Child Immigration Detention is Not Only Wrong, It Is Ineffective TL Bureau, New York Today, the United Nations Network on Migration strongly reiterates its position that child immigration detention must be ended in every region of the world. Detention of children for immigration purposes - whether they are traveling alone or with their families – has been recognized as a child rights violation and can be highly damaging to their physical and psychological health and wellbeing. Detention of children based on their migratory status is thus never in their best interests. Communitybased programmes, case management and other human rights-based alternatives have proven highly effective and all governments should work to replace immigration detention

for children and families with appropriate reception and care arrangements. Studies consistently show that detention and family separation are traumatic

experiences that have a profound negative impact on children’s health and long-term cognitive and physical development. This harm can occur even

when the detention is of short duration, regardless of the conditions in which children are held, and even when children are detained with their families.

Oil Prices and World Oil costs hit their highest in four months when 2 attacks on Saudi Arabian facilities on Saturday knocked out quite five-hitters of world offer. At the beginning of mercantilism, brent goose crude jumped nineteen to $71.95 a barrel, whereas the opposite major benchmark, West American state Intermediate, rose 15 August 1945 to $63.34. Prices relieved back slightly when U.S. President Donald Trump authorised the discharge people reserves. It may take weeks before the Saudi facilities are absolutely back on line. State oil large Saudi Aramco aforementioned the attack cut output by five.7 million barrels per day. Attack on Saudis destabilises already volatile region The drone attacks on plants within the region of Saudi Arabia's industry enclosed striking the world's biggest petroleum-processing facility. US Secretary of State electroacoustic transducer Pompeo aforementioned Iranian capital was behind the attacks. Persia suspect the U.S. of "deceit." Later Mr Trump aforementioned during a tweet the U.S. knew the World Health Organization the offender was and was "locked and loaded" however waiting to listen to from the Saudis concerning however they wished to proceed. The well-tried oil reserves in Saudi Arabia are the ordinal largest within the world, calculable to be 268 billion barrels (43×109 m3) (Gbbl hereafter), together with two.5 Gbbl within the Saudi–Kuwait neutral zone. they're preponderantly found within the jap Province. These reserves were the most important within the world till South American country proclaimed they'd exaggerated their well-tried reserves to 297 Gbbl in January 2011. The Saudi reserves are concerning fifth part of the

EDITORIAL world's total typical oil reserves, an oversized fraction of those reserves comes from atiny low range of terribly large oil fields, and past production amounts to four-hundredth of the explicit reserves. In 2000, the U.S. geologic Survey calculable that remaining undiscovered oil reserves in Saudi Arabia had a probability-weighted average of ninety Gbbl. Saudi Arabia has historically been considered the world’s most vital swing producer of oil. once acting per se, the Saudi government would increase or decrease boring to take care of an additional stable worth. Saudi Arabia created ten.3 million barrels per day (1.6×106 m3/d) (Mbbl/d) in 1980, 10.6 Mbbl/d in 2006,and within the region of nine.2 Mbbl/d in two008. Saudi Arabia maintains the world’s largest petroleum production capability, calculable to be approx. eleven Mbbl/d at mid-year 2008 and proclaimed plans to extend this capability to twelve.5 Mbbl/d by 2009 accumulative production through the tip of 2009 was 119.4 billion barrel. exploitation the explicit range of 267 Gbbl, past production amounts to four-hundredth of the explicit remaining established reserves. As of 2016, Saudi Arabia accumulative boring reached 143.97 bbl. After the then U.S. president St. George W. Bush asked the Saudis to lift production on a visit to Saudi Arabia in January 2008 and that they declined, Bush questioned whether or not they had the power to lift production any further. within the summer of 2008, Saudi Arabia proclaimed a rise in planned production of five hundred,000 barrels per day. However, in 2008, thereforeme consultants believed that Saudi boring had already peaked or would do so within the close to future. In April 2015, the Saudi oil minister Ali Al-Naimi aforementioned that Saudi Arabia created twelve million barrels per day in March that year, that was the very best figure supported records since the first Nineteen Eighties. The previous peak was in August 2013 at ten.2 million barrels per day. Historically, Saudi Arabia has maintained reserves knowledge and connected technical data as a wellguarded secret. This created freelance verification of the Kingdom’s reserves and resources nearly not possible, going varied commentators and also the world at-large to depend upon speculation and indi-

