ITS OFFICERS ARE HIGH SCHOOL LEADERS ELECTED BY THE MEMBERS AT DISTRICT AND INTERNATIONAL CONVENTIONS.

SANTA IN THE PARK THE ONLY WAY TO START THE SEASON OF JOY IS BY HELPING OTHERS. DECEMBER IS BY FAR THE BEST TIME OF THE YEAR BECAUSE CHRISTMAS IS THE BEST HOLIDAY OF THE YEAR. THIS HAS BEEN MY SECOND TIME GOING TO THE SANTA IN PARK AND TO DESCRIBE IT IN ONE WORD: AMAZING. IT’S ONE OF MY FAVORITE PARTS OF BEING A KEY CLUBBER. I ALWAYS LIKE HELPING OUT AND MAKING CHILDREN HAPPY. CHILDREN ALL AROUND THE BOROUGH COME TO THIS ANNUAL EVENT TO TAKE A PICTURE WITH SANTA, DO ARTS AND CRAFTS AND EAT DELICIOUS CANDY. SANTA IN THE PARK IS SOMETHING THAT IS A EVEN THE PARENTS ENJOY. THIS YEAR I WAS IN CHARGE OF HELPING OUT AT A STATION WHICH KIDS MAKE THEIR OWN MASKS. THE KIDS CAN MAKE THEIR OWN SANTA CLAUS, REINDEER, SNOWMAN, BUTTERFLY, PRINCESS, ROBOT AND PIRATES MASKS. NOT ONLY DOES IT BRING JOY TO THEM BUT IT ALSO DEFINES WHAT CHRISTMAS IS ALL ABOUT: HELPING AND BRINGING JOY TO OTHERS. - ROSLYN SALAS MEMBER
THE SANTA IN THE PARK WAS A VERY JOLLY EVENT WITH MANY KIDS SMILING FROM EAR TO EAR, FAMILIES SPENDING THEIR TIME TOGETHER, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY TAKING PICTURES WITH SANTA. I ENJOYED WORKING WITH THE KIDS BECAUSE IT WAS INTERESTING TO SEE THEIR DIFFERENT TYPES OF CUSTOMIZED GINGERBREAD MEN AND SNOWMEN AS THEY SHOWED IT TO THEIR PARENTS WITH THE BIGGEST SMILES. THIS EVENT ALSO TAUGHT ME TO WORK EFFICIENTLY WITH FELLOW KEY CLUBBERS. OVERALL, IT WAS A FUN EXPERIENCE AND IT MADE MY DAY TO SEE THE KIDS AND PARENTS ENJOYING THE HOLIDAY. - LEON GROYSMAN MEMBER
THE WINTER COLD AIR SWAYING ALL THE MARINE PARK TREE’S. CHILDREN RUNNING INTO THE PARK ONLY TO SEE SANTA. WHILE ADULTS AND HIGH SCHOOLERS HELPING KIDS AND THEIR PARENTS HAVE AN INCREDIBLE TIME. THERE WERE LITTLE HIGH SCHOOL ELVES GIVING TATTOOS TO LITTLE CHILDREN ONLY TO SPREAD THE HOLIDAY JOY. OTHER ELVES IN CREATIVE STATIONS PUTTING SMILES ON CHILDREN’S FACES. WHILE OTHERS ARE HELPING ANIMALS SUCH AS OUR SPECIAL BIRD FRIENDS AT OUR COMMUNITY PARK. I FELT SPECIAL BEING PART OF THIS JOURNEY. CHILDREN COMING TO OUR TABLE SO QUICKLY TO WRAP ICE CREAM CONES WITH PEANUT BUTTER AND BIRD SEED, ONLY SO THEY COULD RUN OUTSIDE TO HANG THEM ON TREES. MORE PEOPLE PASSING OUT CHOCOLATE AND FUN BALLOONS ONLY TO SEE EVERYONE'S EYES LIGHT UP. PARENTS HELPING OUR COMMUNITY THROUGH CHARITIES AND PARTICIPATING IN EVENTS. THEY HAVE OVERJOYED THEMSELVES WHEN LINING UP TO TAKE A PICTURE WITH SANTA AS A FAMILY. EVERYONE WAS HAVING A BLAST DOING ACTIVITIES TOGETHER. AFTER ALL, THAT IS WHAT THE HOLIDAYS ARE ABOUT, GIVING BACK AND ENJOYING QUALITY TIME WITH THE PEOPLE YOU LOVE. THIS WORKSHOP WAS VERY SUCCESSFUL AND MORE EVENTS LIKE THESE WOULD BRING OUR COMMUNITY CLOSER TOGETHER, LIKE ONE HAPPY FAMILY;) - MOHINA ABDULLAEVA MEMBER
