The Hāwea Community Association Public Meeting

The Hāwea Community Association will be holding a public meeting on Saturday, 10 February at the Lake Hāwea Community Hall in Myra Street between 9.00 – 11.00am. The purpose of the meeting is to create an open dialogue within our community to discuss anything and everything Hāwea related, which will help form the basis of our communications with QLDC. Current topics of conversation include green spaces and the QLDC tree policy for Hāwea, signage along the lakefront track, the petition against the location of the One NZ phone tower amongst residential properties, Hāwea submissions for the 10-year plan, swimming areas in the Lake, the best way to consult with Hāwea Flat, and anything else you want to discuss! If you want have ideas or are frustrated at the rate of development in the district, now is the time to have your say. No workshops, no pre-planned or defined exercises with expected outcomes, just pure discussion! Wanaka Genealogical Group are pleased to host Fintan Mullan and Gillian Hunt of the Ulster Historical Foundation who will be returning to the Southern Hemisphere for a lecture tour programme for the first time since 2017. They are visiting Wanaka on Tuesday, 27 February for a lecture and private research consultations. You will not want to miss this opportunity. Fintan and Gillian have amazing knowledge of the best resources when it comes to sorting out those tricky Irish ancestors. Due to time constraints, there is a maximum number of consultations that can be scheduled. Be sure to act quickly to avoid disappointment. The one-on-one consultations will be in Wanaka Library 9.00am – 12.00pm, Tuesday, 27 February (extended to the afternoon if there are enough bookings).
