Production Manager Karen Tobias Social Media Director Andrea McKee
As you will quickly learn there are lots of options. You should consider enlisting the services of a professional wedding planner. At the very least, consider hiring a day-of planner, to help coordinate the many details of the wedding day. How can a wedding planner help you? They are familiar with the wedding professionals in the market, they have worked at many of the reception facilities and directed in many of the local churches. This knowledge is part of what you need to help plan your wedding and to make the right decisions. Your engagement and wedding will be one of the most exciting times in your life. With all the time and money involved with your wedding, a professional wedding planner can guide you through the decisions and details with grace and ease. And with all this planning and expectations for your wedding day, having someone else to make sure it runs smoothly will help you enjoy the day stress free.

Jessica DeMarcus & Ben Earl 06.15.13 In October of 2011, to celebrate our 2nd year together, Ben and I decided to go hiking. We took the trail to Chimney Tops... to the very top! I was a little bit scared; when I say that, I mean I was hugging the rocks because I was afraid to stand up! We took in a panoramic view of nothing but beautiful scenery. Then we sat down on the rocks at Chimney Tops, and Ben acted as if he was getting a snack from his backpack. Out came a jewelry box...my ring! He got down on one knee and popped the big question. For our wedding, my dad refinished an old aluminum double sink. We put ice in both sides of the sink and placed glass-bottled cokes, root beer, Yoo-hoo, and bottled water (with decorative duct tape in place of the labels) inside. Instead of a guest book, I had a tree painted and invited the guests to place their fingerprint on the tree to resemble leaves. On one side of the aisle, I had photos of myself and on the other side, photos of Ben, all placed on tree stumps. The first images on either side were baby pictures, and proceeding down the aisle were pictures of us growing up. At the very end of the aisle were our engagement pictures. As favors, we gave everyone perennial flowers in decorative clay pots. We had Ben’s mamaw’s old mailbox, who had just passed away in March, placed on the table to receive cards from our guests. A send-off with sparklers closed the occasion. Bill Waldorf is AMAZING and does beautiful work. He is very unobtrusive as he captures images completely in the moment. No one else even comes close! He is definitely worth the money. Lisa Foster is awesome to work with. She is flexible with your budget and is so sweet. I will be ordering from her again for future events. Dead End BBQ is so yummy, and their prices are great! Every guest was talking about how wonderful it all was. For the honeymoon, we went to Hawaii for 15 days to four different islands: Ohau, Kauai, Maui and Hawaii. We used YMT to book our flights and trip. So relaxing! Ben and I decided together on this trip, and YMT organized the whole thing for us.

TIPS TO GET
THE MOST OUT OF
THE PINK BRIDAL SHOWS www.ThePinkBride.com
Create a wedding email address:
Bring a sheet of peel ‘n stick mailing labels:
This is a must do. Do not use your personal email address. You will receive lots of emails about your wedding and you want them all in one central place. Plus, after the wedding you simply never check your wedding email address again.
Many of the exhibitors will have in- booth registrations. On your label include your wedding date, your name and wedding email address. This will save you time!!
Show specials:
Many of the show exhibitors offer show specials the day of the show for brides ready to book. If you have done your research you may just snag a savings. Keep in mind vendors are not as busy during the fashions shows, so if you have your dress, use this time to talk one-on-one.
What to wear?
Comfortable shoes and layers of clothes in case it is too hot or too cold.
Come to the show ready to book or at least make an appointment: What do you still need for your wedding?
Go online to www.ThePinkBride.com and under the SHOWS tab click on your city. Then scroll down the category listings and review the exhibitors who will be showcasing at the show and link to their sites. Doing your homework prior to the show and having questions to ask exhibitors can help you be efficient and less stressful while at the show.
The Pink Bridal Show is like a wedding mall for the day. This allows you the chance to see lots of exhibitors without having to drive all over town. If you are not sure about signing a contract at the show, at least book an appointment. Why? You are not the only bride getting married and if you have decided on an exhibitor better secure your date before it’s taken by another bride. You do not want to be disappointed.
Can my Groom come?
YES – YES – YES. It is a great time to start making some decisions and clearly you want him to be part.
How long will I be at the show?
Assuming you still have needs, you can plan on 2-3 hours easily. There is so much to see and so many great ideas. Taking notes is a good idea so you can remember the important thoughts from the vendors you connected with at the bridal show.
Come and Enjoy yourself at The Pink Bridal Shows!! www.ThePinkBride.com Tickets are available online or at the door. If you have any specific questions call the Pink Bride office 865.531.3941 The Pink Bridal Shows are a lot of fun and a great opportunity to help you make good choices.

Behind the Story
Navy and green were the colors Russel and I picked for the wedding. I was told by many people to make sure to soak in everything on my wedding day because it goes by in a blink of an eye. They were not wrong! Starting the day off, my bridesmaids, my mother and I went to Starbucks to enjoy some relaxing breakfast and coffee. We went to MAC to get our makeup done, and the attendants were wonderful and helped keep my nerves away. After makeup, we headed back to Trillium Springs to get our hair done by my hair stylist Jodi Shuler. The best part about the getting ready process was having my sister Jessica, who was my Maid of Honor, there to help me into my dress. A very special moment for me was that I didn’t let my mother, mother-in-law or father see me with everyone gathered around. I wanted that to be an intimate moment, and it definitely was. Everything for the ceremony went according to plan, so there were no surprises! Thank goodness!! That whole day, I tried my best not to cry; however, the moment I saw my mom and dad for the first time with my wedding dress on, the happy tears came rolling down. For our wedding, I had an aisle runner made for me by a coworker of my mother’s. It was beautiful! It was white burlap with a navy satin border. Also, something Russel and I wanted to do was keep with traditions, so we did not see or speak to each other until we met at the altar. To us, that was really important, and it was a great decision. Kevin Maples is the owner of Trillium Springs, and he also took care of the catering. His staff prepared a delicious meal for the reception, and all the guest were pleased. Sarah, our photographer, made sure to capture every detail of the wedding, and all the pictures turned out amazingly. She is very passionate about photography and makes sure that her clients get every shot they want plus more. The honeymoon was planned by Russel. I told him that I wanted it to be a complete surprise to me. I did not find out where we were going until we got there. We had a very nice and secluded cabin in Gatlinburg, TN, and I loved it!! It was the perfect honeymoon for me!

Rachel Towers & Chad Brooks June 7, 2013
PHOTOGRAPHY BY Jennie Andrews Photography
Rachel Towers & Chad Brooks 06.07.13 I have a love affair with big open skies, probably from growing up by the beach. When I moved to Tennessee, Rock City became my favorite place to visit. Chad and I would go there several times a year, at different seasons, at spur of the moments. So, when we went in November, I was none the wiser to his little plan... Chad secretly hired a photographer, managed to get flowers delivered (which apparently nobody in Chattanooga does), and he proposed on the vista overlooking seven states! It was AMAZING! We were engaged for 6 months, which I feel is the Goldilocks of engagements (not too short, not too long). Our wedding was perfect, and I am not just saying that because every bride does! We wanted our wedding to be organic, simple, and timeless. Faith, family and fun were the three important factors that we kept in mind when we started planning our garden-like wedding. With our colors being gray, green and ivory, we decorated with a lot of natural elements like moss and tree branches. We chose Bluebird Hill because they have this beautiful hill with stunning views. About five minutes before I was to walk down the aisle, Chad’s nephew and ring bearer went missing. While everybody was out looking for him, I saw him sprinting down the hill, practically tripping over his legs, vest undone and flapping in the wind. It was one of those moments I will love forever because not many people knew it even happened. We varied from tradition with our mismatched attendants. My brother stood up for me, and Chad’s sister stood up for him. Family is something we cherish, and it felt right to have our own siblings supporting us as we started this new adventure together. For the ceremony, Chad built the cross that we got married in front of out of driftwood that had washed up on shore from the Tennessee River. It was, and still is, one of the most meaningful keepsakes from the wedding. (He helped with a million other things, but to me, that was the most special.) We love, love, loved everything about our vendors! Jennie was everywhere with her camera (but still joined me on the dance floor for the wobble), plus, she has these wicked sparkler-spelling capabilities. Casey and Zachary (of Nicholas & Keaton) are video magicians, popping up silently out of nowhere to capture those loved moments. And Andrew (Ogle Entertainment) can dance the pants off anybody on the dance floor. We wanted a team as fun-loving as Chad and I are, and we definitely succeeded! We went to Costa Rica for the honeymoon and had the time of our lives rappelling down waterfalls, dining in front of the volcano, and having those much needed, long and lazy days on the beach.

