FROM THE MANAGER

Greetings Traditions!

It has been another eventful year at the Traditions of Braselton and we are already gearing up for an action packed 2020; we will have the calendar of events for the year published in next month’s newsletter so please be sure to check that out and mark your calendars so that you won’t miss out any of the fun and excitement. I would like to thank all of our committee members and residents who have offered their service to the Community this year, your efforts really do make a difference! I may have said this in the past but don’t mind saying again how proud I am to be part of this Community I really feel that with every passing year Traditions gets better and better. We hope that you and your families have a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays, may you be truly thankful for your blessings! Please take a moment to review the following updates. CLUBHOUSE RESERVATIONS Going forward we are asking that residents use the online reservation system to reserve the clubhouse: http://www.traditionsofbraselton.org/view/clubhouse-1.aspx which can also be found under the amenities tab/clubhouse reservations. Here you will be able to check availability, review and agree to rules and procedures and pay your reservation fee. Please note that the fee for the clubhouse rental will increase to $200 effective January 1, 2020. Please see the Clubhouse Usage and Fees article on the next page for more details. CONFERENCE ROOM This year we purchased a conference table for the room off of the pool entrance gate in order to have a nice meeting space for committees. There is seating for 12 people. We would like to also make this space available as an added benefit for owners that may have need for a meeting space. If you would like to reserve the conference room at the clubhouse, please contact the management office at: 706-654-9121. ONSITE MAINTENANCE We are excited to announce that we will have a full-time onsite maintenance person starting on January 6, 2020. Chance Reynolds from CMA who you have probably seen around the property has accepted the position and will be a great asset to the Community. We have several projects lined up for him and he will be instrumental in helping us to be more efficient with our lot maintenance program which will now be done in house. We will have a second seasonal employee during the growing season and expect that lots will be cut more frequently than in the past. This change

Traditions’ Sunset provided by Jeff Ratka of Waters Edge Group

Giving Christmas Dear Traditions Neighbors, As we have done in the past several years, we are once again going to be collecting gifts for Jackson County children who would otherwise not have a Christmas. This is such a blessed community and so, we are asking each home to make a contribution of one or more items to fill our boxes during the next 5-6 weeks. Whatever you can afford to give will be greatly appreciated. Gifts are to be unwrapped, for ages 5 thru 18, toys, games, puzzles, superheroes, transformers, video game and movie characters, art supplies (coloring books, crayons, markers, drawing tablets, water colors, brushes, etc.) nail polish sets, jewelry, watches, Legos, cars, trucks and things that go, hats, scarves, gloves, sweatshirts, socks, wallets, purses (fill one with nail polish, emery boards, makeup and socks or earrings), makeup sets, gift cards, (in envelopes, please) for the oldest kids are great since they are harder to buy for and more expensive.*Gift cards must have the receipt showing activation with them* There will be a box at the HOA office and one at the Golf Grille to accept your generosity. December 11th is the deadline to get your gifts turned in. Jeff Grant from iServe, working with Jackson County and Toys for Tots will be arranging the distribution. Thank you so much in advance for your giving spirit and for making Christmas a joyous day for a less fortunate child.

COMMUNITY NEWS

TOGETHER WE ARE Home

Togetherness is really what the holidays are all about. Whether you are at your home or traveling to a loved one’s, Family is the glue that keeps us all together. But the pressure to be perfect is growing year by year. With Pinterest, HGTV and your favorite friends, family and frenemies tweeting about how “perfect” their lives are, the stress we feel to live up to that can become extreme. However, just like the posed family pictures we used to take at Olan Mills where everyone is dressed and acting their best, this level of perfection just can’t be achieved on a daily basis. Despite what we see on tv and social media, the Holidays aren’t supposed to be about “perfection.” Its about family, friends and love. With all that is on our holiday to do list, keeping decorations simple will help you get the most enjoyment out of this time of year. Here are a few ideas on how to simplify your Christmas routine. Pare down the amount of decorations you put out. Not every surface needs to be covered, a few well-placed decorations allows your items to shine. Greenery is your friend: If in doubt, grab some garland. And don’t feel like garland is only allowed on your mantel. You can wrap it around a centerpiece, drape over and around a chandelier, or string like streamers across your ceiling. Wreaths: A wreath of made of mixed greenery looks luxurious in its simplicity. Placing a wreath over a mirror or on your dining room table with an assortment of candles or Christmas balls inside can bring a lot of drama with little effort. Choose a Theme: If you have a collection of something, like Santa or Snow Men, think about using only those items in your decorations. For many years, when my twins were young, we decorated for Christmas with Teddy Bears. Dressed in red and green, they were bright, colorful and totally unbreakable. We put them on the tree, mixed them in with the garland on the mantel and just generally had them all over the house. It also simplified our decorating. If it wasn’t a bear or supported a bear, we just didn’t put it out. Repeat, Repeat, Repeat: Multiples of the same item can create a simple, but dramatic scene with less decision making stress. But the most important thing to remember is to just enjoy yourself!

