Welcome to Royston Arts Festival 2015, brought to you by Creative Royston. This year’s festival carries the theme ‘Illumination’ and so we’re delighted to be shining a light on all the fabulous creative activity which goes on in the town. In this programme you’ll find over 40 events, exhibitions and workshops taking place at different locations around Royston between 18th and 27th September. You’ll see there is something for everyone with brand new events including Royston Music Fest ‘15 - a youth music gig at the Old Bull (page 9) and The Poetry Joe Show for children aged 3 and up and their families (page 12). It’s not just at the festival itself where the creativity happens; between June and September we have been working with Hertfordshire based light artist Lorna Carmen McNeill to create a ‘Tree of Light’ installation with children at seven Royston Schools. This installation will be exhibited in the window of Royston Library on 19th and 20th September, see page 8 for details. As always we couldn’t manage Royston Arts Festival without the support of our volunteers, partners and funders, so a huge thank you to them all. Thank you also to Jennie Verleg who won our Cover Image Competition and created the wonderful image you see on the front of this programme. I hope you will enjoy exploring all Royston Arts Festival 2015 has to offer and that it proves to be the highlight of your year!

Special Thanks The Royston Arts Festival would not have been possible without the hard work of many local people and organisations. We would particularly like to thank: Terry and Sue Hartga for photographing the festival events. Royston’s First, Middle and Upper Schools, The Library and artist Lorna Carmen McNeill for their hard work on the ‘Tree of Light’. Royston First for the bunting displayed in the town and their help with the busking. Matt Bowmer and The Listing Team for their work on this programme. Royston Town Council for use of their Meeting Room. Last, but not least all the volunteers who give their time to help us run the events during and in the lead-up to the festival.