Total Flower Bliss [ Real Wedding Inspiration ]
- Floral Design by Melissa Timm Designs, Photography by Jennie Andrews Flowers: garden roses, anemones, craspedia, golden rod, dusty miller
Alli Rader / April 20, 2013 Q: What was the theme for your wedding day? A: The general theme of our wedding was simple, colorful, eclectic, and springy. We wanted it to be laid back and fun, with handmade touches that all reflected our personal style. I knew I did not want a white bouquet or for all the flowers to be neutral tones. I love color! Q: How did Melissa help you incorporate splashes of your personality throughout the wedding décor? A: I chose a few simple flowers and tried to incorporate a bit of quirkiness in others, along with the style the bouquets were arranged. I wanted the bouquets to be colorful and funky – jutting out in asymmetrical shapes, as if it were all growing together like wildflowers, with all different shapes and textures. “Melissa knew exactly the feel and style I was going for in my wedding and in the flowers. She has such a sweet spirit and did a phenomenal job tying all of my ideas together!”

Marsha Leonard & James Gregory October 27, 2012
PHOTOGRAPHY BY Waldorf Photographic Art
Marsha Leonard & James Gregory 10.27.12 James and I met when we were babies. My father was the pastor that led his father to Christ. Soon after that, our families moved away to different places, but our fathers stayed good friends and kept in touch. We didn’t see one another again until we were in our late twenties, when I moved to his town for a job. As soon as we saw each other, there was an instant connection. We started dating soon after and quickly fell head over heels in love. He proposed at the Biltmore Estate after we had been dating for a year. We were married nine months later. Throughout all of the wedding planning, James was there every step of the way. My mother was unable to assist me with most of the wedding planning because she lives very far away. I could not have done it without James. We are an incredible team. Our wedding was so much fun. We couldn’t stop smiling and giggling during the whole service, because we were so excited about finally being husband and wife. The gift exchange was unique and fun. Each of us stood on separate sides of a door in a room so we could exchange gifts and still not see each other before the ceremony. At our Bride and Groom send off, Darth Vader showed up out of nowhere and was entertaining our guests. The wedding colors were teal and sangria. For our décor, we used lanterns and fruit in the flower arrangements, giving it a very Secret Garden theme. The fruit was then later donated to a local food bank. In the ceremony, we assembled a unity cross instead of using candles. Our advice when planning a wedding would be don’t be afraid to ask for help with the planning. Give yourself enough time to get ready and not feel rushed before the I do’s. Eat a good meal before the wedding ceremony. Lastly, get a good photographer. The photos are what you keep forever from that day. Waldorf Photographic Art was so incredible to work with. They captured the best moments of our day and used several photographers so no moments were missed.

Christina Conyers & Michael Curry 04.28.13
Behind the Story
I (Christina) became good friends with Michael’s sister-in-law (Leigh) through RN school. Leigh introduced us, and we fell in love immediately. Michael asked me to go hiking, which we love to do, and he picked out the perfect place with the water breaking over the large rocks as the snow was melting in the mountains. He surprised me by taking me out into the water to “take pictures” on a very large, flat rock. As I turned around to give him a hug after a handful of pictures, Michael dropped to one knee and asked me to marry him. I was so surprised and filled with joy and shock that I could not even answer. My hands were clasped over my mouth in awe. My tears were so strong that I could not even see, but I kept shaking my head YES, YES, YES!! The rain was terrible the three days leading up to our wedding day. We were very worried that our outside ceremony would not work. However, 30 minutes before the start of the ceremony, the rain stopped, and it was a perfect sunny afternoon at Knoxville Botanical Garden. At the first sight of me, Michael’s eyes doubled in size, and tears began to warm his eyes. I had the largest smile on my face. During our vows, both Michael and I became a little chocked up. I began to tear up and cry as Michael stated his marriage and ring vows. The wedding colors were white, silver, black, and three shades of purple (dark purple, plum and lavender). I recommend that you stay very organized! My family teases me for being a type A, superorganized person, but my wedding playbook and organizational binder kept my head on straight. This also decreased the stress the last few days before the wedding, knowing that all the plans were well thought-out, planned, and completed. Bledsoe Photography is fabulous!! They are friendly, kind, encouraging, and very professional. Sandy’s Cakes was amazing!! Her homemade buttercream icing and amazing decor talent is unbeatable. Drew Holloway (DJ) is the most amazing DJ we have every worked with. He really made the reception a night to remember!

Cassidy Lindsay & Travis Carroll 06.22.13 Travis and I first met many years ago through mutual friends. It wasn’t until several years later that he contacted me. While I was at work, I received an anonymous text from a guy. He began to tell me that he had been wanting to ask me out for a long time. He wouldn’t reveal his name but gave me clues as to who he was. The mystery man gave me two clues, and I instantly knew! I started to hyperventilate because it was only a dream to ever go on a date with this guy! Our first date was only a few days later. He picked me up in his little red sports car, and we went to Conner’s restaurant and then to a movie. That was almost 8 years ago.
Cassidy Lindsay & Travis Carroll
One year ago in May, Travis and our family attended my nursing pinning ceremony, and we all had lunch afterwards. When I had finished opening my gifts from the family, we started to take a few pictures. Travis requested a picture of just the two of us, and as the others stepped away, he told me to turn around with my back to him. A few seconds later, I turned back around, and he was on one knee with a box in his hand. Inside was a beautiful ring! He asked me to marry him on May 5, 2012, at Aubrey’s Restaurant. No one but my dad and Travis’ family and friends knew about the proposal. We started planning shortly after that day! Travis and I were engaged for about a year before the big day, so we had plenty of time. We were married in the church where Travis’ father was the pastor years ago. My mother also grew up at the same church with her family. It’s so ironic that we knew of each other long before we ever actually knew each other. The wedding day started out very stressful, but it was all worth it once the time finally came. Because we did most of the set up on our own, we were a bit crunched for time to get it all done. However, it all worked out and turned out perfectly! We had amazing family and friends there to make sure everything went smoothly for Travis and me. This allowed us to focus on having a great time with each other and our guests. Travis and his guys played golf the day of the wedding, while the girls and I set up and did hair and makeup.

Seeing my dad waiting for me at the door to the church and walking down the aisle with him as I saw Travis at the altar was the most memorable and emotional part of my wedding day. Our wedding colors were an array of grey, black, white and a touch of pale yellow. We had fantastic wedding professionals. Our best experience was by far working with our photographer, Leah Bullard. There were no hiccups along the way. Leah and her assistant Jennie made everything so easy! They absolutely did all the work and made the planning and the wedding day that much smoother. We were so grateful for that experience.