MEALS FOR THE HOMELESS THE "MEALS FOR THE HOMELESS" EVENT STARTED OFF WITH RAPID PREPARATION FOR THE MEALS AND THE AESTHETICS OF THE PLACE. WIPING DOWN CHAIRS AND PREPARING THE FOOD HAPPENED REALLY QUICKLY AS MANY PEOPLE CAME TO HELP OUT. SITTING DOWN AND DRAWING WITH YOUR FRIENDS IS PRETTY FUN... UNLESS THEY WERE FUSSING ABOUT HOW THEIR PICTURE DIDN'T LOOK ANYTHING LIKE HOW THEY PICTURED IT (HAHA JOKES). THE MANY DRAWINGS CREATED A FRIENDLY AND FESTIVE ENVIRONMENT. BEFORE EVEN SERVING THE FOOD, WE GATHERED AROUND, TALKED ABOUT PLANS AND SOON MANY PEOPLE WERE COMING AND GETTING A DELICIOUS MEAL. WHAT SEEMED TO BE A SERIOUS MINDSET, TURNED INTO A MORE RELAXING AND PLAYFUL ONE. WHILE SERVING, WE WERE ABLE TO BOND WITH ONE ANOTHER, DESPITE NOT KNOWING THEIR NAMES. MAKING A FEW JOKES HERE AND THERE REALLY LIGHTENS THE ATMOSPHERE. IN THE BEGINNING, IT WAS ALL ABOUT A GREAT TIME EVEN THOUGH WE WERE SET IN OUR MISSION TO SERVE WARM FOOD TO THOSE IN NEED. OVERALL, THIS EVENT HAD ALMOST EVERYONE BECOME MORE SOCIAL WITH ONE ANOTHER. WE MADE JOKES, TALKED ABOUT OUR HOBBIES AND INTERESTS ALONG WITH MANY ROUNDS OF UNO AND POKER AFTER THE HARD WORK. I HOPE THAT THERE ARE SIMILAR EVENTS IN THE FOLLOWING YEAR. - ANGIE LIU MEMBER
THE SOUP KITCHEN WAS AN ENLIGHTENING EXPERIENCE. LIVING IN NEW YORK CITY WE CONSTANTLY SEE PEOPLE WHO ARE LESS FORTUNATE THAN US, WHETHER IT IS ON A CITY STREET CORNER OR ON THE TRAIN. HOW MANY TIMES HAS SOMEONE STOPPED TO GIVE THEM FOOD OR START A SMALL CONVERSATION WITH THEM? THE SOUP KITCHEN WAS THE CHANCE FOR US TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE FOR HOMELESS PEOPLE.OUR DAY STARTED AT 10:00 ON A NICE SATURDAY MORNING. WE WENT TO THE FOURTH FLOOR TO HELP SET UP FOR LUNCH WHILE THE PEOPLE WE WOULD BE SERVING WATCHED A MOVIE DOWNSTAIRS. ALONG WITH OTHER VOLUNTEERS WE SET UP TABLES AND CHAIRS. THEN WE WERE ASSIGNED TO GO DOWNSTAIRS AND SERVE SNACKS TO THOSE WATCHING THE MOVIE. WE SERVED COFFEE, ICED TEA, EGGNOG, AND COOKIES AND WHILE SERVING THEM WE HAD A CHANCE TO MAKE SMALL TALK. IT WAS AMAZING TO SEE EVERYONE COME TOGETHER AND BE SO HAPPY ESPECIALLY SO CLOSE TO THE HOLIDAY. THE THANKFULNESS IN THEIR EYES AND HOPE MADE ME FEEL GOOD ABOUT SACRIFICING MY DAY TO GIVE MY TIME TO THE PEOPLE. I AM APPRECIATIVE AND FEEL BLESSED FOR WHAT I HAVE, YET TODAY MADE ME REALIZE JUST HOW LUCKY I AM TO HAVE MY FAMILY, FRIENDS, AND HEALTH. AFTER AWHILE OF SERVING SNACKS WE WENT UPSTAIRS AND IT WAS LIKE WALKING INTO WINTER WONDERLAND. THE WHOLE ROOM WAS DECORATED WITH DRAWINGS MADE BY THE OTHER VOLUNTEERS, YOUNG AND OLD. WE CONTRIBUTED WITH OUR OWN DRAWINGS AS WE LAUGHED AND SHARED STORIES. AS LUNCH ROLLED AROUND WE PREPARED OURSELVES TO SERVE THE LARGE CROWD. THE FOOD SMELLED SO DELICIOUS AS EVERYONE DUG INTO THEIR MEALS. WE THEN HELPED CLEAN DISHES WHILE OTHERS SERVED DESSERT WHICH WAS PEARS. OVERALL, OUR DAY WAS VERY SUCCESSFUL AND FUN. WE WERE ABLE TO HELP PEOPLE THAT WERE LESS FORTUNATE AND SEE THEIR FACES LIGHT UP WITH HAPPINESS AND CONTENTMENT. IT WAS A GREAT DAY AND I CAN’T WAIT TO DO IT AGAIN! - MEGHAN STERN MEMBER
DECEMBER DIVISIONAL ON TUESDAY, DECEMBER 11 KEY CLUB ATTENDED THE DECEMBER DIVISIONAL AT JAMES MADISON HIGH SCHOOL. LIKEWISE TO ALL OTHER DIVISIONS, I LISTENED TO IMPORTANT INFORMATION FROM OUR LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR FLORA AND HAD THE CHANCE TO INTERACT WITH THE REST DIVISION 9. THIS DIVISIONAL WAS ESPECIALLY INTERESTING BECAUSE WE WERE GREETED WITH NEW FACES FROM NUMEROUS KEY CLUBS. ALSO, AT THIS DIVISIONAL, I WATCHED A PROMOTIONAL VIDEO ON THE 2019 LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE IN ALBANY. OVERALL, THE DECEMBER DIVISIONAL WAS A GREAT WAY TO GET READY FOR WINTER BREAK AND THE NEW YEAR!

