Did you manage to catch any of the London Paralympics over the past few weeks? After suffering withdrawal symptoms when the Olympics ended, it was amazing to tune in and watch these sportsmen and women compete to the fullest, not allowing their disability to hinder their dreams. The UAE’s athletes did an amazing job and brought back a full set of Paralympics medals, the biggest haul in history for the Emirates! We’d like to send huge congratulations to all those who competed and an especially big mabrook to Al Ain’s very own gold medal winner Abdullah Sultan Al Aryani! Last week, saw New York fashion week take place in the Big Apple and, amongst the designers and models, there was a definite hint towards what might be described as faith based fashion. We took a look at how fashion has a place in the lives of many young Muslim women and how several of them are truly making it work for them. Finally, having just returned from an amazing trip to Beirut, I couldn’t help but feel sorry for the poor schmuck seated a few rows in front of me on the return flight. Squished between a fairly large lady and an equally proportionate man, who proceeded to be the loudest passengers on the plane, this poor guy had an awful journey. So, this week’s Stuff for Men takes a quick look at how to bag yourself the best seat on the plane, even when you’re stuck in economy class. Happy reading!

It’s small but informative and definitely worth a visit for anyone interested in the UAE’s flora and fauna. The museum exhibits a herbarium and collections of various species of animals and birds, as well as a collection of rocks, minerals and fossils.

Ayla Hotel’s Etihad Giveaway Visitors and guests of the Ayla Hotel who visited during Ramadan or spent the Eid break there were invited back to the hote for a post Eid party last week. Hosted by the Ayla Hotel’s whole team, no effort was spared in a bid to thank and reward loyal guests of the hotel for their support and continued encouragement. Donors Answer Ayat’s Appeal

A 6-year-old Palestinian girl, living in Al Ain, has received the necessary donations she needed in order to have reconstructive facial surgery. Little Ayat was burned three years ago after hot oil spilled on her face and left her physically deformed. Since then, donors have risen around AED 125000 for her treatment yet the donations began to dry up before her surgeries were complete. Following a new appeal last week, two donors came forward to help out. One kindhearted contributor donated AED 46000 to Ayat’s cause while the other deposited AED5000 in the family’s bank account in order to fund the rest of her treatment. Her father, Ghassan Shaweesh, is grateful for the donations which will allow his daughter’s treatment to be finished at Tawam Hospital in Al Ain. Struggling with a low salary and six other children to look after meant Ayat’s father was unable to fund her surgery himself.

Holiday Time at Dar Zayed Last week, Dar Zayed Orphanage in Al Ain sent a group of orphaned children on an exciting trip to Indonesia. Mr. Mubarak Al Ammri, Head of Programs and Activities division at Dar Zayed, said this was not a one-time gift for the children but is a regular annual occurrence, similar to the yearly holidays taken in many other families. Previously the children have visited Qatar and Malaysia. “We want them to touch normal life, to feel it,” explained Al Ammri. He continued, “We give them a full budget for a month and they can save some of this money to travel. We want them to learn how to manage finances”.

Salem Al Kaabi, Dar Zayed’s General Manager stressed that “The main target is to integrate them in society”. Whilst travelling, the kids are under the supervision of their house mothers. Dar Zayed Organization cares for around 440 abandoned, orphaned and neglected children, housing them in villas scattered throughout different areas of Al Ain City. Each villa has six children and two housemothers to look after them. The kids attend regular government schools, playgroups and afterschool activities in a bid to give them as stable a family life as possible.

The family hopes that after the operations, Ayat will be able to live a normal life without the stares and questions of passers-by.

Etihad cancel Syrian flights Etihad Airways has canceled all flights between Abu Dhabi and Damascus with immediate effect until further notice. The airline announced the decision was “not taken lightly” but the safety of the passengers and crew was “paramount.” Etihad will notify affected passengers and will offer full compensation for any unused tickets. thesourceuae.com

Abu Dhabi to Unveil World’s Biggest Gate

Abu Dhabi emirate is hoping to celebrate the UAE 41st National Day with another entry in the record books when they unveil the world’s biggest gate. The Khalifa in World Languages Project, launched by the Sultan bin Zayed’s Culture and Media Centre in partnership with the Zayed Higher Organization for Humanitarian Care and Special Needs and UAE University, will be launched on 2 December in honor of HH President Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. UAE Makes Effort To Save Dugongs

The Environment Agency Abu Dhabi (EAD) in partnership with Total UAE is running a series of programs aimed to protect dugongs from extinction. It’s estimated about 40 per cent of the world’s dugongs live in Abu Dhabi and, according to a classification by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), dugongs are currently listed as endangered. According to Gulf News, Head of Total UAE, Jean Luc Guizot explained “The partnership between the Environment Agency of Abu Dhabi and Total emphasizes the commitment of the government of Abu Dhabi to protect the environment and wildlife.”

