After a busy summer season, the proceeds from the night will be used towards a new CPR mannequin for crew and community training. Lions Club have been raising money for a vast number of individuals and clubs who require our assistance across our community. Numerous fundraising activities are held across the year, including catering at Wanaka A&P Show as well as other events, firewood sales and raffles.

George said "Our group, like most, are growing in age. However, young and old work their butts off producing a massive amount of firewood from full length trees that they chainsaw, split, pile, load, and deliver around the district."

Building on the huge success the group has had with ‘Magic: The Gathering’ events where, every week, they have a large number of local players enjoying the game, this is another great opportunity to socialise - all whilst playing some fun board games.

Food For Love Seeks Support for Fundraiser

Food For Love and Bayleys Wānaka have teamed up once more for the ‘Plate Up For Love’ fundraiser, this coming September.

Cafes and restaurants across the Upper Clutha region are invited to participate by selecting a dish from their menu for September, with $3 from each order going back to Food For Love.

Established in 2016, Food For Love is a volunteer-led organisation that provides free homecooked meals to locals during unexpected times of need. This includes helping people whilst undergoing cancer treatment, recovering from cardiac arrest/stroke, serious illnesses, injuries or surgeries. They also support the elderly and a lot of families living in our community.

General Manager, Jodie Stuart said “The organisation has seen a 382% increase in meals since 2020, delivering over 8,000 meals last year. ‘Plate Up For Love’ serves as a testament to the power of community collaboration, bringing together businesses and individuals to make a tangible difference in the lives of those facing adversity.”
