Pro TIP:
Electric push scooters just aren’t cool, unless you’re a six year old. They’re also not efficient or much fun on cobblestone streets, which leads many riders to end up where they’re not supposed to be - on the sidewalk. Then people really hate you. We avoid. 25 CZK TO UNLOCK + 2 CZK / MINUTE

Rammstein
Tuesday, July 16th, 20:00
American Blues singer and four-time Grammy winner Keb Mo along with Austrian born Blues singer Ripoff Raskolnikov take the stage together for an evening of smooth jazz. Both artists have achieved mainstream success since in their own right their noble beginnings as Blues’ singers with Keb Mo coming from the U.S and Ripoff Raskolnikov from Europe.
The hardcore rock-punk group from Berlin takes the stage once more with their usual pyrotechnics and visuals for an evening of head-banging rock and roll. As one of the first bands to achieve mainstream success in the post-Berlin Wall era, Rammstein’s controversial history of graphical lyrics has earned them a cult-like following and a wellrespected reputation in the world of rock and metal.

IN THE
Beer gardens combine two of the Czech Republic’s greatest passions, beer and nature, which makes these outdoor spaces the perfect places to experience local culture and enjoy the Prague sunshine.
For Gorgeous Views:
Letna Beer Garden
Under one wooden picnic bench, you’ll find neighborhood dogs lounging patiently at their owners’ feet, taking a break from a walk through Letna Park. At the next table, a group of international students are likely discussing how to say “cheers” in their native languages. Along the railing, travelers and Instagram fans take turns capturing panoramic views of Old Town and the Vltava River or snapping selfies. Every table is covered in plastic cups of Gambrinus, alongside an occasional cider or shots of liquor. Be warned – although it looks like a public park, visitors are not allowed to bring their own drinks or bottles of wine, so grab a foam-topped cup of the local stuff and enjoy the view. How to Get There: If you don’t mind a hike, take the 6, 8, 15 or 26 trams to Dlouhá Třída, cross the bridge and climb the stairs to the top of the hill. For a gentler path, take trams 1, 2, 6, 7, 8, 12, 14, 25 or 26 to Letenské náměstí and enter from the back of Letna Park.
To Sit Back and Relax:
Hospůdka Na Hradbách
This lesser-known beer garden is hidden in plain sight, tucked behind the Rotunda of St. Martin in the Vyšehrad complex. The vibe is mellow and family-friendly. Don’t be surprised to find baby strollers parked beside many of the picnic tables surrounding a children’s play area and small open field. Drop by after a visit to the nearby Gothic Church of Saints Peter and Paul, and toast the Czech legends like composers Antonín Dvořák and Bedřich Smetana and Art Nouveau artist Alfons Mucha, just down the road in the Vyšehrad cemetery. Hospůdka Na Hradbách serves a wide variety of food and beverages, including grilled meats and sausages, Pilsner and Kozel beer, cider, wine, cocktails, and homemade lemonade. How to Get There: Take the red metro line C to the Vyšehrad stop and follow the signs towards the Vyšehrad complex, which is roughly a ten-minute walk. July 2019 | THE PRAGUE VISITOR

