The internet loves cats, this we all know. So when a massively jacked feline known as ‘buff cat’ got a Twitter account and started dominating everyone’s screens, the reaction was predictably hysterical. Buff cat was first noticed on the streets of Montreal, Canada by a feline fan. His fan base has steadily grown to the point that his official Twitter page now has over 17k followers, and has spawned a whole load of hilarious memes. While some people are concerned that Buff Daddy might have some serious health issues going on, others have speculated that he may have a rare genetic disorder that causes some animals, usually cattle, to become ‘double muscled.’ Either way, we hope he’s gonna be OK and can be found again. Latest news is that the anonymous woman behind the Twitter account will go out searching for old Buffy again today; fingers crossed he comes out to play!

24-HOUR SALE AT THESE UAE MALLS Up to 90% discount will be up for grabs during the mega sale

Bargain hunters in UAE will be treated to non-stop shopping for 24 hours during the Eid Al Fitr weekend and prices will be slashed by up to 90 per cent. Aldar Properties’ Yas Mall, The Mall at World Trade Center Abu Dhabi and Al Jimi Mall Al Ain have joined forces for the second annual 24-Hour mega sale, it was announced on Tuesday. Retailers at these malls will offer discounts of up to 90 per cent and there will be giveaways including a Tesla Model-X car. The mega sale will kick off on June 15 at 10am. There will be discounts on 400 brands of fashion, jewellery, accessories, electronics, home furniture and sporting equipment. “We are pleased to build on the success of Yas Mall’s inaugural 24-hour event last year which brought over 250,000 shoppers in one day, by adding in more malls to join in the fun - including the Mall at WTC, Abu Dhabi and Al Jimi Mall in Al Ain,” said Saoud Khoory, Yas Mall general manager. Dr. Nazakat Hussain The People at CMRC Tell us something about yourself; your journey as a medical professional? I completed my consultant training in rehabilitation medicine at Royal College of Physicians in London, with a sub-specialization in Spinal Cord Injury Management. I worked as a consultant at the prestigious Princess Royal Spinal Cord Injuries and Neuro Rehabilitation Center at Sheffield, UK. Having spent a large part of my childhood in the UAE, I decided to move to my second home to share my expertise and knowledge with a community that provided me with so many opportunities during my early years. In the UAE, I first joined the American Hospital in Dubai and established their rehabilitation department. After my stint at the American Hospital, I joined Cambridge Medical and Rehabilitation Center for further professional development. As a rehabilitation specialist, my areas of focus include spinal cord injury management, neuro-rehabilitation of stroke, traumatic brain injury, and other neuro-logical conditions. I also have a special interest in the management of spasticity, including botulinum toxin treatment and intrathecal baclofen. My background in orthopedic surgery gives me a wide exposure in the medical management of musculoskeletal problems. What brought you to CMRC? As I was working with the American Hospital in Dubai, which is one of the best elite hospitals in tertiary and specialist care, the scope of Rehabilitation Medicine was limited. I wished to explore a wider, more challenging environment that is focused on rehabilitation and post-

acute care. I joined Cambridge Medical and Rehabilitation Center as it offers a wider spectrum of conditions with specialized multi-disciplinary rehabilitation teams. Compared to multi-specialty hospitals that offer a variety of services, CMRC focuses on rehabilitation across domains. This also means that I don’t need to fight to get therapy sessions for my patients as all the patients here are treated like VIPs. In other hospitals, rehabilitation is not the primary focus. How has your CMRC experience been so far? In comparison to other rehabilitation facilities, CMRC provides a full spectrum of rehabilitation services including pediatric rehabilitation, ventilator support rehabilitation, neuro musculoskeletal rehabilitation as well as amputee rehabilitation. We also have excellent medical cover in the form of highly qualified specialist physicians in intensive care, pediatrics, and internal medicine. I’m really impressed with the day to day organization structure of patient / client management. We have a very high standard of inpatient and out-patient services that are being provided. Separate teams with their own team leads are providing those two very different lines of services by focusing on quality. A clear bifurcation in the structure of services to inpatients and outpatients enables us to provide the highest quality of care and focus. The entire team is highly qualified and experienced and able to deal with a host of conditions and challenges. Our multi-disciplinary team includes rehabilitation physicians, speech and language pathologists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, respiratory therapists, and re-creational therapists. This is complimented with state-of-the-art equipment, a gymnasium, and hydrotherapy pools. All the activities are overseen by our senior leadership who are very easily accessible and fully involved, even with the day to day clinical and non-clinical management of our patients.

Dinosaurs v Graptolites

Dr. Ken Greig, Headmaster of Brighton College Al Ain. ack in 2009, I wrote a Headmaster’s blog piece about internet search engine bias. I was trying to show the pupils at my school how the nature of what you are searching for affects how successful you are likely to be, and how sometimes, it can be almost impossible to find what you are looking for just because of the way the search engine works. This was an important message then, but nine years on, the technology has become more complex and arguably, more biased. Because ‘Google it’ is a reflex response to not knowing something these days, we need to be very clear where the limitations and bias creep in. The example I used back then was searching for scientific information. Today if you type ‘dinosaur extinction’ into Google, you get 23,500,000 results. Back in 2009 it was only 450,000 which, as an aside, tells you a great deal about the growth of the Web. Most of the results on the first page are quite well explained popular accounts of the various theories that exist about the extinction of the ‘dinosaurs’. Now, I have to confess, at this point I have a bias of my own going on, because as a geologist, I get annoyed when I see articles which say the

extinction was definitely caused by a giant meteorite impact at the Cretaceous/Tertiary boundary. Too much science is simplified down and sold to the public as fact, even though most research is usually about uncertainty and a range of possibilities. But hearteningly, since 2009, it seems the public now also know that not all large prehistoric reptiles were dinosaurs, and that only the ‘non-avian’ ones died out, since we are still surrounded by an important set of their descendants, birds. The problem with such a search is still the same as it was before. If you want a general account of the extinction, there are lots to choose from. But, what if you want to read something more specialised, like an academic paper by a vertebrate palaeontologist? You would have a long search through the haystack to find that particular needle. Contrast that with what happens when you type in ‘graptolite extinction’- only 83,600 results today as compared to a measly 18,000 in 2009. Oh dear, invertebrate palaeontology is not quite as exciting, it seems! However, you are led straight away to academic papers, which is fine if that is what you were after. But, what if you wanted a well explained popular account? What is a graptolite, by the way, and when did they become extinct? An obvious solution to

this problem is to use more specific search words, or to use Google Scholar if you want to see academic research papers. But my point is a more general one. Searching for someone called John Smith is not likely to be as successful as trying to find Perugia Gaukrodger. Happily, search engine bias is now itself the subject of research and discussion. The Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy’s online article, ‘Search engines and ethics’ gives a good general overview and points out that bias in the original design of a search algorithm (the exact nature of which is usually a closely guarded secret), the unknown effect of search engine optimisation by advertisers and the unknown effect of advertising revenues being paid to the search engine owner are all cause for concern. Most worrying, perhaps, is the unknown effect of information gathered by the search engine about individual users changing which search results are displayed. It seems that we will soon reach a stage (if we’re not there already) where different people entering the same search words will get different results, based on their previous search history and their presumed interests. This personalisation may be good for advertisers but is it good for school children researching an essay?

righton College Al Ain is thrilled to announce the appointment of Malak Ismail as Head Girl and Aditya Kanojia as Head Boy. The two Upper Sixth pupils were selected after a rigorous interview process and will represent the pupil body for the coming academic year. The Head Boy and Head Girl lead the prefect team and represent all of the College pupils at official events and occasions. Malak has been at BCAA for four years and is currently studying Art and Design, Physics and Mathematics. She was the highest performing pupil in the College in her GCSEs last year. Miss Ismail commented, “the role of head girl is not only the leading figure of the prefect team, but also the representative face of the girl’s school. It's very important for me to be a fair and approachable figure in this part, to make sure the ideas, concerns and opinions of the student body are expressed and actioned, to ensure we all play a part in the school community. Throughout the school and across all year groups, I would like to achieve a fun, relaxed and comfortable working environment and strengthen the school spirit. I would like to introduce more student led events, work

closer with teachers and pave the way for more ambitious ideas and effective changes to be made in the future. I want to leave Brighton College knowing that I inspired confidence and creativity in students and that I created something new and exciting for the school. Aditya Kanojia joined Brighton College, Al Ain just last summer, transferring from Al Ain English Speaking School, and is studying Computer Science, Mathematics and Psychology where he also achieved an impressive set of GCSE results. “The role of Head Boy is one of the most prestigious roles a student can attain and comes with its fair share of responsibilities in every school. There is a unique opportunity at Brighton College, Al Ain because the school is so young. I have authority on decisions regarding the Sixth Form, the prefect team and the Student Council all the way down to the middle school. These decisions could have a lasting impact on the school for many years to come and therefore I'm looking forward to focussing on this role with the utmost priority. I want to create a student body which believes they have a voice in how the school is run and where students come, not only to learn, but push themselves in every aspect of their

THE POWER OF A HUG

he average length of a hug between two people is 3 seconds. But researchers have discovered something fantastic. When a hug lasts 20 seconds, there is a therapeutic effect on the body and mind. The reason is that a sincere embrace produces a hormone called "oxytocin", also known as the love hormone. This substance has many benefits in our physical and mental health, helps us, among other things, to relax, to feel safe and calm our fears and anxiety. This wonderful tranquilizer is offered free of charge every time we have a person in our arms, cradle a child, cherish a dog or a cat, are dancing with our partner, or simply holding the Shoulders of a friend. A famous quote by psychotherapist Virginia Satir goes, “we need 4 hugs a day for survival. We need 8 hugs a day for maintenance. We need 12 hugs a day for growth.” Whether those exact numbers have been scientifically proven remains to be seen, but there is a great deal of scientific evidence related to the importance of hugs and physical contact. Here are some reasons why we should hug: 1. STIMULATES OXYTOCIN Oxytocin is a neurotransmitter that acts on the limbic system, the brain’s emotional centre, promoting feelings of contentment, reducing anxiety and stress, and even making mammals monogamous. It is the hormone responsible for us all being here today. You see this little gem is released during childbirth, making our mothers forget about all of the excruciating pain they endured expelling us from their bodies and making them want to still love and spend time with us. New research from the University of California suggests that it has a similarly civilising effect on human males, making them more affectionate and better at forming relationships and social bonding. And it dramatically increased the libido and sexual performance of test subjects. When we hug someone, oxytocin is released into our bodies by our pituitary gland, lowering both our heart rates and our cortisol levels. Cortisol is the hormone responsible for stress, high blood pressure, and heart disease. 2. CULTIVATES PATIENCE Connections are fostered when people take the time to appreciate and acknowledge one another. A hug is one of the easiest ways to show appreciation and acknowledgement of another person. The world is a busy, hustle-bustle place and we’re constantly rushing to the next task. By slowing down and taking a moment to offer sincere hugs throughout the day, we’re benefiting ourselves, others, and cultivating better patience within ourselves. 3. PREVENTS DISEASE Affection also has a direct response on the reduction of stress which prevents many diseases. The Touch Research Institute at the University of Miami School of Medicine says it has carried out more than 100 studies into touch and found evidence of significant effects, including faster growth in premature babies, reduced pain, decreased autoimmune disease symptoms, lowered glucose levels in children with diabetes, and improved immune systems in people with cancer.