Global Village to last 161 days

To be hosted at Twofour54, the judging panel will be comprised of 12 of the region’s most prominent content producers and media specialists. Pyramedia CEO and Board member, Nashwa Al Ruwaini, believes that the event is a clear indication of Abu Dhabi government’s success in advancing the local film and media industry in the global market. Over the past three years, these judging panels have seen over 50 judges from all areas of television and film production descend upon the capital from all over the UAE, the Gulf and Europe. 10

Global Village, one of the UAE’s premier shopping, entertainment and leisure destinations, will open its doors ahead of the Eid Al-Adha break this year; the first time it has done so in its 17-year-history. The exhibition will now run from 21st October until 30 March 2013. Chief Executive of Global Village, Mr. Saeed Ali bin Redha, explained that the extension

to 161 days was in order to meet the demands of the general public and to satisfy exhibitors who had expressed an interest in a longer season. A member of TECOM investments, Global Village attracted around five million visitors during its 2011-2012 season and, this year, organizers expect an even bigger turnout due to both the Eid and New Year breaks.

GOLDEN GLORY FOR UAE SHOOTER

With the Paralympic flame extinguished in a closing ceremony in London on Sunday, the UAE has every reason to celebrate after securing the country’s biggest ever haul of medals. Participating among the world’s biggest ever contest of 4200 disabled athletes, hailing from a total of 165 nations, the Emirati team made the country proud by winning a complete set of medals.

Active shooter Abdullah Sultan Al Aryani, from Al Ain’s Club for the Disabled, claimed gold in the mixed R6-50m air rifle prone SH1 on the sixth day of the 11-day event that witnessed record participation. A former member of the UAE shooting squad, Al Aryani was left paralyzed after being involved in a serious car accident. He didn’t take long to make a comeback to the sport, this time participating as a disabled athlete. Abdullah’s win is only the second ever

Paralympic gold medal for the UAE, after Mohammed Khamis Khalaf took first place in weightlifting in the 2004 Athens Games. His performance started of shakily, finishing 23rd out of 44 in the mixed R3-10m air rifle episode but doing better in the R1-10m challenge. He then scooped gold in the R650m air rifle test and finished a respectable sixth in his fourth and final event, the R750m rifle (SH1). Obaid Al Dahmani, another shooter for the UAE, also preformed remarkably well, finishing eighth and beating his own personal best records. Chairman of the UAE National Paralympics Committee, Mohammed Fadhel Al Hameli, was bursting with pride over his teams’ achievements stating, “It was another good effort from our shooters… [they can hold] their heads high.”

DOUBLE WIN FOR HAMMADI Sharjah-based, UAE athlete Mohammed Qayed Hammadi, added to the country’s medal count by clinching both silver and bronze medals at the London Paralympics. The 27-year-old athlete grabbed the silver medal in the wheelchair 200m sprint and set a new Paralympics record of 29.03 seconds. This record was smashed in the subsequent heat by Tunisian Walid, who finished in just 27.98 seconds, setting yet another record. Hammadi went on to take bronze with a finish of 16.41 seconds in the 100m sprint, after Australian Rheed McCracken passed him to take silver and Ktila claimed yet another gold. Mohammed’s double certainly added to the UAE’s glory at the Paralympics and the whole team can be proud of their achievements.

