The National Jewish Assembly is to hold a debate on the building a Holocaust Memorial near Parliament on September 11th. The Zoom discussion will be held for NJA members who will be able to speak in the debate. Gary Mond, NJA Chairman, said “This is a very important issue for the Jewish community and fully worthy of a comprehensive debate. Moreover, it should be a debate amongst friends. “I have the greatest of respect for those advocating both for and against locating a Holocaust memorial and learning centre near Parliament. Both groups want only the best for the future of Holocaust

remembrance and education, even though they might differ on the method of achieving this, and all of their views should be listened to and considered carefully.” Mond added, “What is most important is that the Jewish community as a whole, rather than just those who hold important communal positions, should have the opportunity to participate and make up their minds. It will also be helpful if those in positions of power who play any role in the final decision take note as to what is said.” The NJA will remain neutral in the debate.
