LIGHT UP WANAKA A group of local volunteers came together with the idea to “Light Up Wanaka” for the winter, and their vision has been realised with the first of 12 Night Markets happening last Thursday.

These markets, combining the Wanaka Farmers Market and a host of stalls that offer yummy treats including Mulled wine and crafts, added a fun and festive atmosphere to down town.

Local retail business have got on board buying up over 60 sets of fairy lights that got turned on on the 4th of July adding to the magical winter wonderland feeling of our resort town.

The local Farmers market have moved from their mall location to offer their delicious produce and they have been joined by an array of food, craft, arts and mulled wine stalls.

Live music will be on tap to entertain shoppers with local talents being booked in over the next two months.

Every Thursday from 4pm till 7:30pm the markets will run located on Ardmore Street starting out in front of Speights Ale House stretching along the Bullock creek towards Francesca’s.

Another scam has come to our attention this week. A male with an Indian accent states he is calling from IRD, wanting personal information and stating you have a rebate. If in doubt get their number and call them back and donâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t give out passwords or personal information.

We are also investigating theft of over $1300 through online banking.

HOUSING ASSISTANCE? Community Housing Trust â&#x20AC;&#x201C; Information Evening The Queenstown Lakes Community Housing Trust (QLCHT) was created to manage and deliver affordable housing solutions to those vital to the community who cannot afford it. The intent of the Trust is to provide housing for low to moderate income households through a range of programmes such as Affordable Rental, Rent Saver and Shared Ownership.

There are a number of eligibility criteria which can be viewed on the website www.qlcht.org.nz The Trust currently houses around 65 singles, couples and families throughout the Queenstown and Wanaka districts. Thanks to developer contributions the Trust will have resources to assist more households in the Wanaka area over the next 24 months.

The Trust is holding a free information evening on Thursday 30th July at 6pm in the Armstrong Room room of the Lake Wanaka Centre. This is an opportunity for you to find out more about the programmes run by the Trust along with upcoming opportunities in the Wanaka district.