4. STIMULATES THYMUS GLAND Hugs strengthen the immune system. The gentle pressure on the sternum and the emotional charge this creates activates the Solar Plexus Chakra. This stimulates the thymus gland, which regulates and balances the body’s production of white blood cells, which keep you healthy and disease free. 5. COMMUNICATION WITHOUT SAYING A WORD Almost 70 percent of communication is nonverbal. The interpretation of body language can be based on a single gesture and hugging is an excellent method of expressing yourself nonverbally to another human being or animal. Not only can they feel the love and care in your embrace, but they can actually be receptive enough to pay it forward to others based on your initiative alone. 6. SELF-ESTEEM Hugging boosts self-esteem, especially in children. The tactile sense is all-important in infants. A baby recognizes its parents initially by touch. From the time we’re born, our family’s touch shows us that we’re loved and special. The associations of selfworth and tactile sensations from our early years are still imbedded in our nervous system as adults. The cuddles we received from our Mom and Dad while growing up remain imprinted at a cellular level, and hugs remind us at a somatic level of that. Hugs, therefore, connect us to our ability to self love. 7. STIMULATES DOPAMINE Everything everyone does involves protecting and triggering dopamine flow. Low dopamine levels play a role in the neurodegenerative disease Parkinson’s as well as mood disorders such as depression. Dopamine is responsible for giving us that feel-good feeling, and it’s also responsible for motivation! Hugs stimulate brains to release dopamine, the pleasure hormone. Dopamine sensors are the areas that many stimulating drugs such as cocaine and methamphetamine target. The presence of certain kinds of dopamine receptors are also associated with sensation-seeking. 8. STIMULATES SEROTONIN Reaching out and hugging releases endorphins and serotonin into the blood vessels and the released endorphins and serotonin cause pleasure and negate pain and sadness and decrease the chances of getting heart problems, helps fight excess weight and prolongs life. Even the cuddling of pets has a soothing effect that reduces the stress levels. Hugging for an extended time lifts one’s serotonin levels, elevating mood and creating happiness. 9. PARASYMPATHETIC BALANCE Hugs balance out the nervous system. The skin contains a network of tiny, egg-shaped pressure centres called Pacinian corpuscles that can sense touch and which are in contact with the brain through the vagus nerve. The galvanic skin response of someone receiving and giving a hug shows a change in skin conductance. The effect in moisture and electricity in the skin suggests a more balanced state in the nervous system – parasympathetic. Embrace, embrace with your heart.~~

16 Summer Vacation Ideas for Your Kids What do your kids do on their summer vacation? Many kids go to camp, or visit relatives, or enroll in special classes designed for children. But no matter if your kids are heavily scheduled, or if their time is completely their own, summertime is a perfect time for kids to experience boredom, forcing them to be creative. It's a time to follow interests, discover new passions, and experiment. But even the most selfentertaining child sometimes runs out of ideas, so here are some items they can add to their summer checklist: 1. Explore outside. Being outside in nature is important for all children. Fresh air, exercise, and observation of the natural world are synonymous with childhood. See what your kids can discover about the area around your house, and about themselves. 2. Make a pet rock. When they are out exploring in nature, kids can choose a rock. Something not too large, and with a smooth enough surface to take paint or sticky items. When they bring it back, once washed and dried it can be decorated with paint, glitter, sticky foam, googly eyes, or whatever is needed to make the rock into a new pet. And here's the best part: It doesn't require food or cleaning up after. 3. Go stargazing. Summer is the perfect time to go stargazing. It isn't too cold at night, and a family snuggle on a blanket looking up at the night sky is an enjoyable way to learn together. Read up on a few constellations and planetary locations ahead of time, and your kids will think you're a genius. 4. Study the weather. Set up a little weather station and measure rainfall, wind direction, and temperature. Chart these over time to see how the weather changes 14

in your area. Compare notes with a cousin who lives in a different city. 5. Watch movies. Movies that your kids missed in the theater but are out on DVD still make for an exciting way to spend a lazy afternoon when it's too hot to play outside. Popcorn and lemonade make good accompaniments. 6. Catch up on geek classics. This is a fantastic opportunity to indoctrinate your kids in the all-important geeky movies, such as Star Wars, Star Trek, Princess Bride, Back to the Future, WarGames, Tron, and others. And for older kids, set them on Monty Python, The Matrix, Akira, and Highlander. 7. Read books. That says it all. 8. Visit the library. Most local libraries have summer reading programs, special craft project times, puppet shows, teen clubs, and other fun things organized specially for the summer. Check the schedule at a library near you. 9. Build with Lego. Kids can build freeform projects, or modern art pieces. If they run out of ideas, challenge them to build a spaceship, a plant, or a robot. See who can assemble the most realistic Dalek. But no instruction is really necessary here. We've all been building with Lego since we could hold up a 2x4 brick. Give them a tub of Lego and let them go. 10. Experiment with cooking. Even very young children can try their hand at cooking or baking. They can help to measure ingredients, stir, and arrange the final result. Older kids can cook on the stove, or use the oven. Contributing to the family meal is a very rewarding experience for kids of all ages. And the more they learn how to do, the more they can help out on a regular basis. 11. Become an expert on a period in

history. Regency England, Ancient Egypt, modern day Lapland... It is all within their reach. Have them choose books at the library, or search for interesting websites. Then have them teach you all about what they have learned. 12. Play in the dirt. Sure, it's messy, but there is research that says it is good for you. And there's something about digging and piling and making trenches that is just fun. Plus it's one of the five best toys of all time, so you can't go wrong there. 13. Make forts. No matter your age, making and playing in forts made out of pillows, blankets, and couch cushions is a load of fun. Bonus challenge: Make the fort large enough for grown-ups! 14. Rediscover old toys. If your kids are anything like mine, many of their toys get forgotten, or perpetually hidden behind other toys. Summertime affords plenty of time for kids to go through their rooms and rediscover some of the toys that haven't been played with for some time. Perhaps they've outgrown some of them, and can donate them or pass them on to others. 15. Play with science. Roll cars down an incline. Mix vinegar and baking soda. Examine ants on the sidewalk. Compare rocks. A lot of the usual childhood activities are just science. Have fun with it! 16. Play board games. Of course, this activity is good for any time of year. But if you have more than one child, or a child with nearby friends, encouraging them to play board games together always bears fruit. Kids often come up with their own set of house rules for old favorites, and often have more patience with each other for repeated rounds of the same game, over and over. And any time that parents have to join in, all the better.

So as with all exponential technologies, it was a disappointment for a long time, before it became way superior and got mainstream in only a few short years. It will now happen with Artificial Intelligence, health, autonomous and electric cars, education, 3D printing, agriculture and jobs. Welcome to the 4th Industrial Revolution. Welcome to the Exponential Age. Software will disrupt most traditional industries in the next 5-10 years. Uber is just a software tool, they don't own any cars, and are now the biggest taxi company in the world. Airbnb is now the biggest hotel company in the world, although they don't own any properties.

Artificial Intelligence: Computers become exponentially better in understanding the world. This year, a computer beat the best Go player in the world, 10 years earlier than expected. In the US, young lawyers already don't get jobs. Because of IBM Watson, you can get legal advice (so far, for more or less basic stuff) within seconds, with 90% accuracy compared with 70% accuracy when done by humans. By 2030, computers will become more intelligent than humans. Autonomous Cars: In 2018 the first selfdriving cars will appear for the public. Around 2020, the complete industry will start to be disrupted. You don't want to own a car anymore. You will call a car with your phone, it will show up at your location and drive you to your destination. You will not need to park it, you only pay for the driven distance and can be productive while driving. Our kids will never get a driver's license and will never own a car. It will change the cities, because we will

need 90-95% fewer cars for that. We can transform former parking space into parks. 1.2 million people die each year in car accidents worldwide. We now have one accident every 100,000 km, with autonomous driving that will drop to one accident in 10 million km. That will save a million lives each year. Most car companies may become bankrupt. Traditional car companies try the evolutionary approach and just build a better car, while tech companies (Tesla, Apple, Google) will do the revolutionary approach and build a computer on wheels. I spoke to a lot of engineers from Volkswagen and Audi; they are completely terrified of Tesla. Insurance Companies will have massive trouble because without accidents, the insurance will become 100x cheaper. Their car insurance business model will disappear. Real estate will change. Because if you can work while you commute, people will move further away to live in a more beautiful neighborhood. Electric cars wonâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t become mainstream until 2020. Cities will be less noisy because all cars will run on electric. Electricity will become incredibly cheap and clean: Solar production has been on an exponential curve for 30 years, but you can only now see the impact. Last year, more solar energy was installed worldwide than fossil. The price for solar will drop so much that all coal companies will be out of business by 2025. With cheap electricity comes cheap and abundant water. Desalination now only needs 2kWh per cubic meter. We don't have scarce water in most places, we only have scarce drinking water. Imagine what