Rachel Howell & Edward Warren 04.20.13 I’m in the Navy stationed in Jacksonville, FL, and he’s in the Marines stationed in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. The past 20 months of our relationship have been long distance, including my 8-month deployment. I was very ready for a while to get engaged and made that clear to him! I was starting to think it was never going to happen when he came to visit me on a three-day weekend in February. We went to play disk golf with our dog - a favorite weekend activity of ours. I had just thrown my disk and reached back to hold his hand. He pulled me into a bear hug, and I asked him, “Do you love me? How much do you love me?” which has always been a game we play. He asked me if I wanted to him to prove it, to which I said yes. Then he asked me if I’d go on an adventure with him. He paused then said, “Will you go on an adventure of life with me?” He got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. He actually didn’t have the ring with him. I was very close to my grandmother, who passed away last year; I had her old ring tucked away at home, and he couldn’t find it earlier in the day. We were only engaged for two months. We were so excited and didn’t want to wait long. With our crazy schedules and my upcoming deployment, timing was right to do it now!
Rachel Howell & Edward Warren
Don’t underestimate family! My grandfather was my wedding planner - he organized everything from the photographer to the menu to making sure VPC had life jackets. My mom took care of cake, flowers, and did my makeup, while my best friend did my hair. I had a willing wedding staff prepared to help me out in every way possible. We had a mimosa bar with different fruit juices - huge hit! It fit perfectly in with our brunch serving, including french toast and bacon. I also used my great-grandfather’s carvings of an old man and woman as our cake topper. That’s what the wedding is all about - celebrating our commitment to each other and growing old together, so it was perfect! We also played a bluegrass song as our exit song from the ceremony. Edward plays bluegrass, and we are both from Tennessee, so it fit. We had a sword arch composed of several of our friends from the military. Six people lined up in uniform with their swords forming an arch; they lowered their swords as we passed through as “the price of passage is a kiss.” We kissed at each stage to pass through. As we exited, one Marine hit me on the butt with her sword, yelling, “Welcome to the Marine Corps, ma’am!” Right after, one of my friends from the Navy hit Edward on the butt yelling “Welcome to the Navy, sir!” That was our exit instead of tossing birdseed - truly memorable. Volunteer Princess Cruises was outstanding! They took care of everything and made it all easy and enjoyable the day of! Nikki and Devon were amazing at coordinating everything, so all we had to do was tell them the next thing we wanted, and they were on it. The food was great, and they even took care of a last-minute snafoo when the florist cancelled less than two weeks beforehand. I could not have asked for a better venue (we were driving down a river getting married!) and an easier, more wonderful group of people to work with!

Kathleen Souder & Timothy Dickinson PHOTOGRAPHY BY Dixie Pixel
Kathleen Souder & Timothy Dickinson 05.25.13 Both Tim and I spent the morning of our wedding with our respective family and friends up in cabins in the mountains, and we loved the relaxing time we had with them. My sisters and wedding party did each other’s hair and makeup as we had breakfast and mimosas, which made my wedding day feel so relaxed. One of the best parts about our wedding was how it made us realize the overwhelming love and generosity of our friends and family. Besides our wedding ceremony and actually getting married, what we will always remember is how much we were surrounded by love shown by all who traveled across the country, helped with wedding details, and got down on the dance floor. When planning, I ended up incorporating a lot of metallic gold accents, which contrasted nicely with the rustic wood barn, the whites of the bridesmaids’ dresses and the natural greenery of the bouquets and landscape. Tim has a reputation for creating a playlist for every party and occasion, so he edited, timed and cut each song perfectly using software and made an awesome playlist. Not using a DJ was probably the riskiest thing we did, but because he thought it out so well ahead of time, it worked out for us. I’ll never forget the few evenings we spent “test dancing” the wedding playlist. Tim and I also experimented at home with our favorite cocktail recipes that we then served our guests: I picked a St. Germain French 75, and since I love to cook, I made the lemon-rosemary simple syrup for it. Tim’s cocktail was his favorite classic Manhattan with orange bitters. The wedding was amazing. After dinner, dessert and speeches, the dance floor was literally swarmed from the very first song and wasn’t empty until the music stopped. In fact, the party was still going when the reception was scheduled to end, so Tim and I made the decision to extend the entire thing by an extra hour, and we don’t regret that for a minute…although it did take a few days for the feeling to return to my feet completely! My best advice when planning a wedding is to book the best photographer you possibly can. Tara of Dixie Pixel was literally the first person we contacted after we chose a date because I had been following her work for the past year or two (yes, I was That Girl) and knew she was unparalleled. Tim was sold the minute she asked us if we were “willing to trespass or climb fences” in order to get a good shot, and while we did neither of those on our wedding day, Tara jumped into the river with no regard for her clothes so she could get our picture.

Erica Aldredge & Brett Spiva 05.18.13 May 18, 2012: Erica was at work on what seemed to be a normal Friday morning, but would soon turn into the most surprising Friday ever! Brett had plans to go flying with a friend near her office, which was fairly normal. He had asked her to have her camera ready, to try and take pictures of his fly-by from her office on the 22nd floor. Little did she know, that was not the plan at all! Erica’s boss called her into his office for a “meeting,” but the real reason was so Brett could sneak into the office without giving away the surprise. In the meantime, that meeting was droning on and on, when Erica spotted something unusual... a plane towing a banner which read “Erica, Will you marry me? Brett”! That meeting disassembled quickly as Erica ran to another window, trying to keep up with the plane as it circled her building. A few co-workers were in on it, and by this point, a crowd was gathering... Erica was told to go out on the balcony so she could see the plane better, and when she did, there was Brett down on one knee! Brett and Erica’s wedding was very unique and suited both their personalities. They wanted the ceremony to be quick, but very personal, and had several special touches that were unique to them. Erica’s Dad built an arbor for the ceremony from Cedar trees from both Erica and Brett’s parents’ properties; he also baked a few hundred homemade cookies for the reception. Brett’s parents and uncle sang a song special to the couple during the ceremony, and his Grandfather lent them his 1940 Ford for their entrance and getaway. The fact that Brett is a pilot, and they both love to travel played a theme throughout the whole event. The ceremony was at a private airport, out at a point on a grass strip on the water. The programs were folded into paper airplanes, and at the reception, each table had a map on it of a place they had traveled together, with a note detailing the date and the reason for the trip. Each table also had a paper airplane bouquet for a centerpiece. Several things didn’t go as planned that day, from the non-stop rain to the typical stress that is expected when trying to coordinate that many people on a schedule. But it not only quit raining just in time for the ceremony – it was even sunny! At the end of the night, they both felt that it was a perfect day and that everything that had gone wrong was insignificant in the scheme of things. They were just happy to be celebrating with friends and family.
Erica Aldredge & Brett Spiva
For their honeymoon, they went to a tiny almost unknown resort called Red Frog Beach in Bocas del Toro, Panama. It was the perfect combination of luxury and wilderness adventure. Brett planned every bit of it, and they had the time of their lives. They toured a private island, went snorkeling and scuba diving where they saw dolphins, starfish, jelly fish and sea horses, went on a wonderful horseback riding tour of another island, conquered the highest zip-line in Panama, took beach-side yoga and even had a couples massage on the back porch of their villa overlooking the ocean.

Bethany Sayers & Nicholas French 05.25.13 On November 13th of 2011, Nick and I got the same fortune in our cookies from the Chinese take-out restaurant, and it read, “Remember three months from today.” He took it and ran with it. He bought the ring that he had picked out, and three months from that day, proposed to me at my parents’ house with a large fortune cookie he had made with the ring tied to the top. I plan to keep that cookie as long as it lasts! After about twenty minutes of hyperventilating (I don’t like huge surprises), I said yes – and we started the planning process! Nick was patient, understanding, and supportive during the entire year and a half of planning. He trusted my design taste, and all he ever wanted a say in was the food and the cake…shocking! We had a lot of fun during wedding planning time, and the stress really was minimal, no thanks to my controlling and perfectionist attitude! My bridesmaids were THE BEST. My girlfriend Misha Testerman truly brought peace to me on my wedding day. We all laughed and cried throughout the day. After a little lunch, my mother and I went and sat in the reception area and just watched it all come together. I couldn’t have asked for a better moment with my mother, watching all our plans come to life, jaw’s dropping as we watched the flowers come in and the candy bar being set up, and each table being perfectly placed and set. That’s when the excitement really set in. The girls wore chiffon dresses with a train that was a deep plum color. They had gold Swarovski crystal earrings and did their hair and make-up whichever way made them feel the most beautiful. With that, we had rich jewel tone bouquets to match the reception area. They looked magnificent, a lot of thanks to Samuel Franklin. At the end of the night, my dad surprised all of us with a beautiful 10-minute firework show set to my favorite movie theme song from “Father of the Bride!” It was unreal… All of our guests loved watching while the ice-cold milk and cookies were being served to our guests. Another special feature was that my caterer, who is also a champion ice carver, made us ice vases that were huge and lighted from beneath to make them glow. Castleton Farms was the perfect backdrop for our extraordinary day. We started our weekend with our rehearsal dinner in the Carriage House, getting ready in the mansion, getting married in the Vineyard, cocktail hour at sunset on the Croquet Lawn, and the reception in the tent under the stars. To say the least, it was magical.