OPERATION CHRISTMAS SMILIES VOLENTEERING WITH KEY CLUB FOR THE CHRISTMAS SMILES EVENT WAS THE FIRST TIME I VOLUNTEERED SINCE THE SUMMER. THE SCHOOL YEAR HAS ALREADY BEEN SO QUICK AND CHAOTIC IT DRAINS THE ENERGY OUT OF ME. DECIDING TO GO LAST MINUTE TO THE CHIRSTMAS SMILES EVENT REMINDED ME OF HOW FUN HELPING OUT CAN BE. WE WERE ALL ASSIGNED ROLES, I HAD THE JOB OF OVERLOOKING AND HELPING THE KIDS AND PARENTS RECIEVE TOYS. IT WAS REALLY FUN TO SEE HOW EXCITED THE PARENTS WERE FOR THE KIDS AND HOW HAPPY THE KIDS WERE TO SEE SUCH A LARGE ARRAY OF TOYS. EVERYONE WAS THRIVING IN THE CHAOTIC ENERGY. TOWARDS THE END EVERYBODY CONVERSED WITH ONE ANOTHER CREATING A FRIENDLY ENVIRONMENT. - MAYLYN MEI MEMBER
THIS EVENT WAS DEFINITELY ONE OF MY FAVORITE ONES SO FAR. IT WAS AN AMAZING WAY TO PUT SMILES ON LITTLE KIDS’ FACES WITH FREE PRESENTS. WE WERE ABLE TO PROVIDE PRESENTS TO SO MANY CHILDREN, THAT THE LINES WENT DOWN THE WHOLE STREET. A LOT OF EFFORT WAS MADE TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN- FROM THE MANY HELPERS, TO THE GUY WHO DRESSED UP AS SANTA! MOST IMPORTANTLY, THE KIDS LOVED THE FACT THAT THEY GOT TO CHOOSE THEIR TOYS AND WERE ABLE TO PLAY WITH THEM, AND KEEP THEM. MANY OF THE PARENTS COULDN’T BELIEVE THE AMOUNT OF TOYS THEIR CHILDREN COULD RECEIVE. OVERALL, IT WAS A FUN DAY, AND A GREAT WAY TO HELP OTHERS DURING CHRISTMAS TIME. - SAMANTHA LEUNG MEMBER
WRECK IT RALPH MOVIE FUNDRAISER FUNDRAISING EVENTS ARE THE BEST. ANIMATED MOVIES ARE AMAZING. SO, WHATS NOT TO LOVE ABOUT A MOVIE FUNDRAISER? A FEW WEEKS AGO, I WENT TO THE RALPH BREAKS THE INTERNET MOVIE FUNDRAISER. IT WAS DRIZZLING A LITTLE BIT BUT ALTOGETHER THE WEATHER WAS REALLY NICE. IT WASNT TOO COLD AND IT WASNT TOO HOT. I GOT THERE EARLY SO I DID HAVE TO WAIT AWHILE, BUT EVENTUALLY WE DID GO INSIDE TO FIND A SEAT WITH OUR POPCORN AND SODA. THE MOVIE ITSELF WAS AMAZING, I WOULD WATCH IT OVER AGAIN IF I COULD. AFTER THE MOVIE EVERYONE GATHERED AROUND FOR A PICTURE. IN GENERAL THE EVENT WAS PRETTY COOL AND CHILL, I HAD A GREAT SUNDAY AND ILL DEFINETLY THINK ABOUT GOING TO ANOTHER MOVIE FUNDRAISER IN THE FUTURE WHEN IM NOT BROKE. - SAMMI LIN MEMBER