Health: There will be companies that will build a medical device (called the "Tricorder" from Star Trek) that works with your phone, which takes your retina scan, your blood sample and you breathe into it. It will be cheap, so in a few years everyone on this planet will have access to world class medicine, nearly for free. 3D printing: The price of the cheapest 3D printer came down from $18,000 to $400 within 10 years. In the same time, it became 100 times faster. All major shoe companies started 3D printing shoes. Spare airplane parts are already 3D printed in remote airports. The space station now has a printer that eliminates the need for the large number of spare parts they used to have in the past. At the end of this year, new smart phones will have 3D scanning possibilities. You can then 3D scan your feet and print your perfect shoe at home. In China, they already 3D printed a complete 6-storey office building. By 2027, 10% of everything that's being produced will be 3D printed. Business Opportunities: If you think of a niche you want to go in, ask yourself: "in the future, do you think we will have that?" and if the answer is yes, how can you make that happen sooner? If it doesn't work with your phone, forget the idea. And any idea designed for success in the 20th century is doomed in to failure in the 21st century. Work: 70-80% of jobs will disappear in the next 20 years. There will be a lot of

new jobs, but it is not clear if there will be enough new jobs in such a small time. Agriculture: There will be a $100 agricultural robot in the future. Farmers in 3rd world countries can then become managers of their field instead of working all days on their fields. Agroponics will need much less water. The first Petri dish produced veal is now available and will be cheaper than cow-produced veal in 2018. Right now, 30% of all agricultural surfaces is used for cows. Imagine if we don't need that space anymore. There are several startups that will bring insect protein to the market shortly. It contains more protein than meat. It will be labeled as "alternative protein source" (because most people still reject the idea of eating insects). There is an app called "moodies" which can already tell in which mood you are. Until 2020 there will be apps that can tell by your facial expressions if you are lying. Imagine a political debate where it's being displayed when they are telling the truth and when not. Bitcoin will become mainstream this year and might even become the default reserve currency. Longevity: Right now, the average life span increases by 3 months per year. Four years ago, the life span used to be 79 years, now it's 80 years. The increase itself is increasing and by 2036, there will be more than one year increase per year. So we all might live for a long long time, probably way more than 100. Education: The cheapest smart phones are already at $10 in Africa and Asia. By 2020, 70% of all humans will own a smart phone. Green walls are a relatively new concept worldwide, with 93 per cent installed after 2007. Found mostly in urban environments, where the plants help reduce the overall temperature of the buildings, many of the best-known green walls are located in public places, such as airports and shopping malls. Heat build-up in cities is primarily caused by the absorption and subsequent emission of solar heat in asphalt roads and building materials. Plant surfaces can help offset this occurrence by reducing temperatures through a process called evapotranspiration. The effect can be felt more prominently in the immediate vicinity of a surface such as a green wall that can lower surrounding temperatures by up to five degrees Celsius. Developed by landscaping experts Gover Horticulture, the Dubai Wharf Green Wall is made using geotextile grow bags filled with peat substrates enriched with nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium (NPK). This allows for better root growth, irrigation and drainage in the UAE climate that can often get quite harsh during the long summers. How to Raise a Good Person-Instead of One Who is Just Afraid of Being Bad

We discipline our kids for a reason: we want them to be good. When a parent yells at their children or sends them to their room, it's not because they want their kids to suffer. We're not just hatefilled gargoyles who want to stamp out fun wherever we find it. We're trying to help our kids understand that their behavior affects other people. We want to make them better people. But there's a difference between raising a child who is afraid of getting in trouble and a child who understands the difference between right and wrong. When our kids grow up, we won't be around every minute of their lives. If we want them to make good decisions when we're not around, they have to be motivated by more than just fear of getting in trouble. Don't rely on fear For a lot of us, yelling is the only way we know how to do it, after all, it works. When you blow up on a child every time they don't do what you want, their behavior changes. Those kids will make a mental list of everything that makes you angry, and they'll make sure you don't catch them doing it. Something happens, though, in your kids' heads when you try to scare them into being good. They stop noticing the effect they are having on other people and, instead, focus on the consequences to themselves. Being good becomes something they do to avoid getting in trouble, instead of something they decide to do. They might be good when you're around, but it won't last. The second you turn your back, all that good behavior is going to stop. Let your kids choose Children aren't evil. Even babies are naturally capable of kindness. Studies have found that babies as young as 14 months old will 22

try to help people in need. There's a natural goodness in every person, right there from birth. We're social animals. We want to help each other out. One of the best ways to kill that natural goodness, though, is to make kids do it. Children are actually more likely to help someone if they do it of their own free will. Experiments with children suggest that, if you force a child to do something good for someone, they'll do the bare minimum, but if you let them decide whether they want to do it or not, they'll go beyond. What's more is that they'll keep doing it. Children who are forced to do charity work only do it when they're forced to, but children who decide to do it themselves will keep it up. It becomes a whole part of their being. In fact, the more parents give their kids rewards, the less likely the kids are to act generously. Teach your children to control their emotions Remember when I said that kids are naturally good? Remember when you rolled your eyes and said, “That's not my kid"? You weren't wrong—just because kids are capable of goodness doesn't mean they always do it. But there are reasons for that, and one of the big ones is emotion. Kids get mad. They have impulses. They have urges. When people get emotional, no matter how old they are, they start making different decisions. That's one of the biggest challenges of being human—controlling your emotions. We're filled with feelings that tell us to do things that are incredibly destructive, and we have to learn how to resist them. That's a big part of being good. Talk bout It If you want your children to be able to walk into a new situation and figure out the right

thing to do without your guidance, they need to be able to think things through—and that takes practice. That's why we need to talk about what's right and wrong. Bring up ethical scenarios, like, “If you saw someone getting bullied, what would you do?" and let your kids weigh in. Listen to their thoughts, share a few of your own, and help them practice the mental process of how to be good. It's something you can work into any part of the day. You can do it when you're reading stories or you can make a whole game out of it—but it's especially useful when your kids misbehave. When your kids do something bad, don't just get them in trouble – ask them, “What do you think you could do differently next time?" Turn that bad moment into an actual learning opportunity and they'll learn to be better people. Walk The Talk In the end, though, the most important thing is just to set a good example. Children copy their parents—it's just what they do. No matter how you raise them, they're going to end up an awful lot like you. If you tell your kids to do what you say and not what you do, your kids are going to see that there's a difference between the rules you set and how you lead your life, and that's going to teach them to do the same in their own life—they'll learn that they can set rules that they don't necessarily have to hold themselves to. On the other hand, when we practice what we preach, they not only copy us but they also get better at controlling their urges. When kids know they can trust their parents, it affects the way they see the world and it makes it a lot easier to grow up a decent person.

l Jimi Mall, Al Ain’s first and favourite shopping and entertainment destination, recently revealed the progress of its extension, which will add 45,000 sqm of gross leasable area (GLA) when it opens in Q4 2018. The extension is currently about 80% complete, and, once complete, will include the city’s first outside ‘Retail Park’ concept, 88 new stores and Al Ain’s first eight screen Vox Cinema. To ensure easy access, the extension will also include 1200 extra car parking spaces, doubling the capacity of the mall’s current parking lot. ARAWI CITY, Philippines – Plant sciences student Saadodin Riga was studying at the university in this Philippine city when militants launched their offensive a year ago. As gun battles raged in the streets, and militants seized public buildings, including the hospital, the quiet 19-year-old made his way across town, trying to locate his parents and eight siblings. As the fighting spread, his family abandoned their home, fleeing with just the clothes on their backs. They finally caught up with Saadodin later in the day in the outskirts of the city, now under a pall of smoke.

There he found his younger brother Saminodin, aged nine, who has seizures and is unable to walk. “I had to carry him on my back while we fled,” Saadodin says. “As we were fleeing, bombs started falling from the sky,” he recalls, the fear evident in his eyes. “We didn’t know what we needed to do during that time. We did not know how we were going to escape.” Determined to find safety, Saadodin’s family trudged on. Three days later they found refuge in an evacuation centre in Saguiaran, a few kilometers away. The Riga family are among at least 360,000 residents who fled the assault by militants which engulfed the city on 23 May,

of last year, turned into a battleground. It took Philippine's troops five months, fighting street by street, to regain control. That battle left the city in ruins, with homes, businesses, schools and places of worship alike blasted by artillery, pockmarked by bullets, or destroyed by fire. Unexploded bombs have made all but fleeting return impossible for over 42,000 displaced families. UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, was on the ground supporting the displaced as early as 27 May. It has provided them with aid including tarpaulins, solar lamps, and cooking pots, and supported the government issuing identity documents. Particularly vulnerable people, such as the elderly and people with disabilities, have also been provided with targeted assistance.

For nearly a year, Saadodin’s family have lived in a makeshift room at the evacuation center, separated from other families’ living quarters by planks of plywood. Plastic sheets from UNHCR protect them from the rain. Though he is grateful for the assistance his family receives, Saadodin says: “Our circumstances now are really different from our life back in Marawi,” where the Riga family ran a business selling aluminum and glass. From April 19 to 22, they were able to visit their house during a government-facilitated return. Located in one of the most damaged areas, they found their home in ruins. “I hope we can return to our home in Marawi, because we had livelihood there,” he says. Restarting the family’s glass and aluminum business while displaced has not been possible. “It’s been difficult to set up shop here, because a lot of us are already doing that.” For now, he is helping his mother to take care of Saminodin. The youngster has not had seizures recently, but Saadodin keeps a watchful eye over him.

Saadodin has stopped studying— temporarily, he hopes—while he helps his family get back on their feet. They ration the assistance they receive from the government, and make do with what little they have. It has been a tough year for the Riga family, but Saadodin remains positive. He thinks of his brother Saminodin and his smiles despite his condition, and Saadodin knows he must remain hopeful. “My priority for now is my family,” he says, “especially to care for Saminodin.”

