Wins Tight Finish in Mobley Stakes Story By: Tammy Knox Photos By: Lindscott Photography
J
LB Dashin Ranger and Rich Gilliard upset a field of 10 Indiana-sired two-year-olds Sunday, Sept. 19 in the first running of the $100,000 Gordon Mobley Futurity. A nose decision was captured in the win photo to place the longshot in the winner’s circle for trainer Kevin Cleary and owners Eddie Webb and Elizabeth Langellier. Starting from post eight, JLB Dashin Ranger wasn’t the first one out of the gate, but he certainly turned things around in his favor very early in the 350-yard dash. The freshman son of The Rainbow Ranger was one of the top contenders the entire length of the stretch, never giving in an inch. Halfway down the stretch, Oh So Ever Clear and Shanley Jackson joined JLB Dashin Ranger and Gilliard and the two horses were side by side for the final half of the race.
“We are honored to have Gordon (Mobley) here with us today,” said Jim Noel of the QHRAI. “Gordon has supported our program for years and was a trainer here until he suffered a stroke a few years ago. Usually races are named after people that are no longer with us. This is a great honor to have this race named for Gordon and to have him here to help present the winner’s trophy. We appreciate his assistance and support of the Quarter Horse program so much over the years.” Quarter Horse action continues during the 2010 season through the final day of racing Sunday, Oct. 24. The final weekend will be highlighted by several Quarter Horse stakes, including the $100,000 Sterlie Bertram Memorial Saturday, Oct. 23 and the $100,000 Miss Roxie Little Futurity Sunday, Oct. 24. The stakes, both in their second running, will be joined by the $75,000
JLB Dashin Ranger and Oh So Ever Clear matched each others’ strides to the wire for the exciting finish, giving the slight edge to JLB Dashin Ranger at the wire. Katies Casino Bug, only one of two fillies in the field, rallied up the inside for third for rider Jose Beltran. Im A Rare Charm (No. 9) unseated rider Alex Estrada at the start and finished in the photo on the outside of JLB Dashin Ranger and Oh So Ever Clear at the finish. Gordon Mobley shown presenting the winner’s trophy for the race named in his honor.
The win for JLB Dashin Ranger was the first in three career starts. All three attempts have been recorded over Hoosier Park’s oval, giving the gelding two previous third place finishes. JLB Dashin Ranger now has more than $61,000 in career earnings for the Cleary team of Kevin and Tina, who share responsibilities in the barn for the conditioning of the horses.
Governor’s Stake and $75,000 QHRAI Derby along with the $100,000 Hoosier Park Classic, which are all part of history. The trio of stakes kicked off the first season of Quarter Horse racing in the state in 1997, running for a purse of $10,000 apiece.
The surprised backers of JLB Dashin Ranger were joined in the winner’s circle by Gordon Mobley. Mobley, a longtime supporter of the Indiana Quarter Horse racing program, was honored by members of the Quarter Horse Racing Association of Indiana (QHRAI) as well as the Director of Indiana Breed Development Jessica Barnes.
Also on the agenda for closing weekend will be the $70,000 Bradford Stakes, which began in 1999. The race is part of the John Deere Bonus Challenge which covers several races at several different tracks. For more information about Quarter Horse racing and Hoosier Park Racing & Casino, log onto www. hoosierpark.com.

