Recycling is a way of life in Marin, yet waste from even a small construction project can wipe out the benefits of years of recycling and composting at home and at work. Whether taking on a remodeling project as a homeowner or through a contractor, it is easy to ensure the materials are reclaimed through deconstruction, reuse, repurposing, or recycling. State and local laws require diverting at least 65% of construction and demolition (C&D) materials. The requirement is enforced when you request a building permit from your city, town, or the county.
