Covenants Corner “Hmmmm......I’ve got a project for my home. Hey, I think I’ll get some trees removed at the same time. I wonder what the HPCA Guidelines say I can do about my projects and tree removals!” There’s a way to find out….. look it up! The Guidelines are located on the HPCA Website. You can locate them by looking for “Documents” on the dashboard. Click “Documents” and look for “Current Guidelines”. Many thanks for your continued respect for the Guidelines that keep our Community in the same (or better) manner that drew us to Harbour Point when we decided to take up residence in our lovely Community. Let’s keep improving our property values by maintaining our properties and adhering to the Covenants, By-Laws and Guidelines.

Spices and Onions and Beers, oh my!
More than 70 Harbour Point residents gathered on a cool November evening to compete the in cut throat world of chili and cornbread creation. Food and spirits were consumed, much fun was had and many medals were won. The People’s Choice Apron, no doubt a highly coveted covering for centuries to come, went to long-time Harbour Point resident, Ted Dittman, for his fabulous creation. Be sure to check out the video highlights on the HP Facebook page. Many thanks go to the event’s creator, Tom Schulte, and the super volunteers who helped make this new event a huge success!

The Venue at Friendship Springs
Ken Rast Painting Late last month, a large gathering of friends and family met at the Rast’s home on Lake Ridge Court to mark Ken Rast’s 80th birthday. The festivities also featured the unveiling of a large painting Ken had done for the space over their fireplace mantel. He named it The Arch and Gate of the Angels (Angel Gate), and described it as seeking to portray, on the outside. this world, where “moth and rust doth corrupt,” versus the other side where there is bounty, beauty, and bliss. This is the first painting he has done in 57 years, and, he says, it will be 57 years before he does another. - Ann Rast December 2019

Harbour Point Wednesday Morning
Men’s Bible Study
On November 6 at our regular 7:00am meeting the Men’s Bible study welcomed back “Monsignor” Joseph Forry. Joe had been a regular at our meetings until he and Rosie moved to Lanier Village about four years ago. Joe talked to us on the topic “How Much Did You Love?”…which will be a question we are asked when we are at the “pearly gate”. During the meeting we presented Joe with a Certificate of Appreciation which read: Presented to “Monsignor” Joseph Forry For: Outstanding service, guidance, discipleship and mentoring to the men of the Harbour Point Wednesday Morning Men’s Bible Study. Your constant display of what it means to be a “Christ Follower”. Sharing your knowledge of the Bible and your musical talents. We welcome all men to come and join us for fellowship and study. We have just completed two group studies by Dr. Tony Evans---Kingdom Man and Victory in Spiritual Warfare. We meet every Wednesday from 7-8:00am in the Captains Hall of the clubhouse.
BLACKHAWKS’
Alex DeBrincat GETS 3-YEAR, $19.2M DEAL
Alex DeBrincat, grandson of Harbour Point’s own Susan and Ray DeBrincat, now has a paycheck to match his big game! In early October the Chicago Blackhawks announced that they have signed the 21-year-old to a three-year extension with an annual average value of $6.4 million. DeBrincat is in the final year of his entry-level contract with an AAV of $894,166. DeBrincat is coming off a season in which he scored 41 goals and added 35 assists. He became the first Blackhawks player to score 40 or more goals at age 21 or younger since Jeremy Roenick in 1990-91. Congratulations to Alex, Susan and Ray on an amazing start to an exciting NHL career! Harbour Point is cheering for you!

CHRISTOPHER CHURCHILL
Memorial Tournament $5,120 DONATED FOR KIDNEY CANCER RESEARCH
On October 14, 2019, HPYC residents along with Churchill family members participated in a benefit tournament to honor the memory of Christopher, and to raise money for Research to Develop Early Testing and Diagnostic Methods for Kidney Cancer. The Christopher Churchill Foundation, a Georgia nonprofit 501(c)(3), is partners with Emory University, where Researchers are working to develop a Blood Test, targeting certain markers, allowing Doctors to diagnose this disease in the early stages, increasing survival rates. The Foundation donates one hundred percent of all contributions to this cause. Please visit the Foundation’s website for more information: www.christopherchurchillfoundation.org Although unable to play in the tournament, several HPYC residents joined the fight against kidney cancer by making generous donations to the Foundation. This card tournament along with the Churchill Golf tournament are annual fundraising events. Please join us, if you can. Laura Hartert was the 2019 tournament winner. Laura’s name will be inscribed on a plaque which will be on permanent display in the clubhouse and future winner’s names will be added each year. Also pictured with Laura, from left to right,

are Tom Meyer, Stew Brandt, Grey Lloyd, and Bob Kelly. All four of them tied for second place honors! Christopher John Churchill was born on April 21, 1985 and passed away from complications arising from his battle with Stage IV Renal Cell Carcinoma on March 16, 2016. Chris filled his thirty years making friends everywhere he went, earning an incredible amount of achievements, honors, accolades and admiration, and a role model and inspiration for many, throughout his short life. Chris was a trial lawyer for the Department of Justice and served as a member of the DOJ’s Constitutional Torts section. Chris was proud and honored to have been a judicial law clerk for the Honorable William C. O’Kelley, senior federal district judge in the Northern District of Georgia. In addition, Chris previously worked as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Georgia Attorney General’s Office, as an associate at King & Spalding LLP, in Atlanta, Georgia, and as an assistant district attorney in Hall County, Georgia, under the Third-Year Practice Act. The next charity tournament will be in April, 2020 and will benefit the Military Officers Association of America’s (MOAA) “For the Warriors” campaign which assists wounded veterans.
