Eclectic Edge

When the groom plays in a band, killer music is a must. Case in point: Jenna Lee (30) and Les Priest (33 and a member of LANY) mixed a one-of-a-kind ceremony soundtrack. Jenna walked down the aisle to “Plainsong” by The Cure, then the couple recessed to Lana Del Rey’s “National Anthem.” The pair prioritized being true to their personalities. “We wanted the wedding to be a mirror of our everyday lives and to feel relaxed, classic and cool,” Jenna says. That intention translated to edgy details like structured arrangements, a black-and-white palette and a clean atmosphere. “I wanted the design to be the opposite of everything I’d ever seen at other weddings,” Jenna says. —Becky Murray

CENTERPIECES Maranta plants in black vases helped create a modern mood at the reception.

WEDDING PARTY Silk jumpsuits and black T-shirts kept their crew “sleek” and “casual,” Jenna says.

RING BEARERS The couple’s four nephews walked down the aisle in suspenders along with the flower girl, Jenna’s niece.

STATIONERY Minimal, flat-printed invites in coral and black coordinated with the geometric menu cards styled with a pop of pink.

BOUQUET Jenna carried areca palm, philodendron, phalaenopsis orchids and caladium tied off with raw-edge black silk ribbon.

CEREMONY The pair made it official under a neon sign of their newly shared last name, with areca palm, bird of paradise and elephant ear on display in brass planters. Les’s uncle officiated. FASHION Jenna finalized her gown just one week ahead of the wedding and paired it with her mom’s veil, modern white mules and a custom gold necklace.

LOUNGE SEATING Marble-patterned furniture made an appearance at the ceremony as extra seating and at cocktail hour alongside acrylic coffee tables. TABLE SETTINGS Jet-black accents, including taper candles, chairs, plates and vases, plus gold flatware and white linens, set a contemporary scene.

TRANSPORTATION Les picked up Jenna for their first date—mini golf and dinner—in his Volkswagen Beetle, making it the obvious choice for their exit ride.

COCKTAILS The bar served up a signature drink made with blackberry-sage lemonade and champagne. FOOD Nashville-style hot chicken bites and grilled polenta with feta, sun-dried tomato pesto and basil kicked off the party. The night ended with the newlyweds’ favorite local treat: strawberry doughnuts from Proper Bagel.