INDIAN CHICKEN STEW INGREDIENTS: • 2 tbsp vegetable oil • 1 onion, chopped • 2 cloves garlic, minced • 500 g chicken breasts cut into cubes • Salt-to-taste • Black pepper-to-taste • 2 tsp garam masala • 1 tsp cayenne pepper • 1 tsp cumin • 1 tbsp cornstarch • 1 cup chicken broth • 3 tbsp tomato puree • 1 cup coconut milk • 2 tbsp parsley, chopped

DIRECTIONS 1. Heat oil in a saucepan over medium heat and sauté onions and garlic until golden brown. 2. Add chicken cubes and season with salt, black pepper, garam masala, cayenne pepper and cumin. Cook until tender. 3. Add cornstarch and stir to coat all the ingredients. Pour chicken broth and coconut milk and add tomato puree. Simmer over low heat for around 20 minutes. 4. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve.

Should I get a pure breed or mixed breed pet? There are varying opinions as to whether a pure breed or mixed breed pet is better. In some cases, some will argue that mixed breeds are inherently healthier, genetically stronger and at less risk of disease. On the other hand, breeders or owners of pure breeds will say the opposite. There are not enough studies to prove either or. It is more dependent on the environment in which these animals are produced and raised. In many cases pure breeds will be acquired by an owner when very young - 8 weeks old or so. This can provide a better opportunity for the animal to socialize with other animals and humans from a younger age. In the case of a mixed breed that may not have had the best start in life, being born on the street and rescued when slightly older, they can exhibit more behavioural problems such as fear, nervousness and aggression, but at the same time, there are so many young animals, barely a few days or weeks old when they're rescued that are very affectionate and loving. When it comes to overall health, pure breeds can suffer more from heredity health problems such as hip dysplasia in large breed dogs, skin problems, respiratory problems and heart problems in snub nosed (flat faced breeds), such as Persian cats, Pugs and Pekingese and many other conditions. The environment in which these animals have come from can often be the source of the problem due to over crowding and lack of proper health care. When it comes to mixed breeds that may have been picked up from the street, there can more frequently be cases of flu and other viral or bacterial infections, wounds and abscesses, due to fighting and lack of vaccinations. At the end of the day, there are many reasons we could say one is better than the other. There are good and bad in both. Some pure breeds are beautiful and come in different colours, shapes and sizes with distinct physical and personality traits. On the other hand, a lot of mixed breeds also come in beautiful colours, unique markings and are wonderfully social. Due to there being so many stray animals looking for loving homes, it is always better to consider adopting than buying from a shop or breeder. Lines And Stitches Thu, Mar 15, 2018 - Thu, Jun 14, 2018 Al Qattara Arts Centre, Al Ain An illustration is a distinctive drawing using various media that depicts a status, whether it was a statement in response to situations, an expressive mean to convey ideas, or a mere form of artistic creation. In the history of fashion, illustrations were used to reflect a designerâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s vision of what the new trend should look like. It was also a way to experiment the colour combination, choice of fabric and accessories visually before proceeding with the process of making the actual garments. Illustrators initially used the common forms from sketching, drawing and painting, moving to publishing fashion engravings that were more accessible to the public. These drawings were developed and refined to present the final design and set the trend. However, with the rise of fashion photography, illustrations became more of preliminary studies, and the final design was replaced with the photograph. As for fashion itself, it went through stages of progress that were slow at the beginning, but then the pace started accelerating during the 15th century. Fashion became a statement and a response to the then current social, political and economic changes. Through fashion trends depicted in paintings and photographs, historians were able to set the date and relate the artworks to a certain timeframe or period as well, turning the illustration into a document that records a moment in history. Fashion illustrations are now not only used to present a garment or create a style, but they have transformed to become a form of art. Illustrations, whether still on paper or digital, interpret the vision of the illustrators themselves, and they no longer merely translate the designersâ&#x20AC;&#x2122; concepts.

Many artists in the United Arab Emirates adopted this shift, and employed the illustration as a method that blurs categorisations of what should be defined as art and what should be cannoned under fashion. Artists here transformed their artistic creations into functional clothing designs that combine the traditional forms with the contemporary feel. The Lines and Stiches exhibition, organised by the Department of Culture and Tourism - Abu Dhabi, is a result of an open call that was sent out to artists, illustrators and designers alike. This exhibition aims to present the transitional phase from artist to designer and vice versa through the process of illustration. It is also a space to exhibit fashion illustrations as an integral form of art to the community, and another record of the fashion illustrator as the artist, and the illustration as the artwork.

‫‪1.1‬نضع زالل البيض مع رشة امللح يف الخفاقة ونخفقهم عىل رسعة خفيفة‪.‬‬ ‫‪2.2‬نحرض القطر بوضع السكر مع املاء حتى يغيل جيدا‪.‬‬ ‫‪3.3‬نسكب القطر عىل زالل البيض ونخفق مدة ‪ 25‬دقيقة حتى تتشكل لدينا كرمية المعة‪.‬‬ ‫‪4.4‬نخلط اللوز مع السكر البودرة وننخلهم‪.‬‬ ‫‪5.5‬نضع ألوان الطعام عىل الكرمية الالمعة ونحركها‪.‬‬ ‫‪6.6‬وثم نضيف خليط اللوز والسكر عىل مراحل ونحرك عىل رسعة خفيفة‪.‬‬ ‫‪7.7‬نسكب الخليط عىل ورق الزبدة بشكل دوائر ونرتكه يرتاح مدة ‪ 30‬دقيقة يف حرارة الغرفة‪.‬‬ ‫‪8.8‬يوضع بالفرن عىل درجة حرارة ‪ 150‬مدة ‪ 12‬دقيقة وثم نرتكه حتى يربد جيدا ً‪.‬‬ ‫‪9.9‬نضع الشوكوال مع الزبدة والكرمية عىل حامم بخار حتى يذوب ونرتكه يربد جيدا ً‪.‬‬ ‫‪1010‬ثم نحيش إحدى قطع املكارون بالشوكوال ونضع قطعة أخرى عليها وعندها يصبح جاهز للتقديم‪.‬‬

‫تعزيزًا للثروة السمكية بالدولة‬ ‫وزارة التغير المناخي والبيئة بالتعاون مع شركة "فش فارم"‬ ‫تبدأ إنزال الكهوف االصطناعية‬ ‫وأعرب مدير إدارة استدامة الرثوة السمكية عن تقديره وشكره لهيئة البيئة‬ ‫واملحميات الطبيعية بالشارقة وبلدية دبا الفجرية و"فيش فارم" عىل دورهم‬ ‫الفعال واملستمر لدعم الوزارة يف تنفيذ خططها االسرتاتيجية الهادفة إىل‬ ‫تنمية املوارد الطبيعية يف الدولة ومساهمتهام يف هذا الربنامج‪.‬‬ ‫كام أكدت األستاذة عواطف النقبي مسؤول فرع خورفكان يف هيئة البيئة‬ ‫واملحميات الطبيعية بالشارقة أن مبادرة وزارة التغري املناخي والبيئة بإنزال‬ ‫‪ 300‬كهف اصطناعي موزعة عىل ‪ 30‬موقع ممتدة من جزيرة البدية إىل‬ ‫ميناء اللؤلؤية تهدف إىل تعزيز مصائد األسامك يف املياه اإلقليمية عن طريق‬ ‫وضع الكهوف الصناعية واملصنوعة من مواد صديقة للبيئة يف مناطق‬ ‫تجمع األسامك بشكل مدروس ومحدد يعد بادرة مهمة تخدم قطاع الصيد‬ ‫املحيل عىل املدى الطويل وتساهم يف ضامن استدامته‪ ،‬مضيفة أن الهيئة‬ ‫تبذل جهودا يف تعزيز التنمية املستدامة من خالل تشجيعها عىل استخدام‬ ‫أحدث الحلول الصديقة للبيئة والتقنيات املتطورة التي من شأنها أن تؤدي‬ ‫إىل رفع مستويات الكفاءة والحفاظ عىل البيئة‪ ،‬باإلضافة إىل املساهمة يف‬ ‫دعم توجهات املؤسسات الحكومية االتحادية واملحلية والرامية إىل نرش‬ ‫ثقافة االستدامة وتعزيز االقتصاد األخرض‪.‬‬

‫صالح الرييس‬ ‫الربنامج ضمن مبادرات عام زايد ‪ 2018‬ويشمل إنزال ‪ 300‬كهف‬ ‫بدأت وزارة التغري املناخي والبيئة بالتعاون مع رشكة "فش فارم" إنزال‬ ‫‪ 300‬كهف اصطناعي موزعة عىل ‪ 30‬موقع متتد من جزيرة البدية‬ ‫بالفجرية إىل ميناء اللؤلؤية يف الشارقة بهدف تحقيق استدامة البيئة‬ ‫البحرية وتنمية الرثوات املائية الحية بدولة اإلمارات العربية املتحدة‪.‬‬ ‫وتم اختيار مواقع اإلنزال يف مناطق قريبة من سواحل الدولة بهدف‬ ‫انشاء مواقع صيد جديدة تدعم استمرار العمل يف مهنة الصيد من خالل‬ ‫تخفيف التكاليف التشغيلية لرحلة الصيد املرتتبة عىل الصيادين‪ ،‬وسوف‬ ‫تساهم هذه املناطق بتخفيف ارتياد الصيادين املناطق البعيدة عن‬ ‫سواحل الدولة التي تعرضهم ملخاطر مستمرة وتضمن استدامة االمداد‬ ‫الغذايئ املحيل‪.‬‬ ‫وقال صالح الرييس مدير إدارة استدامة الرثوة السمكية يف وزارة التغري‬ ‫املناخي والبيئة أن هذه املبادرة بالتعاون مع رشكة "فش فارم" تأيت‬ ‫ضمن اسرتاتيجية الوزارة يف تقوية الرشاكة مع القطاع الخاص‪ ،‬وتعزيز‬ ‫قيم املسؤولية املجتمعية لدى مؤسسات القطاع الخاص‪ ،‬بهدف دعم‬ ‫استدامة البيئة البحرية وتعزيز األبحاث والدراسات العملية يف مجال‬ ‫التنوع االحيايئ البحري‪ ،‬وبناء حاضنات لصغار األسامك يف البيئة البحرية‬ ‫الساحلية وتعزيز مخزون الرثوة السمكية‪.‬‬ ‫وأضاف الرييس أن الوزارة تبذل جهودا مستمرة بهدف تعزيز حرفة‬ ‫الصيد وتطوير استدامة الرثوة السمكية باعتبارها من أهم املصادر‬ ‫الطبيعية الحية املتوفرة يف مياه الدولة‪ ،‬إذ متثل هذه املبادرة خطوة‬ ‫إضافية يف زيادة نجاح برنامج "الكهوف االصطناعية" الذي أطلقته الوزارة‬ ‫يف عام ‪.2016‬‬