SOCIAL COMMITTEE NEWS

Well, 2019 has been a very busy year at Traditions of Braselton. I hope everyone has had a wonderful time at all of the events we had this year. We are working on our 2020 event schedule and we hope you will enjoy what we have coming up next year. You know everyone is always thanking me for all of the events that we have…but, I want to say that I could not do what I do without the help of these ladies on the Social Committee…Annette McDonald, Ashley Cooper, Blake Milner, Caroline Pergantis, Danielle Conner, Deb Stone, Heather Bennett, Karis White, Kelli Eureka, and Kelly Hannifan. Without this team of ladies I could not do what we do! I am truly blessed to have all of them on our team! Love them all! Sheila Anderson, Social Committee Chair

All of us on the Social Committee want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year! A NOTE FROM THE SOCIAL COMMITTEE: I still hear stories of people that do not hear about our events here in the neighborhood! If you have new neighbors, introduce yourselves, and make sure they are signed up to receive emails, are on the Traditions Community Facebook page, the Homeowners private Facebook page, and that they are getting the newsletter! If everyone is on these 4 avenues there is no way of not knowing what is going on in the neighborhood!!! Also, Traditions has grown so much our events are RSVP! The only way we can plan is to have everyone RSVP even for free events (remember if you rsvp for free events…we plan on you being there). We purchase according to the rsvp…so if you don’t show up, it is money wasted). There also will be events that are for residents only so watch the details on each event!

There are so many people to thank for this great effort from the sponsors, bands, donations for the auction the dinner set up, the golf tournament, and people that donated their time...we are truly blessed! I think Jeff was happy with our donation! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for everyone's efforts! It takes a village and we have one awesome village here at Traditions! 2nd Annual Traditions Holiday Parade of Lights SIGN UP NOW TO PARTICIPATE!

By now you have already read (in the Traditions newsletter and/or on Facebook) about our 2nd annual Holiday Parade of Lights. On Saturday, December 14th (rain or shine), you are invited to join your neighbors in driving golf carts through the golf course to enjoy the holiday lights and decorations visible from the golf path. Then return to the Golf Club for refreshments, music, and a chance to visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus. WHO: All Traditions of Braselton residents are invited. Drive your own golf cart with headlights or use one of the carts provided by the Traditions Golf Club. If you have a personal golf cart that will accommodate extras, invite your neighbors to ride along with you since there is a limited supply of Golf Club carts. And feel free to decorate your personal golf cart! The Traditions golf carts will accommodate 2 full-size adults so if there are more people in your party, you will need to reserve additional golf carts. All golf cart operators must be licensed drivers so please bring your driver’s license with you to the parade. You will be asked to sign a liability waiver before being allowed on the cart path. WHERE: Golf carts will leave from the Golf Club (tee box #1) and return to the clubhouse at the end of hole #18. At the golf grill, we will provide complimentary hot coffee, hot chocolate, apple cider, water, s’mores, and other refreshments. Adult beverages will be available for purchase from the grill. You may not bring your own coolers of beverages. WHEN: We’ll begin gathering at the Golf Club around 5:30pm on December 14th. You will sign up online for a 30-minute time slot (so we can plan the number of golf club carts needed) and groups of approximately 10-15 carts will depart at 10-minute intervals with the first group departing at around 6:00pm. You should plan to arrive at the Golf Club at least 15 minutes prior to your selected time slot. When you arrive at the Golf Club, you will check-in at the registration table, show the drivers licenses of any person(s) who will be operating a golf cart, and sign the liability waiver. At that time, you will be given a number and approximate departure time for your group (within the 30-minute time slot you selected). It will take about 35-45 minutes to drive the entire cart path. Upon your return to the Golf Club, please enjoy Christmas carols, fellowship and refreshments. You will also have a chance to give Santa your wish list and try to convince him that you belong on the “nice” list. The last group will start the parade at around 8:00pm. COST to participate: This event is free to Traditions

