WEDDING DAY TIPS TO KEEP THINGS RUNNING SMOOTHLY Article contribution by Jen Ronning, Sparkle Darling

SCHEDULE TRIAL
HAIR & MAKEUP TIME FRAME
To ensure that everything runs smoothly on your event date, be sure to schedule a consultation and trial session with your makeup artist and hair stylist 1-2 months prior to your event. You’ll feel relaxed and won’t be making decisions under pressure.
Day-of hair styling will take approximately 40-45 minutes per person, depending on the type of hair style. Makeup applications take approximately 30 minutes per person.
3
4
DAY OF SCHEDULING
BRIDE FIRST
Once you’ve determined the time when you need to be ready, we suggest working backwards in 30-40 minute increments to determine an arrival time for your beauty team. For example, if you need to be ready by 3 PM and have six applications/styles total, the start time would be 11 AM for hair and 12 PM for makeup.
Contrary to what most people think, it’s actually best for the bride to have her hair and makeup done toward the beginning or middle of the timeline as opposed to the very end. In the (highly likely) event that things are running a tad behind schedule, you don’t want your stylists rushing on the bride.
5
6
GETTING READY PHOTOS
DRY HAIR PLEASE
If you are hoping for some getting ready photos, the planned time slot for the bride’s hair and makeup should coordinate with arrival time of your photographer. The day will continue to run smoothly and photos won’t be delayed.
Arrive with dry hair. If possible, wash hair the day before (not the day of) as the oils will help your style hold better. Also, arrive with a clean face but without moisturizer, as your makeup artist will apply primer before your foundation.

ALEX & ELIZABETH
JULY 29, 2017 | GATHER ON BROADWAY ALI LEIGH PHOTO
Alex and Elizabeth both grew up in Green Bay. College and work had taken them out of the area, but they wanted to return to their hometown for the wedding of their dreams. Elizabeth had a tremendous sense of style and design. For their wedding she envisioned metallic tones, the softness of candlelight and industrial touches. Gather on Broadway seemed like the perfect venue for this vision. The day approached that they had planned for. The women stayed at Lodge Kohler and were pampered in style. The men were together at the groom’s parents home located in historic Astor Park. The couple decided to see each other before the late afternoon ceremony so that they could enjoy the evening that they knew would go by too fast. Where else but to do the first look other than St. James Park, right across the street from Alex’s parents home. Ali Leigh Photography captured stunning images of the couple amongst the scenery. The bridal party joined in the pictures and all were so relaxed when arriving for the ceremony. The ceremony was held at Old St. Joseph’s Church on St. Norbert College’s Campus. The bride’s Hayley Paige wedding dress was absolutely stunning next to her groom’s classic black tuxedo. After the ceremony concluded guests were transported straight to the reception in Downtown Green Bay at Gather on Broadway. The succulent lined centerpieces were handcrafted by the bride’s family. The talented mother of the bride, Patty, took every detail into account when planning the look of the tables. Custom library card menus placed on individual clipboards, were personalized for each place setting. A delectable menu was catered by Runaway Spoon and guests danced the night away under the romantic lights.

KEVIN & JORDY
JULY 8, 2017 | ONEIDA GOLF & COUNTRY CLUB MARK HAWKINS PHOTOGRAPHY
Kevin & Jordy wed in Green Bay amidst their closest family and friends. They wanted their guests to have fun and to have an experience instead of a traditional local wedding. The couple picked a location where they both grew up and their families spent a lot of time, Oneida Golf & Country Club. There was so much thought and detail put into the planning by the couple along with their family. The weekend started off with an amazing Mexican themed welcome celebration - as the couple was engaged during a trip to Mexico. The men got ready in the groom’s family home. While wearing classic tuxes a bit of family history was integrated into the look - incorporating the family’s Irish plaid in the tie. The girls prepped for the day in matching robes and gathered at the Country Club to get dressed, where they met the men for pictures. After a breathtaking first-look on the golf course it was time to be transported to the evening ceremony at Resurrection Catholic Parish. After the ceremony guests were immediately welcomed to the Country Club by an over-the-top dessert display, floral wall photo booth, music, ice luge, cocktails, food stations and a live band. The format of the evening was most definitely eat, drink and be married! Guests indulged in fantastic selections of seafood, sushi, pasta, mashed potato and carving stations. The couple celebrated and danced the night away with their guests. The wedding weekend ended with a "kegs and eggs" send off the next morning at Titletown Brewing Company with rooftop views of the city.