rect indicators. However, a recent (2019) freelance analysis could modification that. In a 2004 study, Matthew Simmons analyzed two hundred technical papers on Saudi reserves by the Society of fossil fuel Engineers and finished that Saudi Arabia's boring faced close to term decline, which it'd not be ready to systematically turn out quite 2004 levels, once production of petroleum and lease atmospheric phenomenon averaged nine.10 million barrels per day. Simmons additionally argued that the Saudis could have irretrievably broken their massive oil fields by over-pumping salt water into the fields in a trial to take care of the fields' pressure and boost short-run oil extraction. He finished (in 2004): "In 2-3 years we'll have conclusive proof that Saudi oil is peaking,"Since his prediction, Saudi petroleum production has varied from as low as eight.25 million barrels per day (average for 2009) up to nine.83 million barrels per day (average for 2012). Overall, within the 9 years since his 2004 prediction (2005-2013), Saudi petroleum and lease atmospheric phenomenon production has averaged nine.20 million barrels per day, simply slightly above 2004 levels. These skeptical viewpoints are countered by events culminating in early 2019. during a news conference in capital of Saudi Arabia Saudi Arabia on January nine, 2019, Saudi Arabia Energy Minister, His important person (H.E.) Khalid Al-Falih formally pro-

claimed that DeGolyer and MacNaughton had completed the primary ever freelance analysis of established reserves for the dominion. The results of this effort indicate that the established reserves within the Kingdom are probably proximal to, and even somewhat larger than, previous official estimates. H.E. Khalid AlFalih made public the in depth effort in his remarks, stating that the method began in August 2016 and continued for nearly 2-1/2 years. DeGolyer and MacNaughton personnel (more than sixty geophysicists, petrophysicists, geologists, simulation engineers, reserves engineering specialists, and economists) designed the elaborated freelance analysis exploitation the in depth raw info from every of the wells and reservoirs within the evaluated reservoirs, applying their own techniques and methodologies to achieve the ensuing freelance estimate of established reserves. Reaction within the press to the freelance analysis was notable. for instance, Ellen Wald, international energy policy analyst, told CNBC that “Whether they need 260 or 266 billion barrels isn't extremely the difficulty,” she said. “The purpose is that they'd DeGolyer and MacNaughton, that could be a terribly revered supply, do associate degree audit…I assume it’s designed to place to rest the contestation that’s perpetually infested them since the publication of ‘Twilight within the Desert’.”

90,000 Australians make the call to help stamp out welfare, Medicare and Child Support fraud TL Bureau, Canberra The Department of Human Services received more than 90,000 public tip-offs about welfare, Medicare and Child Support fraud in the 2018-19 financial year. These acts of community service come as the Federal Government administers $184 billion in payments each year, about a third of total annual government expenditure. Each public tip-off is assessed by members of the Department’s specialist tip-off team. Importantly information can be provided anonymously online or on the phone and is handled in strict confidence and kept confidential. If evidence of criminal behaviour is found, the Department refers cases to the

Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions, which may lead to criminal charges and jail. ‘While the vast majority of people are honest and do the right thing there are a small number of people who abuse department services and get money for which they’re not eligible. Australians expect their Government to maintain the integrity of our highly targeted welfare system. Meeting fraud head on is vitally important,’ Minister Robert said. Public tip-offs are an important part of the suite of welfare integrity measures used by the Department including Digital Forensics Laboratories and Taskforce Integrity, which is a joint operation between the Department and the Australian Federal Police.

Since then, we have stood side by side in every major conflict since the First World War – in the defence of freedom, liberty and democracy. Our economic partnership is just as strong and this visit will further strengthen it. The United States is Australia’s largest economic partner. Investment between our two nations is worth more than $1.2

trillion, supporting hundreds of thousands of jobs. The Australia-US Free Trade Agreement itself is a shining example of our shared commitment to economic growth and prosperity – with our two way trade growing by almost 60 per cent since it was signed. However, our economic partnership is more than just trade. I will visit the NASA headquarters and welcome greater US-Australia cooperation on space, and other cutting-edge science and technology initiatives.

