dress tips FINDING YOUR PERFECT WEDDING GOWN Article Contribution by Brenda Kilheffer, Owner, Tie the Knot Bridal Boutique

Congratulations! You're engaged! It's time to find the perfect wedding dress. Brides have many emotions when looking for their wedding dress - happy, anxious, excited, scared. All these feelings are natural. It's the shopping experience you've been looking forward to for years! Here are a few tips to help you have the best experience.

• • • • •

Schedule no more than two appointments in a day. More than that can be confusing and exhausting. Bring photos of dresses that you like or of your wedding vision to your appointment. Meet with a bridal consultant one-on-one to get the bridal experience you desire. Be open to trying on different styles, fabrics, and necklines. Often brides purchase a dress opposite of their desired style. Most dresses are not custom made. You are measured to the dress manufacturer's size chart. Alterations will most likely be needed. When you find the dress of your dreams - stop shopping!

DRESS TIPS

It's recommended that every bride should take a step back from this magical wedding shopping expedition and think about how to get their best experience. Here are a few tips to consider when it’s time to find the perfect dress.

SHOP EARLY

Shopping for your wedding dress should be 9-12 months in advance.

DON'T WAIT

Do you plan to get in shape or lose a bit of weight before the wedding? Are you holding out on shopping because of this? Since you have to lose inches from your bust, waist and hips to go down a size, order your dress in the recommended timeline. Alterations cost the same whether they take in one inch or two. Waiting to dress shop adds stress and you will most likely incur rush order fees.

GO DURING OFF MONTHS

DON'T BRING TOO MANY PEOPLE

AVOID THE COFFEE SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT AVOID SATURDAYS DRESS OPTIONS AVAILABLE SAYING YES!

6

T H E W E D D I N G M AG A Z I N E 2 0 1 9

Peak dress shopping times are December - March. To have a more relaxing shopping experience, think about going during months other than engagement season (holidays). Think hard about who will be a supporter of your opinions when you are trying on dresses and ask those key people to come with you. Too many people bring too many opinions. Keep this key group small, ideally 2-3 people. Most local bridal shops are not that large and cannot accommodate large groups of people sitting comfortably while you try on. Leave the drinks in the car. We all love our coffee! But white dresses + coffee don’t mix. Plan for a coffee stop between stores. Most bridal stores recommend appointments. Walking into bridal stores isn’t frowned upon to look and just get an idea, however, don’t expect to have undivided attention from a consultant. Stores plan their scheduling around appointments so they can best service you. Saturdays are the busiest day of the week for wedding dress shopping. Stores are packed full of appointments, brides & their guests. Consider a night after work, or better yet, cut the crowds and take a day off work. Keep in mind that boutiques typically have one dress per style (in most cases). If there are four brides trying on dresses at one time on a Saturday, you aren't seeing the full inventory Be confident in your wedding dress purchase. If you're not sure, think about it or visit more bridal stores. If you know it's the dress, stop shopping and celebrate.

YOU'RE ENGAGED! SCREAM IT FROM THE ROOFTOPS! NOW LET'S GET FORMAL... Article contribution by Social Graces

SAVE THE DATES Save the Dates should only be sent to those guests who will be invited to the wedding. You can use a paperless save the date if you wish, however, remember this will be harder for the older generation and others to remember the date if it isn’t printed in front of them and put on their desk, fridge, or calendar. Start your guest list in a template from your local stationer or planner so you don’t need to rework the wheel once you need these to mail.

ADDRESSING TIPS

ADDRESSING ETIQUETTE

Children that are old enough to be out of the house should get their own invite

Addresses should be written formally which means no

Single guests do not require an "and guest" option

Example: 1234 Main Street Green Bay, Wisconsin 54301

If you know the guest, address them by their name Example: Ms. Jillian Smith and Ryan

abbreviating.

Address your guests as you would invite them. Formal Example: Mr. and Mrs. John Smith

PRO TIP: If you are trying to slim down the guest list, cut the "and guest "options if you don’t know them or they haven’t been dating that long.

