse purchased. Each animal sells to the highest bidder with auctioneer settling bidding disputes. Announced catalog changes on sale day take precedence over this printed book. Horses will be sold in catalog order unless otherwise specified. A Wyoming Veterinarian and Wyoming State Brand Inspector will be at the sale to assist buyers. ALL horses sell with a negative Coggins test and current health papers. Buyers are strongly encouraged to carefully inspect the horses before bidding. There are no further guarantees unless specified by seller. All horses are buyer’s property as soon as sold; and buyer assumes all liability & expense. No delivery is available until final settlement is made on all purchases. Buyers must make arrangements for care of horses at their own risk until delivery is taken. Registration papers and transfers will be held until the checks clear the bank; then mailed to the appropriate registry by SBLS sale management. A halter and lead rope will be provided by consignor for each horse sold. SBLS or its members or the Sheridan County Fairgrounds assume no liability for defects in the quality, soundness, or condition of the horsesWHATSOEVER. We are pleased to announce the Sugar Bars Legacy Sale “Wildcard.” The 1st horse sold in the sale will be a “wildcard.” The winning bidder for the “wildcard” lot will have his/her choice of any weanling in the sale. With no colt in the ring, the auctioneer will ask for bids on the “wildcard”. It will be auctioned in the same manner as every other weanling in the sale, apart from the fact that, no one will know until the bidding is over and the winning bidder chooses his/her weanling, which horse has actually been sold. That weanling must be claimed immediately on winning the bid – and then will be removed from the catalog order. The sale will resume with the remainder of the consigned weanlings in catalog order.

Skittles came off the Crago Ranch breeding program. His dam was a multiple National Qualifier in H.S. Cutting and his sire was the SD Reined Cow Horse Champ, World Show Qualifi er and Regional 2 Open All Around Horse. He is very cowy and has been heeling the last two years at local jackpots. We have used him for all ranch work, will drag calves all day long to the branding fi re. This summer Taya started break away roping on him and he can drag a steer off on the heading side. He has been Laurie’s main mount this spring/summer for all ranch work and ranch rodeos. He will ride off alone and has a running walk that will make any cowboy smile. This mare was used as a ranch horse for the first four years she was ridden (age 2-6) by myself and my daughter. This included moving the cows from the desert lease to the mountains. She has been roped on in the branding pen, and was used extensively as a sorting horse separating calves from cows; in short she loves to work cows. She has also been shown competitively in 4-H under saddle and was used to pony other horses of differing ages and sizes during the training process including half drafts. Her calm personality, soft mouth, smooth gait, and level headedness has made her an ideal horse for any task that we have asked her to do. She was born colored as a bay tobiano, by the end of her first year she had changed to a roan tobiano, and over the last year her color has changed to a flea-bitten gray color. Quest is a 3 year old filly that we purchased as a weanling. We put 30 days on her as a 2 year old and then started riding her again this spring. She is doing really well in the arena and in the mountains. Quest knows her leads, stops nice, backs well, side passes, pivots on her front end, beginning to turn around nicely, and works well in a trail course (gate, bridge, logs, and backing an L). On the mountains, she is gaining confidence to navigate rocky trails, muddy areas, water crossings, and down timber. Quest takes everything in stride and is very trusting of our judgement. She stands to be saddled and enjoys getting cooled off with the garden hose. Quest would make a great goat tying, breakaway roping, 4-H or even a Ranch Riding / Ranch Trail prospect. Yankee is an 8 year old Grade gelding, half Quarter Horse, half POA. Our son who was 13 at the time bought Yankee to be his first “project” horse. Since then, he has been used on large cow/calf operations for all areas of ranch work including calving heifers, branding, sorting and roping yearlings. He is very stout on a rope and will go all day and then some. He is quick footed and very cowy. Yankee isn’t fancy, but he is a solid work horse and has done everything our son has asked him to do.

Hombre is 14.3 h., he goes English or Western, his gaits are soft and comfortable, he does NOT pound you into the ground. His dam was a big boned Egyptian Arab used for trail and hunting, his sire a Paint working ranch horse. He lived on the Montana range until brought in as a 4 year old, I trained him consistently for 4 years. He was easy and naturally balanced with a slow lope and good head carriage right from the start. Since then used only occasionally for family trail rides when my niece and novice nephews were visiting; perfect after long stretches of time off. Never been lame or sick in any way. NO vices. Lives with mares and geldings; bottom of the pecking order. He has carried a flag and panniers, fox hunted and pushed cows. Ridden in all kinds of rough country; Over bridges, ditches, water, banks and steep up and down, just quietly and safely negotiates through and over things with No spook. He goes where you point him, is uncomplicated, smart, willing, dependable, steady and travels with ears up. He is quiet enough for a good child rider but forward and well trained enough for an advanced rider. Knows all his lateral work, has natural lead changes, rides on a loose rein, is hobble trained, been ponied and ponied others, has a wonderful forward walk if you want it, comes home the same speed he went out and is not barn sour, ever. Rides in the front or the back of a group equally pleasantly and rides out alone easily. Contact me for video and more pictures.