To Be Part of the Moment:
Náplavka
One of Prague’s most popular outdoor spots doesn’t exactly qualify as a “garden”, but that doesn’t stop locals and visitors from filling every inch of concrete along the riverbank known as Náplavka. In May 2017, The New York Times named it one of their “10 Favorite Places on European Rivers, Lakes and Coastlines.” Farmer’s markets draw huge crowds on Saturday mornings. Beer, wine, and food festivals often fill the space on weekends throughout the summer. Every night of the week offers a variety of beer stands and boat pubs lining the banks alongside young couples dangling their legs over the river’s edge, and you’ll often find live music or DJs spinning a soundtrack to Prague’s hippest outdoor scene. How to Get There: Take the yellow metro line B to the Karlovo Náměstí stop and exit the station towards Palackého náměstí. Trams 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 12, 16, 17, 20, and 21 also go to Palackého náměstí. Then cross the street and head down any staircase or ramp to the riverbank.
Hipster Heaven:
Outside Pivos in Karlin For the Wine Lovers:
Grebovka
Prague may be best known for its beer, but there is an entire neighborhood, Vinohrady, named for the vineyards that used to cover the area. These days, wine fans congregate in Havlíčkovy sady park to share a bottle of local vino under a gazebo while surrounded by the 14-century Grébovka vineyards, which were founded by Charles IV. Afterwards, take a stroll through Havlíčkovy sady park, dotted with architectural gems just asking to be photographed, including an ornate stone grotto and fountain and an Italian Renaissance-style villa. How to Get There: Havlíčkovy sady park is an easy downhill walk from the Náměstí Mírustop on the green metro line A, or tram stop Jana Masaryka on the 4, 13, or 22.
Located in the trendy neighborhood of Karlín, Pivo Karlín is a local hotspot acting as both a butcher shop and beer garden. You can take part of the restaurant home with you from their butcher shop that offers fresh meats and other specialties. With a specialty in pork, which they receive from a local farm, Pivo Karlín sets the bar for authentic Czech dining and international cuisine with a menu full of meat options like steak and ribs. On top of that, the onsite microbrewery creates their very own Karlín 12 dark beer as well as original IPA’s and APA’s. Perfect for the summer, this beer hall and butcher shop duo can accommodate up to 200 people. Just a few minutes down the road is Dva Kohouti, which combines a contemporary atmosphere with some local Czech flare. With both indoor and outdoor seating, Dva Kohouti is the perfect spot to grab an outdoor meal with some friends. Not only that, their beer is brewed on site, offering APA’s, IPA’s, lagers, and pale ales. Dva Kohouti brings to life the setting of a brewery in a cozy part of Zižkov for a warm and enjoyable summer evening. How to Get There: Located in the northern part of Zižkov, Pivo Karlín is 5-minute walk from the Křižíkova metro and tram stop (Metro Line B, Tram’s 3,8,24,92). Dva Kohouti is a short walk from the Karlínské náměstí tram stop (Tram’s 3,8,24,92).
Pop-Up Pilsner:
Manifesto Smichov
Post Manifesto Na Florenci’s tremendous success, Manifesto Smíchov, a summer pop-up market, will be opening on the 19th. The market will be located on Náměstí 14 Rijna Square, only a few steps away from Anděl transit, Nový Smíchov shopping mall, and is a 3-minute tram ride from Mala Strana’s Ujezd. Unlike its Na Florenci sibling, Smíchov will be focused on curating Czech beer culture through their collaboration with Pilsner Urquell and local microbreweries. Pilsner Urquell will be hosting training sessions and DIY experiences on how to pour a perfect drought beer with celebrity bartenders hosting these special events. Moreover, they’ll have an array of international bar foods alongside some famous Czech drinks. Go to Manifesto Smíchov and enjoy Czech’s beer culture before this summer only market ends. How to Get There: 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 12, 14, 15, 16, 20, 21, 94, 98, and 99 stop through Andel transit, as well as Metro B and Bus 904, 907, and 908.

CZECH MICRO-BREWERY BEERS ON TAP
Nine years ago, in Prague, the capital of beer, only handful of Czech beers was being represented. We left the capital and spent time in the villages around the entire country, searching for the best regional craft beers. Our dream was to bring all these great breweries to Prague. Thus, we founded Prague Beer Museum, a place to bring the best beers we found.

