With an amazing selection of second-hand ski gear, including snowboards, skis, boots, helmets, and winter clothing, the team have been hard at work getting everything ready for next week’s winter drop.

“We’re incredibly lucky to live in such a generous community, there’s such a great selection of second-hand gear!” says reuse team leader Mathilde Fonteneau. “There really is something for everyone.”

The Fox & Badger will be serving up delicious kai and hot coffees all day Saturday, and what’s a party without music? The Wānaka Project will be performing live to keep the good vibes going.

The Wastebusters Epic Winter Drop is on 18 and 19 May, from 9.00am to 5.00pm. The recycling drop off lane will remain open during the sale.

The Wanaka athlete has been selected to represent New Zealand at the Obstacle Course Racing World Championships, to be held in Costa Rica in August 2024.

This great honour comes with a lot of hard work and training, but unfortunately no funding.

But that’s no obstacle either, Sarah, her friends and workmates are embarking on a season of fundraising to ensure she gets to Costa Rica in top shape and ready to take on everything thrown at her!

The ‘Aquavan’ is Coming to Wānaka

Community Organisation WAI Wānaka is thrilled to be welcoming The NZ Marine Studies Centre’s Aquavan.

The van and its team visit Wānaka Primary next Tuesday,14 May, for an all-ages drop-in session from 3.00 –6.00pm in the school hall.

The NZ Marine Studies Centre (through the University of Otago) brings live marine critters and touch pools to schools and communities to create awareness and understanding of the connectivity between river health and the coastal environment.

Specially designed to transport marine species, the van is equipped with chilled re-circulating seawater tanks and a mobile touch tank to support

hands-on learning.

“This is a fantastic opportunity to explore the intricate relationships between inland and coastal environments.
