This is the 11th year Judy and her great group of volunteers have collected in Wanaka. Please phone 443 8161 if you would like to join our volunteer group.

Funds raised help the New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation continue its work: • through life-saving early detection campaigns • supporting women with the disease • research into better treatments • breast cancer research.

Last year we raised $3769.20; this year we would love to get over $4000. Here’s hoping for a nice sunny day.

Hi everyone and welcome to what is almost the end of the ski season and the beginning of boating season. That is when the wind stops.

The weather caused a few problems over the weekend. Two trees came down across roads, cutting power lines. This saw residents and locals with tourists and roading companies all working together to make the areas safe from personal injury, crashes and ÂżUHV IURP WKH ZLUHV I was proud to see that about 2 dozen people had mucked in on Wanaka - Mt Aspiring Road near the Mt Rob Roy walking track.

They chain-sawed, lifted, and with a tractor in tow - moved a very large Poplar tree which had come down across the road. From what I heard on the Police radio we did pretty well compared to other areas in the damage reports.

The 1st of October saw the Wanaka Light Up street party go off really well.

A male was spoken to about an assault.

A car crashed into a house on Little Street and the driver ran off.

On the 2nd October, CCTV footage shows four males taking a bike from the Purple Cow back packers. Those involved are invited to the Police station for a cup of tea and a chat.

On the 3rd Police attended a crash on the Crown Range where a camper van ended up on its side. Thanks to those who helped at this event.

Overnight on Saturday, two windows were smashed and a wall was damaged at the high school. This will probably cost the school near enough to a $1000 in repairs. We are extremely interested in locating these offenders.

Police are still looking at cell phone use when people are driving.

Our advice, at this stage, is to hold off upgrading to Windows 10, particularly if you are running Windows 7.