LETTER FROM THE EDITOR
I
t has been a great summer! Although it was hot and very dry through July and especially August, we have enjoyed this year so much! We had the new experience of Cowboy Mounted Shooting and met some great people at the competitions. And we really enjoyed spending more time being involved in the Horse Racing World. Between those two new ventures, we managed to get in some good barrel racing as a family. (Those are the things memories are made of!) With all the hurrying around over the summer, I realized that if I had one complaint, it is that summer went by too fast. I have just noticed that the mornings are way cooler than a couple weeks ago, and at the barrel race over the weekend I was pulling my hoodie over my ears way too often to block the chilly breeze! Fall has arrived.
I do look forward to fall in some ways. I really enjoy competing at the fall shows when the weather allows a break from the heat and sweaty horses. It brings several Finals, as well as The Midwest Match Race, The Quarter Horse Congress and the NAILE in our part of the country. All of these events hold special memories for me. This year we will be making some new memories as a family when we travel to Cedar Rapids, Iowa for the 2010 Midwest Match Race. Three of our family members will be competing on teams and two more will hopefully get to be on an interstate team. Exciting and possibly three generations competing together. I am sure we will include coverage in a future issue to let our readers know how it turns out. We would like to officially welcome our newest member to our Sales team. Jessica Tarry of Oklahoma joined our team in September and we know she will be a great asset to our Staff. She has a great knowledge of horses in general and a great understanding of the marketing that goes into a horse related business. We are getting geared up for our 2011 Stallion Calendars. If you own a stallion and would like to have your stallion featured in our 2011 Edition, contact our Sales team to see what months are still available. Hope you all get to head out to one of the big events going on in the next couple of months. If you have a memorable experience worth sharing, we’d love to hear about it. Contact us with your story! And.....Until next month, ......Spend some time with friends and remember to count your blessings on horseback... God Bless and ride safe, Christa Conway
Setting it Straight A couple of items we want to set straight from our September 2010 issue... The Indiana NBHA State Show took place July 8th-11th in Edinburgh, Indiana. State Director, Bob Hess is also a recently appointed NBHA Regional Executive. Pat Freels was the announcer for the event and the picture of the Senior 2D Champion, Mary Freels, was not on file at the time of print, so we will include it this month. (Pictured at right, photo provided by Puhl’s Photography)
Family Album
We would like to try and create a “Family Album” of the Barrel Horse World folks. If you visit Barrel Horse World and would like to be included in the “Family Album,” send us a picture of yourself and your screen name. Send pic and name to thehorseresource@msn.com

Horseshoe H NT September’s Horseshoe Hunt winner is Brenda Sletten of Stage Rock Quarter Horses in Mauston, WI. Brenda chose to extend her subscription. Congrats! Olivia White of Wilkinson, IN and Michelle Sarber also found our horsehoe. The horseshoe was on page page 20. It is the “U” in the word TOUGH in the heading “One Tough Dude.” Don’t forget the added incentive of a FREE “Horsey-T,” “Horsey-Hat” or a year’s subscription. This month’s horseshoe hunt will offer the same incentive....the first one to contact us with the location of the Horseshoe in this issue will be our winner. Call or email when you find it and we’ll mention your name in our November 2010 issue and send you a prize if you are the first to contact us! “Happy horseshoe hunting!” (Find the horseshoe to the left somewhere in this issue and email or call us with it’s location! thehorseresource@msn.com)

Chicagoland Equestrian Lifestyle Expo set for November 20-21;
Organizers ask horsemen to tell them what they want to learn
Organizers of the third annual Chicagoland Equestrian Lifestyle Expo & Holiday Market (November 20-21, 2010 at the Lake County Expo Center, Grayslake, IL) are asking people from all segments of the horse industry for suggestions on programming. “We want to hear from competitors, professionals and those who make their living in the business of horses, as well as recreational riders and those just getting into horses,” said Joy Meierhans, who manages Expo for Horsemen’s Council of Illinois. “HCI wants to build on the 50 different presentations offered over the two days of last year’s Expo,” Meierhans said, “which covered such wide-ranging topics as ‘What genomics can tell us about health and disease’ and ‘Nutritional product claims vs. factbased research’ to ‘Overcoming fear by building confidence’ and ‘Equestrian travel – discovering the world upon a horse.’” “As always, Expo will not have horses on site, but it will feature leading trainers, nutritionists, animal scientists, veterinary specialists and researchers in the forefront of equine understanding,” Meierhans said. To see a complete list of last year’s programming, representative of the type of programming Expo will continue to offer in 2010 and in years to come, go to http://www.horsemenscouncil.org/Expo09/ and find the programming plus a list of participating vendors. Steve Kenyon, communications specialist for the University of Wisconsin’s College of Agricultural and Life Sciences, called last year’s Expo “the best equestrian education opportunity,” he’d ever seen. Kenyon and his wife participated in a hands-on session learning about leg wraps, “Different wraps for different reasons.” Suggestions for Expo speakers and topics may be submitted online at www.horsemenscouncil.org/expo. The web site also has a place to sign up for “Updates” to be emailed as Expo nears. In addition to its extraordinary educational emphasis, Expo offers shopping for “all things equestrian” across the new building’s 65,000 square feet of exhibit space. Sponsored by Purina, hours for the all-breed Chicagoland Equestrian Lifestyle Expo & Holiday Market are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Tickets will be available online or at the door: Daily $8, Weekend $14. Parking is free at the Lake County Expo Center, located west of I-94 at the intersection of Peterson & Midlothian Roads in Grayslake. As speakers and programming are finalized, information will be placed on the Expo web site accessed through www. horsemenscouncil.org/expo.

