The Upper Clutha will be mesmerised once again as “Stars in Your Eyes 2015” prepare to surprise audiences over 3 nights of jampacked entertainment. It can be revealed that well known Wanaka identity and past Stars in Your Eyes performer Jen Anderson (as pictured) will grace the stage as this year’s compere extraordinaire. Stars in Your Eyes acknowledges the endless dedication by Jamie Robertson, as he retired this year. In his honour, the scholarship MAC receives each year from some of Stars in

Your Eyes proceeds will be named the “Jamie Robertson Scholarship”. All proceeds of the show go to local schools in the Upper Clutha area and are dedicated to our children’s musical education.

Spring has arrived and there is a new energy around the town. There was plenty of positive energy during the Audi Quattro Winter Games, and at Sunday night’s closing Kora Concert. Police are happy to report that the crowd was generally well behaved. So here is a list of a few of the incidents local Police dealt with over the last seven days: On 27 August a window of a commercial building was forced open allowing someone to enter the building. The fact the building is alarmed probably caused the person to leave in a hurry. A line of enquiry is being followed up. On 28 August the driver of a campervan traversing the Crown Range Road was spoken to in town and he was issued with an LQVWDQW ¿QH IRU FURVVLQJ WKH FHQWUH OLQH QXPHURXV WLPHV 5HPHPEHU WKDW WKH RSSRVLWH ODQH EHORQJV WR RQFRPLQJ WUDI¿F DW DOO WLPHV unless you are passing. Also that day a complaint was made to Police in relation to the theft of a length of concrete drainage pipe from a Loach Road, Hawea Flat address. A male was seen on a red tractor using the front mounted forks to remove the pipe from near the rear boundary. Best if that person speaks to me at the Wanaka Police Station and perhaps a good resolution can be achieved for all. On 29 August a sign outside the Night ‘N Day in Ardmore St was removed. The offender was caught on CCTV and we are reviewing that to identify the person responsible. A bike was left locked at the top of the Monley Lane steps overnight and someone has removed the front wheel and dismantled the rear wheel. Anyone with information is asked to contact local Police. Also that evening a local 21 year old male was removed from the Water Bar and warned for trespass. On the night of 30 August, two males were processed for drink driving - one will be appearing in Court, while the other driver FROOHFWV GHPHULW SRLQWV DQG D LQVWDQW ¿QH On 31st August Police attended a single vehicle non-injury crash on Hawea Back Road. Police ask that users of Hawea Back Road take extreme care due to the loose gravel making the road treacherous to travel on. Have a safe and enjoyable Spring.