TIPS TO MAKE YOUR
Hair Sparkle ON YOUR WEDDING DAY!
1 HIRE A PROFESSIONAL.
We know some of your are very good at styling hair but hiring a professional is the way to go; especially for your wedding day.
2 DO YOU COLOR YOUR HAIR?
Make sure you talk to your stylist at least 6 months prior to your wedding. This will allow you and your stylist to achieve the perfect color on your big day.
3 OUTDOOR WEDDING?
Be sure to choose a hair style that can take the heat. Also be sure to use lots of hair spray (Maybe have one of your bridesmaids keep some hair spray with them at all times to fix any hair that might be falling).
4 PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT.
Be sure to set an appointment with your stylist a few weeks before your wedding. Use this time to share hair ideas with your stylist. This will help you see what you will look like on your wedding day and allows the hair stylist a little practice before the big day!
5 WANT TO BE SURE YOUR HAIR LOOKS AMAZING ON YOUR WEDDING DAY?
Be sure to start using a deep conditioner at least three months before your wedding. Ask your stylist for tips on which conditioner is best for your hair.
6 KEEP IT DIRTY.
Many times hair stylists like to work with dirty hair when styling. Dirty hair can often help the hair style last longer.
7 HAIR CHOICES.
Having trouble settling on one hair style? Try one for your wedding day and another for bridal shots or day after wedding shots.
8 VEIL OR NO VEIL?
This seems to be the big question facing the modern bride. This is your wedding day and only opportunity to wear a veil so why not wear one of the ceremony and switch to a beautiful hair piece or hair jewelry for the reception.
9 BE SURE TO BRING ALL YOUR HAIR ACCESSORIES TO YOUR TRIAL RUN.
This includes your veil and jewelry! You will want to see how this compliments your hair style.
10 CHOOSING THE RIGHT HAIRSTYLE FOR YOU!
You want to look naturally beautiful on your wedding day. If you don't wear you hair up then DO NOT wear it up on your wedding day! Start with your favorite everyday look and let your stylist take charge!

Ceremony & Reception Location The Lily Barn
Erin Lanning & Richard Monroe 09.17.11 We met on a summer night on Douglas Lake at Brandon’s parents’ house with some friends. We knew right away that this was it. A year later, he proposed there on that pavilion where we first met. We were engaged for a year and had our wedding at The Lily Barn. The most memorable moment of the day was when I stood inside the Lily Barn’s hedge maze, and our photographer had Brandon come find me. This was the first time he would see me in my wedding dress. Brandon came around a corner and saw me, and he almost fell over. I could see his eyes tearing up, and he told me that I was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. Brandon helped out a lot. He handled all the groomsmen and also helped set up the reception area and the gazebo for the wedding. We used simple candles in mason jars. It really set the reception area off and made for an unforgettable night. Planning a wedding can be stressful but do not let it overtake you. This day is all about you and your new husband, and nothing can change that. I really enjoyed our DJ. He got everybody out on the dance floor, even my grandmother! The catering which was done the Lily Barn was delicious! The BBQ was tender, and we had a lot of compliments on it! The Lily Barn also did our cakes. Brandon loved his PacMan groom’s cake, and our actual wedding cake was unbelievably beautiful as well as delicious...strawberry with cream cheese icing! The Lily Barn also did our hand-tied floral bouquets featuring sunflowers with a wildflower look. We went to Marcos Island, Florida for our honeymoon.

Behind the Story
Day, February of 2012. The whole restaurant knew what was going on but me. He had candles and rose petals fireside. Everyone was watching and waiting for him. Some guests even finished dinner and came back to watch. He did romantically get down on one knee. After two bottles of wine and dinner, he finally did it. He had the ring in his jacket pocket and would not take his jacket off all night. The crazy thing was a client that I had just given a haircut to was at a table close by and witnessed the whole thing. Our wedding day was very special. William planned the entire thing. I remember seeing William on the beach, looking into his eyes and seeing tears of joy. I loved that we got to take a ferry ride across the ocean to the restaurant. A memorable moment would be when a lady walking by us on the sidewalk after the wedding complimented how good my mother looked and said, “No offense, bride.” She was, in fact, my mother-in-law. We got to share the day with my loving in-laws, it was perfect! The cake was key lime and beautiful. Colors were guava, ocean blue, and mint green. One unexpected thing of the trip was finding out that I was pregnant with our daughter the very next day. AngelaDawn Portraits catered all our needs, and she was there every part of the day. We got lots of memorable, great pictures to last our lifetime and beyond. With my 19 years of experience in hair and makeup, it made it easy for me not to have to venture out for that last errand on my special day.

Teckla Dixon & Tim Patterson 08.10.12 We met through friends in 2006 and became good friends over the years, even as we lived in different cities. Once we had our first date in 2011, we were engaged for seven weeks later and married within a year. When you know, you know! Luckily, we both love to throw a good party, so we were pretty equally involved in the planning process. Tim has a musical background and worked for a commercial lighting company while in college, so he took the lead on coordinating with the band and setting up lighting for the reception. Once the sun set, the lighting in the room created a really neat atmosphere.
Teckla Dixon & Tim Patterson
At the reception, we were just excited to celebrate with everyone, and the most important thing to us was that everyone had a great time. Our biggest splurge for the reception was our band. They truly put on a great show. We also wanted great food and great pictures. When a bride is planning her wedding, we suggest making it unique. Our photographer, Danielle Evans, was awesome to work with. We didn’t give her a ton of direction, and she did a great job capturing everything. The pictures will last forever, and we are so glad to have them. We got married on the beach in Antigua, and that trip was our honeymoon. We wanted our ceremony to be simple, with the focus on us, God, and our life together. We had planned our reception for three weeks after we returned, and it was great to be able to celebrate with everyone then.

Sarah Allen & Matthew Kennedy 09.22.12 Matt and I grew up in Knoxville and went to Farragut High School but never knew each other. It’s funny how we never met because we had a lot of the same friends growing up. I think God wasn’t ready for us to meet until we grew up a little. Matt lived in Atlanta, and I lived in Charlotte when we met. Mutual friends introduced us while I was on a trip to Atlanta. Matt moved to Charlotte, and we dated for a few years. Matt’s proposal was very romantic and included a painting of a theater in Charlotte by a local artist. The marque said “Will you marry me?” and I said yes!
Sarah Allen & Matthew Kennedy
Our ceremony was at Concord United Methodist in Farragut. Our wedding party served at the church’s decoration. We wanted a simple wedding ceremony with beautiful music honoring Christ. Our color palate was the colors of nature: navy, lime green, gray, and ivory. For the reception, Matt’s wonderful family friend, Jan Hall, helped to make our wedding day perfect. Jan owns The Reserve at Bluebird Hill, and I consider this venue my “jumping off” point. I wanted to be married in September, and The Reserve couldn’t have been more beautiful, warm, and inviting. Because it is a horse farm, I decided to decorate with mason jars and lanterns with candles all around the venue. I chose patterned tablecloths that warmed up the space. Small flower bouquets filled the mason jars and galvanized containers. Our florist, Sassafras, did a flawless job with our bouquets and with decorating the space. We rented a tent with twinkle lights for the outdoor space and made the garden look truly magical at night. We didn’t have a dance floor, just the soft grass at The Reserve. Abner’s Attic designed each food station as if they were pieces of art. Stations included soup shooters, assorted salads, and heavy hors d’oeuvres. The groom’s cake included chocolate fondue with original dippers like bacon. A family friend made wedding cupcakes which was a very special addition. A guest later described our wedding day as “country chic.” We think this a perfect description of our vision and later the reality of our most perfect wedding day! For our honeymoon, we wanted to go somewhere neither of us have been. We chose Maui, Hawaii. Matt planned the entire trip, including a rental jeep and the most beautiful hotels. Every night had a surprise including dinner plans, flowers, or champagne, compliments of the hotel! We had one really big surprise on our trip, however! We got in a wreck with a crazy Hawaiian driver! Everyone was ok though!