Casual Example: John & Mary Smith If inviting families indicate that. Example: Mr. and Mrs. John Smith & Family

MAILING & POSTAGE TIPS

12

Always take your complete stuffed save the date envelope or invitation suite to the post office to get measured and weighed before buying postage.

If using custom postage order this postage after the invitation comes in and you are able to get it weighed and measured at the post office. This typically adds 2 weeks to the ordering time.

When selecting your invitation, be mindful of items that add to your postage fee: square size, oversized, overweight, ribbons with knots, folders, etc.

T H E W E D D I N G M AG A Z I N E 2 0 1 9

INVITATIONS •

Invitations should be mailed 8-10 weeks prior to the wedding, which means you should start working on them 4-6 months prior.

A wedding invitation should be a preview of your wedding style. This is the only item the guest has in their hands to know how to show up accordingly. Make it a true reflection of the wedding.

If stating dress code, use proper wording appropriate for the wedding. If black tie, that truly means all men should arrive in tuxedos & women in formal evening gowns. This is not that common, try using these dress codes to inform guests.

• Cocktail Attire - Men in suits, short dresses acceptable for women

• Casual Attire - Khakis & no suit jacket acceptable, women in less formal dress

Order extra envelopes in case of addressing mistakes.

If using a calligrapher be sure to get on her schedule 6-9 months in advance. Contact your local stationery store for a recommended list.

When selecting the RSVP address on the envelope, make sure that it will not change in the coming months. If you're planning to move, consider having one of your parents collecting these for you.

INVITATIONS

WHEN PARENTS ARE HOSTING THE WEDDING If the bride’s parents are footing most of the wedding bill, the invitation should come from their address as they are technically hosting the wedding. Have a conversation with both sets of parents when deciding on your invitation wording. Once you have a proof of the invitation share it with them to ensure all parties are happy.

EXAMPLE OF A BRIDE’S PARENTS HOSTING Mr. and Mrs. John Smith invite you to the marriage of their daughter Sarah Anne To Tyler James son of Mr. and Mrs. James Schiller

EXAMPLE OF BOTH SETS OF PARENTS HOSTING Mr. and Mrs. John Smith and Mr. and Mrs. James Schiller invite you to the marriage of their children Sarah Anne and Tyler James PARENTS STILL HOSTING, BUT NO NAMES Along with their parents Sarah Anne Smith And Tyler James Schiller Invite you to celebrate in their marriage

HAVING A WEDDING WITHOUT CHILDREN INVITED?

WHY ORDER LOCALLY?

Totally understandable. Here are some tips to politely remind your guests of that.

There are a lot of formalities and etiquettes when it comes to inviting guests to the largest celebration you will ever have. Make sure to take meaningful time to invite them gracefully. There are a lot of online options for Do-It-Yourself brides, but don’t forget about your local resources that can make this process pain free and save you a lot of time and money in mistakes.

• • •

On the invitation envelope only address it to the "Mr. and Mrs." of the home. On the reception card indicate, “Adult Reception” On the RSVP instead of saying "Number of Guests Attending" say "Number of Adults Attending".

RSVP TIPS Make the RSVP easy to read and respond to. Clearly ask the guest how many are attending and then obtain their meal choices & dietary restrictions so you properly prepare for their meal with the caterer.

• • •

EXAMPLE Names ______________________

Set your RSVP date out 3-4 weeks prior to the wedding so you allow follow up time with guests who have not responded. Consider using a monogram or crest to be used throughout the stationery & design process. Consider other pieces of the wedding day stationery that will match the invitation, ie. Ceremony Program, Escort Card, Seating Chart, Menu, Welcome Bag Insert, Favor Tags Plan to have guests mail a RSVP card back to you. The response rate is greater than RSVPing online and this is the last thing you want to be waiting on when your final counts are due to your florist, planner and caterer.

