The Royston Picture Palace Story As early as 2009, a specific initiative was emerging to re-introduce cinema to Royston. After many discussions, Royston Town Council and the town’s businesses (via Royston First, the town’s Business Improvement District), agreed to work in partnership to install a Community Cinema in the Town Hall. The Town Council refurbished the building whilst Royston First provided the cinema equipment. Of course, introducing 21st century technology into a Victorian building was no mean feat, but in the summer of 2013 the Royston Picture Palace opened its doors to much acclaim. The Royston Picture Palace is run by volunteers and performances take place on Friday and Saturday evenings, and occasional Saturday matinees, providing excellent value, quality entertainment for local people, just a few weeks after main release dates. Tickets £7.50 Concessions £5.50