Remembering the vital role of Australia’s peacekeepers TL Bureau, Canberra The dedicated service of Australians on international peace operations is honoured today on National Peacekeeper and Peacemaker Day. Minister for Veterans and Defence Personnel Darren Chester encouraged all Australians to recognise the estimated 65,000 servicemen and woman who have been involved in over 50 peacekeeping operations worldwide since 1947. “Since Australia became involved in peacekeeping operations we have made an outstanding contribution, but tragically we have seen 16 lives lost in service of our country,” Mr

Chester said. “Peacekeeping operations in which Australia has been involved have lasted months, years or even decades, and have seen deployments ranging from small groups to substantial forces. “Traditionally, peacekeepers serve in countries that have been destroyed by war but they have also been required to keep peace during times of election and to clear and teach local authorities to clear landmines. “Australian peacekeepers have often served in hostile and volatile environments, including operations in Kashmir, Cyprus, the Middle East, East Timor, Cambodia, Rwanda and Bougainville.”

Your immune system protects you from many illnesses and infections, but it’s also possible for it to go into overdrive in response to an infection. The infection can affect anyone. An estimated 18,000 Australian adults are diagnosed with sepsis each year and around 5,000 will die. Sepsis develops when the chemicals the immune system releases into the bloodstream to fight an infection, cause inflammation throughout the entire body instead. World Sepsis Day aims to unite people worldwide in the fight against sepsis, and raise awareness of one of the biggest causes of preventable deaths worldwide.

TL Bureau, Brisbane In an unprecedented move, the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) has today banned two bulk carriers from Australian ports for breaching the most basic rights of seafarers. Media Release The Panama registered Fortune Genius in Gladstone and the Xing Jing Hai in Brisbane have been banned for a period of 12 months and 18 months respectively for failing to pay crew their wages in full and on time – a gross breach of the Maritime Labour Convention. On Thursday, 5 September AMSA surveyors boarded the Fortune Genius in Gladstone after receiving a complaint via the International Transport Workers’ Federation. AMSA’s investigation revealed the crew of the Fortune Genius had been deliberately under paid by the operator, New Fortune Genius Management, by about AUD

$100,000 for the months of April to August. The ship had been operating with two sets of wage accounts, one showing the amount of wages the crew should have been paid and the other showing what they had actually been paid. The ship was immediately detained. On Wednesday, 11 September AMSA surveyors boarded the Xing Jing Hai in Brisbane following similar complaints from the International Transport Workers’ Federation. The complaints related to unpaid crew wages and the operator, Dalian Ocean Prosperity International Ship Management, has previously been warned over unpaid wages with a sister ship, the Xing Ning Hai (see background over page). AMSA’s investigation revealed the crew of the Xing Jing Hai had been paid late for the months of May and June, while wages for July and August amounting to about AUD $140,000 were still outstanding.

New Zealand has a new story to tell, one that highlights the nation’s ingenuity, development of cuttingedge technology, and care for its people and place. The New Zealand Agritech Story provides a compelling way of promoting New Zealand’s agricultural technology internationally, to build awareness and preference for New Zealand solutions and ultimately help more New Zealand agritech businesses succeed on the world stage. The NZ Agritech Story, launched today, includes a comprehensive suite of free promotional materials that highlight New Zealand’s leading edge in the sector. Peter Wren-Hilton, the executive director of Agritech New Zealand, said the story would make a key difference for export companies. “The sector is highly competitive, with companies from around the world all promoting their products. The New Zealand Agritech Story will provide us with a distinctive voice, a way to engage with customers and communities and explain to them why Kiwi companies are different, both in the way we have developed our innovative

solutions and the way we operate as partners. “Agritech has a significant value for New Zealand’s export economy - it currently contributes about $1.5 billion to our export receipts – and campaigns like this will support its growth. “We’re excited to share the Story for the first time internationally this week as part of New Zealand’s presence at Ireland’s National Ploughing Championship, where we’ll also be showcasing some cutting edge Storytelling with the Agritech Mixed Reality experience.”