AL AIN’S ISMAIL AHMED JOINS UAE SQUAD Al Ain’s central defender, Ismail Ahmed has been chosen by newly appointed coach, Mahdi Ali, to play with the national squad. The 29-year-old Emirati-Moroccan player explained, “I think when a player plays for a national team he feels important and this is an important phase in my life. It is the dream of any footballer to defend the name of the country he serves in international championships.” Having made his move to Al Ain in 2008 from Moroccan side Fus de Rabat, Ahmed has since made the club proud with his great defensive abilities. He is honored to have been selected by the coach, a man he clearly has a lot of respect for, “Mahdi has a rich CV and his achievements speak volumes about him. He proved himself as one of the best coaches when he led the UAE to the AFC U-19 Championship in 2008 and the Gulf Championships.” With the 2015 Asian Cup within sight for the UAE National Squad, Ahmed hopes to make both his club and country proud. thesourceuae.com

This year’s catwalk trends elegantly and successfully fuse designer fashion with Muslim traditions

odesty and Muslim: two words that both start with the letter M but for many that’s where the similarities end. However, with fashion weeks kicking off across the globe last week, it was clear there are some faith based fashion changes in the midst.

New York fashion designer, Nailah Lymus is the founder of “Underwraps”, a new modeling agency solely for Muslim women. Nailah believed that the world of fashion isn’t something any woman should be excluded from simply because of her religion and decided to set up the first ever Muslim modeling agency. She was excited to see some of her models involved in New York fashion week where designers flock to showcase their latest collections to the world.

FEATURE faced a lot of criticism for her actions, feels that a modeling agency specifically for Muslim women, that ensures modesty is preserved, is definitely a step forward in allowing Muslim women to model without facing disapproval. Designers too, are embracing the change. One such designer is American Muslim Nzinga Knight, who concentrates on fashion that covers rather than reveals. Showing at this year’s NY Fashion week, her models sashayed down the runway with their modesty wholly intact. A few years ago, Nzinga realized that there was a distinct gap in the market for Muslim women looking to complement their beliefs with their New York style. After a visit to the UAE, she noticed the subtle differences in the intricate details of Emirati abayas and decided to design a collection specifically aimed at women who follow Islam. Her latest collection features stunning floor length evening gowns, dresses and beautiful blouses. Although her clothing is modest, it is by no means inconspicuous and contains some truly striking pieces. Nzinga’s collection shows that the limitations placed on designers targeting Muslim women and their fashion choices are not overly restrictive and that, with a little imagination, faith based fashion can be beautiful.

Those designers who opt to use models from Underwraps will have a few clauses to follow in order to allow the models to feel completely at ease. Gone will be the frantic, backstage changes in rooms packed with both men and women and, instead, the agency will provide individual, portable changing rooms. Skin on show is a huge no-no as Nailah’s aim is to allow Muslim women to model, without abandoning any part of their faith. High necks, long sleeves, veils and scarves will be the order of the day but Nailah believes that rather than being a negative element, these restrictions give designers and photographers the opportunity to show their creativity within the very real constraints faced by Muslim women in the fashion world. Born and brought up in New York City, Nailah’s parents had converted to Islam before she was born and thus she has always had a strong obligation to her beliefs. Upon entering the world of fashion, she discovered that there was a definite lack of both fashion and models representing Muslim women, perhaps becuase the religion states that clothes should be loose enough so as not to reveal a woman’s body shape and that only feet, hands and face should be on show. This is something that Nailah hopes to change, believing that models, no matter what their religion, can be glamorous, stylish and in demand, whilst conforming to their religious beliefs.

A lot of young, Muslim women are also attempting to blend their daily wearing of the hijab with their fashion and self expression, and many of them are becoming entirely successful in the quest. This growing number of women are often referred to as ‘Hijabistas’, a term defined as women who take designer fashion and give it a hijab-friendly twist, ensuring that everything except face and hands are covered. While there are still those who believe that the showy nature of fashion contradicts with Islamic beliefs, Jana Kossiabiati, founder of popular fashion blog ‘Hijab Style’ disagrees. In her opinion, fashion is a legitimate part of Islam as the religion doesn’t prescribe rigid colors or styles, but simply informs women that there are areas they need to cover up but the rest is up to them. Renowned London based designer, Sarah Elanany, concurs saying that fashion is simply about expression and that her designs are a celebration of Islamic culture. While it will undoubtedly take, imaginative designers, dedicated models and a lot of time before changes become mainstream, it’s safe to say that the fashion world is certainly taking the bull by the horns when it comes to diversifying what we see on the catwalk and that, can surely only be a good thing.