PRAGUE
Cocktail guide & wine bar guide
The best cocktail bars in Prague (like the ones listed here) get pretty busy, even during the week. It's always good to make a reservation just to make sure you get a seat (even at the bar).
Le Valmont 9)
Uhelný trh 9, Prague 1 levalmont.cz The Michael Van Cleef Ault concept was inspired by the Miloš Forman movie of the same name, and is decorated in 18th-century French fashion with aubusson carpets, antique sofas, and massive crystal chandeliers. Reservations are all but required, since the 100-capacity lounge fills up fairly quickly. +420 224 267 266 for Reservations.
Schody Home Bar 7^
Zámecké schody 8, Prague 1 Recently opened bespoke cocktail bar and sister to one of our favorite cocktail places, Parlour. Located right on the stairs (schody) leading to the Prague Castle, it's hard to find but well worth the search. Once you're inside, tell the mixologist what flavors you like and he'll fix up your dream cocktail. No website, no number - it's a cozy hidden secret and they're trying to keep it that way.
Black Angel's 8#
Staroměstské náměstí 29, Prague 1 blackangels.cz Nestled in a cozy cellar just across from the Old Town astronomical clock, Black Angel’s will put you in sensory overload. With high cellar ceilings, chandeliers, and ornate decor, it’s a lot to take in. +420 224 213 807 for Reservations.
Bar and Books 8%
Mánesova 64, Prague 2 and Týnská 19, Prague 1 barandbooks.cz Bar & Books is the first overseas extension of the famous New York family of bars, with two locations in Prague (the casual hangout in Mánesova and slightly more formal experience in Týnská). Like its New York counterpart, the bar evokes the feeling of a gentleman’s library. Dim lighting, heavy woods, ornately framed paintings, and of course books (mostly for visual aesthetics). Reservations online.
L'Fleur 9$
V kolkovně 5, Prague 1 lfleur.cz L’Fleur is just a few doors down from Tretter’s. Even before our first drink, we fell in love with the 1920’s feel of the interior, complete with a Mucha-inspired stained glass window towards the back of the bar. The signature drinks all come with their own history, which the bartender is always happy to explain. If you’re feeling a bit more bubbly, try a selection from L’Fleur’s expansive champagne list. +420 734 255 665 for Reservations
Parlour 8$
Hemingway Bar 9!
parlour.cz Maybe Parlour doesn’t want to be found – and that’s fine with us. The tiny little bar at the top of Wenceslas Square near the National Museum has a delightful speakeasy vibe to it, though it’s quickly becoming a popular secret. If you should luck out and discover the nearly unmarked entry, inside you’ll find an intimate, dimly lit bar with old jazz and R&B records playing and amazing craft cocktails served in antique glassware. +420 777 200 015 for Reservations.
hemingwaybar.cz Chances are, if you’ve asked around, Hemingway's Bar has already been recommended. The Old Town hotspot just made the “World’s Top 50 Bars” for the third time, and with good reason. The bar’s philosophy is that every customer must have a seat, so you won’t feel overcrowded here. Reservations are highly recommended. +420 773 974 764 for Reservations.

Bugsy’s also loves their bubbly, and boasts over 130 brands of champagne and prosecco, as well as over 90 single malt whiskeys and 100 types of rum. +420 224 810 287 for Reservations.
Tretter's 8@
V kolkovně 3, Prague 1 tretters.cz The Tretter family has been in the bar business for more than 90 years, so it’s no wonder this place feels like walking into a 1930’s Paris or New York cocktail bar. AnonymouS Bar 9# Michalská 12, Prague 1
anonymousbar.cz It’s nearly impossible to go into the AnonymouS Bar and not smile, the bar is clever at every turn. Reservations are taken only until 9pm. +420 608 280 069 for Reservations.

cashonlybar.cz Just around the corner from its older sibling Hemingway’s, this little gem is making its own name with cocktails like Pin-Up Martini, made with passion fruit, vanilla and champagne. It’s an intimate bar, and they don’t take reservations. There’s also no smoking and, you guessed it—the bar doesn’t take credit cards. Oh, and by the way, they do serve amazing hot dogs.

CLUB GUIDE Roxy 6%
Dlouhá 33, Prague 1 www.roxy.cz
Meet Factory 6*
Ke Sklárně 15, Prague 5 www.meetfactory.cz
The Roxy is one of Prague’s oldest and bestknown clubs. The venue was a popular theatre and ballroom in the 1920’s, but now you’ll find drum and bass, house, techno, and other modern styles on the dancefloor. When the club isn’t hosting a live DJ, it’s the spot for concerts and music festivals.
This music club, art gallery, theater and cinema

Revoluční 3, Prague 1 www.epicprague.com Newcomer to the club scene, Epic has made a name for itself as one of the hottest new clubs in the city. This modern electronic club has three levels that each make you feel like you are at an EDM concert. Truly a full audio-visual experience, the performances at the main stage alone make this spot one of the best choices for a night out. Vibe: Over the top expansive club vibes that make you party ‘til the break of dawn.