Bettina Wabby & David Hamblin PHOTOGRAPHY BY Dixie Pixel
Bettina Wabby & David Hamblin 12.29.12 Every moment of our wedding day was absolute perfection! It was full of love, friendships, and family. Being in the wedding business myself (I own a catering business, bakery, and vintage rental company), most people that know me thought I would have tons of ideas for my own wedding. Believe it or not, I really had no clue! I knew I wanted a winter/holiday themed wedding. There is just something that is in the air around the end of the year that makes people so happy. David and I have spent the past eight years together, and the thought of starting a brand new chapter of our lives and beginning a brand new year as a married couple felt very romantic. Once we set the date and selected The Knoxville Museum of Art, things just started to come together. Our first decision was to hire Tara of DixiePixel. I have always admired her work. She seems to have such a beautiful ability to capture the spirit of the couples she shoots. I knew that our photos would be our own and not just another posed bride and groom. She did so many special things for us to ensure that we had all the pictures we had wanted, including a freezing-cold shoot late night to capture that snowy, sweet kiss! For us, the ceremony was a moment in time where we were able to honor our love for one another and celebrate our relationship with all the people who have loved and supported us throughout our lives. It was important for us to create an atmosphere in which our guests felt welcomed and special. For the ceremony, we decided we wanted our guests to sit all around us, so we stood in the center of the room. We filled the room with touches of wood, using branches from trees we collected from our neighborhood and blue uplighting to create a wintery space. In the reception hall, I stuck with white… White tablecloths, white flowers, white table numbers, menus, etc. We accented everything with pops of metals… Gold, silver, and sparkles to create a festive spirit. I only have one regret in the wedding planning process… Not having a videographer. It was something I did not think I needed or even wanted. As a bride, there is a whole portion of the ceremony that you are not a part of… you are the LAST to enter! I wish I could see David, his guys… the ring bearer as they entered the room… Hear the band playing those carefully chosen songs again… We have amazing pictures, but I would go back in time and hire someone to video the ceremony if I could. My father gifted us with an incredible honeymoon to Napa, CA. It was the perfect place to go! We stayed at an amazing bed and breakfast and spa, took wine tours, ate amazing foods, and just relaxed. It is a special place that we hope to return to throughout our lives.

Alicia Sullivan & Patrick Aldred
Alicia Sullivan & Patrick Aldred 06.08.13 Patrick and I got engaged June 8th and decided to get married June 8th (Mainly because it would be very easy to remember), so I had a whole year of wedding planning. I started off by buying probably 1,000 wedding magazines and reading through them page by page. The first decision I made was the bridal party and then the colors of the wedding. Wedding planning became a bit difficult because I realized I was the one who had to make all the decisions. My mother passed away a couple years ago, and it was difficult without her here to help. This kind of stuff was right up her alley. I decided I would just have to stay organized and really commit myself to every detail (something I am usually not good at). I planned everything from the florist, caterer, getaway car, limo, hotel, and other vendors, and I realized one thing looking back: I wouldn’t have changed it for anything. It really was the perfect day that I planned. I just want to relive our wedding day all over again. We had the best time! It’s not every day you get all your closest family and friends in one room. I, of course, cried at the vows. Right when I had to talk, the tears just started falling. I did manage to pull myself together. That is, until the speeches that were given by my sisters. They were so sweet and heartfelt, and it was nice to hear! Something unique that we did at our wedding was that we had thank you cards at each place setting just telling our guests how much we appreciated them coming, and that, in lieu of favors, a donation had been made to the Susan G. Komen foundation. My mother passed away from breast cancer a couple years ago, so this was really special to me. Also, I had a little pendant with her picture in it hanging from my bouquet, so it was like she was also walking me down the aisle. My advice to other brides is to truly live in every moment. Even the moments that are stressful, you’ll appreciate later. On your wedding day, know that it will fly by, and you won’t want it to end. Talk and say hello to everyone, but at the end of the day, just make sure you have fun with your new husband.

Kristin Kelly & Robert Mattson 04.27.13 I had no idea the proposal was coming. It was our fifth anniversary, and he was making crab legs and filet mignon for dinner with brownies for dessert (my favorite!). He had originally planned to write, “Will you marry me,” in icing on the brownies. Unfortunately, he had to scrap that plan as I saw the tube of icing and asked why he was planning on ruining the brownies by adding icing. I told him not to put any on mine! OOPS! So, while the brownies were still in the oven, he got down on one knee in our dining room and asked me to marry him.
Kristin Kelly & Robert Mattson
It took almost two years to plan our wedding. Since our families live on opposite sides of the country (my parents in Florida, and his in Minnesota and Michigan) we decided to get married here in Tennessee. We chose Gatlinburg, instead of Knoxville, so that our families could stay in cabins and turn the trip into a vacation. In the week leading up to the wedding, the chance of rain kept increasing for our wedding day. Although the last thing I wanted was rain, I had to make the decision to embrace whatever the weather was like that day, so I brought my Coach rain boots and made sure we had plenty of umbrellas! I’m glad we were prepared because it definitely poured non-stop the ENTIRE weekend. In spite of the rain, we had a beautiful ceremony and reception. I tried really hard to take everything in and remember every moment of our wedding day. Seeing Rob for the “first look” was such an amazing moment. He looked so handsome standing there in his tux! Our ceremony was so special. We surprised my parents by playing the song they walked down the aisle to while my bridesmaids entered the church (the theme from “Chariots of Fire”), and we chose to write our own vows. It was so amazing to have so many people who love and support us in one room. The reception seemed to fly by. The food, flowers and decor were amazing! It was so neat to see all of the details come together so perfectly for one amazing event! We absolutely loved all of our vendors, but hiring KLP Photography and Nicholas & Keaton Cinematography was HANDS DOWN the best planning decision we made. They really helped keep things on track, kept me calm with their confidence and positive attitudes, and helped select alternative locations for photos given the fact it was pouring outside. KLP offered a free rain check session as part of her contract, so we were able to get all dressed up again after the wedding and get those beautiful outdoor photos she is known for!

Alexanderia Honeycutt & John Saltsman Jr. 02.17.13
Alexanderia Honeycutt & John Saltsman Jr.
Chip and Alexanderia Saltsman’s story begins with a mutual friend who tried to connect them while she was in town. Even though the friend was unable to connect with Alexanderia that day, as fate would have it, the future husband and wife couple ran into each other that very night. Fast-forward to over a year later, and Chip proposed on Halloween of 2012 – Alexanderia’s favorite holiday. He invited all members of both families for the big event. A few days before, he and his nieces carved “Will You Marry Me?” into a pumpkin. When Alexanderia walked onto the porch, he was there with all of her family in the front yard. She was shocked, and when she turned around, he was on one knee. And yes, she was in full Halloween mode – wearing a witch’s outfit from head to toe. They dated for over a year, so the couple was engaged for only four months. Since the wedding was small, and all about them, they were both very involved with the wedding planning. The flowers? Chip didn’t care about those at all. The altar area? He had a vision of many different candles in all different sizes. Since that was something that was important to him, he took the lead, which also helped clear Alexanderia’s plate. He was also very helpful in picking out the couple’s song list, as well as his song to walk out to. Most grooms don’t have “their” song, but he had his. For the couple, the best part of the day was their “family only” ceremony – although they both missed some of their closest friends, it truly had the “just for us” feeling they were hoping for. Laughter was a big part of their day, but once they hit the dance floor for their first song, set to “Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now” by Jefferson Starship, they really couldn’t contain the laughter. One of the most memorable moments for Mr. and Mrs. Saltsman was their “motorcade” to downtown to take pictures. Downtown Nashville can be jammed packed with tourists at times, and their big day was one of those times. They had lots of onlookers and amateur paparazzi snapping pictures with phones, wondering just who the heck they were to stop traffic on Broadway to pose for a few pictures. The couple’s advice for others? “Make it all about you and your spouse. It is easy to get caught up in the perfect Vogue wedding. In our opinion, there is no right or wrong way to do your wedding, just ‘your’ way. Spend time discussing the things that you both want in a wedding. Ask each other that one cool question, ‘If you could have anything at your wedding what would it be?’ It might be a helicopter to take you off instead of a car, or having your dog walk down the aisle, or wear boots. Whatever it might be, try to incorporate yourself into every aspect of your wedding.”