So far things are looking good for the agency, which was launched earlier this year at Rare Boutique, in swanky Tribeca, New York City. With four girls already in development, the a gency seems to be going from strength to strength. Bagging the Best Seat on a Plane By Hayley Skirka

We all like to fly business class but, sometimes, it’s just not feasible. Yet, being sandwiched between a loud, overweight man and his fidgety, nagging wife on a non-stop, red eye is something no-one looks forward to. For those times when you find yourself having to go economy class, remember these rules for a comfy(ish) trip. ●

If there are two back-to-back exit rows, opt for the second as sometimes the first row doesn’t recline. If you’re on an overnight flight then, chances are, you’ll want to get some shut-eye. Avoid noise by opting for seats closer to the front, but not right at the top of the plane. This seems to be where flight attendants chat and get the meals ready. Also, avoid any partitions between seating sections as this is where they tend to put the babies, thanks to the space for baby cots. Finally, don’t opt for a seat too close to the bathroom; you’ll be constantly disturbed by folks going to and from the restroom.

Don’t assume that just because you picked your seat when you booked the ticket you will still have the window seat at the front of the plane. Sometimes airlines swap planes to adjust for heavier or lighter passenger load and, when they do this, people are juggled around. Call a few days before to reconfirm you have the seat you wanted. You tried to choose exit row seats when you booked but they told you everything was full? 24 hours before you fly, go online and check if things are still the same. Sometimes airlines will move passengers from these seats if they are under 16, don’t have good hearing or can’t conform to some other restriction.

Finally, don’t stress out about getting a seat in the so-called ‘preferred’ or ‘express’ seats. Nine times out of ten, these are just the airline charging you extra for front row seats. If they’re available, go for the seats right behind these, they’re just as good and won’t cost you any extra leaving you more spending bucks for your trip. Result!

REVIVING TRADITIONS Emirati brothers, Salah and Huraiz, have constructed the largest dhow in the UAE in a bid to keep this traditional industry alive. By Mehak Alam

“The true ship is the ship builder.” RALPH WALDO EMERSON, American Novelist For many centuries, traditional wooden dhows have graced the Arabian Gulf, their sails bent to the wind whilst bobbing amidst the gorgeous azure blue waters. The advent of modern technology however, and the demand of keeping up with high-paced developments have all but resulted in the death of the traditional craft of building these dhows. Last week, I took a trip to the Al Jaddaf Dry Docks in Dubai as part of a trip which reminded me that there are still some people striving to keep this prestigious dhow industry, which was once the economical hub of the developing UAE, alive. Emirati brothers Salah and Huraiz Ahmed bin Touq Al Merri are two men who are keen to restore this proud tradition of the UAE. I was

fortunate enough to meet with Salah, a hugely ambitious man with big dreams and a great deal of determination. The Al Merri family has been in the dhow building business for almost 150 years and Salah told me proudly, “I was born into a family of ship and dhow builders, captains and sailors.” In February 2008, the brothers decided to privately fund and build the largest ever dhow that would not only represent the UAE but also bring their family business back into the limelight. Salah glances out of his office window, points at the extraordinary dhow and proudly says “That’s Fazza.” The ship’s name, which coincidently is the same as the nickname of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai, means “To help someone in times of need. The country went through an economical and financial crisis in 2008 and that’s when we thought of doing something for the country and that’s when the idea of strengthening the local economy of the country came to us. And that’s when we thought of reviving history and seeking assistance from the traditional dhow industry.” Currently

in the last phase of completion, Fazza will not only be the largest UAE cargo dhow, it will also be a strong representation of heritage, culture and traditions of the UAE. Constructing such a vessel is a huge feat and I’m fascinated as Salah explains the process. Both brothers are actively involved in the building process, often working alongside with the laborers for the project, under the scorching sun and covered in sawdust. This is necessary to ensure that each and every wooden plank and iron rod is correctly placed. By the time the dhow officially launches in October this year, Salah expects Fazza will weigh over 3500 tons. Once complete, the dhow will be used to transport cars to Ethiopia via Somalia on a journey that will take around ten days.