M1 Lounge 6(
Masná 1, Prague 1 www.m1lounge.com M1 Lounge is a favorite of locals, expats and even passing-through celebrities, and it’s not hard to see why. The club’s well-known team of skilled DJs keep the place pumping with a mixture of R&B, hip-hop, electro and dance music until the wee hours of morning, and the upscale, luxurious atmosphere makes every night feel like a celebration. Vibe: Upscale, Miami style club
Lucerna 6^
Vodičkova 36, Prague 1 www.musicbar.cz One of the largest and most popular music clubs in Prague, Lucerna is known for its weekly concerts and events. It's most popular on Friday and Saturday nights, when the club’s huge projection screens come alive with 80’s and 90’s music videos. Partygoers of every age and all walks of life can be seen here, getting down to oldie hits from Blondie to Nirvana. Vibe: Like being at your favorite throwback concert, except this time you can get on the stage and dance.
Cross Club 6&
Plynární 23, Prague 7 www.crossclub.cz Cross Club is a labyrinth of small bars and dancefloors pumping music from dubstep and techno to reggae and hip-hop. The club’s psychedelic, industrial décor is a sight to see in itself—every piece of the building from the walls to the ceiling is constructed to move and pulsate with the music, some of it you can even interact with. It’s one of the most unique experiences you’ll have with nightlife in Prague. Cross Club is a bit out of the city center, but worth the trek. Check the website to see what kind of music will be pulsating through the multi-level space. Vibe: Euphoric and alternative, definitely in a category of it’s own.
Vibe: EDM to the extreme every night.

are more locals and fewer tourists here than some of the other large clubs with amazing DJ’s, lasers, and vibes. Dress code is free and easy, flamboyant if you’re feeling daring.
James Dean 7)
V kolkovně 1, Prague 1 www.jamesdean.cz Okay, we admit that this one’s kind of kitschy— but only in the best way. Named for the iconic rebel and actor, the bar has a classic 1950’s American diner feel turned late-night club. Vibe: Modern twist on a classic time, all ages and all sorts of feels.
Harley’s 7(
Dlouhá 18, Prague 1 www.harleys.cz Harley's is described as the coolest hell on earth. This American-style biker bar opens late and is always rockin’ and rollin’ with live DJs and music acts. It’s also in a perfect location, just a two-minute walk from Old Town Square. Vibe: If bikers were European 25-year-olds screaming Nirvana at the top of their lungs.
Retro 7%
Francouzská 4, Prague 2 www.retropraha.cz One for the curious, bored or brave. Retro has become the Czech home of hard house. Their club nights are full to the rafters until the small hours while go-go dancers whip the energetic clubbers into a house driven frenzy. A very friendly atmosphere with smiling faces and sweating brows as far as the eye can see, there
STORM CLUB 7@
Tachovské náměstí 5, Prague 3 www.stormclub.eu Multi-genre club with two stages featuring electronic music on the weekends and concerts throughout the week. Located in Žižkov, this club is nestled behind apartment buildings at the base of Vítkov Park and also boasts a summer beer garden and various hangout spaces in the venue.
La Loca r
Odborů 4, Prague 2 www.laloca.cz Chic, fashionable and a whole lotta fun! One of the very first smoke-free establishments in Prague entertains the crowds all day every day. At night, international vibes mixed with a scrumptious selection of sizzling drinks guarantee a big night-out. Add a carefully selected music program - karaoke, 80s & 90s retro parties, DJ performances, live concerts and rooftop gatherings in the summer - and you can rest assured knowing you’re bound to have fun. Vibe: Perfect option for an entertaining, fun dinner followed by a night of dancing.
Vibe: EDM and Drum&Bass central.

Radost FX 7#
Bělehradská 120, Prague 2 www.radostfx.cz First opened in the early ‘90s just a few years after the Velvet Revolution, Radost FX is open Thursday to Saturday and offers the best of house, R&B and hip hop music—Rihanna even filmed one of her music videos there. Above the club is the venue’s restaurant and cafe, well-known as one of the best brunch spots in all of Prague. Vibe: The place to go to bond with your friends and a
You can’t go wrong with 80’s music. Whether you’re nostaligic or just appreciative of all things “totally awesome”, the two-story venue features an 80’s themed café restaurant on the first floor. But the real story here is the basement. A nicely sized music club with an illuminated dance floor, plus a large bar and VIP lounge make it a night worthy of the MTV generation. Vibe: Classic tunes and upbeat vibes, perfect for a night full of dancing to your favorite, re-vamped 80’s hits.