The development of the agritech story fits within the framework of the New Zealand Story and was informed by the gathering of comprehensive market insights, to better understand current perceptions of New Zealand agritech – areas of strength, weakness or possible misconceptions. The Story is designed to help respond to these issues. Central to the New Zealand Story is the Maori concept of Kaitiakitanga (guardianship, for people, place and planet) and how this sense of responsibility has inspired many of

our world-class agritech innovations. Aotearoa New Zealand has had a long history with agritech innovation from its first settlers. The early Maori pioneered agritech when they came to NZ and worked out ways to elongate the growing day using stones and rocks to soak up the warm of the sun and radiate it back into the soil. David Downs, the head of the all-of-government agritech taskforce which commissioned the Agritech Story, said the international research was the first step.

Report promoting Women, Peace Minister launches 50th Conservation Week - Nature needs us and Security in the Pacific TL Bureau, Wellington brought these precious birds

TL Bureau, Wellington

Samoa and New Zealand have released a Report from the Women, Peace and Security Summit co-hosted by the Samoan and New Zealand governments, 22-23 August in Apia. The Summit promoted the participation of women at all levels of peace and security governance in the Pacific. The Summit Report includes high level takeaways and broad recommendations to promote the Women, Peace and Security agenda and the rights of women and girls, particularly in conflict and post conflict situations. Samoan Prime Minister Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi emphasised the timeliness of

this Summit given the new and emerging threats from violent extremism, climate change, human trafficking, and unprecedented humanitarian crises, making our efforts to implement the women, peace, and security agenda more critical now than ever. “Our Blue Pacific region is placing high priority on the implementation of the Boe Declaration on Regional Security which looks at the expanded concept of security that allows for the linking our security agenda to the promotion of rights for women and girls, and the recognition of the key role they can play in peace and security,” Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi said.

The Minister of Conservation Eugenie Sage is celebrating 50 years of Conservation Week or Te Wiki Tiaki Ao Turoa and encouraging people to get involved in conservation. “We’ve come a long way since the first Conservation Week in 1969. Some of the biggest conservation triumphs include remarkable turnarounds in the populations of species that were on the verge of extinction,” Eugenie Sage said. “Fifty years ago, the Chatham Islands’ black robin, tieke/saddleback and kakapo were in dire straits, with dangerously low numbers. Intensive conservation work and dedicated people have

back from the brink. “This year’s theme “Nature needs us” highlights how much more we can do to secure native plants and wildlife and the places they live. “We have a global biodiversity crisis and that crisis is very real in New Zealand. More than 4,000 of our native plants and animals are threatened, or at risk of extinction, with introduced predators, rats, stoats and possums, being the biggest threat.” “These are long term challenges yet we’re making progress. I’m proud that since coming into government we’ve secured two record funding increases for the Department of Conservation to support nature.

BUSINESS 7 New World Bank Employment Deregulation good Project to Benefit 100,000 Youth for Australian small TL Bureau, WASHINGTON DC

The World Bank approved the Youth Employment Transformation Initiative (YETI) Project today to support the Government of Nepal in improving employment services and labor market outcomes for Nepali youth. The US$ 120 million project that aims to benefit 100,000 young people, especially women, will be implemented by the Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security over a period of five years. The project aligns with the Prime Minister Employment Program (PMEP). “The Youth Employment Transformation Initiative project is a catalyst in Nepal’s efforts to bring young people out of the cycle of poverty,” stated Idah Z. PswarayiRiddihough, World Bank Country Director for Nepal, Sri Lanka and Maldives. “While foreign employment has provided stable income for many rural families with remittances contributing about a quarter of Nepal’s GDP, this needs to be balanced by a stronger home-