‫ومن جهتها قالت فاطمة الحنطويب‪ ،‬رئيس قسم حامية البيئة واملحميات‬ ‫الطبيعية ‪-‬بلدية دبا الفجرية‪ ،‬أن بلدية دبا الفجرية شاركت بالتعاون مع‬ ‫وزارة التغري املناخي والبيئة مبرشوع انزال الكهوف الصناعية الذي يهدف‬ ‫اىل تنمية البيئة البحرية يف الساحل الرشقي يف امارة الفجرية بغرض إعادة‬ ‫احياء املوائل البحرية وبناء بيئة اصطناعية مالمئة لتكاثر األسامك وزيادة‬ ‫مخزون الرثوة السمكية وتعزيز دخل الصيادين وتخفيف التكاليف املالية‬ ‫التي تقع عىل عاتق الصياد عند اجتيازه ملسافات طويلة لغرض البحث عن‬ ‫املصيد املناسب فكان هذا املرشوع بجهود متبادلة مع وزارة التغري املناخي‬ ‫جاءت بتحديد املواقع املناسبة عىل الساحل الرشقي واالرشاف عىل التنزيل‬ ‫لضامن عمل املرشوع عىل اكمل وجهه وعىل ان تتم املراقبة الدورية من‬ ‫قبل البلدية وتعريف مرتادي البحر بهذه املواقع التي تعترب نقاط مهمة‬ ‫ملامرسة حرفة الصيد كام ان هناك تتمه للمرشوع الذي جاء بإنزال ‪300‬‬ ‫كهف اصطناعية عىل طول الساحل الرشقي‪.‬‬ ‫يذكر أن برنامج "الكهوف االصطناعية" الذي بدأت وزارة التغري املناخي‬ ‫والبيئة بتنفيذه يف عام ‪ ،2016‬شمل إنشاء محمية بحرية اصطناعية مبنطقة‬ ‫رأس ضدنا بعدد (‪ )500‬كهف إسمنتي‪ ،‬وإنشاء عدد (‪ )5‬مواقع للصيد‬ ‫من كهوف إسمنتية اصطناعية باملنطقة املمتدة من جزيرة الطيور بدبا‬ ‫الفجرية إىل رأس ضدنا‪ ،‬وإنشاء عدد (‪ )5‬مواقع للصيد من كهوف إسمنتية‬ ‫اصطناعية بإنزال (‪ )150‬كهف إسمنتي بإمارة أم القيوين‪ ،‬وإنزال عدد‬ ‫(‪ )150‬كهف إسمنتي بإمارة عجامن يف موقع مساحته من (‪ )300‬مرت مربع‪.‬‬ ‫كام قامت الوزارة بإنزال ‪ 1000‬كهف اصطناعي من أصل ‪ 1300‬كهف يف‬ ‫مناطق مختلفة مبياه الصيد بالدولة وجاري العمل عىل استكامل إنزال‬ ‫باقي الكهوف باملناطق املخطط حتى نهاية عام ‪ ،2018‬وذلك ضمن برنامج‬ ‫الكهوف ومبادرات عام الخري ‪ 2017‬املخطط له مع رشكة دملا للتجهيزات‬ ‫الصناعية والخدمات البحرية‪ ،‬وإضافة إىل جهود التعاون مع الوزارة‬ ‫قامت هيئة حامية البيئة والتنمية بإمارة رأس الخيمة بإنزال (‪ )600‬كهف‬ ‫اصطناعي يف منطقة محمية باإلمارة‪ .‬باإلضافة إىل مبادرة "محميات زايد‬ ‫الخري" والتي تهدف إىل إنزال ‪ 200‬كهف صناعي خالل العام هذا العام‬ ‫ضمن مبادرات "عام زايد"‪.‬‬

‫ما بين ‪ 1971‬و‪ 2004‬استفادت منها ‪ 117‬دولة‬ ‫‪ 90.5‬مليار درهم مساعدات أمر بها الشيخ زايد رحمه اهلل‬ ‫تحتفل دولة اإلمارات بذكرى يوم زايد للعمل اإلنساين التي تصادف التاسع عرش من‬ ‫رمضان من كل عام‪ ،‬وقالت وزارة الخارجية والتعاون الدويل يف تقرير لها عن «إنجازات‬ ‫الدبلوماسية اإلماراتية يف مجال املساعدات اإلنسانية» مبناسبة يوم زايد للعمل اإلنساين‪،‬‬ ‫إن يف هذا اليوم‪ ،‬يوم زايد للعمل اإلنساين‪ ،‬تالحم أبناء اإلمارات حول قيادتهم الرشيدة‬ ‫الستذكار مآثر الشيخ زايد‪ ،‬والتعبري عن مشاعر الوفاء ملسريته الفريدة وغري املسبوقة يف‬ ‫العطاء والبذل‪ ،‬وإبراز دور دولة اإلمارات الرائد يف مشاريع الوقف الخريي اإلنساين لكل‬ ‫األعراق واألديان‪.‬‬ ‫ومع قيام دولة اإلمارات‪ ،‬اتسع نطاق العمل الخريي للمغفور له الشيخ زايد ليشمل‬ ‫جميع أنحاء العامل‪ ،‬وبلغت قيمة املساعدات التنموية واإلنسانية التي أمر بتوجيهها منذ‬ ‫عام ‪ 1971‬حتى ‪ 2004‬واستفادت منها ‪ 117‬دولة نحو ‪ 90.5‬مليار درهم وفقاً لتقرير‬ ‫صادر عن وزارة التنمية والتعاون الدويل آنذاك‪.‬‬ ‫ولعل من البديهي القول‪ ،‬إن املساعدات اإلنسانية التي تقدمها دولة اإلمارات ال ترتبط‬ ‫بالتوجهات السياسية للدول املستفيدة منها وال بالبقعة الجغرافية أو العرق أو اللون أو‬ ‫الطائفة أو الديانة‪ ،‬بل تراعي‪ ،‬يف املقام األول‪ ،‬الجانب اإلنساين‪ ،‬الذي يتمثل يف احتياجات‬ ‫الشعوب‪.‬‬ ‫ومع مرور الوقت‪ ،‬أصبح العمل اإلنساين يف اإلمارات العربية املتحدة أسلوب حياة‪ ،‬وميثل‬ ‫قيمة إنسانية نبيلة وسلوكاً حضارياً تؤمن به القيادة والشعب وتتناقله األجيال جيالً بعد‬ ‫جيل‪ ،‬مثلها األعىل يف ذلك القائد املؤسس لدولة اإلمارات‪ ،‬وباين نهضتها املغفور له الشيخ‬ ‫زايد بن سلطان آل نهيان‪ ،‬طيب الله ثراه‪ ،‬فارس العطاء والعمل اإلنساين الذي حث عىل‬ ‫البذل والعطاء‪ ،‬ولعب دورا ً مهامً وإيجابياً يف تطوير املجتمعات وتنميتها‪.‬‬ ‫واستمرت دولة اإلمارات يف سريها عىل نهج الخري والعطاء بقيادة صاحب السمو الشيخ‬ ‫خليفة بن زايد آل نهيان‪ ،‬رئيس الدولة‪ ،‬حفظه الله‪ ،‬وصاحب السمو الشيخ محمد بن‬ ‫راشد آل مكتوم‪ ،‬نائب رئيس الدولة رئيس مجلس الوزراء حاكم ديب‪ ،‬رعاه الله‪ ،‬وصاحب‬ ‫السمو الشيخ محمد بن زايد آل نهيان‪ ،‬ويل عهد أبوظبي نائب القائد األعىل للقوات‬ ‫املسلحة‪.‬‬ ‫وبهذا الصدد‪ ،‬تحرضنا مقولة لصاحب السمو الشيخ خليفة بن زايد آل نهيان‪ ،‬رئيس‬ ‫الدولة‪ ،‬حفظه الله‪« :‬نحن نسري عىل خطى الوالد الشيخ زايد بن سلطان آل نهيان‪ ،‬يف‬ ‫تقديم املساعدات اإلنسانية والتنموية‪ ،‬والتي أصبحت ركناً رئيساً من أركان السياسة‬ ‫الخارجية لدولة اإلمارات‪ ..‬وستواصل دولة اإلمارات العربية املتحدة اتباع نهجها الثقايف‬ ‫يف التعامل مع دول العامل‪ ،‬والدعوة إلحقاق الحق والعدل للمضطهدين‪ ،‬وبناء جسور‬ ‫املحبة والتعاون والتالقي بني شعوب العامل املختلفة‪ ،‬ليعم السالم واالزدهار البرشية‬ ‫جمعاء»‪.‬‬ ‫إرث من اإلنجازات‬ ‫وترجمة لهذه الرؤية والقيم التي غرسها املغفور له الشيخ زايد بن سلطان آل نهيان‪،‬‬ ‫طيب الله ثراه‪ ،‬فقد متكنت دولة اإلمارات تحت قيادة صاحب السمو الشيخ خليفة بن‬ ‫زايد آل نهيان‪ ،‬رئيس الدولة‪ ،‬حفظه الله‪ ،‬من تحقيق العديد من اإلنجازات عىل هذا‬ ‫الصعيد‪ ،‬حيث احتلت دولة اإلمارات املركز األول عاملياً كأكرب جهة مانحة للمساعدات‬ ‫الخارجية يف العامل للعام ‪ ،2017‬وذلك وفقاً للبيانات األولية التي أعلنتها مؤخرا ً لجنة‬ ‫املساعدات اإلمنائية التابعة ملنظمة التعاون االقتصادي والتنمية‏‏‪OECD‬‏‏‪.‬‬ ‫وخالل عام ‪ ،2017‬بلغت القيمة اإلجاملية ملدفوعات املساعدات اإلمنائية الرسمية‬ ‫املقدمة من دولة اإلمارات ‪ 19.32‬مليار درهم «‪ 5.26‬مليار دوالر» مبعدل منو ‪% 18.1‬‬ ‫مقارنة بعام ‪ ،2016‬ومتيزت املساعدات بأن أكرث من نصف قيمتها متت يف شكل منح ال‬ ‫ترد «بنسبة ‪ ،»% 54‬وذلك دعامً للخطط التنموية التي تنفذها الدول املستفيدة‪.‬‬ ‫كام متيزت املساعدات اإلمنائية الرسمية اإلماراتية بأن أكرث من ‪ % 94‬منها متت عىل شكل‬ ‫مساعدات تنموية بقيمة ‪ 18.3‬مليار درهم يف عام ‪ ،2017‬تم توجيه ‪ % 68‬من قيمتها‬ ‫ملصلحة قطاع دعم الربامج العامة بقيمة ‪ 12.38‬مليار درهم ملساعدة حكومات الدول‬ ‫عىل الوفاء بنفقاتها العامة والحفاظ عىل موازين مدفوعاتها‪ ،‬إىل جانب تعزيز استقرارها‬ ‫النقدي واملايل ومناخ االستثامر فيها‪ ،‬وتوفري فائض يتم توجيهه لخدمة أهداف تنموية‬ ‫أخرى بخططها التنموية‪ ،‬خاصة بدول مثل اليمن واألردن واملغرب والسودان والسلطة‬ ‫‪22‬‬

