Stars In Your Eyes is back! Wanaka’s longest-running show will take to the stage for its 30th season from 18 to 21 September 2024 in the Lake Wanaka Centre, and promises to be bigger and better than ever.
Organised by Wanaka Musicians Incorporated and featuring local talent, the show raises funds to support local music education for young people. Following the 2023 shows, the society was delighted to be able to support Wānaka’s newest school, Te Kura O Take Kākara, in the development of its music teaching capability through the acquisition of musical instruments and a teaching package. Pupils are pictured above playing some of the new instruments
under the guidance of teacher Janine Weatherly, who as it happens performed in last year’s show and is Director of the 2024 shows. Do you wonder if there are any more talents hiding away who might step up as stars this year?
The society also gives an annual scholarship award to a MAC music student in memory of Jamie Robertson, one of the founders of Stars. In 2023 the award went to Matilda Metcalfe, a talented all-round musician who went on to study music and art design at Massey University in Wellington.
