Eclectic Edge

Elisa Mocci (30 and a destination wedding designer) and Stefano Marras (30 and a lawyer and fantasy writer) met as Scouts when they were 14 years old. After years of dating, they parted ways to pursue their careers. “We didn’t see each other for 12 years, then suddenly ran into each other in the street and fell in love again immediately,” Elisa says. Fitting for their out-of-this-world story line, the pair filled their celebration with fantastical details inspired by nature and Game of Thrones. Elisa even walked down the aisle to the show’s theme song. “As a planner, I work for the happiness of others,” Elisa says. “Once I understood that my wedding could be as weird as I wanted, planning became fun and simple.” —BM

FASHION Elisa paired her powder-pink gown with a custom cape and handmade tiara to achieve the look she calls, “romantic with a touch of medieval princess.”

CEREMONY The couple’s “arch,” covered in astrantia and roses, was built to resemble a camp tent. Stefano printed an excerpt from Patrick Rothfuss’s fantasy novel The Name of the Wind on parchment and stuck it to the willow tree with a handmade arrow for an even more personal touch. RITUALS After exchanging rings, the couple performed a handfasting ceremony and covered Stefano in Elisa’s veil. These Celtic traditions represented the bride’s love for Ireland. WEDDING PARTY The bridesmaids wore individualized burgundy gowns, while the guys donned “hand of the king” pins, a Game of Thrones reference. PROPS The garland-wrapped vintage peacock chair made for a chic photo booth.

STATIONERY A map of Westeros, a continent in Game of Thrones, lined burgundy envelopes.

TABLESCAPE Fall fruits, chestnuts, vintage gold candlesticks and antlers topped wooden tables. RECEPTION “I wanted the atmosphere to be integrated with the location and woods,” Elisa says. “The facade of the house was our tables’ backdrop.” FIRST DANCE The newlyweds spontaneously swayed to “Can’t Help Falling in Love” by Ingrid Michaelson and saved their original choice, “Wherever You Will Go” by Charlene Soraia, for later, when they got back to their room. “It made for an even better moment,” Elisa says. CAKE An eagle and a reindeer figurine, nodding to the couple’s animal totems in Scouts, topped the naked chocolate sponge cake. SNACK STATION Guests chose from candied apples, pretzels, nachos and other treats at the after-party.