‫الفلسطينيةورصبيا‪.‬‬ ‫من جهة أخرى‪ ،‬أسهمت املساعدات اإلماراتية يف سد الفجوات الكبرية يف متويل مشاريع‬ ‫البنية التحتية يف العديد من الدول النامية‪ ،‬من خالل الربامج املوجهة للتنمية الحرضية‬ ‫والبنية التحتية للنقل وقطاعات الصحة والتعليم والطاقة املتجددة‪ ،‬وعىل الرغم من‬ ‫زيادة مخصصات املساعدات اإلنسانية اإلقليمية‪ ،‬فإن دولة اإلمارات ما زالت تواصل‬ ‫تقديم الدعم ملختلف القضايا اإلنسانية العاملية‪ ،‬ومواكبة األحداث واألزمات‪ ،‬وتخصص‬ ‫املصادر التمويلية الالزمة لدعمها‪.‬‬ ‫املساعدات اإلنسانية اإلماراتية لليمن منوذجاً‬ ‫قدمت دولة اإلمارات خالل الفرتة من أبريل ‪ 2015‬إىل أبريل ‪ 2018‬مساعدات لليمن‬ ‫بلغت نحو ‪ 13.82‬مليار درهم «‪ »3.76‬مليار دوالر أمرييك‪ ،‬واستهدفت مساعدة ما يزيد‬ ‫عىل ‪ 13.8‬مليون ميني‪ ،‬منهم ‪ 5.3‬مليون طفل‪ ،‬ويأيت تقديم هذه املساعدات الخارجية‬ ‫املكثفة يف إطار االستجابة اإلنسانية والتنموية لدولة اإلمارات تجاه األزمة الراهنة إلغاثة‬ ‫اليمن ومساعدته يف محنته ودعم استقراره والحفاظ عىل وحدة أراضيه‪ ..‬وتوزعت فئات‬ ‫املساعدات الخارجية ما بني تنموية وإنسانية وخريية‪.‬‬ ‫وتم تقديم ما يزيد عىل ربع تلك املبالغ كمساعدات إنسانية يف جميع أنحاء اليمن‪..‬‬ ‫كام دعمت دولة اإلمارات االحتياجات طويلة األجل لليمن‪ ،‬وذلك من خالل متويل‬ ‫مختلف القطاعات مثل دعم الربامج العامة‪ ،‬وتوليد الطاقة وإمدادها‪ ،‬والنقل والتخزين‪،‬‬ ‫والحكومة واملجتمع املدين «التطوير القضايئ والقانوين»‪ ،‬والصحة‪ ،‬والتعليم‪ ،‬والبناء‬ ‫والتنمية املدنية‪ ،‬والخدمات االجتامعية‪ ،‬واملياه والصحة العامة‪ .‬وامتدت املساعدات‬ ‫اإلماراتية لتصل إىل ‪ 12‬محافظة مينية عرب إعادة تأهيل البنية التحتية األساسية كاملطارات‬ ‫يف عدن والريان وسقطرى‪ ،‬فضالً عن املوانئ البحرية يف عدن واملكال وسقطرى واملخا‪،‬‬ ‫ومبنى اإلذاعة واملحكمة وكارس األمواج يف املكال‪ ،‬واستكامل حديقة الشعب يف الربيقة‬ ‫مبحافظة عدن‪ ..‬وقامت أيضاً بتنفيذ مشاريع إلعادة بناء وتأهيل ‪ 218‬مدرسة‪ ،‬وتوفري‬ ‫أكرث من ‪ 232‬ألف طن من املساعدات الغذائية مبتوسط ‪ 10‬آالف شخص مستفيد من‬ ‫املساعدات الغذائية يومياً‪ ،‬وإعادة بناء وصيانة ‪ 46‬مستشفى ‏‏‏‪ /‬مركزا ً صحياً‪ ،‬وتقديم‬ ‫أكرث من ‪ 300‬طن من اإلمدادات الطبية‪ ،‬وإعادة بناء وصيانة ‪ 12‬محطة كهرباء وتوفري‬ ‫‪ 635‬ميجاواط‪ ،‬وإعادة تأهيل وصيانة ‪ 9‬محطات وشبكات مياه تحتوي عىل ‪80‬‬ ‫مضخة‪ ،‬باإلضافة إىل ‪ 4‬محطات معالجة مياه الرصف الصحي‪ ،‬وبناء ‪ 250‬سدا ً للسقيا‪،‬‬ ‫وتوفري تطعيامت شلل األطفال والحصبة لـ ‪ 488‬ألف طفل‪ ،‬وتسلم ‪ 74‬سيارة إسعاف‪،‬‬ ‫وأكرث من ‪ 500‬آلية رشطة لدعم املؤسسات األمنية‪ ،‬وإعادة تأهيل ‪ 19‬مركزا ً للرشطة‪.‬‬ ‫وهدفت املساعدات إىل دعم خطة األمم املتحدة لالستجابة اإلنسانية لليمن للعام ‪2018‬‬ ‫‪/‬‏‏‏‪/YHRP‬‏‏‏ وقد تعهدت دولة اإلمارات مببلغ ‪ 500‬مليون دوالر أمرييك لالستجابة لخطة‬ ‫األمم املتحدة للعام ‪ 2018‬يف اليمن‪ ،‬وتم رصف مبلغ ‪ 465‬مليون دوالر أمرييك أي بنسبة‬ ‫‪ % 93‬من قيمة هذا التعهد‪ .‬كام تعهدت دولة اإلمارات العربية املتحدة مببلغ قدره‬ ‫‪ 543‬مليون دوالر أمرييك ملصلحة املنظامت متعددة األطراف العاملة يف اليمن‪ ..‬ويشمل‬ ‫الدعم املقدم من اإلمارات لعدد من املنظامت الدولية‪ ،‬وهي مكتب األمم املتحدة‬ ‫لتنسيق الشؤون اإلنسانية «أوتشا» مببلغ ‪ 500‬مليون دوالر أمرييك‪ ،‬ومنظمة الصحة‬ ‫العاملية «‪ 23.7‬مليون دوالر أمرييك»‪ ،‬واللجنة الدولية للصليب األحمر «‪ 10‬ماليني دوالر‬ ‫أمرييك»‪ ،‬وبرنامج األغذية العاملي لألمم املتحدة «‪ 6‬ماليني دوالر أمرييك»‪ ،‬ودعم منظمة‬ ‫األمم املتحدة للطفولة «يونيسيف» مبليوين دوالر أمرييك‪.‬‬ ‫ثقافة الخري والعطاء اإلنساين‬ ‫وصلت املساعدات الخارجية اإلماراتية إىل ‪ 188‬دولة حول العامل عرب مبادرات عاملية‬ ‫فعالة‪ ،‬ورشاكات دولية‪ ،‬ومساعدات إنسانية‪.‬‬ ‫ويبقى يوم زايد للعمل اإلنساين‪ ،‬رمزا ً وتجسيدا ً لقيم العطاء واإلنسانية التي غرسها يف‬ ‫عقول ووجدان الشعب اإلمارايت‪ ،‬أيقونة اإلنسانية املغفور له الشيخ زايد بن سلطان آل‬ ‫نهيان‪ ،‬طيب الله ثراه‪ ،‬حتى أصبحت دولة اإلمارات منارة لتقديم العون واملساعدة لكل‬ ‫من يحتاجه دون النظر إىل العرق أو الجنس أو الدين‪ ،‬ومنوذجاً فريدا ً يف عاملنا من حيث‬ ‫تحقيق السعادة واالستقرار والتسامح واملحبة بني الشعوب‪.‬‬ ‫وام‬