SUNIL & GAAR JULY 7 | ABOUT THYME FARM MICHAEL SEGAL PHOTOGRAPHY

Sunil & Gaar wanted a Door County wedding for it's calm, relaxing vibe and to bring their guests from all over the globe to a place that they both loved. Their vision was for a bohemian theme with soft colors. It was important to them to include design aspects and a menu that reflected various cultures, as Sunil is from Australia, Gaar is from Wisconsin, and they met in the Middle East. After a beautiful outdoor ceremony, family and friends were greeted by a gorgeous sunset at About Thyme Farm while Middle Eastern music played in the background. Lavender adorned all of the tables where food was served "family style" with a custom menu to fit all guests needs. Throughout the evening guests enjoyed a fantastic selection of wine from local wineries as well as Australia.

first things first TOP 10 THINGS TO DO AFTER YOU GET ENGAGED

1

Sit down with your fiance and talk about the wedding you both want. (not your parents, you!). After getting your ideas in order have a talk with both sets of parents and express your wants for the day and then ask them how they feel about it and what they envision.

2

Guest list comes before venue selection - you need to know what size space you need.

3

A reception facility will be the largest part of your budget, around 40%. You may choose to view a few locations before locking down a budget. These visits may help you nail down your budget as well.

4

When visiting a venue also keep in mind that pictures you have seen of weddings there may have had a lot of rental & decor items brought in to make the space look that way. These items add money to your budget.

5

Now that you have some educated pricing, come up with a budget before signing a contract with any vendor.

6 7

A reception facility will also give you great referrals of professionals that have done nice work there and are trustworthy.

Consultations with planners are complimentary. Talk with them. They work in these venues, they know

8

Take your time with selecting a bridal party. There is no rush here! People tend to ask people in excitement before making a plan together with your fiance.

9

Great vendors book up fast. Do not wait. Many vendors will only take a limited amount of weddings per day.

10

A photographer should be first on your list after your venue. Select your photographer so you can schedule your engagement session so you have a picture ready for your save the dates to go out 9-12 months before the wedding date.

picture perfect TIPS FOR A PERFECT ENGAGEMENT SESSION ADD IN A POP OF COLOR - Neutral colored clothing is always classic but adding a pop of color whether in your clothing, shoes, or scarf is a great accent to your photos. KEEP IT SIMPLE - You don't need props or a lot of other accessories. Let the focus be on the two of you! BE YOURSELVES - These photos should reflect your personality as a couple. From the clothing to the setting you should be comfortable and at ease. LET THE PRO GUIDE YOU - Take their advice, they know what looks best and most natural. YOU CAN NEVER BE TOO OVERDRESSED - Skip the everyday clothes.

wedding registry tips REGISTRY TIPS FOR BEYOND THE BASICS Article contribution by Time for Decor

When it comes to wedding registries there are endless options available to couples both online and at physical storefronts. It's easy for this task to become overwhelming but we've asked Lisa Prunty, owner of Time for Decor, to provide her top tips of what couples need to know when creating a gift registry. Prunty reminisces, "As I embark on my 30th wedding anniversary I have noticed many things have changed when planning a wedding, one of the biggest changes being gift-giving. We often see couples struggling with the numerous options between online registries, department stores, and local shops. Back when I got married, we didn’t have Pinterest, Target, Bed, Bath and Beyond, the internet or Amazon. We had Marshall Fields (I’m aging myself ), Macy’s, Nordstroms and a few additional specialty shops". Fewer couples now days are needing the staples like kitchen items, bath towels, small appliances, etc. than in decades past as they already have a settled home. Prunty recommends couples choose items that go beyond the basics like home decor that reflects your style as a couple and "will withstand the test of time in style and in quality".

THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX

DON'T FORGET DECOR

MIX UP THE HIGHS & LOWS

Now couples can combine the best of both worlds. They can register at your traditional well-known storefronts, yet they also are thinking outside the box when it comes to registering and choosing boutique shops. Some of our couples have combined two households and are looking to fill their home with a special entertaining pieces, wall art and even furniture.

This is the time to look beyond the basics such as towels, vacuum cleaners or gadgets. This is the time to pick out that special lamp for your bedroom, wall art, special throws and pillows, serving pieces that again are timeless. These pieces will help your house become the marital home you want. Your guests will love to visit and see their gift displayed or being used daily.

