JET SPRINT WORLD CHAMPS

The Southern Jet Sprints Club is gearing up for a busy summer as it prepares to host round one of the prestigious UIM World Jet Sprint Championships at its aqua track in Wanaka. The event, set to take place on 25 and 26 January, is expecting top drivers and teams from around the globe, showcasing the thrilling speed and skill of jet sprint racing. The club has been hard at work, ensuring the track is in prime condition for the international competition. Volunteers and club members have been busy maintaining the facilities and organising logistics for the event, which will feature some of the world’s best jet sprint drivers from NZ, the USA, Australia and Canada.

Club president Andrew Craig expressed enthusiasm about the event, saying, "Hosting the World Champs is an honour and we’re excited to share our incredible track and stunning location with the international jet sprint community. Ticket sales are going gang-busters too, so we're gearing up for a huge weekend."

With competitors arriving from this weekend, the committee and volunteers have been hard at work preparing the site. The Southern Jet Sprints Club is anticipating an action-packed few weeks. Spectators can expect high-speed thrills, tight competition, and a showcase of premier jet sprint action.

The Economic Bene ts of Going Electric

Electrify Wānaka are a community led organisation that recently formed with the goal to accelerate the electri cation of Wānaka.

The group’s main focus is to communicate with the community about the economic, social, health and environmental bene ts of electri cation. They have been encouraging the use of Rewiring Aotearoa’s new calculator to see how much money and emissions you can save through electri cation.

The Ruby - a swim event around Ruby Island, takes place on Saturday 25th January between 6.30am and 12.30pm based at Waterfall Creek at the end of Ruby Island road which will be very busy. The event will be at its most active between 7.00am and 11.30am with swimmers in the bay out to Ruby Island.