‫كأس العالم لكرة القدم ‪2018‬‬ ‫تستضيف روسيا يف الفرتة ما بني ‪ 14‬يونيو ولغاية ‪15‬‬ ‫يوليو كأس العامل لكرة القدم ‪ 2018‬وهي البطولة الحادية‬ ‫والعرشون من بطوالت كأس العامل لكرة القدم املقامة‬ ‫تحت رعاية االتحاد الدويل لكرة القدم‪ ،‬حيث فازت روسيا‬ ‫برشف استضافة البطولة بعد قرار االتحاد الدويل لكرة‬ ‫القدم فيفا يوم ‪ 2‬ديسمرب ‪، 2010‬حيث استطاعت روسيا‬ ‫التغلب عىل ‪ 3‬ترشيحات‪ ،‬فتغلبت عىل ترشيح مشرتك بني‬ ‫إسبانيا والربتغال‪ ،‬وتغلبت كذلك عىل ترشيح مشرتك أيضاً‬ ‫بني هولندا وبلجيكا‪ ،‬وترشيح وحيد إلنجلرتا‪ .‬وهي النسخة‬ ‫األوىل من بطوالت كأس العامل لكرة القدم التي ستقام يف‬ ‫أوروبا الرشقية‪ ،‬واملرة األوىل التي ستستضيف بها القارة‬ ‫األوروبية منافسات البطولة بعد بطولة كأس العامل لكرة‬ ‫القدم ‪ 2006‬والتي أقيمت يف أملانيا‪.‬‬ ‫ومن املالحظ أن املدن املستضيفة ملنافسات البطولة هي‬ ‫مدن روسيا األوروبية‪ ،‬والتي تقع يف الجانب الغريب من‬ ‫روسيا‪ ،‬وتحديدا ً يف غرب جبال األورال؛ باستثناء مدينة‬ ‫يكاترينبورغ والتي تبعد حوايل ‪ 1420‬كم عن العاصمة‬ ‫موسكو‪ ،‬من أجل تسهيل عملية انتقال الجامهري بني‬ ‫املدن قدر اإلمكان‪ .‬وستجرى مباريات كأس العامل ‪2018‬‬ ‫يف ‪ 11‬مدينة روسية‪ .‬وستحتضن العاصمة موسكو مباراة‬ ‫االفتتاح واملباراة النهائية كذلك؛ حيث ستلعب املبارتني عىل‬ ‫ملعب لوجنييك الذي يتسع لحضور ‪ 81,000‬ألف متفرج‬ ‫بعد التجديد‪ ،‬باإلضافة إلحدى مبارايت دور نصف النهايئ‪.‬‬ ‫عىل أن تقام املباراة الثانية يف ملعب كريستوفسيك الواقع‬ ‫مبدينة سان بطرسربغ‪ ،‬والذي يتسع لحضور ‪ 68,134‬ألف‬ ‫متفرج‪.‬‬ ‫ومن الجدير بالذكر أن الفائز بالبطولة سيتأهل مبارشة إىل‬ ‫منافسات كأس القارات ‪.2021‬‬ ‫وقد أعلن االتحاد الدويل لكرة القدم يف ‪ 29‬أكتوبر ‪ 2007‬أنه‬

‫ألغى قاعدة مداورة االستضافة بني القارات التي تم تطبيقها‬ ‫من بعد بطولة ‪ .2006‬القاعدة الجديدة أنه يحق ألي دولة‬ ‫تقديم طلب االستضافة رشط أال يكون االتحاد القاري الذي‬ ‫تنتمي إليه سبق له تنظيم إحدى البطولتني السابقتني‪.‬‬ ‫نظام البطولة‬ ‫بطولة كأس العامل ‪ 2018‬تضم ‪ 32‬منتخباً من قارات العامل‬ ‫الست‪ .‬تتنافس هذه املنتخبات ملدة شهر كامل يف أرض‬ ‫الدولة املضيفة لنيل رشف الفوز بلقب البطولة‪ .‬املرحلة‬ ‫األوىل من املنافسات تبدأ بدور املجموعات‪ .‬ويتكون دور‬ ‫املجموعات من ‪ 8‬مجموعات‪ ،‬حيث ستلعب كل أربعة‬ ‫منتخبات يف مجموعة واحدة‪ ،‬يتأهل بطلها ووصيفه إىل‬ ‫الدور املقبل‪.‬ويتم تقسيم املنتخبات املشاركة عىل أربعة‬ ‫مستويات باالعتامد عىل تصنيف الفيفا العاملي للمنتخبات‬ ‫وطبقا ملعايري رياضية وجغرافية‪ .‬ومنذ عام ‪ 1998‬تم إقرار‬ ‫بعض القواعد يف تقسيم املنتخبات‪ ،‬ومنها ما نص عىل عدم‬ ‫وقوع أكرث من فريقني أوروبيني يف مجموعة واحدة‪ ،‬كام‬ ‫تنص عىل عدم وقوع أكرث من فريق واحد من كل اتحاد‬ ‫قاري آخر يف مجموعة واحدة‪ ،‬لتجنيب منتخبات القارة‬ ‫الواحدة من املواجهة املبكرة يف مجموعة واحدة‪ .‬وبسبب‬ ‫عدم تساوي املنتخبات يف األوعية األربعة‪.‬‬ ‫التحكيم‬ ‫تقنية خط املرمى‪ :‬سمح االتحاد الدويل لكرة‬ ‫ •‬ ‫القدم باستخدام تقنية خط املرمى بدءا ً من بطولة كأس‬ ‫العامل لكرة القدم ‪ 2014‬يف الربازيل بعد نجاحها يف ‪ 3‬بطوالت‬ ‫سابقة‪ ،‬ما يسهل عىل الحكم األسايس والحكام األربعة‬ ‫املساعدين يف اتخاذ القرارات دون خوف من الحاق الظلم‬ ‫بأي طرف كام حدث يف بطوالت سابقة‪.‬‬ ‫الرذاذ املتاليش‪ :‬بعد نجاح تجربة استخدامه يف‬ ‫ •‬

‫وكان موظّفو ’كونتيننتال‘ ورشكة ’اإلماراتية لإلطارات العاملية‘‬ ‫قد قاموا بالكشف عىل ‪ 204‬مركبات تعود لألهايل يف مدرسة‬ ‫’جيمس مودرن أكادميي‘ بديب حيث تم فحص ضغط الهواء‪،‬‬ ‫مقياس عمق اإلطارات‪ ،‬التلف والثقوب‪ .‬وبينام متتّعت ‪70‬‬ ‫باملئة من املركبات مبستوى ضغط صحيح يف إطاراتها‪ ،‬فإن‬ ‫أكرث من ‪ 25‬باملئة من عمليات الفحص كشفت عن إطارات‬ ‫بضغط هواء أقل من املطلوب – وهو أحد العوامل الرئيسية‬ ‫التي تؤدّي إىل التلف غري العادي لسطح اإلطار (تم اكتشاف‬ ‫رضر جانب اإلطار (تم اكتشاف هذا يف‬ ‫هذا يف ‪ 31‬مركبة) وت ّ‬ ‫‪ 14‬مركبة مركونة)‪.‬‬ ‫من جهتها‪ ،‬قالت نرجس خامباتا‪ ،‬مديرة مدرسة ’جيمس‬ ‫مودرن أكادميي‘ يف ديب‪ ،‬حول مبادرة سالمة اإلطارات‪" :‬إن‬ ‫سالمة طالّبنا أولوية دامئة بالنسبة لنا‪ ،‬وهكذا برامج ت ُع ّد‬ ‫أساسية كونها تع ّزز معلومات األهايل حول أهمية السالمة‬ ‫عىل الطرق‪".‬‬ ‫ال تزال سالمة الطرق مسألة رئيسية يف اإلمارات العربية‬ ‫املتحدة‪ ،‬حيث أشارت تقارير حديثة من وزارة الداخلية‬ ‫ومجلس املرور االتحادي إىل وفاة ‪ 525‬شخصاً يف حوادث‬ ‫طرق يف الدولة خالل العام ‪. 2017‬‬ ‫من جهته‪ ،‬علّق ثوماس إيدملان‪ ،‬املدير التنفيذي ملوقع‬ ‫ُعتب سالمة اإلطارات مسألة‬ ‫‪ ،RoadSafetyUAE‬قائالً‪" :‬ت َ‬ ‫ها ّمة هنا يف دولة اإلمارات العربية املتحدة‪ ،‬وخصوصاً عند‬ ‫األخذ باالعتبار الظروف املناخية القاسية‪ .‬فنحن نرى بقايا‬ ‫اإلطارات عىل الطرقات املحلّية كل يوم تقريباً وهذا يجب‬ ‫مؤشا ً تحذيرياً‪ .‬وتكتسب سالمة الطرق أهمية أكرث‬ ‫أن يكون ّ‬ ‫عندما يتعلّق األمر بنقل األوالد – إذ علينا التأكّد من نقل‬ ‫أوالدنا بأكرث طريقة آمنة قدر اإلمكان‪ .‬وبالتايل يجب عىل‬ ‫األهل الحريصني عىل أوالدهم إجراء فحص منتظم لحالة‬ ‫املركبة وباألخص اإلطارات قبل القيادة‪ .‬ونحن نر ّحب بهذه‬ ‫املبادرة الرائدة من ’كونتيننتال‘‪ ،‬رشيكنا يف مجال املسؤولية‬ ‫املؤسسية االجتامعية‪".‬‬ ‫ّ‬

‫واستهدفت دراسة ’كونتيننتال‘ التي قامت بها رشكة ‪ YouGov‬ع ّينة من ‪ 500‬شخص من األهايل يف اإلمارات‬ ‫متخصص بالكشف‬ ‫العربية املتحدة الذين أجابوا عن متى كانت آخر م ّرة قاموا فيها شخصياً أو عرب شخص‬ ‫ّ‬ ‫الدقيق عىل إطارات مركباتهم‪ .‬ومن بني هؤالء‪ ،‬أشار ‪ 47‬باملئة إىل قيامهم بهذا يف الشهر الفائت‪ ،‬بينام أشار ‪23‬‬ ‫باملئة إىل قيامهم بهذا خالل األشهر الستة األخرية و‪ 5‬باملئة خالل األشهر الـ‪ 12‬األخرية‪ .‬أما نسبة عالية وصلت‬ ‫إىل ‪ 25‬باملئة بالتحديد فلم ميكنها تذكّر امل ّرة األخرية التي أجرت فحصاً عىل إطارات مركباتها‪.‬‬ ‫كرشكة رائدة يف مجال التط ّورات التقنية بقطاع السيارات وسالمة الطرق‪ ،‬تلتزم ’كونتيننتال‘ بتعزيز مستويات‬ ‫السالمة عىل الطرقات – حيث تهدف مبادرة الرشكة تحت عنوان ’الرؤية صفر‘ إىل التخلّص كلّياً من مشكلة‬ ‫حوادث الطرق والوصول إىل مستوى صفر وفيات‪ ،‬صفر إصابات وصفر حوادث عىل الطرقات‪ .‬وقد ف ّوضت‬ ‫’كونتيننتال‘ إجراء هذه الدراسات كجزء من تو ّجهها الساعي إىل تحقيق ’الرؤية صفر‘ عرب تعزيز معرفة ووعي‬ ‫السائقني وتحسني سلوكهم أثناء القيادة‪.‬‬