Gifts come in all shapes and price points. You will have the individual who wants to pick out the perfect gift for the happy couple, and then you have the group of people who want to financially participate in the gift giving event, allowing larger ticket items to be purchased. Provide your guests with a range of price points. Mix it up a bit. Your guests will appreciate that you have chosen a variety of price-points that are comfortable for their budgets.

As a courtesy to your guests, it is nice to offer a variety of methods as to how they purchase gifts, whether they are the type that wants to go to the store or do their shopping online. Prunty states, "I don’t know about you but I’m still one of those people where I need to see, touch, and even smell something before I purchase home goods, especially when giving it as a gift.". At Time for Decor, couples enjoy registering in the shop but then their guests have the flexibility of shopping online or visiting the shop in person to find the perfect gift. In closing Prunty advises, "Wedding registries will continue to change as technology does, yet these simple tips will be used for years to come. Just remember think outside the box, don’t forget décor and mix up the price points. In the end it's best to choose items for you and your significant other and for your home and style".

floral trends 2019 WEDDING FLORAL FORECAST Article contribution by Jerad Karcz, buds 'n bloom design studio

Looking back at 2018, wedding flowers were less about the floral than they were about greenery. While we can expect the lush greens to stay, we are saying farewell to blush and pastel. 2019 is bringing back bold colors and daring pairings, which as floral designers we are thrilled about! Arrangements with texture, boho designs, and saturated color palettes are the big things looking forward. While the rustic concept has been popular for some time with DIY decorators, in 2019, many brides are saying goodbye to baby’s breath and burlap, as we find our way back to an elegant professionally designed wedding. The sophisticated looks for this coming year require a professional approach. BOLD AND BEAUTIFUL BLOOMS While pastel and copper have taken the wedding world by storm in the last few years, it seems this softened trend is transforming into brighter, bolder colors. Oranges, reds, and jewel tones are welcomed in wedding flower trends. Pantone’s color of the year 2018 was Ultra Violet, a deep purple described as “complex and contemplative”. The 2017 and 2016 colors were greenery and rose quartz, respectively, demonstrating just how popular pastels and foliage became in the last two years. Building on 2017’s trend of greenery, with more couples than ever deciding to have only greenery arrangements, 2019 will slowly introduce flowers back into the fold. Fewer, yet bolder blooms tucked into mixed foliage will maintain a lot of depth and texture. (see Rachel and Eric’s real wedding for a prime example! Pg. 71) WHERE RUSTIC MEETS ROMANTIC Rustic weddings have been popular for many years. Looking forward, we expect them to evolve in a way that includes a more traditional romantic aesthetic. Brides are gravitating towards an industrial look, lots of raw spaces and materials, yet with lush greenery and classic florals for balance. Table centerpieces favor mixed metal vessels over clear glass to contrast the vibrant trend colors. Centerpieces that use tailored greenery bring in a sense of the outdoors and transform any space. Greenery is the new element that transforms rustic weddings into a Rustic Romantic concept. Rustic Romantic color trends for 2019 lean towards deep bold tones including: maroon, peony inspired corals, hunter green, and a majestic royal blue.

FLORAL TRENDS

CLASSIC WHITE EVOLVES No matter how much we talk about trends or try to push the envelope, we never get tired of traditional white weddings. White is pure, timeless, and soothing to the eye. The combination of anemone, peony, ranunculus, hydrangea, freesia, stock, garden rose, and dahlia are all stunning in white. White anemones have always been a treat to design with. Navy blue is continuing from 2018 as an exciting alternative to black, especially in men’s formalwear. The white anemone with its black and navy center complements this color palette perfectly! STATEMENT PIECES Floral architecture isn’t new to weddings by any means; everybody’s seen an arch in their day! This year there are a lot of requests for larger floral installations such as flower walls and ceremony structures that can be repurposed at the reception. Guests love a good photo opportunity; a floral statement piece is a great way to skip the traditional photo booth and provide an Instagram post to remember.

tent tips Article contribution by Elite Rentals

DECIDING TO RENT A TENT The decision to rent a tent should depend on the location of the venue and the season. With Wisconsin’s unpredictable weather it is always a safe bet to have a backup plan in case Mother Nature decides to be an uninvited guest. The right tent will protect guests from unexpected weather while provided a stylish backdrop for your ceremony or reception. It can transform any venue you like – a botanical garden, a rustic farm, sandy beach or your own backyard – into the perfect customized event space.