Vzorkovna (Dog Bar) 7! Chapeau Rouge 7&

The Art of Making Chocolate Chocotopia offers guests a chocolate making experience
Imagine a university where the curriculum revolved around the study of chocolate and the history of its origin. Good news, there is such a place, called Chocotopia where 3-hour courses are offered that allow people, or students in this case, to craft their own Belgian truffles alongside chocolate professionals. From the origins of the cocoa beans that date back to 3,000 B.C to the tempering process completed in bakeries around the world today, you’ll be leaving here as a chocolate connoisseur of sorts. But before getting into the kitchen, Chocotopia takes you through a thousand years of chocolate history, to give you a better understanding of how chocolate has evolved over time. In 15 minutes your given a crash course on how chocolate is created all over the world, but more importantly in the kitchen in front of you. The necessary information given prior to getting your hands dirty will make you an expert for the rest of night. Past the wax figures and colorful storefront filled with a tropical decor and a vast selection of treats lies a rich history of chocolate, more specifically, the cocoa bean itself. Imperative to the process to say the least, this bean revolutionized the food industry due to its versatility. The thick oily substance extracted from the beans, known as Cocoa butter, is used in pharmaceuticals as well as ointments for skin. In fact, eating chocolate didn’t become a staple until the late 19th century. Coenraad Van Houten’s method known as “Dutch Process chocolate” shed light on a new method of consumption.
This along with several retired pieces from past chocolate processes decorate the halls of Chocotopia’s museum. Chocolate thermoses from the 19th century as well as porcelain and ceramic chocolatiers line the display cases alongside a lifesize cocoa plantation worker. “The exposition takes you through different times in Czech history and shows how chocolate helped form the country as we see it today,” says Henk Mestagh, general manager of Chocotopia and Belgian native. Having brought the quality and reputation Belgian chocolate carries, Mestagh created the chocolate shop in 2008 and has proudly overseen production for the past decade. The brief history lesson along with more comes prior to the hands-on experience that has you crafting your own Belgian truffle chocolate. After putting on an apron and toque, the setting of a Belgian chocolate comes to life. Working closely with chocolate glaze to create your own truffles, your mouth will be watering from start to finish. But don’t worry, eating is the main component alongside cooking with this course, so be sure to try all the different types of chocolate! Not only that, but the course gives you the chance to input a design of your own onto three chocolate bars. Like cappuccino art with steamed milk atop steaming hot espresso, the chocolate designs leave a similar look. Each one with their own tempering process, the result is a three-piece Van Gogh set of sweets for both the eyes and taste buds.
“The course is made to help people establish a personal connection with chocolate. Learning about its production, history, customs and actually working with chocolate provides a great opportunity to do this.” Alongside the professionals provides a unique experience to observe and take part in the chocolate making process. At its core, Chocotopia looks to celebrate the sweetness in life. Delicacies like chocolate should be enjoyed in every manner possible, whether that means eating, drinking or making it. Here you can enjoy every method of consumption to the fullest. Chocolate is more than just a dessert wrapped in gold foil, it’s an opportunity to explore the various ingredients that make it what it is. “Here we try to share our passion for adventure and delicious chocolate with every new customer.” Passion is putting it lightly, Chocotopia’s adoration for the wonders of the cocoa bean doesn’t go unnoticed. Moreover, the chocolate is just as much a part of Prague’s history as the Golem and water monster downstairs in the wax museum. From the first mention of chocolate in the Czech lands in the 12th century, the distribution of the bar itself by local producers Orion and Zora, chocolate has solidified its position as a part of the Czech legacy. “We want people to taste the world of chocolate which will hopefully help them to take a different, more intimate view of this delicious product.” July 2019 | THE PRAGUE VISITOR