Greetings, INDIANA QUARTER HORSE RACING Fans! We have a lot to share with you about what’s happened recently as well as what’s to come with Quarter Horse Racing in Indiana ... With the Indiana Downs meet coming to a close, we’ve packed up and moved to Hoosier Park in Anderson. At press time, our fall meet is well underway and everything is going pretty smoothly... NEW GROUND AT HOOSIER PARK In the past, the inside of the track (1,2,3,4 post positions) has always been a little deeper, making it undesirable to draw an inside post. With this in mind, our QHRAI leadership team met with the Hoosier Park officials about what they can do to make the track surface a “more even” or “level playing field” so to speak. The grounds crew went to work right away and thus far, they’ve been successful, the outside of the track, (5,-10 post positions) which typically is very firm, almost hard and the extreme outside, was much softer, a little deeper and this made the track much more even. As a result, we’ve seen more races won from the inside (remarkably, at press time there were more wins from the 1 and 2 hole than any other position!) than we might normally see. Thanks to our leadership team for getting this taken care of before the meet began! ROOT FOR YOUR FAVORITES It’s a horse race for our leading jockey title!! The current leader is multiple leading rider title holder, Harold Collins with Shanley Jackson, who had the lead early, close on his heels followed by Aaron Hunt. It’s exciting to see these brave riders competing for the title, race by race! Come root for your favorite, they love to see their fans cheering them on, race night! The current leading trainer again, multiple leading trainer title holder, Ron Raper with a healthy lead over the others. With most horses only having one race (at press time) it’s too soon to call a leading horse yet, but we’ll be sure to give you some names in out next newsletter. HOOSIER HORSE LEADER We’re hoping to begin a new “Hoosier Horse Leader” division which will be leading money earning horse that is TOTALLY HOOSIER. Trained by and Indiana trainer, owned by and Indiana resident, bred in Indiana, and sired by an Indiana Sire. This horse will be the epitome of what any Hoosier can have, racing right here in Indiana!

KEEPIN TRACK... AT THE TRACK Remember you can keep up with all of the current leaders and latest updates on races at the Hoosier Park website, www.hoosierpark.com. or at the QHRAI website, www.qhrai.net The QHRAI would like to encourage you to come to the races and see all of the success our local owners, breeders, trainers and jockeys are enjoying and you will realize that ANYONE can get involved and share in the great excitement that IS .... QUARTER HORSE RACING IN INDIANA !! Growing more than any other equine industry. Growing more than any other quarter horse racing state. We are proud of our industry, proud of our organization, proud of our leadership but most of all we are proud of our horses and the people who continue to breed and raise them to race here in Indiana! Until next month, check for updates on the QHRAI website, www. qhrai.net or the Hoosier Park website, www.hoosierpark.com Thanks for your support, Tina Cleary,