grown supply of productive jobs for Nepali youth.” The project will work at the federal, provincial and local levels through an integrated set of demand and supply-side interventions to strengthen employment promotion systems and services and improve job outcomes and livelihoods for young men and women. YETI will support the 753 Employment Service Centers (ESCs) at the local level to provide employment promotion and employment support services for registered job seekers, and a holistic National Employment Management Information System (NEMIS) for management of data on job seekers and job-related opportunities, monitoring of progress of the project and PMEP, and evidence-based employment policy formulation. The project will create temporary employment opportunities in the maintenance of public assets and provision of services to engage up to 35,000 individuals and yield about 3.5 million work-days annually. World Bank Group Warns of Advance Fee Fraud Schemes Misrepresenting Its Name TL Bureau, WASHINGTON In light of a resurgence of "advance fee fraud schemes" misusing the World Bank Group’s name, the institution is warning against investment deals and advance fee schemes that fraudulently invoke the institution’s name or claim to be affiliated with the World Bank Group. Like many large organizations, we have seen increased use of sophisticated forms and letterhead that appear to be legitimate World Bank Group email correspondence or certificates. The World Bank’s name can be falsely invoked to give the scheme the appearance of authenticity and, in some cases, the wrongdoers may use the names of actual World Bank Group staff members to bolster the credibility of the scam. Advanced fee fraud schemes involve solicitations that encourage potential victims to provide personal information such as signatures or bank account information, and to pay certain advance fees, often described as "processing fees" or “finder’s fees”. In return, the potential

rary employment opportunities will be complemented by onthe-job and life skills trainings of up to 50 days per individual to improve the employability of young people in the long run. The project will also support capacity building initiatives to facilitate effective service delivery and coordination in the new federal structure while creating synergies with the private sector and existing projects to promote employment and employmentrelated services. In Nepal, most jobs are in the informal sector. According to the latest labor force survey, more than 900,000 people are looking for work and almost 70% of these job seekers are youth. While 11.4% of the Nepali population is unemployed, proportionally more young women are unemployed compared to men. By supporting the Prime Minister Employment Program, the YETI project will address existing gaps while complementing ongoing initiatives to ensure poor and vulnerable people benefit from Nepal’s labor market opportunities.

Westpac Group has regained its position as the nation’s most sustainable bank, ranked by the global 2019 Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) published today. It is the 18th year in a row that Westpac has been ranked amongst the global banking leadership group by the DJSI. Westpac Group CEO Brian Hartzer said it’s an honour see the Group’s sustainable business practices recognised in such a leading global benchmark. “To be named Australia’s most sustainable bank is reflective of the priorities we have set ourselves to be better and do better. “It demonstrates to our customers and communities that we are serious in our actions to help create a more sustainable future, something that is a great source of pride for our people.” This year, Westpac ranked 9th most sustainable bank globally and achieved a DJSI score of 83. In assessing Westpac's

performance, S&P Dow Jones Indices and RobecoSAM rated our performance strongest in the areas of Climate strategy, Environmental reporting, Social reporting, Financial inclusion and Corporate Citizenship and Philanthropy. “For example, over the past year we’ve increased our lending to climate change solutions to over $10 billion and launched our world first certified Green Tailored Deposit - an innovative solution for customers seeking an independently certified green investment product. We’ve also committed to source 100 per cent of our global electricity consumption from renewable sources by 2025. “We have continued to align ourselves with the Paris Agreement and the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and report against the recommendations of the Taskforce on Climate-related Disclosures (TCFD). “Over the last 12 months we have also activated a Customer Vulnerability Action

Plan, which has included priority care teams to assist our vulnerable customers affected by circumstances such as dementia, financial abuse, problem gambling and family violence. “We now have more than 20,000 employees who have been professionally trained around vulnerability to help our customers where they need it most.” The DJSI RobecoSAM Corporate Sustainability Assessment is one of the most widely accepted global evaluations of how companies manage and perform across social, economic and environmental dimensions and has become the reference point in sustainability investing. The assessment covers business management practices such as corporate governance, risk management, customer relations, brand management, human resources, corporate community investment, climate change mitigation and environmental performance.

