Around 20 artworks from selected Level 2 and Level 3 Visual Arts students will be exhibited at the Wanaka Fine Art Gallery from 20th September to 22nd September. The work will encompass a range of graphic, paint, photographic and digital media. The work exhibited is part of the students’ external portfolio for Level 2 and 3 NCEA where student work on individual programmes of work suited to their personal interests and ability – student lead learning. Teachers facilitate the learning for the student – an art school approach

to teaching and learning. Their portfolio work assists students in being accepted into tertiary courses. MAC currently has students studying Fine Arts at Elam Art School, Massey Design and Otago School of Fine Arts with some ex students even becoming art teachers themselves! This is the first time MAC Art students have had the opportunity to exhibit work in a commercial gallery space. To take student work out of the school context and have it exhibited in a gallery presents MAC’s Art students with a real world experience and reinforces the fact that their work is not out of place in a gallery context. Luckily the cyclist only received bruising rather than serious injuries. We have received a report of machinery being tampered with and vandalised on a rural property in Luggate. This happened sometime earlier in the week. There were three drink drivers intercepted during their travels this week. Police are awaiting the result of a blood test after one of the drivers refused to undergo the breath test. A female was arrested for disorderly behaviour after she had been asked to leave the Waterbar on Saturday morning due to her intoxicated state.