owners and residents. In keeping with the spirit of the season, you are invited to bring new hats, scarves, gloves or coats (for children or adults) to donate when you come to the clubhouse. These items will be distributed to needy families in our community through iServe Ministries. WHAT you need to do right now: *If your house is visible from the golf cart path, please consider adding lights and/or other decorations for the enjoyment of all your neighbors. *Sign up to participate using the link. https://www. signupgenius.com/go/30E0948ACAC2CA3F94-tour LAST DAY TO SIGN UP IS SUNDAY, DECEMBER 8 AT MIDNIGHT. Please make sure to RSVP your intent to participate so we can plan for food and golf carts. Those who do not sign up will be accommodated on a spaceavailable basis. *Get ready to enjoy the holidays and be among your neighbors who are celebrating our new holiday tradition in Traditions! This event is being co-sponsored by the Traditions of Braselton Golf Club, the Hospitality Committee, CMA and the Christmas Committee. Carol Higbie - Hospitality Committee Chair

NEWS FROM THE EMPTY NESTERS

Savories & Sweets

EMPTY NESTER EVENT On Friday, November 8, 2019, the Empty Nester’s came together to enjoy some time with friends and Savories and Sweets food. We decided to have a quieter night to allow us to spend more time with our friends and neighbors.

enjoyed talking and getting to know our newest neighbors.

Our festivities began with an ice breaker game. We handed out names of songs to some and the singer/group name to others. The object was to find your match by going around and talking to people than you might not have otherwise. While we started off slow, some got smart and attached their song to their nametag so others could find them easier. It eventually did get people talking and several said they talked to more people that night than on any other.

If you’d like to join us, please email emptynesters@traditionsofbraselton.org with name(s), address, best phone number and best email address. Hope to see you soon.

Please plan to join us at our Christmas Party on Dec 6, 2019.

From here we ate a lot of good food and appreciated the comradery of new friends as we visited, relaxed and just relished time spent together. We welcomed our newest members: Linda and Mike Harris, Estera Pop, Carleen and Gary Webb, and Mary Beth and Stan Carpenter, all recent newcomers to Traditions. SEASONED ROASTED TURKEY This roasted turkey is simple and no-fuss, but still packed with seasonal flavor. Garnished with clementines, it also makes for an excellent edible centerpiece. (And should you choose to include the optional Fresh Herb Stuffing, we’ve got the recipe right here.)

INGREDIENTS: 1 (12- to 14-pound) turkey, thawed if frozen 6 sprigs rosemary, divided, plus more for garnish 1/2 recipe uncooked Fresh Herb Stuffing, optional 2 tbsp. olive oil 1 tbsp. no-salt Bell’s Seasoning

RECIPES

TOTAL TIME: 3 h 25 m YIELDS: 8 servings

Kosher salt 2 small onions, quartered 2 large carrots, cut into 2-inch pieces 2 stalks celery, cut into 2-inch pieces 1 head garlic, halved crosswise 3/4 c. chicken stock Clementines, for garnish

DIRECTIONS: Preheat oven to 375°F. Remove giblets and neck from turkey; reserve neck and discard giblets. Pat turkey dry with paper towels. Stuff 4 sprigs rosemary into the main cavity, then fill with Herb Stuffing mixture, if desired. Tie legs together with kitchen twine. Tuck wing tips underneath body. Combine oil, Bell’s Seasoning, and 1 teaspoon salt in a bowl. Rub all over turkey. Place turkey neck, onions, carrots, celery, garlic, and remaining 2 sprigs rosemary in a large roasting pan. Top with a roasting rack and then turkey. Roast until an instant-read thermometer inserted into the thickest part of the thigh registers 165°F, 2 1/2 to 3 hours. (Add stock to pan if vegetables begin to scorch and cover turkey loosely with foil if it browns too quickly.) Carefully tilt turkey to empty juices from the cavity into the pan. Transfer turkey to a cutting board; loosely cover with foil and let rest for at least 25 minutes. Reserve pan and its contents for White Wine and Rosemary Gravy recipe. Carve turkey and garnish with rosemary and clementines.

