Three years ago, a mystery man pulled his car into Hornbeam Close, Horsham, and snatched Sage as he wandered about near his home. Sage’s owner Nicky Blyth, then only 14, was naturally devastated, as was Sage’s sister and playmate, Parsley. As the days turned to weeks and months, there seemed little hope in finding Sage. That was until he turned up in Rusper, malnourished and feeding on birds. It was another year though, when he was taken to the vet by a lady who had found him and cared for him, when it was found he was chipped. And after a three year adventure, he was reunited last week with Nicky. Nicky said: “We got Sage and Parsley, our Tabby cat, when they were six weeks old about four years ago. “Sage used to go off for a day like some cats do, so we didn’t really worry at first, but as a couple of days went by we became more worried.
Pussycat, Where have you been? “One of the neighbours saw somebody drive in and grab a black cat, so we thought that must have been Sage. We asked around the area without any luck and when he never came back we assumed he had died. “When he disappeared I was only 14 so I was very upset. He was my baby! So it was amazing to hear he had returned. “Rod called me up whilst I was in Portugal on holiday and I couldn’t wait to get back. It’s like he has never been away. He is very affectionate but still tries to push me off my own bed. He thinks he owns the place! It was Nicky’s stepfather Rod Kershaw who took the call from the veterinary clinic. Rod said: “I was working away and got this call from a vet in Brighton. “He said ‘do you own a cat called Sage?’ I replied that we did, and explained that he’d been stolen three years ago.
