2016 Art of the Upper Clutha Calendar “Twelve beautiful paintings” feature on the months of the Upper Clutha Lions 2016 fund raising calendar. The generosity of artists and sponsors have enabled the club to produce a colourful calendar highlighting the Upper Clutha Artists. Following a launch in September calendars will be on sale for $15 from local outlets and Lions members. Proceeds from the sales will be donated to St John Wanaka Ambulance for new equipment. The calendar is to be launched on Sunday 20th September at 2pm, held at the Albert Town Tavern. Come join us and view this calendar along with afternoon tea.

Wanaka Upper Clutha Lions are bringing Mrs Brownz Boys to town as a fundraiser for “Hospice Wanaka” on 17th October 2015. Door opens 6.30pm show starts 7pm.

Dinner, theatre , auction and dance. Where? At the Lake Wanaka Centre. Tickets are $75 and are available at Mitre 10. Be in quick, as shows have sold out rapidly in other towns. Make up a group and come and have a great night out with Mrs Brownz and Crew.

Upper Clutha Lions Walk for Child Mobility 10 kms, 10am, 10th of October. Along with Lions groups nationwide, we are participating in a charity walk to benefit Child Mobility. The walk will start from the BBQ area, Bremner Bay, walking 5kms along the Bremner Bay track, and a sausage sizzle to finish. There will also be shorter distance options. Entry is $10 with all money going to Child Mobility. Keep the date free 10am, 10th of the 10th month. All welcome

The lovely spring weather has arrived. A few mornings have still been very cold though so keep on watching those iced up windscreens and frosty areas.

This week most of our work revolved around Road Policing activities. We have continued to do daily checkpoints targeting alcohol, seatbelts, cell phone usage and WOF/Licence labels.

At one of our check points this week Police located drugs in a vehicle. The male driver was dealt with by Police and arrested.

We attended one non-injury crash where a vehicle drove out of New World and hit a raised island.

There were 2 drivers processed for drink driving this week. Both drivers are now off to Court. Do not DVVXPH WKDW EHFDXVH KRPH LV ÂżYH PLQXWHV DZD\ WKDW you will not come across the Police on the way. We conduct checkpoints anywhere and anytime. Expect to be breath tested.

On the 9th of September a male was arrested for shoplifting at New World Supermarket.
