La Marina Bowls
Dave Hadaway writes ....Last week we saw the Champion of Champions up to semi-finals stages, on Friday I had the privilege of watching the Ladies Singles quarters and the mixed pairs semi. They were terrific matches but my attention was obviously drawn to the mixed pairs of Shirley and Norman against Bonalba, we needed 3 on the last end and scored 2 so unlucky to lose a semi but that's bowls.
Janet Parsons was playing Jacqui Johnston to rinks over from me and managed to lead a very tight game for most of the time, eventually to win 21-18 and a place in Saturday's semis. Janet's Saturday semi and was against Maggie Furness of Vistabella, and won through to the final with a comfortable win of 21-12. Sunday saw our ladies single final against Bonalba's, Belinda Archer and you won't see many better finals, at 18 ends it was 18 each, either can win this next end and be Champion of Champions by scoring 3 and yes our Janet scored that 3 to win a hard fought match to claim Ladies Singles ñ Champion of Champions.

Wednesday we were at home to San Luis and achieved another very satisfactory win of 8-4, and I must mention Garth Slater's fine singles win of 21-3, well done all.