PICKING THE RIGHT STYLE There are two common styles of tents – Pole and Frame. Pole tents are lightweight, portable, and easy to install. Due to the high poles in the center of the tent and shorter poles on the outside perimeter, these elegant tents have peaks in the center and a downward sloping appearance (they also must be staked into the ground). Frame tents rely on a metal frame, instead of interior poles, to hold up the canopy. They're ideal for smaller spaces, since they don't need extra clearance for ropes and stakes, and can be erected on most surfaces.

FINDING EVERYTHING ELSE Many tent-rental companies are full-service, providing everything that's needed for a tented wedding and reception: tables, chairs, linens, lighting, etc. Most have a showroom with samples of the choices available, as well as portfolios with photographs from previous events to help you navigate your selections.

REAL WEDDING

L AURA & PATRICK

OCTOBER 7 | EPHRAIM, WISCONSIN ASH & JAMES PHOTOGRAPHY

All the makings of a perfect Autumn outdoor wedding, with a little rain thrown in for good measure! Patrick & Laura treated their guests to a mini-destination wedding in one of their favorite locations, Door County. Laura grew up spending summer's in Ephraim and always knew that someday this would be the perfect place to tie the knot. Patrick & Laura always wanted a Fall wedding that incorporated lots of outdoor elements and earth tone colors. As rain clouds moved in the plan was to have the ceremony at the open-air Northern Sky Theatre. After going back and forth, the last minute decision was made to keep it outside and it ended up being a beautiful afternoon with just a few sprinkles. As two musicians themselves, music played a big role in their day. From the full bluegrass band, a variety of smaller ensembles from friends, an original song wrote & sung by Laura to Patrick before the ceremony, to Patrick & Laura joining the band at the reception to serenade their guests, the day was filled with thoughtful pieces from many talented loved ones. Family & friends enjoyed a romantic tented reception at Hillside Inn. Warm-toned florals, lanterns, and candles filled the tables. To end the evening, the party continued at the Ephraim Town Hall for a night of dancing.

KASSANDRA & MIKE AUGUST 8 | PRIVATE RESIDENCE ASHLEY KUST PHOTOGRAPHY

Kassandra and Mike were the last couple to be married in Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Oconto, making them the seventh generation to be married there on the brides side! A new church is currently being built on the same property, so this was bittersweet for the couple. They enjoyed a morning ceremony with a brunch reception to follow catered by Spork. The brunch featured a donut table, breakfast quiche, fruit and yogurt parfaits, a crepe bar, and a meat station with an entire section dedicated to bacon. The tented reception was filled with fresh florals and rustic details.

REAL WEDDING

JOSH & MIA JUNE 23 | ONEIDA GOLF & COUNTRY CLUB COLLEEN BIES PHOTOGRAPHY

Two Kansas City college students met and fell in love. Although Wisconsin natives, Mia's family members had attended college in Kansas City. It was only fitting that Mia also take that step and travel to start her journey. While she was studying, she met Josh and their relationship blossomed from there. Fast forward a few years and here we are, celebrating the marriage of these two incredibly sweet people. Mia's wonderful mom helped with much of the planning as Mia and Josh were not currently residing in Wisconsin. When Mia mentioned she wanted a lot of black...I think most people were concerned it would be too much black. But Mia had a vision for an elegant affair dripping of white florals all over a black landscape in order to create an elegant and modern look. And she totally nailed it. If there was a mic drop anywhere that day, it would be her fantastic vision. Not only was it a beautiful ceremony, but every person was filled with love and lots of fun waiting to burst out. In fact, during the father/daughter dance which started traditionally as a slow dance; kicked into high gear moments in and Mia and her Dad owned the dance floor. Afterwards, the dance floor was packed and continued to be the entire night. More than anything, their family and friends had the most open of hearts and hands to be truly present with them on their wedding day.