Stanford students help produce a major work of art at the new Stanford Hospital Two Stanford undergraduates, both minoring in art practice, have helped paint a mural based on the drawings of the artist Sol LeWitt. The process provided the students with insight into how the visual environment can influence health. TL Bureau BY ROBIN WANDER Students Noah DeWald and Savannah Mohacsi were not exactly sure what their summer internship at Stanford Health Care would entail. Apprenticing with master painters to bring to life a conceptual work of art by an iconic 20th-century American artist that will be seen by thousands was beyond their imagination, as was the profound realization that art can contribute to the healing process. DeWald and Mohacsi’s project was to execute an 18-by-10-foot mural designed by Sol LeWitt (1928–2007). It is one of seven commissioned works at the new Stanford Hospital, and the only one that is essentially a set of instructions. LeWitt was a conceptual artist who challenged the traditional notion that art had to manifest physically for it to be art. Therefore, some of his art pieces are simply an idea or concept without a form. When Wall Drawing #911 was acquired for the hospital, it was essentially a certificate for the design and the rights to paint it according to mathematical adjustments to fit a particular space. The space is a prominent third floor wall of the hospital, viewable from the entrance of the expansive atrium lobby. The execution team consisted of the two interns working under master painters Lexie Bouwsma and Gabriel Hurier, who have experience installing LeWitt’s wall drawings. It was essential to the painting process that the project be guided by their expertise so that the artist’s original idea would be accurately conceived through his methods. The mural was originally designed in 1999 and has only been painted on one other occasion at the Marian Goodman Gallery, New York. It required 75 rolls of masking tape and 24 days of meticulous and steady hand painting, sanding and layering to complete. The acquisition of the work and installation was generously underwritten through

Senior Savannah Mohacsi, master painter Lexie Bouwsma and junior Noah DeWald work to execute Wall Drawing #911 by Sol LeWitt. (Image credit: Courtesy Stanford Health Care) the support of Carolyn and Preston Butcher. Senior Mohacsi, who is majoring in human biology and minoring in art practice, said she often looks for ways for her interest in medicine to intersect with her art. She explores ways to use art to understand and present the intricacies of human physiology, and sees art as a vehicle for self-reflection and healing. She said of her internship experience: “Being able to create this mural in a hospital space has allowed my artistic skills to serve a greater purpose, knowing that patients and families who are experiencing the most challenging and emotional times will be able to look to the LeWitt mural for a brief moment of refuge and experience the unexpected brilliance that the piece exudes from its colorful geometric array.” Additionally, Mohacsi is studying how the mind and body shapes human experience and her internship has prompted her to think about “how art can serve as a medium for our minds to reflect on our experiences, and in turn that can reflect how we feel in our bodies and our health.” DeWald, a junior majoring in computer science and minoring in art practice, had prior experience with mural making, but he had never col-

laborated with other artists on a project of this scale. Painting a largescale public piece has been a longstanding dream of his. “To me, there is something special about artworks in public spaces that people can see and interact with. This internship has been such a unique opportunity to explore that type of art,” he said. “I’ve seen plenty of art in museums and exhibitions, but I had never fully considered the role of art in hospitals before. After working on this project and seeing how much effort goes into the art program here, I’ve been able to learn so much about how art can benefit the healing process.” Becoming intimately familiar with the seven floors of the new hospital over the summer, DeWald observed that well-placed artworks can have a profound impact on patients and hospital staff. In a hospital where people will see the same artworks day after day, he believes that a different kind of thought process is required to make sure that these works resonate with people after repeated viewings. “That’s why I have so much respect for artists who really think about the placement and purpose of their art.” Mohacsi concurs. “As a pre-med student, I’ve spent a fair amount of time shadowing doctors. This summer, I still shadowed in the hospital, but for

placement of art. I was following Connie Wolf, who oversees the art program, through the hospital as she was planning installations, and I couldn’t help but think about how she was ‘diagnosing’ the space and formulating her ‘treatment’ for what artworks would best suit the room, as well as how people will engage with the pieces. I will never take for granted art installation after this internship because you really have to understand that the art you install has to accommodate the diverse backgrounds of people that will come into the space, which is no simple task.” The hospital leadership recognized that art can be an integral part of the healing process early on, so artwork throughout the facility was always a part of the master plan. The collection of over 400 works of art installed inside and outside the new Stanford Hospital were donated or acquired with private monetary donations. There are also two significant loans from the San Francisco Asian Art Museum and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. The entire art program is led by an all-volunteer art commission chaired by Linda Meier, ’61, member of the Stanford Health Care Board of Directors and former member of the Stanford Board of Trustees, and directed by Connie Wolf, ’81, former director of the Cantor Arts Center.