Salah and Huraiz are brothers who are proud of their culture and heritage and who cannot stand to see these long standing traditions being forgotten. Salah feels that today’s youth think of dhow building simply as a “means of earning bread in the past.” He’s afraid that this lack of interest could result in a lost tradition and hopes that the building of Fazza, a record breaking dhow in a society where breaking records is fantastically popular, will motivate youngsters to become involved with and help to develop the industry even further. He simply does not want the art of dhow building to be a forgotten tradition and strives to help the industry thrive for generations to come. While sipping on his traditional Arabic qahwa [coffee], I asked Salah what life lessons he had gained that he might wish to share with others…

READ ALL ABOUT IT!!!’ These words would ring out every day; enticing folk to rush out and get the latest newspaper to read the breaking news. Now, let’s jump forward in time. Think of the last time you went to the mall. The most common thing you probably saw were people staring at their mobile phones, BB this, and SMS that! Instead of the latest local news, folks are now more interested in seeing who the latest person to POKE them on Facebook is. A drastic change indeed!

What has happened to the love of ‘real reading’? Do you know what I’m talking about? I mean the pleasure and serenity of just sitting down with a book, in any language, and taking your time to embrace the ambiance of the heart-gripping scenes that unfold in your imagination. Did you know that the latest statistics show the average American reads only 11 to 15 books per year, and a British reader devours around nine? Unfortunately, there is less data on the reading habits of students however, I am sure, every teacher reading this today will agree that the number of books our students are reading is only a fraction of what we, as educators, would like it to be. So what can we do? I suppose the most basic thing we can do is bring the love of reading back to the forefront. Teachers, and parents alike, can make a difference. Here are some great ways to encourage our students and help revitalize this ‘lost love’. 1. ENCOURAGE STUDENTS. Show them that we care and want them to improve their lives by improving their reading skills. Positive reinforcement, from both parents and teachers, will go a long way. A word of caution, don’t force students to read! Instead, try setting up regular timings in which the class, or the family, reads quietly together. Let them choose what they want to read and let them start off light. Remember, the idea is to try and start a life-long habit, so don’t push it.

SCIENCE FESTIVAL TO OPEN NEXT MONTH The second edition of the popular Abu Dhabi Science Festival will open next month at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre. The festival, organized by the Technology Development Committee (TDC) in collaboration with Abu Dhabi Education Council, aims to attract and inspire children towards careers in the sciences.

SCHEDULE REGULAR VISITS TO THE LIBRARY OR BOOKSTORE. Give children some time to thumb through reading material and explore what types of books they would enjoy.

REWARD STUDENTS WITH BOOKS. Choose books about the topics, or hobbies, that you know they enjoy. Show them that reading is not just academic; it is for everything in life and can be lots of fun!

READ ALOUD TO THEM! It’s fun for all ages and encourages reading.

CHOOSE COMPUTER GAMES WISELY. Gaming is here to stay, so look for games that involve lots of reading and thinking.

ENCOURAGE THEM TO WRITE A BOOK. This is a wonderful way to open up children, not only to reading, but to writing skills also. I have heard of many successful class projects that publish a class-authored book of short stories every year, what a fantastic idea! Even young kids will be able to put a few sentences together to make a story.

As in 2011, the Corniche will serve as a parallel venue for the event. Al Wahda and Al Mushrif malls in Abu Dhabi as well as Al Ain Mall and Al Gharbia’s City Mall will also be participating in the event and providing fun, science based activities throughout their establishments.

One final note, don’t discourage any student that starts a book, but doesn’t finish it; we have all started books and decided to let them go. Just encourage them to try another genre or author!

APPROVED FUNDS FOR EMIRATI GRADUATES

Funds for a vocational diploma program for Emirati high school graduates have been approved by the Committee after assent was given by HH Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs. The beneficiaries of the program will include 3775 students from across the emirates with 1919 exclusively from the emirate of Abu Dhabi. The two year vocational training program will be implemented by the Abu Dhabi Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (ACTVET) in coordination with the Higher Colleges of Technology. According to Gulf News, Ahmad Jumaa Al Za’abi, Deputy Minister for Presidential Affairs who chaired the Committee’s meeting, remarked “ACTVET will cover the study costs for students from Abu Dhabi and the committee will pay Dh67.2million for students from all other emirates.” thesourceuae.com