Ceremony & Reception Location RT Lodge
Jennifer Leanza & Nick Jacob 11.24.12 Our wedding day was so wonderful and full of many memorable moments. During our ceremony, our sweet Reverend seemed to have left out: “You may now kiss the bride.” After some awkward staring, I think Nick eventually asked the Reverend for permission. The day would not have been the same without a two-man band that played during our ceremony and cocktail hour and after dinner. The band literally played for at least four hours straight. About halfway through the reception, the band played “Shout,” the quintessential wedding song, and I thought the fun must soon be over. However, some of the groomsmen and my bridesmaids’ dates picked up both Nick and I on their shoulders and began jumping us up and down. Much to my dismay, I am pretty sure we went airborne, but it was an amazing experience. Once my feet were on solid ground, I was surprised to realize this was only the beginning. I had to laugh when the photographer brought out a chair for the garter toss because Nick and I were so confused...I did not have a garter. Nick hopped on the chair and did a little dance to save me. Also, we completely forgot about the bouquet toss until the end of the night. However, Alex sailed out of the air to catch it as though she had been waiting all night. My husband is from Alabama, and I am from Tennessee, so it was inevitable that both “Sweet Home Alabama” and “Rocky Top” would be played. At some point, Nick and his two cousins took the stage for their number, and during “Rocky Top,” some spontaneous square dancing broke out. We had a few other unique items for our wedding. Rather than have guests sign a guest book, I bought vintage printed postcards for guests to leave us a note. They were great to read! Nick and I also decided against a traditional wedding cake and grooms cake. Instead of the wedding cake, we had 3 smaller cakes in different flavors. Alex with RT Lodge suggested a bourbon bar in place of the groom’s cake. Obviously, this was very popular. Because we planned our wedding from out of the state, we had not even met our wonderful photographer, Brittany Conner, or seen the Lodge until we arrived in Maryville. However, both Brittany and the Lodge exceeded our expectations. Both were highly professional and very flexible. Brittany made us laugh and feel comfortable, despite freezing temperatures, and all the staff at the Lodge were extremely accommodating. Nick and I highly enjoyed working with them. My husband planned the honeymoon to St. Lucia using a travel agency. We had an enjoyable stay at Calabash Cove, one of the smaller resorts on the island. St. Lucia was perfect for us because we were able to divide our time between relaxing on the beach or at the pool bar and leaving the resort for excursions, such as deep sea fishing, sailing, and hiking.

Charles and I met while playing rugby in high school. It seems to be an unlikely place, but we hit it off from the start. We had a long engagement. After dating for two and a half years, he proposed at Disney World, in front of the castle. I felt like a rugby princess and still do. We were engaged for two and a half years before tying the knot as a request from our parents. The wedding day was a whirlwind. After preparing for years, it was a rush. My niece, Caris, was our flower girl. She was amazing. As we were getting ready, we danced in the mirror, which is one of my favorite memories. That and seeing him for the first time. The aisle was so long, and I felt like I was never going to get to him, but my parents and I did reach him, and the butterflies went away. I wore a necklace that my grandmother had made for me and presented it to me before I put on my dress. The photos are atrocious because I was wearing flannel, but she had made it from one of her rings. I wear it all the time. Something unique I did for our wedding was we played corn hole and other yard games and ate popcorn and watermelon before dinner. There is a wonderful shot of a groomsman and me squaring off against each other. If we could have added something to our wedding, we would have gotten someone to video the ceremony. My advice to all future brides would be don’t stress; what’s important is that you’re married at the end of the day.

Our wedding day was a beautiful day! We were lucky to have a mild day in August, since our ceremony was outside. Twin Cedar Farm was a beautiful venue. Our wedding colors were light pink, ivory, and gray. We had a few wardrobe malfunctions. My brother was a groomsmen and forgot his shoes. He missed most of the pictures looking for shoes. One of my bridesmaids had a broken zipper on her dress! Even after all this, the day was still perfect! The only thing I would have done differently was I wish I had hired a wedding planner. It’s is hard to do all by yourself. I think this would have relieved lots of stress from me and my mother. KLP photography was awesome. Kristin and Casey were great and helped out LOTS!! The pictures were awesome. I couldn’t have chose a better photographer! KupKaties KupKakes did a great job on the cake. It was delicious! Bobby can’t wait to eat some on our first anniversary. My advice for couples planning a wedding is Don’t stress so much and sweat the small stuff. It will all work out in the end. Take it all in. It goes by so fast. Bobby and I planned the honeymoon. We went to Jamaica. It was nice to relax after such a stressful time.

Marti Rose & Mark Merrell November 3, 2012 PHOTOGRAPHY BY Waldorf Photographic Art
Marti Rose & Mark Merrell 11.3.12 For our wedding, we knew we wanted the reception to be on our farm in Dandridge. While I was busy planning, Mark was busy working on remodeling our old farmhouse for our wedding day. Despite all of his hard work, we were in need of a lot of help the week before our wedding. I still get emotional remembering how our families and very dear friends all came to our rescue – it was truly an amazing event. Our wedding ceremony was a celebration of our faith, family, and happiness. We were married by my cousin, Pastor Mark McGill, in a beautifully written ceremony at the historic Hebron Presbyterian Church with Mark’s two sons by our sides. All of our immediate family played a role in our wedding, and we were surrounded by extended family and close friends. We even had a canine wedding crasher at the ceremony that our photographer caught hiding in the pews! Since the reception was at our home, we wanted our guests to feel “at home,” and our wedding vendors did an amazing job to create a beautiful yet relaxing atmosphere filled with hospitality for our 150 guests. Lisa Foster Floral Design took my color palette of champagne, mahogany, and warm caramel with splashes of antique pink, and created the springtime in the fall that I wanted. Copper Cellar Catering (which was appropriate because our first date was at Copper Cellar) prepared and served a delicious countrystyle buffet. We wore aprons monogrammed “Mr.” and “Mrs.” as we personally served our mouth-watering cake with lemon buttercream icing and raspberry filling prepared by Sweet Beginnings on my own collection of vintage china plates. Our tables were named in honor of our parents and grandparents, using old family pictures, and were decorated with burlap squares, mason jars filled with Queen Anne’s Lace and Alstroemeria. The pictures turned into a great conversation piece for our guests and were a way to have our grandparents, who are no longer with us, be a part of our day. A unique touch to our wedding would be the story behind my father driving me to the church in his 1948 Lincoln Continental Convertible that he bought when I was a little girl. Our family considers the Lincoln to be good luck for the bride it carries on her wedding day since every bride who has ridden in it for over a quarter of a century is still married. So, on my wedding day, I was finally the lucky bride in the Lincoln! Our wedding day turned out to be even more beautiful than I imagined it to be, thanks to all of our wedding professionals. All of our treasured moments were captured by Waldorf Photographic Art in vivid images illustrating a storybook formatted album. Our artistically crafted album personally tells our love story. Cover to cover, it is full of all the people we love and the details of our magical day. Now that our day is over, I have my album to reminisce about the day I never want to forget.