News Two Human Eastern Equine Encephalitis Cases Confirmed in Southwest Michigan On August 20, the Michigan Department of Community Health confirmed two human cases of Eastern Equine Encephalitis in Kalamazoo County. A 61-year-old man is recovering from the illness while a 41-year-old man is in intensive care in a Kalamazoo County hospital. Both human cases have a history of local exposure to mosquitoes. These are the first human cases reported in Michigan since 2002. No further details about the two cases are being released. A virus of birds that is spread by mosquitoes, EEE is a rare illness in humans, according to an MDCH press release. Only a few human cases are reported each year in the United States. People who become ill with EEE experience fever, headache, chills and nausea. In some cases, symptoms may progress to inflammation of the brain, signaled by disorientation, seizures and coma. EEE is spread by mosquitoes and causes inflammation of the horses’ brains and leads to death in up to 90 percent of the cases, according to MDCH. People cannot get the disease from horses, only from mosquitoes. There is a vaccination available to aid in prevention of the disease in horses. Clinical signs in horses include: depression, fever, weakness, sweating, dehydration, seizures, abnormal facial expressions, not feeding, head down, stumbling, blindness and circling. Often, the horse is down and unable to get up. “The majority of the 2010 affected Michigan horses were not currently vaccinated against EEE,” said Dr. Steven Halstead, Michigan state veterinarian. “It is not too late to vaccinate horses against this deadly virus.” EEE is a reportable disease that also affects poultry such as chickens and emus. Veterinarians are required by law to report cases of EEE. Livestock owners are also encouraged to report cases. “We encourage diagnostic testing because EEE can look like rabies and although rabies is not common in horses, it is fatal and is contagious from horses to people,” Dr. Halstead said. The MDCH and the Michigan Department of Agriculture are continuing to receive reports of cases of EEE in horses in Southwest Michigan, including Barry, Calhoun, Cass, Kalamazoo and St. Joseph counties. EEE is one of the most dangerous mosquito-borne diseases in the U.S., killing one third of those hospitalized with the infection, and often leaving survivors with lasting brain damage. In addition to the human cases, 18 horses have tested positive for the virus, and MDA has received more than 50 additional reports of horse deaths. The southwestern region of the state has experienced outbreaks of this mosquito-borne disease in the past with the most recent outbreaks occurring in the early 1980’s and mid-1990’s. Mosquitoborne illness will continue to be a risk in Michigan until late fall when nighttime temperatures fall below freezing. Communities and land owners in high-risk areas may consider the targeted application of insecticides to reduce the number of biting
Page 16
mosquitoes. The Michigan Mosquito Control Association maintains a list of licensed mosquito control applicators on its website at www. mimosq.org. Steps you should take to protect yourself include: Use repellent: When outdoors, use insect repellent containing DEET, picaridin, IR3535 or oil of lemon eucalyptus on exposed skin and/ or clothing. The repellent/insecticide permethrin can be used on clothing to protect through several washes. Always follow the directions on the product label. Stay indoors when mosquitoes are biting: Mosquitoes are most active at dusk and dawn. Wear protective clothing: Wear long sleeves and pants when weather permits. Install and repair screens: Have secure, intact screens on windows and doors to keep mosquitoes out. Keep mosquitoes from laying eggs near you: Mosquitoes can lay eggs even in small amounts of standing water. Get rid of mosquito breeding sites by emptying standing water from flower pots, buckets, barrels and tires. Change the water in pet dishes and replace the water in bird baths weekly. Drill holes in tire swings so water drains out. Empty children’s wading pools and store on their side after use. For more information on the human health impact of EEE, please visit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s EEE website at http://www.cdc.gov/easternequineencephalitis/. For updates on equine and human cases of EEE and other mosquito-borne diseases in Michigan, visit the Emerging Diseases website at http://www. michigan.gov/emergingdiseases.

Lovett has celebrated nearly 30 years of hits including “If I Had a Boat,” “Nobody Knows Me,” “South Texas Girl,” “That’s Right (You’re Not from Texas),” “She’s No Lady,” and his groundbreaking single “Cowboy Man.” On his 14th album, “Natural Forces” released last year, Lovett croons a poignant line that speaks to his equestrian spirit, “Home is where my horse is.” Lovett’s connection to the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games is not limited to the closing ceremonies. A Texan, he breeds and raises Quarter Horses for reining, competes non-professionally as a rider, and is involved in equestrian charity work. One of his horses, Smart and Shiny, is slated to be ridden by Marco Ricotta for Italy in Reining.
“Lyle Lovett is one of America’s greatest living singers and songwriters,” said Dr. Everett McCorvey, executive producer of the opening and closing ceremonies. “As the curtain closes on the World Equestrian Games’ debut in the United States and we bid farewell to newfound friends the world over, no one could bring us to a better concluding note than the iconic Lyle Lovett.” In addition to his music, Lovett has appeared in twelve feature films, including several directed by the highly-acclaimed Robert Altman. Tickets to the Oct. 10 closing ceremonies are still available. To secure your tickets today, please visit www.alltechfeigames.com or call 1-888934-2010.

News Pawn Stars’ Chumlee Calls Race at Hoosier Park Any other night, the fifth race claiming event would be just another race. However, Saturday, Sept. 11 had a special twist. Austin “Chumlee” Russell, one of the popular characters from the hit television show Pawn Stars, provided the commentary for the race, proclaiming Rose Run and Tommy Turner as the winners. Chumlee, along with Rick, Corey, and “The Old Man” Richard from Pawn Stars that airs on the History Channel, was assisted by Hoosier Park’s track announcer Steve Cross for the call of the six-furlong race. However, in the final turn, Chumlee took control of the duties and announced that the field was “coming around the bend.” When Rose Run and Turner got to the lead late in the stretch, he noted that “Rose Run is doing something” and was able to get the top three finishers in his call at the wire. When Chumlee was complimented on his task of calling his first race, he replied, “Don’t tell ‘The Old Man’ that. He’s trying to get rid of me.”
Association (HBPA). The entire cast of Pawn Stars accommodated several fans during the night, posing for pictures and signing autographs during the racing program. “This has been one of the best road trips we’ve ever taken,” said Corey. “We’ve had a lot of fun tonight. In addition to their television show, Pawn Stars has a Gold & Silver Road Show that they take across the country. Earlier in the day, fans and potential sellers brought in items ranging from jewelry to stuffed animals to antique diving gear. “We’ve been to a lot of casinos with our road show, but this is the first time we’ve been to a racetrack,” said Rick Harrison, who is known as “The Spotter” on the show. “We saw some pretty eclectic items today. We didn’t have any horses brought in, but I did buy an iron horse.”