Orange juice-glazed carrots Ingredients 1 /2 cup orange juice 1 /2 cup chicken broth 1 tsp cornstarch 2 tsp extra-virgin olive oil 6-8 carrots, chopped julienne 1 tsp butter 1 /4 tsp salt thyme for garnishing Method • Mix orange juice, chicken broth and cornstarch in a bowl. • Heat olive oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. hough a few years have passed, every time I sit down and think about my visit to Marrakech, my senses awaken as I recall the sights, sounds and smells of this intoxicating city. Marrakech truly is a city of immense beauty; low, red, tent-like dunes nestled snugly below the dramatic peaks of the Atlas Mountains. I think of how, on my visit there, I weaved through the labyrinth of souks, uncovered endless treasures and felt full of vitality and excitement as I scurried among the bustling thoroughfares that surrounded the ancient, walled city. Marrakech is made up of two parts: the ancient walled Medina, founded by Sultan Youssef Ben Tachfine in the Middle Ages, and the colonial Ville Nouvelle, built by the French in the mid-twentieth century. The Medina, with its ancient palaces and mansions, its mazes of souks and deeply traditional way of life, contrasts favourably with the Ville Nouvelle, with its pavement cafés, trendy boutiques, gardens and boulevards. Marrakech reeks pleasantly of the Middle East and Africa: spices, incense, oud and freshly cut wood. Yet, at the same time, has a French-inspired elegance in its haute cuisine, stylish boutiques and gorgeous fashions. There’s no doubt why Marrakech is known as the Red City. The natural red ochre pigment that bedecks its walls and buildings can, at times, seem dominant but there’s no shortage of other colors and few cities are as vibrant as this one. Marrakech is quick to catch you with its magic at odd moments; perhaps while strolling across the Jamaa el Fna at night, amid the smoky plumes and delicious aromas of the food stalls or maybe while sitting in a garden full of fountains, beneath the minaret of the Koutoubia Mosque. The Jamaa el Fna is undoubtedly the focus of the Medina, an open

space in which shifting circles of onlookers gather around groups of acrobats, musicians, dancers, storytellers, comedians and fairground acts. Marrakech is a city of new dining experiences, as my husband and I discovered while staying at Riad Pourpre in the Medina. Our host, Ouafa, treated us to freshly made Moroccan bread every morning, served with honey and lovingly prepared by her cook, a warm, motherly woman who insisted we take our breakfast on the roof top where we could listen to the sounds of the city stirring. Of course, we always ended our meals with a refreshing cup of steaming, hot tea poured in the traditional Moroccan way, something we became quite familiar with throughout our visit. During our stay we sampled classic Moroccan dishes such as pastilla (sweet poultry pie), harira (a thick, hearty soup), tajine (slow cooked stew served in a clay pot), chicken with olive oil and preserved lemon, lamb served with prunes and almonds and couscous with its customary seven vegetables. Adventurous as we were, we never quite found the courage to try the snail stew sold every night by vendors on the Jamaa el Fna! Not to be outdone, the Ville Nouvelle also had its fair share of French and Italian eateries with an exuberant nightlife to match.

YSL’s Jardin Majorelle Intrigued by the city’s architectural attractions, from the delicate Granada-style carving of the Saadian Tombs, the magnificent rambling ruin of the El Badi Palace, the stately interior of the Bahia Palace, to the exquisite Ben Youssef Medersa, a beautifully decorated Koranic school, we truly were in sightseeing paradise. Above all, the Koutoubia Minaret, the most perfect Islamic monument in North Africa, stole the show with its shape and feeling of lightness that sets the standard for all minarets of Morocco. Within the twelfth century walls of the Medina we found a profusion of mosques, Koranic schools, zaouias (tombs of holy men and women) and museums packed with ancient artefacts. At times, we felt we needed a break from the bustle of the city streets, and we found this in the beautiful, historic and unexpected gardens dotted around the city which proved perfect for grabbing a few moments tranquillity before setting off on a new avenue of exploration. My favourite of these had to be the Majorelle Garden, an intricately designed garden stuffed with cacti, bamboo groves, lily ponds and a stunning cobalt Art Deco pavilion, which now houses the ashes of its infamous owner, Yves Saint Laurent. Our visit ended with a journey to the surrounding peaks and valleys of the High Atlas, where wild flowers dot pastoral landscapes and Berber life continues undisturbed. I left Marrakech vowing that, one day, I would most certainly return, even if only in my thoughts.