Roles of Vendors WHAT TO EXPECT FROM YOUR VENDORS Article Contribution by sash&bow

The #1 secret to having an amazing wedding and stress-free celebration.... hiring quality vendors! These are the people that you trust with one of the biggest days of your life, it's no small decision. In a sea of endless options, when it comes to your vendors it can be hard to know who is a tested and proven professional. When selecting your "dream team" of vendors, experience is key. The more seasoned a vendor is the more likely they are able to navigate unexpected issues with ease. In this digital age, anyone can put up a website, so be sure to dig into the vendor's history to learn more about them. Meet them for coffee, get to know their personality. Be sure to ask some of the important questions. Do they have a staff? What happens if this person isn't able to make it to your wedding, who is the back up? Are there any additional fees for services that you are not expecting? Ex. Delivery, Cocktail Music, Uplighting, Take Down, Set Up... Another helpful tip is to check with your venue for recommendations. They work with a wide range of vendors and will refer professionals to you that they trust and know work well there. In the end, having confidence in your vendors is an absolute must! Do not settle for someone less experienced if you don't have 100% confidence in them. You want to keep your budget in mind but on occasion you may go over on a budget line for a vendor who is right for you and that's ok, as long as you know you will be happy with the end product.

VENUE COORDINATOR

Role: Assistance with booking venue, food & beverage; making sure the venue is set up per your layout. Pro Tip: Vendor Coordinators often come and go; the one you start with may not be the one you end up with. Get important details in writing as soon as possible.

Role: Floral design and delivery. Pro Tip: Opt for the takedown fee and save your family & friends the trouble of dumping water and boxing up vases that night

DJ OR BAND

FLORIST

Role: Emceeing of the event and playing music. Pro Tip: When booking a dj or band, it is nice to know your upfront cost for them to play from cocktail hour through dinner until midnight, so that extra fees aren't added on later that you were not aware of.

Role: Taking photos/video and capturing your memories, suggesting locations for photos. Pro Tip: Do the engagement session with your photographer. This session is a trial run for the wedding day and gives you a chance to get to know each other before the wedding day.

PLANNER, DESIGNER OR COORDINATOR

Role: Vendors & venue selection, room & detail design coordination, timeline creation of entire day. Filling in the gaps. Pro Tip: Make sure you are selecting someone that can make your life easier and offers you comprehensive assistance.

Role: To marry you! Pro Tip: If having a friend or family member officiate, make sure they know their roles in sending in the marriage license after the wedding.

OFFICIANT

Role: To bake & deliver the dessert you planned for.

BAKER

Pro Tip: Ask questions about the cake you are ordering - is it frozen when it is delivered? How many cakes do you do a day?

Role: Food preparation, setting of china, flatware, and glassware for the meal. Clearing the tables after food service. Pro Tip: If you are in a location where a caterer is coming in, make sure you understand all of the service that they are providing.

ring tips Article contribution by Jill Rouse, Owner, Bay Area Diamond Company

WHAT ARE YOUR TOP 3 WEDDING RING SHOPPING TIPS WHEN LOOKING FOR WEDDING BANDS? When shopping for a groom’s band, there are many choices made in “alternative” metals. Most of these cannot be sized, so this is important to remember if you are planning to get your rings blessed. The ring you get married with will not likely be your “forever” ring. Also, they are extremely difficult to remove in the case of accident or injury. White gold, yellow gold and platinum are recommended for their ease of maintenance and heirloom qualities. No matter how old they are, they can be made to look new again. So, although alternative metals seem less expensive in the beginning, they can be costly over your lifetime. Since most grooms are not used to wearing a ring, they tend to want to order theirs in a half size or a whole size too large. This makes the ring uncomfortable to wear and usually leads to losing the ring as it slides off the finger too easily. Your jeweler should be able to help you find the correct size for you. Shop early! Wedding bands can often be one of the last purchases before the wedding. But wedding bands will be with you long after you cut the cake. Plan and budget accordingly. This also helps you be certain that the one you want can be ordered and customized on time and eliminates stress closer to your wedding date.

