Welcome to the Royston Picture Palace
We kick off July and August with everyone’s favourite Meryl Streep as you have never seen her before, supported by the quite brilliant Hugh Grant in the extremely entertaining Florence Foster Jenkins. Look out for some favourite characters, perhaps Red, perhaps Bomb in the zany Angry Birds, for big kids of all ages. Fans of Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy will just love Damian Lewis and Ewan McGregor in the spy thriller Our Kind of Traitor, then we kick off the first of our Thoughtful Thursdays with the very revealing The Divide, with Banks, Bowls and Bingo and a cast of legends in Golden Years up next. You have two chances to see the amazing Jungle Book on the Saturday. Swoon over both George Clooney and Jack O’Connell in Money Monster, and then fight off an apocalypse with the X Men. We then have what we are affectionately calling our music weekend with Tom Hiddlestone in I Saw the Light and what is my personal favourite film of the year so far, the tap along, sing along, smile along Sing Street. And it doesn’t stop there with August just as good, Whit Stillman’s witty adaptation of the Jane Austen work Love & Friendship to start us off. And then there’s another chance to see Florence Foster Jenkins if you can’t catch it in July. Fun fact there is never such a thing as a bad Tom Hanks film and A Hologram for the King, keeps that stat going. Our Thoughtful Thursday in August is Oscar winner Son of Saul. One of the most iconic meetings is portrayed by Kevin Spacey and Michael Shannon in Elvis & Nixon, with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles coming out of the shadows for two extra kids matinees to help you survive the long summer holidays, with The Secret Life of Pets the following Saturday.
