What inspired the Diva Hair Box? When did you realize there was a need for a box like this?

I was inspired to create the world’s first hair weave subscription company after I went into several different beauty supply stores, and all of my experiences were the same. I experienced poor customer service, racial profiling, and a lack of knowledge whenever a question about hair or hair products was asked After traveling and needing to frequent other beauty supply stores in other states and countries, I found that this treatment was a pattern I also found that many beauty supply stores were owned and operated by Koreans. However, they were located and served in predominantly black communities

Through experiences and research, I became aware of racial monopolies, racial profiling, and the lack of knowledge in the beauty supply industry, specifically Korean-owned beauty supply stores. If not for me, I needed to find a solution to this problem for my community Now, I have nothing against Koreans and their entrepreneurial spirit However, I have an issue with being stereotyped, having bad customer service, lacking knowledge concerning hair/ hair products, being ignored, being followed, being rushed, and/or being faced with a “hurry up and buy” mentality After sharing my experiences and hearing that others shared the same experience, I knew I needed to create a hair company that delivers high-quality customer service, is knowledgeable concerning hair/hair products, offers shipping convenience, and offers discounts and exclusive rewards to its clients.

After all, it’s our hair! I felt there was a major area left uncovered: supplying hair products, the added hair, the accessories, and even hair trends This is why Diva Hair Box was created Diva hair box fills these voids and creates a community where novices and experts can come together to learn, grow, and feel supported with their hair journey

What obstacles have you had to overcome to get your brand where it is today?

There are many obstacles an individual must overcome when creating anything new With this in mind, I knew it was imperative to keep going and overcome the many obstacles I faced My biggest challenge was the challenge of ME (my inner self), the challenge of depression, not having all the answers, not knowing which way to go, and the challenge of completing a patent for Diva Hair Box on my own I can list many challenges, but giving up wasn’t an option, not when my community depended on it

My definition of a pretty woman who hustles is not dependent upon a woman ’ s physical attributes, but it is dependent upon her character A pretty woman who hustles is someone who is beautiful on the inside and the outside, a woman who is kind, gracious, and compassionate, a woman who is a leader, a visionary, and a boss A woman who is unafraid to go after her dreams and conquer her fears A woman who gets out of bed, even when she doesn’t feel like it A woman who stands when all else has failed, a woman with tenacity, hunger, and pride, a business mind, and a provider A woman who understands the hustle isn’t just for her but for the pride that follows To me, this is the epitome of a pretty woman who hustles