At the conclusion of the 23rd General Assembly in St Petersburg, Member States of the United Nations specialized agency for tourism, were asked to choose between Morocco, Kenya and the Philippines. All three Member States had presented their candidatures over the preceding days, highlighting their commitment to accessibility and sustainability and for using tourism as a driver for job creation and economic growth for all. The 24th Session of the General Assembly will be held in the city

of Marrakesh in 2021, with the exact dates to be confirmed. UNWTO General-Secretary Zurab Pololikashvili said: “I offer my warmest congratulations to Morocco. They are a long-standing ally of UNWTO and at this General Assembly they clearly demonstrated how the Kingdom has embraced tourism as a driver of positive change over the past few decades. Morocco also showed it has the infrastructure and the commitment necessary to host the most important highlevel even for the global tourism

sector. At the same time, I thank both Kenya and the Philippines for their candidatures. Both presented exceptionally strong cases.” For the first time at a UNWTO General Assembly, Member States used an anonymous electronic voting system, with one vote per Member State. Monterey, Calif. The ninth round of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America got underway under gleaming Northern California skies at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, with Saturday’s first race of the doubleheader weekend shining just as bright with competition. Pole sitter Richard Antinucci got the jump at the start of the 50minute race, pulling the No. 29 Change Racing, Lamborghini Charlotte ahead of the charging No. 46 Precision Performance Motorsports, Lamborghini Palm Beach driven by Brandon Gdovic. After slipping from second to fifth on the start, Sandy Mitchell (No. 1 Prestige Performance/Wayne Taylor Racing, Lamborghini Paramus) locked into an early battle for fourth place with Steven Aghakhani (No. 6 US RaceTronics, Lamborghini Beverly Hills). After jockeying for more than five laps, Mitchell finally got by Aghakhani for position on Lap 10, shortly before the mandatory pit window opened. Gdovic led the first group of drivers to pit lane on Lap 14, turning

the No. 46 over to co-driver Conor Daly. Antinucci made his stop a lap later, with Corey Lewis taking the wheel of the No. 29. Following the pit exchange, Daly came out ahead and waited for the complete pit cycle to finish before assuming the race lead on Lap 19 when Dani Clos made his pit stop in the No. 69 Prestige Performance/Wayne Taylor Racing, Lamborghini Paramus and handed the car over to William Hubbell. From there, the battles began to take shape in each of the four classes. Daly, Lewis and Andrea Amici (No. 1) ran together in formation at the front of the Pro class and the overall field. Lewis closed within the rear bumper of Daly on a few occasions but couldn’t muster the momentum to complete the overtake for the

TL Bureau, Fitzroy The NSW Swifts are the 2019 Suncorp Super Netball Champions after beating the Sunshine Coast Lightning 64goals to 47 at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre on Sunday. It was a dominant performance by the underdog-Swifts, who controlled the match from the opening whistle and finished the game with a spectacular 18-goal to 10 final quarter to seal the 17goal win. The Swifts were sharp early and seemed to settle into the big match first, jumping out to a sixgoal lead at the midway point of the opening term. They frustrated the normally fast-moving Lightning with their patient ball movement and ruthless finishing, waiting for options to open up and pouncing on them. When Nissan Player of the Match Sam Wallace’s 11th first quarter goal extended the lead to seven, and with the Lightning offence sputtering, Lightning head coach Noeline Taurua swapped out Steph Wood for Peace Proscovia.

At its most extreme, violent radicalisation can result in terrorist acts. In Finland, the risk of violent radicalisation and extremism is still small in comparison with many other countries. However, the threat has been on the increase in recent years. "The danger of violent radicalisation has grown, as the field has undergone changes. New threats have emerged alongside

Preventive measures must constantly be enhanced to anticipate such new threats. This conference will take stock of the work done so far, looking at it from different angles, to have an idea of where we are now in the prevention of violent radicalisation and how we could further intensify our efforts," says Head of Development Tarja Mankkinen from the Ministry of the Interior.
