With a jam-packed programme of live entertainment and interactive family fun, the 79th annual Wanaka A&P Show is expected to be a hit with the community this weekend.

This year’s Show will see a new Life & Style Marquee, with demonstrations catering to a variety of interests, including MasterChef New Zealand’s Jax Hamilton, a boer goat cooking demonstration and a whiskey tasting by the new Cardrona Distillery.

As usual there’ll be great live music and roving entertainment, but new for the kids is the House

Our advice, at this stage, is to hold off upgrading to Windows 10, particularly if you are running Windows 7.

This last week has seen a couple of things going on in the town: The week started with a harassment complaint and an assault charge after a domestic incident. We also dealt with one drink driver, drugs located in a vehicle and a couple of jobs assisting mental health agencies.

A white, Iron Horse mountain bike was reported stolen. It had been tied up under the deck of a house.

An injured male was flown from the Cascade Saddle area by the Wanaka SAR team.

A male found lying under a bush intoxicated on the weekend, on a rural road, was taken home by Police. It’s not a great idea to fall asleep in places other than your own home.

We have found intoxicated people in other places before: In the middle of a dark road, other people’s houses, in lounges, sheds, beds, on lawns, in gardens, on the beach, in public toilets. Basically everywhere. The ads on TV say it all. No more beersies for him.

Slow down on the drinking. The night is to be enjoyed, not ending with a criminal record.

We have the Warbirds Air Show coming too, so prepare your travel routes for getting around the ‘one-way system’ that comes about on these days. Normally detours go around Hawea Flat.