Amanda Wilson & Logan McNulty 05.05.12 Everyone really did what they could to help plan our wedding. My parents all pitched in on looking for and collecting elements that I could use, from peach crates to bottles and jars. My little brother also found an old jar jackpot on our property and dug them all up for me. I was living in Georgia during our engagement, and Logan was in Tennessee, so a lot of what I did was research on the computer.
Amanda Wilson & Logan McNulty
Logan would go check things out for me. He was a great sport. We looked through venues together, but they just weren’t quite what we were looking for. But then, he met with Kevin at Trillium Springs and knew it was the place, so we booked there, and I trusted him. He has good taste...obviously. He also met with Jennie and was blown away with her talent, and she sweetly referred us to most of our other vendors. I planned everything from Georgia, so it was sort-of done in stages and a lot through email, but all our vendors were amazing to work with. We had Brenda and Lisa come in the last month to help organize all the vendors and schedule the day, and they did a great job. It took a lot of stress off of me during the last month as well as being in another state. The most important thing about our wedding was that everyone had a great time. We were so grateful for all of the relationships represented there and the role they played in our lives, and we wanted them to feel that. When people asked our vision, I think we mostly said fun, relaxed, and outdoors! We wanted a rustic, beautiful setting, and Trillium Springs was just perfect; it’s very rustic and natural. Our job is seasonal, so we had a lot of time to work on decor for the wedding. We wanted people to dress casually and know they would enjoy themselves. I handpicked cotton off a farm we hunt on in Georgia to incorporate into the flowers and the dÊcor. It is my favorite plant and Samantha did an amazing job incorporating it.

Yellow & Cream Elegance [ Wedding Inspiration ]
- Floral Design by Always in Bloom, Photography by John Black Photography -
Amber Greaves & Clayton Barhorst | April 28, 2012 Flowers: Hydrangeas, Orchids, Peonies, Cream and Soft Yellow Roses Floral Design: Amber and Clayton chose a modern, traditional theme for their wedding flowers. Open romantic garden roses in butter yellow and cream, lush full hydrangeas and white orchids created stunning handtied bouquets and centerpieces. The church was decorated with large scale pieces in the same light colors to contrast against the dark wood. The reception tables were adorned with beautiful linens, favors, votive candles and silver frames, each with printed name cards. Tall, oversized silver candelabras with fresh flowers were distributed around the ballroom and paired with low, round centerpieces to create a gorgeous candle lite reception.

Kara Jones & Christopher Sylvia 05.26.13 We met on match.com and dated only eight months before he proposed. He proposed on my birthday at my house. He had a series of presents that he gave me throughout the night, and each represented a stage of our relationship. Red wine called “Flirt,” a t-shirt from urban outfitters called “the boyfriend” tee, then nail polish called “best friend.” (One of my friends had told him he couldn’t propose to me unless my nails were polished because all of my clients would want to look at my ring!) For the final present, he had made chocolate chip cookies and put my ring in between them.
Kara Jones & Christopher Sylvia
For the wedding, I didn’t really pick wedding colors, I tried to stick to a theme instead. I wanted the wedding to have a 1920’s-1930’s Speakeasy feel, or a Great Gatsby party. I think we did a few unique things at our wedding! It’s hard for me to choose the best one because those little details were the most fun for me! I loved the idea of making our wedding not be so stuck on a theme or colors but more on us and our personalities. One of my bridesmaid gifts were handkerchiefs that I had embroidered “No Ugly Crying.” I made funny shirts for Chris and I to wear while getting ready. Chris got a sixpence for my shoe that had the year my grandmother was born on it. My favors were cookies my aunt made that were my grandmother’s recipe, and because she refused to let us pay her, we donated the money we would have spent on favors to The Humane Society. During the ceremony, instead of having unity candles, we wrote letters to each other and put them in a wine box to open on our 5th anniversary. Throughout all of the planning and prepping, Chris helped with almost everything! I didn’t want to have a big wedding, but he did, so he promised from day one he would help with anything he could! We tried to split up the to-do list between us toward the end so we could get more things done, but in the beginning, we made every decision together. I loved all my wedding vendors so much! I couldn’t have picked a better group of people to help my wedding day be everything I wanted! We went to Bora Bora for two weeks, and it was absolutely perfect! Chris used a travel agent to plan the trip. For Christmas, Chris gave me a French Polynesian book to tell me where we were going!

Zac had seen me around the Business School and thought to himself, “Man, she is so B-E-A-UT-I-F-U-L!” We both had a mutual friend taking the class together, so Zac approached this friend and was asking him to investigate me to see if I was dating anyone. One day in class, the friend told me, “There is a guy in our class that has a crush on you.” I looked around the room and was thinking of the guys I thought were single. I overlooked Zac during this scan, presuming he was taken. But, I thought Zac was very attractive. This friend told Zac that it was a “Go.” After class, Zac had to muster up enough courage to approach me and ask me out on a date. His stomach was woozy, and when he said my name, I turned around and said, “Oh, it’s you!” So Zac rattled out his request to take me out on a date...I SAID YES! Our wedding was filled with amazing memories. Some of the most memorable things that we enjoyed on our wedding day were when Zac turned around at a synchronized time with the pastor to see me for the first time all day in my wedding dress. Neither of us cried. We just gleamed with our smiles at each other. Zac had a little tearing up. Just a little. Another memorable moment was with our wedding photographer. Julie Crawford (Jewels Photography) was the best! THE PICTURES LOOK AMAZING! Plus, Julie is like a photo ninja. We never really saw Julie at the reception that much, but she was there snapping away. She did a GREAT job! Loved Her! Our advice for anyone planning a wedding would be hire a wedding planner! We did most of the venue setup already, but I still wanted to get a Wedding Planner. Zac was reluctant at first, but I made him see my side of things. Thank goodness! He had no idea what went into planning. We honeymooned at Sandals in the Bahamas (Royal Caribbean). It was fantastic! We planned it all ourselves. All-inclusive really does mean all-inclusive at Sandals. Top-Shelf drinks, meals, water sports, hotel pick-up at airport and back to airport, nightly entertainment... all-inclusive! Plus, Sandals has a private island that their own boat takes you too. “They do it right here!” So romantic!

Lauren Tisdale & Jonathan McRae May 11, 2013
PHOTOGRAPHY BY Bryan Allen Photography
Lauren Tisdale & Jonathan McRae 05.11.13 Jonathan and I worked together and were friends first. He proposed at home with flowers and chocolates, and it was just us and our dog. Very intimate and romantic. We were engaged for 7 months. Our wedding colors were shades of blues and purples with spring green accents. Jonathan’s only concerns while planning the wedding were the food, the alcohol and the music. Otherwise it was all me. We put together all the decor and coordinated with the rental companies. One of the most memorable moments was when my sister caught me on video laughing uncontrollably and crying at the same time in the limo on the way to the ceremony...I was so overwhelmed with emotion! During the ceremony, I wore my grandmother’s pearl necklace, which every female in my family has worn in her wedding since my grandmother. The only small issue we had was we were going to have the reception under the stars with bistro lighting, but the day before my wedding there was a 30% chance of rain for the night of the wedding. I called my coordinator Lauren in somewhat of a panic. She was able to get a tent and change the bistro lighting to chandeliers and a tent a day before the wedding! It didn’t end up raining, but the tent was beautiful anyway! She calmed me down and gave me the peace of mind I needed just in case it rained. My advice to any bride would be any detail that is not done by the week of the wedding, don’t worry about it! I made my bridesmaids gather at my house to make some homemade signs the Wednesday before my wedding. It was something I saw on Pinterest and I thought they were so important. It turns out we didn’t really need them, and they weren’t quite as easy to make as Pinterest made them look. It did create a funny memory of bridesmaids with hand-saws doing physical labor for me! For our honeymoon, we went to Couples Swept Away in Negril, Jamaica. We planned it together!