WHAT ARE SOME OF THE RING TRENDS YOU ARE SEEING FOR THIS COMING YEAR? Every bride wants a ring that is uniquely hers. We are doing customizations regularly, from metal color to number of diamonds to complete custom-designed rings. Brides are also getting away from buying the band that matches her engagement ring and opting for whimsical, mix-and-match looks. A white gold engagement ring is often paired with a rose gold or yellow gold wedding band. Or an engagement ring with a channel of diamonds is paired with a band with a floral design. The sky’s the limit!

WHAT IS THE BEST ADVICE YOU WOULD GIVE TO A COUPLE WHEN THEY’RE FIRST RING SHOPPING ON HOW TO SELECT A QUALITY JEWELER? When shopping for an engagement ring, or any major purchase, you want someone you can trust. Lots of stores sell jewelry, but they’re not all created equal. Take the advice of people who’ve been in your shoes before. With the internet, it’s easy to see the reputation of a store by looking at their reviews. It doesn’t matter how long a store has been in business; if they have a solid rating backed by hundreds of reviewers, that speaks loudly.

ERIC & RACHEL OCTOBER 12 | BADGER STATE BREWING COMPANY ERIN JEAN PHOTOGRAPHY From the bright colors adorning every bloom, to the relaxed autumn vibe, everything was simply beautiful for Eric & Rachel's Green Bay wedding. Eric & Rachel wanted a non-traditional ceremony space with a modern twist and Rockwood Terrace in the Titletown District was the perfect option for them. Rachel looked stunning in her custom made gown by Wisconsin designer, Alyssa Kristin, along with her gorgeous jewelry made by the bride herself (Rachel is the owner of Ray Jewelry).

Winter Wedding UNEXPECTED PERKS OF HAVING A WINTER WEDDING

1

2

3

Guest List - You may have more guests attend during the winter months than during the summer, when many families are taking trips.

Not such a rush to plan, as more vendors are available.

Snow. Snow certainly can happen during this time, and put a damper on travel. However, it is the most magical element in photos!

4

5

6

Some venues & vendors may be more willing to adjust their pricing as it is when they are less busy.

Added decor in venues & churches around the Christmas season that you don’t need to pay for.

Sweets & warm drinks are fun to plan around the winter months.

7

8

9

New Year’s Eve Weddings can become a celebration, and a great anniversary for years to come! Many venues allow you to stay after midnight - If so, consider a later start time for the ceremony & cocktail hour.

Shopping for attire is in less of a peak time, so are alterations.

Vendors are refreshed and focused more on you as they aren’t executing a wedding every weekend at this point.

REAL WEDDING

NATALIA & MIKE

JANUARY 27 | HYATT REGENCY GREEN BAY ALLI MARTINS PHOTOGRAPHY

Mike and Natalia wanted a winter wedding because it’s unique, and they find such beauty in Wisconsin’s snow scape. However, the snow decided to melt that week in January. Natalia always dreamed of having a winter wonderland wedding and that is what they hoped to create. However they did end up getting the perfect sunset. Mike & Natalia knew the Riverview Room at the KI Center was the perfect backdrop for their ceremony because it displayed all of downtown Green Bay and Titletown Brewery. These two had their first date at Titletown Brewery exactly three years to the day they got married! Photos were take at Titletown, and they even enjoyed a beer in the booth where they had their first date. The beloved Johnny Blood Red Titletown beer was served at the wedding too! Mike is very into music and it was very important for them to have a band at the wedding. Mike surprised Natalia and played the drums with the band to “Uptown Funk” which is their favorite song. It was the sweetest surprise! The newlyweds wanted to leave their guests with a fun takeaway from their wedding. Rather than doing the normal photo booth, Mike and Natalia hired a caricaturist!