‫هال حدثتنا عن نفسك قليالً‪ ،‬وعن مسريتك العملية كمتخصص يف إعادة‬ ‫التأهيل والرعاية الطبية؟‬ ‫أمتمت تدريبي االستشاري يف طب إعادة التأهيل لدى الكلية امللكية‬ ‫الربيطانية لألطباء يف لندن‪ ،‬إىل جانب تخصيص يف إدارة إصابات النخاع‬ ‫عملت استشارياً يف’ مركز االمرية امللكية لإلصابات النخاع‬ ‫الشويك‪ .‬وقد‬ ‫ُ‬ ‫الشويك وإعادة التأهيل العصبي ‘يف شيفلد باململكة املتحدة‪ .‬ومبا أنني‬ ‫أمضيت مرحلة كبرية من طفولتي يف اإلمارات العربية املتحدة‪ ،‬فقد قررت‬ ‫االنتقال إىل الدولة يك أشارك خربايت ومعرفتي مع املجتمع املحيل الذي‬ ‫انضممت أوالً إىل‬ ‫منحني الكثري من الفرص عندما كنت صغريا ً‪ .‬حيث‬ ‫ُ‬ ‫’املستشفى األمرييك يف ديب‘‪ ،‬ألؤسس قسم إعادة التأهيل التابع له‪ ،‬ومن‬ ‫ثم انضممت إىل ’مركز كامربيدج للرعاية الطبية وإعادة التأهيل‘ طامحاً إىل‬ ‫مواصلة تقدمي املهني يف مجال تخصيص كمعالج إعادة تأهيل‪ ،‬مركّزا ً عىل‬ ‫إصابات النخاع الشويك وإعادة التأهيل العصبي ما بعد السكتات الدماغية‬ ‫وإصابات الدماغ الرضية‪ ،‬وغريها من الحاالت‪ .‬كام أويل اهتامماً خاصاً‬ ‫إلدارة حاالت الشلل الدماغي‪ ،‬مثل العالج بالبوتولينوم والعالج بالباكلوفني‬ ‫داخل القراب النخاعي‪ ،‬علامً بأين لدي خربة واسعة وخلفيتي كجراح يشاد‬ ‫بها متنحني منظورا ً أوسع نطاقاً عند التعامل مع اإلدارة الطبية ملشاكل‬ ‫العضالت والعظام‪.‬‬ ‫ملاذا انضممت إىل مركز كامربيدج للرعاية الطبية وإعادة التأهيل؟‬ ‫كام ذكرت سابقا"‪ ،‬فقد كنت أعمل لدى ’املستشفى األمرييك يف ديب‘‪،‬‬ ‫والذي يعترب من نخبة املستشفيات التي تقدم الرعاية الصحية الثالثية‬ ‫والتخصصية‪ ،‬غري أن آفاقي املهنية كمعالج يف إعادة تأهيل كانت محدودة‪،‬‬ ‫وكنت أرغب بتعلم املزيد يف بيئة أكرث غنى بالتحديات والفرص‪ ،‬مع‬ ‫الرتكيز بشكل رئييس عىل إعادة التأهيل والرعاية ما بعد الجراحة‪ .‬لذا‬ ‫قررتُ االنضامم إىل ’مركز كامربيدج‘ الذي يتيح مجاالت أكرب للتعامل مع‬ ‫طيف واسع من الحاالت‪ ،‬جنباً إىل جنب مع فريق عمل احرتايف متعدد‬

‫زيادة عدد سكان الدولة ‪ 16‬مرة من عام ‪ 1975‬إلى عام ‪2016‬‬ ‫أصدرت جامعة اإلمارات ممثلة يف مركز الجامعة للسياسة‬ ‫العامة والقيادة بالتعاون مع برنامج األمم املتحدة اإلمنايئ‬ ‫تقرير التنمية البرشية لدولة اإلمارات العربية املتحدة ‪.2018‬‬ ‫ورصد التقرير زيادة عدد السكان حوايل ‪ 16‬مرة منذ عام‬ ‫‪ 1975‬إىل عام ‪ ،2016‬كام رصد ارتفاع األداء يف مجاالت‬ ‫التعليم والصحة والدخل‪ ،‬وكذلك التطور يف مجال متكني‬ ‫املرأة وتضييق الفجوة بني الجنسني‪.‬‬ ‫وأشار التقرير إىل التقدم امللحوظ لكل من إماريت أبوظبي‬ ‫وديب يف أبعاد دليل التنمية البرشية مقارنة باإلمارات األخرى‬ ‫موضحاً أن اإلمارات تأيت يف مصاف الدول املرتفعة جدا‪.‬‬ ‫وأكد الدكتور محمد البييل ‪ -‬مدير جامعة اإلمارات ‪ -‬أن‬ ‫التقرير الذي خرج إىل النور يف عام زايد هو إبراز للدور‬ ‫الذي قام به املؤسس يف وضع أسس نهضة دولة اإلمارات‬ ‫يف مختلف املجاالت الحيوية‪ ،‬وتعزيز للسياسة التنموية‬ ‫الوطنية ودعم ريادتها يف مؤرشات التنمية بالدولة‪ ،‬كام‬ ‫يسهم التقرير يف خدمة رؤية دولة اإلمارات ‪ 2021‬وحكومة‬ ‫أبوظبي ‪ ،2030‬برتكيزه عىل عدة قضايا رئيسية مثل االقتصاد‬ ‫والتعليم والصحة وسوق العمل والسياسات االجتامعية‪.‬‬ ‫وأشار الدكتور عتيق جكة املنصوري ‪ -‬مدير مركز جامعة‬ ‫اإلمارات للسياسة العامة والقيادة إىل أن التقرير يعكس‬ ‫التعاون الوثيق بني مركز جامعة اإلمارات للسياسة العامة‬ ‫والقيادة وبرنامج األمم املتحدة اإلمنايئ‪ ،‬وتعزيز الرشاكة بني‬ ‫‪8‬‬

‫ال يُعد يوم التاسع عرش من رمضان يوماً عادياً كباقي األيام يف دولة اإلمارات‪ ،‬بل‬ ‫هو يوم استثنايئ تُحي فيه الدولة ذكرى رحيل مؤسسها وباين نهضتها املغفور‬ ‫له بإذن الله تعاىل الشيخ زايد بن سلطان آل نهيان‪ ،‬وهو اليوم الذي حمل اسم‬ ‫يوم زايد للعمل االنساين‪ ،‬وذلك تخليدا ً لذكرى رحيل الشيخ زايد بن سلطان‬ ‫آل نهيان‪ ،‬وعرفاناً بدوره يف تأسيس مسرية الخري والعطاء اإلنساين يف دولة‬ ‫اإلمارات والعامل‪.‬‬ ‫الشيخ زايد الذي ارتبط اسمه بالخري والعطاء والشهامة والحكمة‪ ،‬ذلك الرجل‬ ‫الفذ ذو الرؤية الثاقبة التي أسست دولة اإلمارات‪ ،‬ونهضت بها يف مختلف‬ ‫ميادين التنمية البرشية واالقتصادية واالجتامعية والثقافية والعمرانية‪ ،‬خالل‬ ‫الخية يف دولة اإلمارات فحسب‪ ،‬بل‬ ‫فرتة زمنية قياسية‪ ،‬والذي مل تنحرس أعامله ّ‬ ‫امتدت لتشمل جميع بقاع العامل‪ ،‬فكانت دولة اإلمارات ومازالت عىل الدوام‬ ‫السباقة يف ارسال املساعدات واالغاثات واملعونات االنسانية‪.‬‬ ‫وبالطبع ال تقترص أعامل الخري التي قام بها املغفور له الشيخ زايد عىل‬ ‫املساعدات اإلغاثية فحسب‪ ،‬بل قام رحمه الله ببناء املساجد واملستشفيات واملدارس واملراكز واملساكن يف العديد من الدول‬ ‫عىل امتداد خريطة العامل‪ ،‬فقد كان ه ّمه اإلنسان وسعادته يف املقام األول‪ ،‬فقال يف ذلك‪ ":‬إن التعاون بني البرش يؤدي اىل‬ ‫الرتاحم الذي حثّ عليه الخالق سبحانه وتعاىل فاإلنسان يجب أن يكون رحيام عىل أخيه االنسان"‪.‬‬ ‫و اليوم و تخليدا ً لذكراه أقيمت العديد من الفعاليات واملبادرات واألنشطة الخريية املحلية و العاملية‪ ،‬التي شاركت بها جميع‬ ‫الجهات عىل مستوى الدولة‪ ،‬واالحتفاء بيوم زايد للعمل اإلنساين له ميزة أكرب هذا العام‪ ،‬حيث يأيت ضمن عام زايد‪ ،‬هذا‬ ‫الحدث الوطني والتاريخي املهم يف دولة اإلمارات‪ ،‬حيث تؤكد إمارات الخري عىل مواصلة املسرية اإلنسانية التي أسسها املغفور‬ ‫له الشيخ زايد بن سلطان آل نهيان‪ ،‬وامليض قدماً يف نرش قيم الخري والرتاحم والعطاء عىل امتداد العامل‪ ،‬وتوفري الرفاهية والحياة‬ ‫الكرمية لشعبها وكل املقيمني عىل أرضها‪.‬‬ ‫رحم الله الشيخ زايد الخري‪ ،‬أيقونة اإلنسانية وصانع االتحاد ورجل السالم وحكيم العرب‪.‬‬ ‫ديانا جودية‬