TRADITION’S YOGA CLASS WITH JULIE HEESS Please consider attending Tradition’s Yoga Class! We meet in the Owner’s Clubhouse on Monday and Wednesday mornings at 8:00 am and we usually finish by 9:15 am. Our class is taught by a Tradition’s resident, Julie Heess, who is certified to teach, Yoga Alliance registered, and CPR certified. Julie has been teaching yoga for over eight years.

The style of yoga practiced is Vinyasa Flow. We move! We do a deep stretch, slow flow class on Mondays. This class will help you with flexibility, strength building, and improved balance. On Wednesday, a faster paced flow class is practiced which focuses on building strength and endurance along with helping flexibility and balance. New and experienced yogis are welcome. Yoga is for everybody! You will need to bring a mat and wear comfortable clothing! A regular yoga practice can help you enjoy a greater sense of calm in your very busy lives. Attending class gives you the privilege of joining others in your neighborhood and it also gives you a chance to give back to your community. We give a food donation to attend this class. The food is distributed to area children through their School Backpack Program. The food helps to feed these children from Friday through Monday and helps them return to class on Monday ready to learn. We have collected and distributed nearly ten tons of food over the past eight years. If you have any questions, please email Julie Heess, 200ERYT at jah1996@aol.com

THE Greatest Gift OF ALL

Hello December! It’s almost Thanksgiving and Christmas is around the corner. I’m always amazed from one year to the next how quickly the year goes by. I’ll always love the decorations, especially the lights, and giving that special gift to that special someone. When making your gift list this year, I invite you to put your name on the at the top of the list! Why you may be asking? Because recently, I read a book about losing weight called The Love Diet. I don’t advocate “dieting” but agreed with the author that loving yourself first might be the first step to success in losing weight and keeping it off. The greatest gift you can give yourself (bet you thought I was going to say a Peleton) is loving yourself and taking care of your body. If we don’t love ourselves, we won’t see the value in loving our bodies, and giving our body the nutrition and physical activity, it needs. Do you love yourself? Do you constantly criticize yourself, put yourself down, even if in a jokingly manner, or say negative things about your body? Whatever the reason you don’t love yourself seek to find out why. There is a world of information out there to help. Loving yourself is not selfish so forgive yourself, don’t dwell on past mistakes, make amends to those you may have offended. Learn how to let go and enjoy the moment. Learn something new, believe in yourself, and have hope for what’s ahead.

Traditions of Braselton

You are worth it just for being who you are. Most of all be patient with yourself during this process of starting to love yourself. It’s progress not perfection. Maybe you have some physical limitations, injuries and the like? Talk to your doctor but don’t use that as an excuse not to get moving. Do what you can with what you can. Go for a walk, do daily activities around the house, get in the garden, take up pickle ball or another sport. Maybe you can’t walk, get some light weights and do some resistance training in your chair. I want to encourage you to take the first steps towards loving yourself and your body. Give yourself the greatest gift of all, the gift of health and well-being. If you have been on the fence about starting an exercise program, especially in the New Year, I would love the opportunity to help you. Whether you need someone to be accountable to, design a program that you can stick to, or need to lose weight, I can help you be successful in your weight and fitness goals. Mention this article and get a free fitness consultation before we start!

THE GREATEST GIFT OF ALL The gift from God is one that believers will never be able to repay. God the Father sent His only begotten Son to die in our place. Jesus Christ was given in exchange for our sins and shame. As a result, all who believe that Christ was sent to earth to redeem all humankind receives the precious gift of salvation. The Bible teaches that there is only one path to salvation. When one believes that Jesus is the way, truth, and life, then he or she must pursue a personal relationship with the one who has given all believers the best gift of all. Give your heart, mind, body, and soul to God. Live each day in a committed relationship with Him. As you spend this holiday season sharing wonderful gifts, all believers should take the opportunity to remember who sacrificed His life so that those who believe can receive eternal life in Heaven! The Bible teaches, in Romans 6:23, “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

If, during this holiday season you are in a state of sadness, despair, or want, open your heart to trust Jesus as your Lord and Savior. He is able to heal your broken heart and fill your life with His goodness. Many people live in remembrance of those who have passed on, and the holiday season is a difficult time. But, I want you to know that the pain in your heart can be healed by Jesus Christ, who died so that you and I can live. Trust in the Lord and depend on Him to carry you into a new season of living! By trusting in the Lord, only great things are ahead! Jeremiah 29:11, teaches, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” New International Version (NIV). Join Lloyd, Portia, Ranah, and Sariah on Wednesday nights for Bible Study at 7pm in the Owner’s Clubhouse!

