The NZ Mountain Film Festival

will be held for the thirteenth year in Wanaka on 3 to 7 of July, Cromwell 8 July and Queenstown 9 to 11 July. This iconic film festival hosts a variety of events to celebrate adventurous lifestyles, adventure filmmaking and mountain books.

This year, there’s a distinctly New Zealand flavour as Kiwi filmmakers, authors, speakers and adventurers feature heavily throughout the programme. Films from Wanaka locals Tim Pierce, David Walden will feature and Lydia Bradey and Derek Grzelewski will read excerpts from their books in a new event, Words and Wine at Rippon hall.

Kiwi white water kayaking legend Ben Brown will be speaking on Sunday 5th July. Ben’s kayaking has taken him from Zambia to Uganda, Iceland to Northern Norway, Thailand and Canada. Ben will talk about his career as a professional kayaker and some of the setbacks and the lessons he has learnt along the way.

The festival also includes a photography competition with $1,000 in cash prizes, writing and filmmaking workshops. Avalanche awareness, bike tuning and the environmental education. Book readings, storytelling and an artwork are new to the line up.