VENUE TIPS Article contribution by Angela Jellum Group Sales Manager at Hyatt Regency Green Bay
1
When selecting a reception venue it is always a good idea to figure out if having a venue attached to a hotel will be easier for your guests and their overall experience for the wedding weekend. Having a hotel attached is convenient for guests and will be less stressful not having to worry about shuttle service at the end of the night.
2
Always check with the Wedding Sales Manager to see how flexible they are with their menu offerings as it is fun to get creative with your food options to give your guests a special experience that they will not forget. For example it is fun to incorporate foods that are important to each side of the family or a food that has special meaning to the bridal couple.
3
Always ask if there are any hidden fees that are not listed on the wedding packet. Some facilities offer a one price option while others charge for additional items such as linens and china. Knowing these fees will help when comparing prices and features that the different venues have to offer.

SEEMA & ROHIT
AUGUST 19, 2017 | HYATT REGENCY GREEN BAY ERIN JEAN PHOTOGRAPHY
Seema and Rohit wanted a joyous celebration with all of their family from across the world in traditional Indian form here in Green Bay. Seema grew up in Green Bay and wanted to hold the wedding here for her family and friends. The Hyatt Regency in conjunction with the KI Convention Center lent itself as the perfect venue choice based on the location, amenities and space size. For so many out-of-town guests, it was ideal as guests could explore the city by walking. The welcome celebration was held at Tiletown Brewing Company, which is just over the bridge from the hotel. Guests wore traditional Indian attire but munched on Wisconsin favorites including cheese curds, brats, sliders, and Titletown brews. The wedding day arrived and the bridal party was pampered by local beauty artists. Rohit was ready for his welcoming to the family in a traditional Baraat. A horse and carriage took the groom through the streets of Green Bay with guests dancing all around him. He entered the convention center excited to join his family with hers. After the entrance it was Seema’s time to WOW her groom with her beautiful traditional sari and jewels. She was absolutely stunning entering the room filled with beautifully bright colored floral from buds 'n bloom design studio. The mandap that they were married under in the ballroom was the highlight of the space filled with florals and crystal. After the ceremony the wedding party toured the town and riverwalk to take pictures while the guests enjoyed cocktail hour. Dinner was a traditional Indian menu. The bride and groom sat at a sweetheart table with the most opulent and fragrant floral wall behind them. Guests were thrilled again with the beautiful floral, linen and lighting design in the room as they entered. Rohit welcomed guests and told them of how he met his bride and how much he respected her and will take care of her for the rest of his life. As wine flowed, and delicious cake was eaten, a surprise mob dance, orchestrated by the groom’s sister, broke out on the dance floor. That was the perfect setting to fill the dance floor for the rest of the night. Guests partied into the evening and said goodbye the next morning at a farewell brunch hosted by the bride’s family.

florals WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE HIRING A FLORIST Article Contribution by buds 'n bloom design studio
When is a good starting point to set up a consult? We get asked this question often. We encourage our brides to wait to set up a floral meeting until they have their ceremony location, reception venue, bride and bridesmaids dresses selected. These are key elements that really help determine the floral design that will make your wedding dream a reality.
What is a general floral timeline? • 8-12 months before the event book your consult, decide on florist and put down the required deposit • 6-8 weeks before the event set up a follow-up consult • 3 weeks before the event confirm final table count and delivery time • 2 weeks before submit final payment
How much should I budget for florals? Weddings florals can range from $800-$60,000... Our typical weddings range from $3,500-7,000 depending on how many people are in the bridal party and tables are at the reception. We have many add on rental items such as crystal chandeliers that can influence the budget too. But don’t worry, if your wedding is small and intimate, we accommodate everyone’s budget and vision.
What are the top 3 things I should ask before hiring a florist? It’s important to understand all the services that your potential florist has to offer. Here are the top three things you should talk through before hiring a florist. • How do they handle delivery and take down? • Discuss your overall budget and what their contract includes. • View their portfolio to be sure the florist can complete your vision and style.
What can I do with my floral arrangements after the wedding day? Many couples have family that take the flowers home at the end of the night, some couples use them for gift opening or brunch the next day, or we offer to take the flowers at the end of the evening back to the studio and donate them to nursing homes and hospice the next day.