PA R A N’S C O R N E R

2019 HAS BEEN AWESOME (BUT 2020 WILL BE EVEN BETTER!) “We keep moving forward, opening new doors and doing new things, because we're curious, and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.” - Walt Disney As 2019 winds down to a close, we have a lot to be proud of as far as the growth of this community has been concerned over the last 12 months. While we have surely grown in terms of homes sold and new neighbors added, we have experienced meaningful growth in all areas of our community. • The Expansion of our Branding Efforts: 2019 saw the launch of our new DiscoverTraditionsBraselton.com website, the completion of our Sales Discovery Center, the placement of new signage, the development of new collateral materials and the rebranding of Traditions of Braselton as a life-style centric community that boasts Everyday Luxury in a Country Club Setting. As our sales growth would indicate, these measures have been met with a favorable response from homebuyers. • The Incorporation of New Builders: 2019 also bore witness to an expanded construction portfolio at Traditions of Braselton. In addition to Paran Homes, we have been honored to welcome Currahee Home Builders, Inspired Custom Homes, Vanderbilt Homes, Water’s Edge Group, HillGrove Homes and Paramount Community Builders to the community. Each of these builders brings the own unique sense of style and craftsmanship to the mix, but they have all been carefully chosen to complement one another for a cohesive feel throughout Traditions of Braselton – whether a $700K+ custom home or a $300K spec home. • The Addition of a Very Special Family: On August 10, 2019, Traditions of Braselton threw a “Welcome to the Neighborhood” Block Party for Devon Gales and the Gales Family. It was a happy occasion that marked the next promising leg in a difficult journey that began in 2015 when Devon suffered a life-altering injury during a game between the Georgia Bulldogs and his team, the Southern University Jaguars. Through the partnership of many concerned community members – Paran Homes and Currahee Homes, included among them – Devon and his family are now Traditions of Braselton homeowners. Whit Marshal of Paran Homes donated the land while Mike Elrod of Currahee Home Builders teamed up with local nonprofit Sunshine on a Ranney Day to craft the Gales’ beautiful new handicap-

accessible custom home. Countless suppliers and contractors joined forces to help the design-build team make that vision a reality. • The Introduction of the Resident Ambassador Team: An innovative new measure intended to pair existing residents with homebuyers, our one-of-akind Resident Ambassador Program has enjoyed some terrific success to date. The concept is simple: ambassadors who share similar interests and family structure with prospective new neighbors meet at the Traditions of Braselton Sales Discovery Center to take them on a tour of Traditions while extoling all their favorite features, amenities, memories and insider tips about the surrounding area. A huge THANKS to our inaugural team of Ambassadors for all that you have done to enhance our community with even MORE great families! • The Advent of Several GREAT Events: In addition to our annual SheilaFest music festival and July 4th Celebration, we were delighted with the response to our Kick Off to Summer “Taste Tour Play” Event in May that featured live music, food trucks, tours of the community/available homes, raffles, tennis clinics, golf club fittings and more. For prospective homebuyers, it served as a great sneak peek to the distinctive lifestyle Traditions of Braselton affords its residents, and for current homeowners, it was just a really good time. Based on its reception from all those in attendance, we hope to make it an annual occurrence. While it’s fun to look back and see all that we accomplished in 2019, the REAL FUN comes from making a wish list of accomplishments over the course of the year to come. We will kick 2020 off with the debut of three model homes designed by Paran Homes, Water’s Edge Group and Vanderbilt Homes. We also plan to launch our “Centralized Host” program, where prospective buyers will get a general overview of the community prior to heading out to one of the featured builders’ models for an augmented buying experience and introduction to Traditions. We currently have an astounding 80+ homes under construction throughout the community, which gives us every indication that 2020 will be the best sales year on record for Traditions of Braselton!

From the Paran Homes’ Team, we wish you and yours a Happy Holiday Season and all the best in the New Year!