Bella
“Weiner” dog or????
Of course, the “Princess” doesn’t overexert herself by helping with the mouse hunting in the barn or the bird chases in the yard....so we all know she could use a little exercise. I still have a suspicion that there is more to it than just a lack of physical activity....I think she has resorted to using the “food face” again....only now she is using it all for her own “gain.” (Pun intended.) I think she is using the “food face” to get herself some table scraps when I am not around. I have also seen her sneaking into the outside dogs’ kennel and getting into their food bowls when she thinks no one is looking. Little does “Miss Annie” know that I am onto her tricks. Our people are onto her as well. They were recently discussing a way to keep her out of the big dogs’ kennel and putting us both on a “controlled” diet. (Sidenote: Why do they have to include me in this plan?)
Well, first of all, I have to let everyone know that the vet says my itchy episode from last month was not caused by “Stress Related Annergies” as I was beginning to think. It seems that many of my ranch dog colleagues have been dealing with the same problem this year. The dry weather, the heat, humidity, brown grass, etc has made for one miserable summer of dry itchy skin for me and my canine friends. Thankfully, after a trip to the vet and a shot of some kind of magical potion, I was feeling like myself again. (Thanks to those who called my people checking on me.)
The trick will be getting all of the people to stick to the plan. It is no secret that Miss Annie has one of the people here at the ranch wrapped around her little paw. Every time she yips, she has a particular person jumping to see what she wants.... a treat, carried to her next destination, put in her bed, off the bed, on the couch....etc. I have to look away when she starts barking orders. She is pretty spoiled to say the least.
That being said, we evidently have a new “issue” at the ranch. It is obvious to some that “Princess Annabelle” is growing larger than your typical “Miniature Wiener Dog.” Now, she still has the short little legs and the long body, but there seems to be a lot more of Annabelle there in the mid section than what most would deem normal for a dog of her breeding.
I’m gonna go grab a bite while it’s still free choice eating around here....... until next month....
Page 25
Needless to say, until they get “Princess Annabelle” to stick to her new controlled eating plan, I am giving her a new name....she has became more of a “Brat”wurst than a Wiener dog. Emphasis on the “Brat!”