Brooke Young & Tyler Govert 03.16.13
Brooke Young & Tyler Govert
Tyler and I met in Knoxville, Tennessee, when my brother Jason Wood came home on leave from the Marine Corps in 2002 and brought Tyler along for a visit. The first night we went out, he gave me a single yellow rose, which eventually led to several RED roses. We married and had our daughter, Alexus, on 10/25/03. Tyler had proposed to me down by the Tennessee River in downtown Knoxville, TN, one summer evening. We moved around a lot, being a military family, living in Swansboro, NC; El Paso, TX; and Knoxville, TN. We decided to renew our vows and have an actual ceremony on 3/16/13 in Georgia. Our wedding colors were black, white, and a hint of fuchsia. The groom organized the table seating chart and ensured everything was the way I wanted on our big day. Something unique we did for our wedding was have our daughter (who was a junior bridesmaid) walk down the aisle after the flower girl as the “ring bearer.” We attached our rings via black ribbon around my fuchsia colored Bible to symbolize that she was as much a part of that special day as we were. Our most memorable moments were the first look outside of Paddy’s Irish Pub. I remember Tyler stating that he did not like tufted wedding dresses, and that is just what I had: I remember him stating that I look absolutely beautiful. Another memorable moment for us was when we were doing our first dance to Kip Moore’s “Hey Pretty Girl,” when towards the middle of the song, we invited our daughter, Alexus, to join us as we danced. I remember her eyes shining bright as a star and the smile on her face was nothing short of pure happiness. All of my wedding professionals were highly intelligent and brought my dream to a reality. I want to thank all my vendors for making it such a wonderful day all around. Finally, my advice to all brides would be to not stress on your wedding day. I didn’t because I knew that the wedding planner, Chantel, was going to put my dream into a reality. That way, I could enjoy the day: stress free...until the walk down the aisle, when I thought my heart was going to beat out of my chest.

Reagan Whaley & Eric Kitts May 26, 2012 Reception & Ceremony Location Whitestone Country Inn
Reagan Whaley & Eric Kitts 05.26.12 Our big day was absolutely perfect. It was the hottest day in May, and our wedding was outside, but at least it wasn’t raining. My dress was perfect for the venue and for the day. It was the second dress I tried on, and I knew that was the one. That’s how everything seemed to fall in place, just how it was meant to be. Whitestone offered perfect facilities that allowed for getting ready and beautiful pictures. I thought during these times I would be freaking out about everything getting done in the reception hall, which was also at Whitestone, and outside at the ceremony. I never once was nervous though. Tonja, my wedding coordinator from Whitestone, was awesome. She was my lifeline, and I trusted everything would be perfect. She helped to make sure everything was done according to my wishes and made sure we stayed on schedule. Our colors were chartreuse, lime green and navy. We chose these colors because they are very nautical and reflect my and Eric’s personalities. We had the best time with KLP and Nicholas and Keaton shooting images and video for our big day. Our day was mixed with traditional and nontraditional things. We used fun music that was definitely nontraditional for our exit from our ceremony and entrance to reception. We wanted times like these to reflect us. After all, that is what made this day “our” day. Eric actually helped me plan everything. He was beside me the whole time, met with every vendor and even went to every bridal show. Of course, when he found out there was going to be cake and food tasting, he was down for the Pink Bridal Show. The only part he was not there for was picking out my dress. He was not allowed to see it until he saw me walking down the aisle. That is why we can truly say our wedding reflected US. We both made decisions together. This made the planning process fun and not stressful. For our honeymoon, we went to the couples resort, Tower Isle in Jamaica. We wanted to go somewhere tropical for our honeymoon. Eric wanted to surprise me. After getting my wishes on details of a desired place, Eric and my mom met at Panera one morning and picked it out. They were there for 4 hours before finally picking out this resort, which was perfect for us. The resort could not have been more amazing! It is a couples-only resort, so we did not have to worry about kids running around everywhere!

Behind the Story
Ryan says that it was at a sushi shop, while I tend to side with Match.com. He said that I had to graduate with my Bachelors degree before being proposed to, so he waited a few hours after that before doing so. Ryan gave my dog a bone with a note attached to it to give to me as my graduation present from him. I grabbed the bone and threw the note away without reading it, not knowing there was a message on it. Ryan encouraged me to read it, so I did and was confused at first until I turned around, and he was on one knee proposing to me. The note from my dog read “Can we keep him?” At the wedding reception, we had a memory table that included wedding day photographs of our family members. A candle was lit for those who have passed or were unable to attend. Our wedding colors were royal blue and fuchsia. Aside from planning the entire honeymoon, Ryan came up with the idea of coasters as our wedding favors. The groom’s cake design was also originally thought up by him. Ryan had the help of his best man in coming up with the men’s formal wear. All wedding party entrance music was picked out by him, including the infamous “Hail to the Redskins” for our entrance song - a perfect fit for “Redskin” Ryan! We honestly believe that we picked the very best professionals in our area. KLP Photography and NICHOLAS & KEATON were great at making the photographs and video not seem like a process, but a relaxing time among friends. They were a joy to be around on what can be an incredibly stressful day! It was as if we had known and worked with them for years. The cakes turned out incredible! Cheryl from The Perfect Ending was able to give us exactly what we desired. She made the top layer of the wedding cake gluten-free, so I was able to enjoy it, as well. Ryan loved his Dodgers and Redskins hat designs, even though he couldn’t wear them! The designers at Crouch Florist did a great job of arranging bouquets and centerpieces from the few recommendations they were given, based on color and flowers.

Courtney Wolf & Jonathan Price April 20, 2013 PHOTOGRAPHY BY Danielle Evans Photography
Courtney Wolf & Jonathan Price 04.20.13 It all started with dinner at the Sunspot, where we had a wonderful date just relaxing after a long week of work (or at least I was, since Jonathan already had the ring in the box in his sock!). We had planned to go for a walk around campus after dinner to see some of the new construction that had been done, so when we finished eating, Jonathan asked if starting near the stadium was ok. I said sounds great. So off we went to Staff Lot 9 (our tailgating lot), and we got out and started walking towards the main gate of Neyland Stadium, and Jonathan said, “Hold on, I’ve got something in my shoe.” So I just started gazing around and all of a sudden I hear, “Courtney Wolf, turn around.” And to my surprise, Jonathan was down on one knee, with a ring box in his hand, and asked, “Courtney, will you do me the honor of spending the rest of your life with me?” I said something along the lines of are you kidding me? Of course I will!! Then he told me that my best friend and her husband were hidden in the bushes taking pictures, so about then they popped out wearing all navy except their camo hats! It was absolutely perfect!! The entire wedding day was just perfect! Our friends and family were all there to support us and celebrate the beginning of our new life together! One of the most memorable moments for me was during our first look before the ceremony. Jonathan came around the corner of the barn and was speechless and a little teary-eyed. It was exactly the look I had hoped for! The guys all wore grey suits with orange striped ties, and the bridesmaids wore orange dresses. Our two nephews were our ringbearers and wore grey pants with white shirts and orange polka dot suspenders and bowties. The ceremony was so special because our officiant was a family friend who personalized the ceremony just for us, including a comment about the hat Jonathan always wears! That made everyone laugh! After the ceremony, we left in Jonathan’s 1965 Mustang convertible that was handed down to him from his grandfather! We went down the hill and toasted with champagne and took some fantastic photos! The reception was so much fun! We ate wonderful food and cake and laughed and danced with family and friends! The evening ended much too soon with the release of paper lanterns for our loved ones in heaven and a wonderful sparkler exit! I had a great experience with all the professionals we chose! Everyone was so helpful and professional! I would recommend any one of them to any one! Emily and Jan at Bluebird Hill were wonderful and kept everything running smoothly on the day of the wedding! All my vendors produced wonderful food, flowers, music, and linens!! And the photographer, Danielle, was AMAZING as you can tell by the photos! Thanks to all of them for making our dream wedding a reality!