Why do couples love having a brewery wedding? We think couples love having a brewery wedding because it’s an incredibly unique space from the other banquet halls. There are numerous design and architectural features that are not what you would find at other venues around town. Our open space and the interesting finishes and fixtures we selected to create the event space pull inspiration from the main brewery and brewing processes. We asked ourselves: how can we make the connection between brewing beer and hosting weddings? How can we elevate the photography for these couples, how can we elevate their entire experience?
What type of couple does a brewery wedding appeal to? The space, in general, was designed to and will appeal to a wide variety of couples and personalities. With that said here are a few “types” we have classified based on our experiences:
30
T H E W E D D I N G M AG A Z I N E 2 0 1 8
THE DETAILED
THE SOCIAL BUTTERFLY
THE BEER LOVERS
We included subtle yet powerful design elements like hand-stained barrel rounds and hand-laid barrel staves through the space to tie in elements of our brand with elements of our craft. The thought and planning behind each decision helps make the space beautiful on its own yet extremely customizable to your theme and decor choices.
The nature of our brewery is very social and welcoming. We modeled our event space after that. Like historical beer halls, our focus is to foster conversation and event participation with a drink in hand. We don’t want people sitting at the bar through the reception but rather interacting with the space and one another.
This may be obvious, but it doesn’t hurt to be a beer lover! We serve more than just beer to help cater to other guests preferences. Working with one of our skilled and knowledgeable beertenders to find the best drink option makes choices easier whether you are looking for beer, soda, or other malt beverages!

What's the biggest trend you're seeing when it comes to brewery weddings? Couples love to let their guests know which beer is their favorite. It allows guests who may not like craft beer or may not have tried a certain style, to try something new that the couple is recommending. It goes hand in hand with what truly makes Badger State Brewing so unique as the variety of beers to choose from usually stands at or over 16 choices. The couples have a great time coming in and sampling the beers we have. It allows them to customize the beer offerings that we provide in our event space. We can tailor to their preferences and what we know about their guests’ tastes. We’ve even replaced a tap handle or two with the couple's custom tap handle!
Does a brewery wedding have to be a casual event or can it work for formal weddings as well? In our first two seasons of hosting weddings, we’ve seen quite a variety of layouts, themes, and concepts. Some couples want the more casual-style event. They tend to lean into our interior design elements and accent with their own centerpieces and bar toppers. We’ve also seen the more formal style as well. With full place settings, hanging lights, floral trim, etc. where our interior design elements become the accents. The beauty of a larger, open-concept and simply designed space is that it can work for any wedding style because you can make it your own without doing a lot.
What should couples know about having a brewery wedding? Planning a brewery wedding is really no different from weddings at other venues. There’s a lot of prep and setup that we take care of so they don’t have to. We try to keep a stock of the “most needed items” to help make the day run as smoothly as possible. Remember that this is one of the most important days of your life and we are here along with your other vendors to make it as unique and memorable as possible!
How do you personalize weddings with your business? We allow the couple and bridal party to get pictures taken throughout the brewery and event space. They can get in with the kettles and our barrel-aging room. We’ve also done special bottled beers and brought in special guest kegs from other Wisconsin breweries that may be special to the couple as well. We also love seeing the different decorations and favors that couples bring in for their guests. We’ve seen more and more couples bring in personalized glassware and tumblers for their guests to use when ordering at the bar. It’s a great way for them to connect our brewery with their experience.
