The Lakes District Floral Art Club has operated in the Upper Clutha for many years with members from Chatto Creek, Alexandra, Cromwell, Queenstown, Wanaka and Lake Hawea. We meet on the 3rd Monday of the month at 1.30pm. We meet because we have a passion for flowers and foliage, design and ingenuity, artistry and accomplishment. Our club meets a few times a year with Dunedin and Southland club area days. Our qualified judges and tutors assist us with our frequent competitions at club meetings and area days. Floral Art New Zealand fasnz.org.nz is a source of inspiration and training. Most importantly, our meetings are stimulating fun times and we love to assist new club members with floral design.

Hi to one and all from the end of another weekend in Paradise. I know we are technically in a shoulder season but we are still getting some solid nights out there during the weekends. Four drink drivers were caught this weekend. All are living locally with one being three times the legal alcohol limit. The taxi service works well here in Wanaka so let’s use them eh. Save yourself the risk of getting caught or hurting someone. This Thursday afternoon between mid-day and 12.10pm we had a tourist’s bag containing two cameras stolen from the area of the I-site by a male in a dark jacket. If anyone saw this or knows who it might be let us know. We had a “hit and runâ€? type crash on the intersection of Anderson Road and SH84 where a male described as elderly driving a silver car crashed into a young student on her way to her exam. The offending driver drove a short distance up the road and checked his car then drove off. This person is out there and the damage to his vehicle will be on the front right. Keep your eyes open for this dishonest person and call it in if you think you see the vehicle or know who it is. We had a 14 year old caught at New World stealing $9.73 of groceries. That person is now trespassed from New World for 2 years.
