Community Newsletter Summer 2022
Summer is here!
We hope that everyone is enjoying the Hotlanta weather and enjoying all three (3) beautiful pools. With schools now closed and vacations beginning, It’s nice to finally get outside and have some summer fun. As everyone knows, the new pool is now open for enjoyment! It was very impressive seeing the sense of community and the excitement at the Grand Opening Event of the new White Oak Pool. There will be more fun events to come in the future. I must say… the Social Committee had a great time too! Dancing and even joining in on the games! There was plenty of food, drink and good times to be had by all!
CONGRATULATIONS TO THE GRADUATES CLASS OF 2022 | YOU DID IT! To all graduates in our community, and/or your family or friends that graduated this year, we congratulate you all and wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors!

Summer 2022
The Heart of the Problem: Why a Blue Ribbon is Not Always First Place As we conclude Men’s Health Month, our thoughts typically include the blue ribbons that bring awareness to prostate cancer. Blue ribbons honor those currently battling and those who have survived prostate cancer. Since cancer is the #2, cause of death for all men, recognizing blue ribbons is important. However, as a cardiologist, we know that the causes of death in men vary depending on age and that the #1 cause of death in men (and women) is heart disease. According to the most recent national vital statistics report from 2018, by the Center for Disease Control (CDC), heart disease and stroke account for 28.4% of deaths in men followed by cancer at 22.5%. Not surprisingly, in the “machoman” age range of less than 45, the #1 cause of death is accidents. Just as accidents are preventable, so too are early deaths from heart disease. The major risk factors for developing heart disease include male gender, age, family history, smoking, elevated cholesterol, high blood pressure, physical inactivity, being overweight or obese, and diabetes mellitus. We are born with the first three of these risk factors and they cannot be changed. Importantly, the remaining risk factors are modifiable with lifestyle changes. Simply put, stop smoking, eat a low-fat low-cholesterol diet, get daily exercise, achieve your ideal body weight, and stay on your medicines. These lifestyle changes can reduce your risk of heart disease.
Allison Dupont, MD
So while we honor the blue ribbons let us not forget that the #1 cause of death in men is heart disease and stroke and let’s all vow to do something about it!

from the manager
A Message from the Manager What a busy year this has been so far. Getting all three (3) pools ready for the summer, cleaning and repairing pool houses, pavilions, gazebos, playgrounds and parking lots. We also have a newly built Little Library at the large playground for all to enjoy! This will surely withstand the harsh elements Georgia has in store for us. Be sure to enjoy it and care for it with the love that was shown in the building of this Little Library. Matt Wallace from DIA Home Improvements and Renovations has really done an excellent job on all of these projects. The little hand prints on the Library are his granddaughters. How sweet is that!
We love our community! If you have any creative ideas for our community, we would love to hear from you!
If you happen to see Mr. Wallace when he is in the neighborhood, feel free to say hello! Mr. Wallace has also done some work for owner’s here in the community.
Safety in our Community As we would all like to keep Mundy Mill safe. There are a few things that you can do as a part of the community. Street Light Outages If you see a street light out, it is a simple fix. Jackson EMC has a hotline to report street light outages. Simply get the number off of the pole that is out and call (770) 536-2415. They will take the information and then dispatch someone to come and fix the light.
We would also like to give a shout out to Akins Lawn Care, our new landscapers. John Akins is the owner. They had quite a mess on their hands from the previous landscapersCall andtoday have now for gotten a free everything under control and are keeping everything looking great!
on-site estimate!
If you see an issue around the community, let us know and John will be more than happy to come out and correct it. Also, if you have any questions regarding your own landscaping, Expires 3/31/19 John will be more than happy to talk to you. John can be reached at (678) 943-3322.

MUNDY MILL VOLUNTEERS NEEDED PITCH IN AND PICK UP LITTER Keep Mundy Mill looking beautiful Enjoy making a difference, getting exercise, getting to know people better, and having cleaner surroundings. Let’s do this together. Two (2) owners of the community have begun a group to walk together and gather discarded trash from passing vehicles, specifically on Millside Parkway. They want to do their part for this community and were hoping other owners/residents would like to do their part as well in keeping the community looking beautiful.
Dog Is Literally The Cutest Home Depot Employee Ever By Lily Feinn
“She finds who needs her and gives them that smile”
even a picture of her in the break room.
When Heaven first went to live with Jackie Rakers, she was scared of everything.
“She walks around minding her own business and then suddenly insists on meeting someone, ” Rakers said. “She just sits and stares. They always end up saying how they needed that pick-me-up. It’s like she has a sense of who needs to be shown they are loved that day — and one of her favorite places to do that is Home Depot!”
And while she may not be an official employee, when she’s at her favorite store, she offers excellent customer service.
The scruffy rescue puppy from Kentucky River Regional Animal Shelter had had a rough start to life and was nervous around strangers and loud noises.
Heaven loves running errands with her mom, and everywhere they go, she finds someone having a rough day who needs her smile.
Luckily, her mom found the perfect place to help her come out of her shell — Home Depot.
“She was scared of everything, but with a lot of training and patience, she learned to trust, and now it’s like she pays it forward,” Rakers said. “She finds who needs her and gives them that smile and a cuddle.”
“The Home Depot runs started as a way to help her with her fears,” Rakers told The Dodo. “She was nervous about new places and new sounds, so we’d go for five minutes and she’d get all the treats. Then we started going longer and longer and exposing her to more and more things within the store. ” The large, dog-friendly store was perfect place for Heaven to socialize, and the pup was such a good girl on her visits that she earned her own tiny employee apron. Now, Heaven knows when the apron comes out, she’s about to go to her favorite place. “I keep it in the car so we are always ready,” Rakers said. “As soon as she can tell we enter the parking lot, she just quivers until I put [the apron] on her and then takes off towards “work.” “She walks around like she owns the place,” Rakers added.
The only downside of all their Home Depot runs is that every time they visit, Rakers comes up with a new home improvement project. But all the retail therapy is worth it when she sees how happy Heaven is and how far she’s come. “She’s the perfect example of what happens when you meet someone where they are at and love unconditionally,” Rakers said. “She went from so scared and so sad to the happiest dog.”
