WhatwereyoudoingduringtheApril29th,2022tornado?OnApril26,1991,anEF5 tornadostruckthesmalltownofAndovercausingmajordevastationandresultingin seventeencasualties Aquickthirty-oneyearslateronApril29,2022,anothertornado struckAndover,thistimemeasuringasanEF3 ManyAndoverresidentswerecaughtoff guardbythetwisterwithtornadosirenswarningpeopletotakeshelter Morethantwo hundredpeoplehavebeeninvolvedwiththecleanupeffortsthusfar Communitymembers, tornadovictims,andvolunteershavebeenworkingtogetherinordertohelprebuildwhat waslostandsupportthoseinneed.Thankfully,everyonewassafeandmanypeoplehave beencreatingfundraiserstohelpthoseinneedfindanewhomeandreplacetheirbelongings thatweredestroyedinthetornado.

FromhorseracingtofantasticfoodtotheFerriswheel,thestatefairhadit all TheseventhgraderstraveledtotheKansasStateFairinHutchinsonthis pastSeptember Studentswereabletoroamthefairwithingroups chaperonedbyateacher ExcitedAMSfair-goersexploredthepigraces,food stands,militaryvehiclesandmuchmore.Somestudentsalsohadachanceto buyanassortmentofitemsatstandsallaroundthefairgrounds,including toytrumpets,stuffedanimalsandlemonadecups.

Thisyear’sfieldtripwasspecialforourseventhgradersandteachers becauseitwasthefirstfieldtripthatAMSseventhgradershadexperienced sincebeforetheCOVID19pandemic.Studentsandteachersalikeenjoyed thewonderfulweather,greatgamesandremarkablerides.
