IN 1976, THE PROGRAM CHANGED ITS MOTTO TO, “CARING—OURWAY OF LIFE,” TO MORE CLEARLY CONVEY MEMBERS’ REASONS FOR HELPING OTHERS. DUES PAID BY EVERY MEMBER FUND KEY CLUB. ITS OFFICERS ARE HIGH SCHOOL LEADERS ELECTED BY THE MEMBERS AT DISTRICT AND INTERNATIONAL CONVENTIONS.

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE WHAT’S POPPIN HORNETS, I CAN’T BELIEVE THAT THE SCHOOL YEAR IS OVER ALREADY. I FEEL LIKE JUST YESTERDAY I CAME INTO THE SCHOOL HOPING I GET CLASSES WITH MY FRIENDS. PLENTY HAS HAPPENED SINCE THE START OF THIS SERVICE YEAR. FOR INSTANCE, OUR CLUB IS ON TRACK TO BEAT THE PREVIOUS YEARS SERVICE HOUR RECORD AND FUNDRAISING QUANTITIES. I AM VEHEMENTLY PROUD OF YOU GUYS FOR BECOMING MUCH MORE ACTIVE THESE PAST COUPLE MONTHS AND JUST MAKING THE MIDWOOD KEY CLUB THE BEST CLUB IN THE SCHOOL (NO SHADE). I’M JUST SO GRATEFUL TO BE ABLE TO LEAD THIS CLUB AND TO BE SURROUNDED BY ALL OF YOU AMAZING KIND HEARTED PEOPLE. IN THE END, KEY CLUB WOULDN’T BE KEY CLUB WITHOUT ALL OF YOU! THANK YOU FOR A WONDERFUL 3 MONTHS AND I LOOK FORWARD TO THE CONTINUATION OF THE SERVICE YEAR AFTER SUMMER VACATION. KEEP IN MIND MY LOVES, KEY CLUB IS STILL VERY MUCH ACTIVE DURING THE SUMMER. THERE ARE PLENTY OF EVENTS COMING UP, LIKE THE FIGMENT ART FESTIVAL AND THE DIVISION TRAINING CONFERENCE. I’M HELLA EXCITED TO SEE ALL OF YOU IN SEPTEMBER, AND HOPEFULLY MANY MORE NEW PROSPECTIVE MEMBERS. LETS KEEP MIDWOOD KEY CLUB GREAT! JONATHAN LI PRESIDENT

MAY DIVISIONAL THIS DIVISIONAL WAS HELD AT MIDWOOD'S OWN COURTROOM WHERE WE DISCUSSED PAST AND FUTURE EVENTS WITH ALL THE OTHER CLUBS IN DIVISION 9. DURING THIS DIVISIONAL, WE WERE ABLE TO SEE ALL THE EVENTS THE CLUBS IN DIVISION 9 PREVIOUSLY HAD AND WILL HAVE. ATTENDING THIS DIVISIONAL, AS WELL AS OTHERS TO COME, ARE VERY IMPORTANT IN ALLOWING YOU TO MEET PEOPLE IN DIFFERENT HIGH SCHOOL CLUBS, AS WELL AS OTHERS ON THE DIVISIONAL BOARD AND MORE. THIS DIVISIONAL WAS EXTRA SPECIAL AS WE WERE ABLE TO PLAY ICEBREAKERS TO GET TO KNOW ONE ANOTHER BETTER! AMONG THEM, WAS AN ICEBREAKER WHERE WE WERE RANDOMLY SEPARATED INTO GROUPS AND OUR MISSION WAS TO POP THE OTHER TEAMS' BALLOON. WE ALSO RAISED AWARENESS FOR ONE KEY CLUBBER IN PARTICULAR NAMED JENNY CHOI, WHO HAS DEVOTED SO MUCH OF HER TIME TO HELPING OTHERS - AND NOW NEEDS HELP FROM US HERSELF.

JAPAN DAY JAPAN DAY WAS A REALLY FUN EXPERIENCE FOR ME. THEY HAD MANY TYPES OF ACTIVITIES THAT WERE SET UP IN TENTS THAT WERE ALL RELATED TO JAPANESE CULTURE. IT WAS ALSO REALLY INTERESTING TO SEE MANY PEOPLE OF DIFFERENT CULTURES GATHERING TO LEARN ABOUT JAPANESE CULTURE. OVERALL, I HAD A GREAT TIME! - JADEN THOMAS OFFICER

KAITLYN BEINHARDT BOWLING FUNDRAISER WHEN I FIRST ARRIVED AT THE LOCATION, I WAS GREETED BY THOSE WHO WERE IN CHARGE OF THE FUNDRAISER. THEY WERE ALL VERY FRIENDLY AND POLITE. ALTHOUGH THAT DAY WAS EXTREMELY HOT, THERE WAS AIR CONDITIONING INSIDE! I GOT TO BOWL WITH FRIENDS WHOM I DON’T GET TO HANG OUT WITH OFTEN, WHICH WAS GREAT. I ESPECIALLY ENJOYED THE FACT THAT WE GOT TO BOWL FOR AN HOUR, BECAUSE IT HAS BEEN SO LONG SINCE I HAVE GONE BOWLING. AFTER THE HOUR WAS UP, WE GOT TO EAT. PERSONALLY, I REALLY LIKED THE FACT THAT THERE WAS AN ARCADE WITH SOME FUN GAMES THAT BROUGHT ME BACK TO MY CHILDHOOD, LIKE AIR HOCKEY! OVERALL, IT WAS A FUN EVENT TO GO TO, AND IT WAS A PERFECT WAY TO SPEND OUR SUNDAY. BUT EVEN THOUGH WE WERE ABLE TO LAY BACK AND ENJOY SOME FUN, WE WERE ALSO HELPING SOMEONE IN NEED. I WAS HAPPY THAT I GOT TO HELP RAISE MONEY FOR KAITLYN’S 16TH BIRTHDAY PARTY. I HOPED THAT WHAT WE DID HELPED, AND WOULD GIVE HER AN AMAZING 16TH BIRTHDAY.

- SAMANTHA LEUNG MEMBER

AIDS WALK DURING THE AIDS WALK, MANY PEOPLE CAME TO DEMONSTRATE SUPPORT AND BRING ABOUT ATTENTION TO THE DILEMMA. WHILE WALKING, I SAW SO MUCH ENTHUSIASM FROM THE WALKERS ALL THROUGHOUT THE PATHS OF CENTRAL PARK. THOUGH THE WALK WAS 6.2 MILES LONG AND VERY TIRING, TO SEE NEARLY EVERYONE THAT PARTOOK IN THIS TO FINISH STRONG, IT WAS AN AMAZING EXPERIENCE. - RYAN CHEN MEMBER

PASSPORT TO TAIWAN FESTIVAL WAS ACTUALLY MORE FUN THAN I THOUGHT. WE HELPED SELL POPSICLES AND TAIWANESE SODAS. YOU WERE STILL VOLUNTEERING BUT HAVING FUN AT THE SAME TIME! - KAELYN LIU MEMBER