CHRISTIAN COWBOY COLLECTION
w/ Christa Conway
I’ve been told that my favorite way to start a sentence is with the two words: “I want....” And I will have to admit that from a very early age, I began to use those words together very frequently. (And I’ll also admit that I still do.....)
have told him....probably more times than I remember - but he remembers!
“Not What You Want - What You Need”
I still find myself wishful thinking about many things I would like to have, but probably more so - I find I use those words to describe the things I would like to do or accomplish. I sometimes even use those words when referring to others...”I want Vick to paint the barns...” (Vick just calls those additions to his “Honey Do List.”) Sometimes the “I wants” are as simple as a, “ I want to clean the house this weekend”, or as complicated as, “I want to try to make the NFR someday.” Talk about a wide range of wants! What I have been thinking a lot about the last couple of weeks comes down to this.... who knows better what we want? Who knows the desires of our hearts better than anyone? (Even better than ourselves!?!) Our Heavenly Father knows what we want. For one, he can here us (me included) when we are ranting about what we want to get done, get accomplished or just get a hold of! He can hear our verbal requests. But what is better is that he knows our true heart’s desires without us even having to verbalize them. And to take it one step further....he knows more importantly what we NEED. Here is a good way to think about this.... If a 15 year old son (with no driving
experience) asked his father for a new Corvette, would the father be wise to give into his son’s pleas for such a car?
Common Sense tells us (most of us:)) that would be a bad idea. Most of us would be concerned that the son could not handle such a car and may end up in an accident - hurting himself and maybe others....not to mention the car. What most responsible fathers would do is put the son in an older vehicle...one that is “bulkier,” heavier, not as potentially fast, or as tempting to use in a race, etc. This would give the son experience on the road under safer and less tempting conditions. Hopefully with time, the son would earn trust, experience and responsibility enough to work up to that sports car - hopefully through his own efforts and his own wallet. Definitely not as easy as having the father just give him the car, but if the son is not prepared to handle that which he is requesting....isn’t the father wise to wait until the son is prepared to receive? I think about this a lot in my daily life.... usually after I have asked for something from God (not a Corvette) and feel like I have been told to wait.....be patient. I immediately think - “what am I waiting for....” “What is it that I still have to learn before this prayer can be answered?” “What I am missing?” “What is there to gain from the wait?” All of these questions go running through my head and I have to remind myself that my heavenly father knows what I want. I
Last & most important thought… Salvation is a gift and a choice...... Jesus died on the cross as the final sacrifice. When He was resurrected on the 3rd day, he defeated Satan for us. All we have to do is believe that He beat death and acknowledge it with our words. If we believe that and accept Him as our personal savior…we are promised eternal life with Him in Heaven. You can’t earn your way into Heaven; you have to believe your way there. So many people think they “aren’t good enough” to get to Heaven… But… Salvation is a GIFT from God and you don’t earn a gift. Gifts are something someone gives to you and for the gift to be yours, you have to accept it. All we have to do is accept that wonderful gift. I know I have…won’t you?
Page 53
Then I have to tell myself this... “Whatever it is that I have told God I want is much less important at this time in my life than what it is that God knows I still need.” Once I remind myself of this - then I realize that there is something better in store for me! Better because it is what God has planned! If we can open our hearts and open our minds to accept that he will provide us with what we need to grow closer to him......then we will see that our requests may not be answered right away and even if we get a “NO”.... it would have to be for good reason. And here is my thought on why I would hear that “NO”...... maybe I would wreck my Corvette the first time I was to take it out for a drive. And wouldn’t that stink? So the next time you think you know what you want...and that it is the same as what you need....think again. God knows what we need AND when we need it.......and if we are willing to drive the old truck for a while - and appreciate it - then more than likely one day we will get to drive a new Corvette off the lot! Until next month.... If you try sometimes, you just might find....you get what you need!!! Happy Trails & God Bless! Christa
But the gift is not like the trespass. For if the many died by the trespass of the one man, how much more did God’s grace and the gift that came by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, overflow to the many. Romans 5:15 For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16 That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. Romans 10: 9-10

Mystery of the Month.... T his month is the time when a long time tradition takes place in the Midwest. The Midwest Match Race will be held in Cedar Rapids, Iowa in mid-October. States from across the Midwest have been sending teams of barrel racers to compete against each other for the title of Match Champion and possession of the Match Race trophy for well over 30 years now.
Our Mystery of the Month revolves around a Match Race from years past. These three young ladies were preparing to compete during what year’s race? Where was this race held? Who are these young ladies? and their horses? and where were they from? Tell us the correct identity of these ladies and win your choice of a one year subscription to The Horse Resource or a “Horsey-T!” Send us in your pictures from years past of a cowboy or cowgirl that someone else may be able to identify to win a Free subscription or “Horsey T.” And...KEEP those pictures coming!!! I’m running very low on the mystery pictures......and we don’t want to run out of fun. Whose picture would you love to see in here? Mail it in to us! We’ll return any originals that are sent regular mail....or email them to us at thehorseresource@msn.com. Good Luck!
We Have A Winner! This month’s winner is Kim Stalhiem. Kim knew the young cowboy in our September issue’s Mystery of the Month was Tom Mosley. Tom was shown with a horse the family called “Sugar Baby.” His career with horses started at a very young age and included barrel racing at one time. Tom is still very “hands-on,” training race horses year-around. These days you will most likely find Tom busy at one of the race tracks in his home state of Indiana. He is very active in the Quarter Horse Racing Association of Indiana (QHRAI) and is a former President of the organization. We did hear that this Mystery of the Month made quite the “buzz” around the race track. Kim chose to extend her subscription for another year as her prize for being our winner. Congrats, Kim! If you have a picture of a Cowgirl or Cowboy that you would like to see featured as our Mystery of the Month then send it via email to us at thehorseresource@msn.com or mail it to us at 12601 S. CR 200 W., Muncie, IN 47302. (ALL originals will be returned.)
Keep’em comin’! Thanks to those who have sent in Mystery Photos! Page 65