Colours of Ostrava
With Summer here and the warm weather settled in, the Czech Republic’s Music Festivals are ready to rock the stage once more. This year’s line up at Colours of Ostrava features world renowned artists like Florence and the Machine, The Cure, Rag ‘N’ Bone, and many more. Taking place at an old steel mill turned culture center from July 17th-20th, Colours of Ostrava is set for its annual debut. Founded in 2002, Colours of Ostrava hosts its festival against the backdrop of metallurgical works, mines, and ironworks. Prior to this location, the festival took place at the Silesian Ostrava Castle entertainment district, the eastern most point of the Czech Republic. However, this area became too small as attendance numbers steadily grew over the years with bigger names headlining the festival. The town of Ostrava reflects the technological advancements that would fuel the modernday country we know today. Think of it as the Pittsburgh of the Czech Republic, producing coal, steel, and iron. Despite the rich history of industrial advancement, Ostrava made room for color, birthing the biggest music festival the country hosts today. Past shows have featured Led Zeppelin, lead singer and songwriter Robert Plant, EDM master Tame Impala, and many more which led to their first sold out festival in 2017. It was also in this year that the festival became more diverse in terms of genres and selection. “In 2017 we had quite a big jump in headliners. In terms of diversity it steadily grew”, says Juri Sedlak, PR manager for Colours of Ostrava Festival. Diversity became a source of inspiration in the coming years as stand-up comedy, theatre, workshops, and various other performances began taking the stage at Ostrava. “We have ten new stages with discussions, workshops, for family and
children. We have theatre as well.” A Music festival (despite the name) doesn’t have to be limited to just music, but rather a celebration of arts in its entirety. This is what Colours of Ostrava does best; unpack all there is to offer in artistic expression through music, poetry, theatre, and workshops for everyone to enjoy. In the past, the festival has headlined an eclectic grouping of artists from various genres. This not only diversifies the variety of music but also attracts a much bigger crowd. Even selections of jazz and classical have made an appearance at the festival. “Our big advantage is that we have a wide variety of people in terms of age.” says Sedlak. Just look at the lineup for this year alone; The Cure and Florence and The Machine. The former found success played across rock radio stations in the 80’s endlessly while the other arrived on streamed platforms like Spotify. In terms of reach, Colours of Ostrava has garnered a balanced crowd. Balanced crowd, though, means showcasing bands that aren’t as well-known as others. Local bands strive for success and aim at music festivals as the best method of exposure next to social media. “We try to support local and smaller bands and make sure they get a chance on stage.” Commercial success via music festivals can lead to fame; just look at Glastonbury and Reading headliners like Muse. “This is at the core of the Colours of Ostrava experience, ‘I didn’t know this band before, but now I do.’” Colours of Ostrava is one of the most diverse music festivals in all of Europe, showcasing a number of artists whose respective genres make for a weekend of musical, theatre and stand-up fun. Biggest piece of advice? “Not to sound too generalized, but just have an open mind.”

“Our restaurant descends from an era when celebration of life, culture, luxury, open mindedness, hospitality and happiness all put together were a must. We the two brothers at K have designed the décor of the restaurant in the spirit of what Kapurthala , a European holiday retreat could have looked like. K’s modernity is expressed through its ambience, music and fashionable spirit.”

