Promoting a Healthier Workforce With spring in the air and some warm weather in the near future, now is time to plan for some exciting outdoor fitness and fun. Chamber staff and volunteers are hard at work coordinating great events. Healthcare, wellness and fitness – all top priorities of the Greater Hall Chamber. To develop the VISION 2030 health and wellness initiative, the Chamber formed the Healthcare Committee in 2007. The committee includes representatives from Northeast Georgia Health System, physician groups and other health-related organizations and Chamber businesses. The Healthcare Committee oversees community-wide programs and events while meeting monthly to discuss access to healthcare, wellness programs, education, healthcare services, legislative issues, health insurance and other important health and wellness topics. Dixie Truelove
Implementing and expanding employer wellness programs offers the opportunity to improve the health of our workforce and can help control healthcare spending. HealthSmart is a community-wide expo event held in October and offers free health screenings while exhibitors promote health, wellness and medical services. The 5K Chamber Chase, now in its seventh year, joins this successful Chamber-sponsored wellness program. These initiatives build on existing employer wellness programs while promoting and encouraging opportunities for others to create healthier workplaces. The Chamber Chase 5K & 2 Mile Wellness Walk is Thursday, March 27 at Riverside Military and is open to individuals and business/corporate teams and participants of all ages. Tent rentals are available and are a great way to promote your company or provide a gathering place for your team. The event includes food, music, exercise, friendly competition and great awards including Team Spirit, Fastest CEO, Fastest Team and individual awards in several age groups. Truelove Dairy, Inc. Chair, Greater Hall Chamber
Also in the realm of fitness, though on a lighter note, is the 35th Annual Hackers Holiday Golf Tournament on Friday, April 25. Held at Legacy on Lanier Golf Club at Lake Lanier Islands Resort, this event is for scratch golfers as well as hackers. The 19th Hole Reception will feature food, beverage and fun with awards, drawings and gifts after the tournament.

NEW Chamber Small Business Alliance A Partnership of the Georgia Chamber and Greater Hall Chamber The Georgia Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Hall Chamber are partnering to create the Small Business Alliance. The new program focuses on businesses with 10 or less employees and provides a grassroots initiative to increase the collective voice and awareness of the small business community at the Georgia Capitol. As a free Chamber membership benefit to small businesses, the Alliance will provide weekly and quarterly updates from the Georgia Chamber. Greater Hall Chamber small business members will be provided updates on related legislation that affects small businesses in our state. In addition to newsletters, updates and Legislative Call to Action emails, Alliance members will receive discounted entry to Georgia Chamber of
Commerce events and have the opportunity to participate in surveys to gauge opinion on public policies. "We are pleased to offer this new program to our small business members," said William Bagwell, Vice Chair of Government Affairs for the Greater Hall Chamber. "Initiating the Small Business Alliance fits right into the Chamber's mission to serve as the voice for business – especially with 85% of the Chamber membership base comprised of small businesses." To register your small business (10 or less employees) in the Small Business Alliance, contact Josh Stephens, Project Manager, Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce, 770-532-6206 x 110.
