SUPPLIMENT ON STUDENTS IN UKRAINE
Some till stranded in cities of Sumy and Pisochyn of Ukraine
Hardeep Singh Foreign Correspondent India New Delhi/Chandigarh In a latest incident in Ukraine an Ukrainian boy was hit by a Russian shell as he played football with his friends. So even kids are not spared by the war zone. Sumy and Pisochyn are another areas where lot of students are still stranded with other nationalaties as well. Students have no water to drink as they are forcefully collecting ice so that can be used for water, No food for them at some places and even no hope for arrangements as well. They appeal Government of India to help them at the earliest. Although Government is trying their best to reach all of them but still lot of them are unapproachable. Some conversation transcripts are found, as they told that “many students are still stuck at Pishochyn… I got information from students there, they said whoever pays $500 is allowed to take bus and in cash only… 3 buses left since morning.” Some already asked Indian ministry of external affairs to clarify. ‘In Reality, the buses which left are privately send by the agents at their own risk for students who have paid. But some are saying differently, so there is no clarity, one student stuck in Ukraine opined. While leaving Ukraine at border, it’s found that even Ukrainian police at border misbehaved and harassed Indian students while leaving. On the other side, President of EU discussed on the situation with Ukrainian President and mentioned in her tweet that The EU will continue to support Ukraine with all the means at its disposal, and our first priority are safe humanitarian corridors.