TEN OF OUR FAVORITE PRAGUE
Garden Restaurants By Elisa Selmi
Sometimes, dinner is just better served outside. Here are ten of our favorite places to dine under open sky with atmospheres to suit. Enjoy!
Cafe Cathedral
Týnská 11, 110 00 Staré Město www.cathedral-cafe-lounge-restaurant.com +420 735 750 571
This magical secret garden is hidden in the heart of Prague, right behind the church of Tyn and Old Towns square. Chrystal chandeliers, white curtains, and a shabby chic flair vibrate through the rustic interior and garden. The restaurant offers great club sandwich, salads, and eggs Benedict.
Kuchyn
Hradčanské nám. 186/1, 118 00 Praha 1-Hradčany www.kuchyn.ambi.cz/en/ +420 736 152 891
This is the place to go when you visit Prague castle. Enter the restaurant and go straight to the kitchen (Kuchyn in Czech) to choose your meal right from the stove. Then move to the amazing terrace overlooking Prague and Petrin hill. A big bonus is the house beer that comes straight from big, chilled tanks.
Manu Risto & Lounge
25, Dětský ostrov 3197, 150 00 Praha www.manuristo.cz +420 725 161 616
This charming Italian bistro has a small summer garden along the riverside. Comfy chairs and soft pillows are the perfect complements for an aperitivo or a late drink. The bistro offers a great selection of fish, homemade pasta, and great Italian wines. Recommended for a wedding proposal, romantic evening, and special events.
Letna Beer Garden
Letenské sady, 170 00 Praha 7-Letná www.letenskyzamecek.cz +420 233 378 200
Cottocrudo
gentle music. Special dishes are available every day along with vegetarian and vegan pastas and salads. Friendly service and excellent wines by the glass.
Manifesto Market
Na Florenci, 110 00 Prague-Nové Město www.manifesto.city
Container food court just a few steps from Namesti Republiky. The market offers a range of optionsfrom poke bowls to gourmet French fries, from pho to oysters. Gastrofanatics have to visit this place with its informal, friendly, and relaxing atmosphere. One of our favorite containers is Chu Yakitori, an innovative food concept by a talented Asian chef. Remember to bring your credit card: Manifesto is cash free.
Coda
Tržiště 368/9, 118 00 Malá Strana www.codarestaurant.cz +420 225 334 761
Prague locals love this beer garden and they come here all summer long. The view of Josefov, the Jewish quarter and Old town, is astounding from here. Service is super simple, food is even more so but the atmosphere is relaxed and it’s easy to make new friends over a beer, or two, or three. There are often outdoor events and concerts here, especially on the weekends.
Ok, this restaurant is not in a garden but on a terracethe most beautiful terrace of Mala Strana. From here, you can see the Castle and St. Nicholas church like nowhere else. Besides having a wonderful view, the food here is delicious. The Czech chef who runs Coda is among the most sensitive and refined of Prague. Don’t miss his creamy risotto, healthy fishes or interpretations on the most traditional Czech dishes. Coda is located on the rooftop of hotel Aria.
Mail Room Bistro
Styl & Interier
Newly opened cozy bistro in the most beautiful square of Mala Strana. During the day, enjoy the cool breeze in the courtyard while go at night to enjoy the soft ambience paired with candles and
This is a perfect courtyard/garden for breakfast, lunches, and even an ice coffee. Styl & Interier is an interior design shop converted to a restaurant, and is an easy 3 minute walk from Wenceslas Square.
Maltézské nám. 480/8, 118 00 Malá Strana www.mailroombistro.com +420 775 068 752
Vodičkova 708/35, 110 00 Nové Město www.stylainterier.cz/kavarna +420 222 543 128
The selection of cakes, sandwiches, and salads is impressive and you will not be disappointed by the teas either. Comfy chairs and large tables will make you feel right at home. If you get the chance, try their lunch specials: inexpensive and very creative, they are particularly tasty and unique.
Polpo
Vladislavova 2121/21, 110 00 Nové Město www.kogo.cz +420 225 017 115
This Mediterranean restaurant is located on the ground floor of Quadrio, a very central shopping mall. Polpo’s garden is well liked because the tables face a well-known monument: Kafka’s head, one of Prague most recent landmarks. On the square, hundreds of tourists gather every day to admire the dance of Kafka’s shiny head. There is a positive atmosphere that is reflected in the food- colorful and delectable. Lunch menu available as well as vegetarian options and pizza!
Cottocrudo
Veleslavínova 1098/2a, 110 00 Josefov www.fourseasons.com 221 426 880
This is the fanciest terrace/garden of all. Cottocrudo is the restaurant in the Prague Four Seasons hotel, everything here is polished and refined. But don’t be scared: the real luxury is its informality and simplicity. The lunch menu is no more expensive than on Old Town Square with the big difference being the food at Cottocrudo is wonderful and the view of the Castle breathtaking. Great place for aperitivo, it’s never overcrowded but it’s better to book a table.

(Political Prisoners) street. The neoclassicist building to the right is Petschkův palác (Petschek Palace). The palace was designed by architect Max Spielmann for merchant banker Julius Petschek in the 1920s and was one of the most modern buildings in Prague at the time. The space is most known, however, as the headquarters of the Gestapo during WWII. Many interrogations and torturings of the Czech Resistance happened here. At the end of the street you'll find the beautiful Prague State Opera building (Státní opera),
previously known as Smetana Theatre after famed Czech composer Bedřich Smetana. Opened in 1888, the opera hosted renowned composers and singers, such as Gustav Mahler, Richard Strauss and Enrico Caruso. The opera is now part of the National Theatre and holds opera and ballet productions in the breathtaking performance hall. Turn to the right and you’ll end up at the newly renovated National Museum overlooking Prague’s vibrant Wenceslas Square.
